Bakery Jongejans in Haarlemmerbuurt

Nice bakery. Friendly lady, too. Bought two oliebollen (Dutch doughnuts) that we wanted to eat right away. The service could be better, in my opinion. I had to ask for powdered sugar... from the enormous bucket of powdered sugar, we got a wafer-thin layer of sugar over the oliebollen. A shame, because they didn't taste sweet. I also had to ask for two napkins.

Really quite expensive for the quality and quantity of the product (sliced seed bread for 5.5). The fact that no price are shown makes me feel a bit strange too.

I visited the store because I was attracted by their Pain au Chocolat. It was around 1pm, so there were only male staff members in the store, so it was a little hesitant to go in, but I went in anyway. When I asked for a Pain au Chocolat, the staff member put down his cell phone, grabbed the bread with his bare hands, and put it in a bag. It tasted good, but I couldn't help but worry about the hygiene. It was disappointing.

Absolutely banging croissant from here. Huge, less than €3 per piece and the size of your head! Lady behind the counter was very kind and friendly. Really impressed and genuinely recommend.

Top bakery, top presentation, friendly seller from Barcelona. Everything top. I come especially for a warm Surinamese pastry for on the road. Too bad there are no benches in front of the shop and seats inside for coffee with goodies, that would certainly improve the atmosphere even more. Who knows! Good luck! Annemique via Mikel!

Picked up a croissant this morning. When I arrived the shop lady was standing in the doorway smoking. She stubs out her cigarette on the windowsill of the shop. Walks in and the whole place smells of cigarette smoke. I said I thought this was very dirty. Her response to this was: Would you like a cigarette or a loaf of bread? She reacts very aggressively. But she also doesn't wash her hands before grabbing my croissant with her bare hands. It's a shame that you do not observe social hygiene and undermine the bread smell with cigarette smell. Unfortunately this is true.

Albeit we came in 10 minutes before closing (which we were not aware of), after browsing their shelves we were very rudely told to leave. We were asked whether we knew “that socialising was for outside and not inside and that here was for buying” whilst we were discussing if we wanted to buy anything was horrendous. Horrible lady with short hair and attitude, clearly leading a horrible life. But at least she gave the customer before us a free order with loads of items… prejudiced and rude staff

Beautiful traditional Dutch bakery with a warm atmosphere and the most beautifully layered and tastiest croissants I have eaten so far. No tourist hassle, no absurd prices, and a super friendly bakery.

Bread etc. looks good and tastes the same. The clerk was very friendly.

Denis provided excellent customer service in helping me pick out the bread I needed. They have been there since 1926 and bake bread every morning! Highly recommend this bakery & breadshop.

A beautiful lady works there, very kind and welcoming. Delicious breakfast and very fair prices. Excellent place for a take away breakfast.

Not a super touristy place, the locals line up outside this shop (which can only fit about 3 people) to buy fresh sliced bread. We would stop by early most mornings to pick up their amazing artisanal bread bites, croissants, or pastries for a low cost breakfast at our AirBnB. The woman running the shop is very nice and made some yummy recommendations (did I mention the artisanal bread??) plus the prices are not inflated for tourists like some of the bigger shops. We tried one of the touristy bakeries to see what the hype was about and am happy to report that this bakery windmill dunked on the tourist trap - do yourself a favor, skip those and come here instead. Wish I had remembered to take pictures.

So tasty, and good value too! Even the plain white bread had a great texture and fresh bread smell, and there are also fancier pastries which are amazing. I had a tower pastry with a melt in your mouth meringue on top, layers of vanilla cream and whipped cream, a soft cookie on bottom, and cherry in the middle. I have no idea what it's called, but yum.

This place was a big surprise! It's an amazing bakery. Would 10/10 recommend! Also, the staff was extra friendly which is a big plus :) Will surely come back soon to try the other goodies!

Les croissants et pains au chocolat sont dignes d’une boulangerie française. D’autres bonnes pâtisseries aussi.

Cosy charming little bakery, take away options only. There is no seating. Good crossiants but not the place for coffe.

Vraag je om een "warm" sausijsen broodje is ie koud van binnen, teleurstellend.

Dagelijkse brood bij Jongejans. Mooi brood, ouderwets lekker. Ook zuurdesem brood en heerlijke croissants.

Small take-away bakery (no seating or toilets). But the pastries and bread were delicious and fresh! It was very reasonably priced for Amsterdam. Highly recommend!

De amandel koekjes waren lekker, de saucijzenbroodjes zuur. Deze waren gekocht op het Gelderlandplein.
