What a disappointing experience with the service. The employees were talking to each other and made me wait. Then they only finished half of my order and continued their conversation. They didn't even understand me well because they were so busy with each other. Very unfortunate, especially because I had previously left a positive review. This is not how I want to be treated.

I liked coming here too. How can the currant buns and white buns not be fresh (on Saturday). The sandwich was also not good. Just read other reviews who experienced the same thing. Very disappointed. Too bad there is no control over this!

Balvert Bakery was taken over a while ago by a new owner, including new staff. Unfortunately, this drastic change does not benefit this previously fine bakery. I have been there a few times now in the afternoon, at different times, and was then told that no more sandwiches were being made (while there were still plenty of sandwiches). Now only for people who do not work irregular shifts? If that was the only thing...everything has changed for the worse. The new staff seems unfriendly and uninterested, the bakery itself looks dingy and unkempt, and the quality of the products is far below par (I went there last week to get Berliner buns, they were very dry and the cream had a strange aftertaste) This is a shame!

This place and people working here are a joke. Completely unaware of what the products are made of. A simple question of what and how the muffins are made of and they were in chock of the question. Go somewhere else!

You ask for a cheese/parma ham sandwich but you get parma ham, cucumber, egg and honey-mustard sauce??

I just went to buy myself a sandwich. The person who served me was very rude. I felt bad. I felt like I was disturbing. It was a bad moment.

Great bakery! I come here every Saturday to get bread and treats, including a delicious ball sandwich! The ladies (especially Tessa!) are great, always nice and great service, I can't wait for next Saturday!!!

was always quite satisfied...but pastries are just old and completely dried out....customer friendliness is something they don't really know how to do. Openly talking and pointing about and at attractive men, while there is a long queue... nope.

That dark woman with short hair is really rude and disrespectful and angry. She yelled at me. This store has no hospitality or customer friendliness at all. 👎🏽

Staff is very unfriendly and disinterested, not a smile or a kind word. Hazelinos were okay, but less flavorful than normal. Unfortunately I won't be going here again.

Alleen ichlaz en nog een paar dames zijn geweldig maar de rest van het nieuwe personeel verpesten het voor mij. Ik kom mijn vertrouwde wortelsap nooit meer halen hier. Voel me als jarenlang trouwe klant echt teleurgesteld.

Was altijd de favoriete bakker, maar sinds een paar weken niet meer, lange rij en personeel staat met elkaar te kletsen en naar buiten te kijken ipv klanten te helpen. Jammer.

Toevallig hier een keer twee tompoezen meegenomen en die waren écht heel erg lekker. Krokant bladerdeeg, je proeft toch échte bakkersroom en zoete (maar niet té zoet) roze suikerlaagje. Dus nu voor Koningsdag 4 oranje tompoezen besteld. Woensdag opgehaald en dd volgende dag ook nog heerlijk om met visite bij de koffie te serveren.

Kwaliteit van oa gebak en broodjes is niet zoals je van een bakker mag verwachten. Met name gebak is eigenlijk gewoon niet lekker te noemen. Vrij smaakloos en het lijkt er al een tijd te liggen. De klachten die ik hieronder over het personeel lees herken ik overigens niet. Ik ben altijd vriendelijk geholpen! Wat wel erg storend is, is dat er heel vaak dingen op zijn. Bij het afhalen van een belegd broodje kan dat een saus zijn, het beleg, maar ook het merendeel van de verse bolletjes waardoor er geen keus meer is. Dat is voor een bakker nogal vreemd als het nog niet eens half 2 is geweest. Een pluspunt voor het ‘gewone’ brood: dat is hartstikke lekker!

Everything is delicious here. Prices are bit expensive but it's understandable considering quality of products and busy location. Greatly recommended bakery. Try the "strawberry pantofle" dessert.

Wel lekker, maar altijd enorm druk en je wordt dus niet vlot geholpen....

Lekkere broodjes, extreem langzame service

Oudere dame bij de belegde broodjes is erg onvriendelijk. De eerste keer dacht ik 'iedereen heeft zijn dag weleens niet'. Maar na de tweede keer besloten daar niet meer te komen. Broodjes zijn ook niet heel lekker...

Visited on a saturday afternoon and the queue was massive. Upon further investigation, I believe the queue was mainly for the hot food/drinks section and they were understaffed or working quite slowly so there was a massive queue. They had a very wide range of pastries, cakes, bread and snacks. I bought a pack of mixed biscuit selection, red velvet, butter cake and portugese tart. From the got food section, we got 2 ham and cheese toasties. Price wise, everything was relatively decent priced, the biscuit selection was a little expensive at 6+ euros I believe. In terms of taste: 1. biscuit selection: wasnt the best. wasnt very buttery and I only liked 1 of the buscuit types out of the 5-7 types. 2. red velvet: the cake wasnt try and better than the one I get from kwekkeboom but the cream cheese wasnt strong enough and the whole cake felt very... thick. Was decent but very filling and thick - I suggest having a hot tea or coffee when eating this. 3. butter cake: not tried yet 4. portugese tarts: nice. was a tad bit sweet for me but it wasnt too bad. I reheated them in the air fryer so the pastry was very crispy and nice. The flaky pastry was definitely nice. 5. toasties: normal toasties. probably couldve done with some sauce but wasnt too bad. There were 3 members of staff when I visited, 1 of the gentleman who served me was very nice and spoke good english. I think he might be new due to many reasons but very nice and friendly.

Ik kwam al lang bij deze bakker. Ik vind het een fijne en aardige bakker. Ik haalde er altijd het admiraal brood. Helaas is dat brood nu veranderd. Het was altijd lekker stevig, maar nu is het slap en smeer ik er gaten in. Voor mij is t nu tijd om toch maar eens andere bakkers uit te gaan proberen.

Heerlijke belegde broodjes. Het pretzel broodje met rundercarpaccio en truffelmayonaise is echt een traktatie.

Dit is ongetwijfeld de beste bakkerij van Amsterdam. De broodjes worden met liefde gemaakt , alles is vers en alles is heerlijk. Kom er vaak in de ochtend een broodje gezond halen. Na 1 keer bakkerij Balvert geprobeerd te hebben, wil je nooit meer wat anders.

Tja, je denkt het is maar een bakker, maar wel een heerlijke bakker met iedere keer iets nieuws op broodgebied. Zeer vriendelijk en gedreven personeel. Zaak is prima toegankelijk in rolstoel.

Broodje kip advocado was niet vies op zich. Wel hoe het op het brood werd gesmakt. Beetje interesse in klant kan geen kwaad dames.

I tried the Pastel de nata and the croissant with cream filling. The pastel de nata was well balanced, it remind me of Portugal so I would say achievement complete! The croissant was also great. I noticed that both were very fresh. Next time I am in the neighborhood, I will drop by for something more.

Heerlijk vers brood Huiselijk sfeer zeer lieve dames achter de toonbank

Als je de lekkerste brood of belegd broodje,snacks,sapjes of iets lekkers voor bij de koffie,thee of wat dan ook,dan moet je eens hier naar binnen gaan,aanrader vind ik het galetje brood met maanzaad

Vandaag voor de eerste keer in de Oostpoort geweest, maar daar komt verandering in! Wat een heerlijke bakker zit daar, en wat een leuk personeel. Het viel me direct op hoe de dames achter de counter met elkaar omgaan, en hoe verzorgd zij eruit zien. Vanmorgen was mijn brood nog even lekker als gisterochtend toen ik het kocht. En dat is bij de meeste bakkers niet het geval. Zo'n bakker zou hier in de rivierenbuurt een aanwinst zijn.

Heerlijk mini cakejes wel een beetje prijzig.

Lekker belegde broodjes, verse smoothies en een heel breed assortiment qua brood en zoetigheden!

Mooi en goede bakkerij, lekkere speculaas brokken !
