As a true Amsterdam city girl who hasn't eaten much Oranjekoek in her life, but who really loves spice cakes and spice pastries, I have to say that this is perhaps the best thing ever. This cake/cake is so fresh and so delicious. You can clearly taste the ingredients. Those aniseed pieces. Oh, oh, oh... I dreamed about it at night (no joke). And it is so fresh that I already noticed a slight difference the next day compared to the day of purchase. Still delicious, but you can just tell. That almond paste... that thin layer of icing... that fresh whipped cream... with that fruit on top too! If you ever end up here from another part of the country, please come and taste this here. To compare it to something. This Oranjekoek is just as good as the whipped cream ice cream and whipped cream cake from Van der Linde in Amsterdam Centrum.
