Terrible staff, and no matter when you come, the cheese sticks or bread are never baked... It used to be such a top bakery with top staff who greeted you cheerfully, now they can't even manage a good morning... terrible

Excellent bakery with great selection. Everything is so fresh and delicious. I love the sourdough bread. Marisca, the manager, serves with a smile and is very knowledgeable.

Just bought cream puffs. 8 for €9.20 🤬 They were as hard as a Kaiser roll, had no powdered sugar, and last but not least, were still half frozen! And that from a real bakery. Next time I'll go to Jumbo. Way tastier and cheaper!

"Everything used to be better!" I don't like that term, but in this case, it's true! I used to come back here for years, for the delicious, affordable bread, the affordable, and the very best ham and cheese croissants in Utrecht. I used to get out of bed for them. And I used to treat my colleagues to them. Now there's a plate of ham and cheese croissant, and then there's a kind of coffee roll of nothing, with pieces of ham and cheese (and I think, definitely not fresh). And you pay a premium for that, 2.95 I think the last time I was there (a coffee roll costs 0.50 cents in a supermarket). The selection is truly appalling. What a difference from my beloved Roel bakery of the past. But there is hope! Roel bakery is still alive! Twice, even in Utrecht. Just Google it! And to Bakker van Maanen: there used to be a line at your bakery, when it didn't yet bear your name. Even under Brokking, the decline in quality began there. People were still leaving with 4 or 5 loaves. There are many healthcare organizations in your area that bought bread from you. The staff who used to work at Roel's bakery and later for Brokking: I miss them too, but I understand why they no longer work there. At 8 o'clock, everything used to be ready and waiting, and the real ham and cheese croissants were already warm and in stock. Now, at that time, it's like a burnt-out village when I walk past. Definitely try a ham and cheese croissant from yourself and the one from the Jumbo next door. And be honest about your answer: quality, taste, and price. My sincere advice: Change your name and restore your reputation. Your bread is good and stays fresh for a long time, but it tends towards factory-made bread in taste and texture and is therefore really too expensive. The advantage is that you don't have to wait, but you get your turn relatively quickly. Get back to basics and start making some real money.

Great bakery with delicious bread

My latest experiences there: Not very tasty bread (I am a baker's son). This looks more like a bread factory than a real bakery. What do you expect with so many branches, machine mass production. Only made a 2 from my 1, that is less impulsive, it remains a lousy business. They also seem to have "cleared" all the older staff. The oliebollen were not great after purchase, dried out very quickly, more than 13 euros thrown away. From another and much better bakery in the slightly further neighborhood, they were also good the next day. I will skip this bakery. If only baker Roel were still there at this location. This is bad.

The bread is delicious, but I miss the cheerful, friendly women who worked in the shop. A few months after the takeover, the entire team was replaced. I often have to wait a long time these days because the pace is slow. Update: I still miss the shop assistants from before. Also because, after years of familiar faces, they were suddenly gone. But my original review needs to be revised: these days, the people are really friendly again, and I don't have to wait long anymore.

Delicious bread at a high price and disinterested service.

This was the last time I visited this bakery. After indicating that I wanted to pay in cash instead of by card, I got the response: "Now you're rid of your black money, right?" I honestly wondered what this response was based on. In my opinion, this was incredibly discriminatory. Such comments are extremely inappropriate. The lady made unfounded assumptions.

Delicious pastries and nice staff

Downright rude staff. I go to this bakery with the best intentions to support the local entrepreneur and make purchases here. How terrible the way you are being spoken to here, nothing good to say about it. I will walk past this door in the future.
