Bakker Van Den Berg in Wijk 00 Burgum

This week we bought an apple pie from this bakery. Because I have a nut allergy, we explicitly asked if nuts were used in the pie. We were assured that this was not the case. However, upon eating the pie, it turned out that there was indeed almond paste in the crust. I find it truly incomprehensible and very reprehensible that this is overlooked after being specifically asked about. When we called the bakery about this, the response we received was: "Oh yes, almond paste is of course also made from nuts." No apology followed, and there seemed to be little awareness of the seriousness of the situation and the consequences for someone with a nut allergy. If you are not sure, say so, but a mistake like this really should not be made by a bakery. I find a lack of knowledge about allergens *and* the absence of any responsibility or empathy truly unbelievable. Absolutely not recommended!

A nice shop with lots of choice and very friendly staff

I still hope to get a call back. I sent a message this morning, January 10th, with a complaint; apparently, they don't think it's necessary to respond. That's why I'm giving it a 1☆ for now, which I hope to change to a 5☆ because the baker otherwise bakes excellent and tasty products. I didn't get a call back and no response, so the complaint stands. This baker doesn't care and will now file a complaint with Makro about this as well.
