The bread is good, but as everyone here also thinks, it's the younger ladies working there. Most of them are very slow and just prefer playing on their phones all day. I understand it's the generation, but goodness gracious, it really is bad sometimes.. An older Hindu lady is always very nice and helpful though.

Walked past many times, finally gave it a try, but I didn't like it. There is absolutely no atmosphere and the service is poor; it's a real shame.

Very rude coffee making worker, when our (to go) coffee was ready they did not call us, and we were waiting unnecessarily , We went to sit at the tables, because we also had bought some pastries to eat and tired of waiting. After a while, i went to check if my coffee was ready and saw that it’s left on the counter, soon as i grabbed my coffee, i was approached by the same person, asking us to leave because our coffee was to go and we’re not allowed to eat at table, despite buying pastries and despite many tables being empty . The pastry was good , but wish that we were treated better.

I've eaten a sandwich here several times... old or tough bread... today's 'healthy' sandwich too... mediocre taste... salmon sandwich not good either... other times the tuna sandwich and toasted sandwich were also unsatisfactory... often there is too much lettuce or arugula on the sandwiches... lots of room for improvement in my opinion... a shame because the place itself is okay with nice seating areas... the quality could be better in my view...

Unfortunately, it wasn't that busy at all. Still, you were asked to order at the cash register. I ended up standing there waiting, even though the ladies had clearly seen me standing there. They didn't even look at me or say anything. I have been here before, when it was much busier and there were only two employees. Back then, I was served politely and kindly. This time there were three ladies, but in my opinion, they were mostly just very ‘busy’ with all sorts of things, although I have no idea what exactly. Anyway, this was definitely the last time I’ll be coming here. :)

Amazing! I work part-time at the Lusthof Street location every now and then, and I always get a spiced chicken thigh sandwich during my break. Unfortunately, there were no sandwiches left today (it was 3:15 PM, so understandable), so I sadly went to Albert Heijn. On the way back, a staff member came running out to personally give me a sandwich. Incredibly sweet and incredibly delicious, it really made my day 😘. Now I always come to get my sandwich there whenever I work there again.

Friendly staff. Good for grabbing a cup of coffee and cake.

Very bad experience. We sat at the table for well over 30 minutes and received no attention from the staff during that entire time. No one came by. No greeting, no request for drinks, no taking of the order, absolutely nothing. We tried to make contact with the staff multiple times, but received no response. It felt like we were being completely ignored. Additionally, the staff did not come across as friendly or welcoming; rather, they seemed uninterested and distant. It can happen that it is busy, but completely ignoring guests for more than half an hour without any communication is simply bad service. Especially since other reviews mention the same thing, it seems there is something fundamentally wrong with the service and attention to guests. In the end, we left without ordering anything. Very disappointing and absolutely not recommended.

I was immediately sent out because we weren't allowed to sit there with our own food, whereas last time we were allowed to eat with our own food.

Had to wait 40 minutes for two sandwiches...ridiculous service. I'll never visit this place again!

Unfortunately, nine times out of ten, orders go wrong; apparently, they don't know how to work the checkout. Otherwise, the products are good, and they always try to find a solution.

You're never approached with a "we saw you and we'll be right with you" attitude. Instead, they simply look at you and calmly carry on with their work. I once had to wait 20 minutes to place my order because she was busy making one or two sandwiches. We were especially unfriendly towards the lady making the sandwiches. She wasn't friendly at all, and the atmosphere wasn't pleasant. The sandwiches themselves are delicious, but they could use some improvement in the atmosphere and service. It's also strange that they haven't changed their approach yet, considering you keep reading the same reviews.

Very annoying when you come in and the staff sees you sitting down and then it takes another hour before they come to take your order

I live literally around the corner and have often tried to be pleasantly surprised, but unfortunately, I haven't. The factors that contribute to this include: the staff is incredibly slow and disinterested, and they don't even seem to know what they're selling. The products are often not fresh, or at least don't taste that way. The containers outside are always dirty and are manned by non-customers. Read: the clients of the homeless shelter around the corner. Furthermore, the cheese sticks have become more expensive, which is understandable if they were bigger and tastier, for example. But that's not the case. Leave things as they are, let a business owner run the space who's actually doing their best.

It's incredibly annoying to have to wait so long before you can even order anything, even though the staff has already seen you sitting there for ages. There are also a lot of pigeons in the store. And the prices at the cash register don't match the prices on the menu. What on earth are you doing with all these negative reviews?

115 years here? High time you get the hell out of here. "You have to pay there, sir." After you've been standing in line for 10 minutes. Then I go there, they'll happily say: "you have to pay on the right and not on the left, sir." I left it there and walked away forever.

The workers are so rude they do now come up to you and do not take your order very awful

For the first time I had a tuna sandwich, and I asked for it without capers. She says that it probably isn't there (which it was). Also received the wrong type of bread. I really didn't want white bread. It was delicious, I must say

I used to come here every week for a sandwich, but after the takeover by Van Maanen the quality (and taste) has completely disappeared. Today, after some hesitation, I stopped by again, but since I noticed the pigeon on top of the bread on the shelves behind the counter before one of the employees, I decided to leave.

The store has switched to different sandwiches and toppings. No improvement at all. The tuna salad sandwich was absolutely awful! I put it in a bag (not a box like before). The first and last time, yuck.

What a grumpy girl standing there. Unbelievable, she doesn't know the correct prices, and then she's being stubborn too. Last time I went there.

If you're looking for a quick, healthy sandwich from the bakery, this is definitely not the place to go. We waited 15 minutes for our toasted sandwiches and were given oven-warmed bread with some cheese and two slices of tomato. It was definitely not a toasted sandwich! While we were waiting, a few people got the wrong orders. And what's more, the staff is very rude to customers! Definitely not recommended!

Cappuccino not to be had. Like making a Nespresso from an already used cup. The bread was nice and fresh, but the rocket was spoiled. There were no capers. Hopeless

Croissant and coffee is a classic European breakfast, but the employees are very attentive and friendly, this is a big influence for me to go somewhere regularly, and the seating overlooking the street is nice and comfortable. I loved the croissants and coffee, and the cookies they put with the coffee.

Ordered a cake well in advance, when I arrived at the store the wrong cake was ready for me. No replacement was given either, luckily money back. Only a birthday ruined because of 'no' cake.

Wait 35 minutes for 1 sandwich, get your order wrong, then make another one first and make you wait. Service has gotten so much worse here lately.

People are friendly, but unfortunately the coffee is undrinkable and the food is also of poor quality. As if they use the shop to sell off their old bread.

Picked up some sandwiches here, I don't really understand the bad reviews. It was a really delicious fresh sandwich, well filled. Will definitely be getting sandwiches here more often

Terrible pigeons everywhere, dirty tables, outside too, we won't come again

White balls containing so many toxic and unnecessary ingredients, you can no longer call this a bakery or bread, whatever you buy, please check the label or ask them what additives and fillers they put in it because they just poison you bread is no longer made here and is no longer sold, after all, bread consists of only 3 or 4 ingredients, it can be that simple and healthy!

We will not eat here again, unhygienic, tables or floors are not cleaned so you sit at a table with crumbs, we also saw the pigeons that flew in and peck at the bread and it is then sold again... then put it away. least the bread in a display case!! A small bottle of Orange juice 3.50 gosh, it was a really small bottle and the mango chicken sandwich was on the dry side...we didn't find the staff very friendly either so no, we won't be coming back here again!!

Just bought baguette, what a tragedy. Hard, tough and way too expensive. Plenty of better bakers in the area. Do not!

When I got the tompouces I was told that they were fresh. When I wanted to eat them the same day, they really didn't taste fresh. More from two days ago, couldn't eat it!! b

Very nice bakery, nice atmosphere and incredible delicacies!!!!

After half an hour of rushing from work in a huge traffic jam, I arrived exactly 3 minutes after closing time and also the end time of a Too Good To Go package. All the gates were already down. Inside, there were still four employees quietly working at the counter. I understand that you close at a fixed time, but gosh... 3 minutes! Then leave a bit of the hatch open, or look around to see if someone else is rushing for that package. This is super disappointing and not very customer friendly.

Actually quite sad that it is necessary to report this. This does not concern all employees, but what an unfriendly woman is standing behind the counter. The reviews you read here from other customers certainly do not lie. This woman is very rude. I really think that some social skills training would not be out of place for this woman. First experience, but I prefer to go to another Van Maanen bakery. It's a shame that the management of this chain does not intervene.

Het pistache-witte chocolade gebak is to die for! En de mango/passie cheesecake is heel machtig maar ook enorm lekker. Aanrader!

Ik kom hier voor brood. Maar het idee gezellig naar de bakker gaan, zit er niet in. Neem mensen aan met een hart voor de zaak.

Goede producten maar helaas niet echt vriendelijk personeel

Ik hou niet van slechte reviews geven, maar wil toch even mijn frustratie uiten nadat ik en mijn twee zoontjes in het cafeetje compleet genegeerd werden door het bedienend personeel. Toen we na tien minuten maar weer wegliepen werd pas duidelijk gemaakt dat je blijkbaar aan een andere balie aam de bar moet bestellen. Dit stond half verscholen gemeld op kleine bordjes in de menuhouder op tafel. Niet een erg klantvriendelijke methode. Tijd om wat verbeteringen door te voeren zou ik zeggen.

A certainty in the neighborhood. It's a bakery, so their priority is not the service, but I love their terrace, their cappuccino and fresh bread and bakeries.

Prijs van koffie is prima, kwaliteit laat wel te wensen over.
