No more lunch after 3:30 PM; the three of us were working and the kitchen was closed. It would have been nice if we had been told that before we sat down. A shame it's not what it used to be.

Excellent bread with a pleasant tang and a crisp crust. It needs nothing else; it tastes delicious on its own. The staff is very friendly, and the prices are good.

Lovely place for breakfast with traditional, healthy and authentic food. We ordered delicious croissants and a fresh orange juice to enjoy outside. The clerk who served us was very kind and helpful. Recommended it!

After having enjoyed a very tasty breakfast at another bakery in Amsterdam earlier that day, we saw Vlaamsch Broodhuys, were intrigued, and decided to go in. Outside, we had already spotted the lunch deal: a sandwich plus a lemonade for €6.95. That was exactly what we wanted to take away. However, there were only two sandwiches left in the refrigerated display. So we asked if there were any more available. Instead of a simple "No, unfortunately, we're sold out," they offered to prepare the sandwiches we wanted fresh for us. And they also reminded us about the lunch deal again, politely and without hesitation. No attempt to sell us individual, potentially more expensive items instead – just good and fair service. However, there were only two sandwiches left in the refrigerated display. We waited a little while and then received freshly made sandwiches along with a really delicious orange soda to go. These are exactly the kinds of experiences that stick with you: friendly people, a good selection, fresh products, and employees who clearly understand what customer service means. Vlaamsch Broodhuys reminded us a bit of good, modern artisan bakeries like the ones we know from Berlin and Brandenburg: steeped in tradition, yet keeping up with the times and pleasantly uncomplicated. Another really positive surprise for us in Amsterdam. A definite 5 out of 5 stars. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

The bakery is very nice and the price is great. We ordered chicken with pesto and asked them to cook it separately so it wouldn't mix with other meats, and they readily agreed. The place is air-conditioned and very pleasant.

Everything was delicious. Prices are obviously less than 10 euros, but we chose a breakfast for 11.50 which included a croissant, half a baguette, jam, chocolate and peanut butter (natural and very good) as well as butter.

Sandwiches made very poorly. The bread is delicious, but you have to search for the toppings, and that for just 11 euros - only a slice of bread with minimal toppings. It's really over the top.

We stopped in here for a couple treats to take away on our passing whilst visiting the Jordaan area. Mt wife said the lady server was polite and friendly. Unfortunately the things we bought weren't that great. Maybe it was bad timing at 3.30pm on a Wednesday. We had a nectarine tart and a caramel cinnamon swirl. The caramel in the swirl was rock solid. Not sure if these get warmed before serving, really unpleasant. Perfect for any loose teeth. The nectarine tart was nice. Fresh fruit on top and looked very professional. But the pastry felt a day old and really soft. Maybe bad timing. They had some really nice looking jams and spreads but didnt ask if they were made in house. Service was lovely and wpuld return to try some bread and maybe ask what was fresh at a better time.

A somewhat fuller blonde woman served us in a very grumpy mood. Additionally, it seems that we accidentally paid twice because of her. We paid €28 for two sausage rolls and two cups of coffee. We didn't realize this at the time of payment; we only found out later. It is a real shame, as this unfortunately negatively affected our experience.

Croissants are served warm, and they have Parisian breakfasts with warm bread, butter, jam, and peanut butter. It's a great place for a quick breakfast.

Because we were in a hurry, we bought five kinds of bread and a cappuccino to go. We paid with our credit cards, and the staff just grabbed the bread with their hands to pack it – there's room for improvement! Everything was delicious!

Terrible service today. It depends on who serves you. A young man brought me the cappuccino; milk foam just dumped in and the spoon was already placed in the cup... as if it were a coffee that was sitting somewhere and was leftover.... The scone was burnt.

Me and my trivia world went there to eat breakfast before we went to our Eurostar just to have a really nice coffee and fresh sourdough. It was great atmosphere. The service was really great and the food was lovely. You really loved that treat yourself with a lovely pastry as well, we chose the raspberry thought as well.

Super slow service. Ordered our food and waited 20 minutes. After asking the waitress, she realized that they forgot about my order. In a few minutes they finally brought my food but no apologies, just as a matter of fact. Flemish people were sitting next to us and said that despite to be called Flemish bakery this place is not even close to what they would expect for food and especially service.

Terrible place, ordered a simple sandwich and had to wait more than 20min. Then it came with burnt bread. While waiting, I was standing next to the station where they prepare the sandwiches and could see how they are making them. The whole station looked very unhygienic, and the girl preparing them was not wearing any gloves.Not going back to any of their locations.

Make sure the bread is fresh! We thought we had a nice fresh baguette for lunch, but it turned out to be old and hard...

Spent almost 20 euros on 2 croissants, 1 coffee and 1 tea. And it costs 2 euros to use the toilet. I know it is King's Day but to charge your customers to use the toilet and at 2 euros, this is the worst experience I ever had. The right way to do it is at least to offset like a euro or two when someone who choses to use the toilet gets a rebate when making a purchase.

There isn't much Flemish about it. No Flemish pastries or normal bread rolls.

For several time I had a very bad experience with the service provided in this particulate place. I was in the different place of the same chain and everywhere the service was excellent. This is the only place where the service girls are extremely rude , unwilling to work. Looks like they are busy with something else or just wait when the shop is closed. They are not client oriented at all. I have several attempts to go there and every time the girls behaved like they are doing a favour for my own money. The place has an excellent location, I m sure that there are lot of visitors. And could be even more if the girls show that they are happy to provide the service and sell the service. I think the management of this chain should pay attention who works there and the way they work there. We are coming there to relax, to have a nice coffee but every time you face to unfriendly and rude behaviour. All the time there are constraints and the rules : We can not do this. You can not do this etc. It s annoying. I promised not to go there again. But today I gave the last chance and i failed. The same unfriendly attitude. No more attempt to have a coffee there. And i would like the management of this chain just to check who works there and take some actions to approve the situation. Thank you in advance PS I just read reviews below and looks like it s not only noticed by me that the staff is very slow, lazy not client oriented. So pity for such a nice place. I hope the situation would be improved and actions are taken.

Way too long a wait for things that are way too expensive!!! Instead of chatting, I would have liked my breakfast!

I ordered the banana strawberry smoothie. It looked watery and yellow. The first thing i tasted was cheap apple juice, it was disgusting. I asked what was in it: apple juice, amongst others things. Hardly a strawberry. I changed it for an orange juice. Then i bought a 'ham cheese' croissant. It cost €3,95, was tiny, and had a disgusting curry tasting paste in it. The waitress only helped people who were taking away, not the ones who were sitting at tables. She even wanted to make me pay twice. I said, I already paid. Her reply: Oh i dont know who pays and who doesn't. So this place is scamming people all day life ng with banana strawberry smoothies which hardly contain any fresh fruit, and with ham cheese croissants that are hand the price and contain ingrediënts not supposed to be there. If you add 70% Apple juice in a smoothie because you dont want to pay for fresh fruit: put it on the menu. Correct, people will not want it: why pay so much for something that is not supposed to be in a smoothie and that is cheap. If you want to put a refined curry tasting paste in your croissant because the other ingredients are so cheap they taste bland, please inform your customers. Vlaams Broodhuys looks artisanal: the truth could not be further from this. Price- quality is off, I will never go here again. They trick people into serving healthy food but its junk.

3.8 average doesn't do this little bakery justice. They offer excellent bread and pastry and really nice coffee, the staff is always friendly and welcoming and the atmosphere is calm. We don't have breakfast in Jordaan really often, but if we do - it's usually here.

Overall, the visit was okay, but we wouldn't repeat it. We were particularly disappointed by the limited selection of vegan options, both food and drinks. The service was friendly but didn't seem very knowledgeable about the menu. The café itself was cozy, and the prices were reasonable.

The service wasn't very efficient... The two young people working there were deep in conversation and couldn't have cared less about the customers... They weren't listening to them. €7.75 for a children's grilled cheese sandwich, which we had to wait 30 minutes for. We were sitting outside, and when I tried to pick it up myself (because we had to go to gym class), I was yelled at by a dark-skinned woman with a large nose ring. Never going back there again.

Had the Grilled Sourdough Beef Pastrami sandwich, hands down best grilled sandwich of my life it was delicious and crispy. 100% recommend! And Staff are great.

The food is good, but the gentleman who helped me today was unfriendly, impatient, and made me feel unsafe. If someone doesn't know which sandwich to order (while it's very quiet, so you have plenty of time for your guests), I advise against calling out six times in the future, "Just say what you want."

We walked in and bought two cans of Coke and a bottle of water- shortly after sitting down at the back of their shop, a lady came over and asked if we were ordering food, when we said we already made a purchase, she said it has to be food and that we can’t stay. “Just so you know for next time” is not good enough customer service for you to stay open in a tourist area. Know better than to kick a paying customer out in a nearly empty bread shop, no next time for us but maybe you should do better for others.

The pastrami sandwich was absolutely delicious! A great spot for breakfast, especially if you're staying nearby. It was close to our hotel, so very convenient—and definitely worth a visit.

Beautiful location, excellent croissant...

I went there with my kids for breakfast around 9am. It was Saturday morning, so people kept coming and it quickly became full, and some people were getting takeout. As other reviews have said, the food is served slowly. They make it carefully and without rushing. The plain croissants were sold out at 9am. They had chocolate and almond ones. My kids really liked the croissants. I recommend the croissants, green smoothie, mozzarella cheese salad, and morning set! The mozzarella is called a salad, but it also comes with sliced ​​bread and is quite filling. It goes well with wine! The three kinds of jam that came with the morning set were simple but very delicious. The price is not cheap, but I think the tourist spots in Amsterdam are all around this price. It was 100EUR for 7 people. I think we ordered a lot. I'll go for the mozzarella salad again.

Dutchies do amazing bread for sure as it’s a massive staple for lunch… Although a chain this place delivered with the ‘small breakfast’ being enough bread for a small family! The yogurt was also a very generous serve and maybe be part of the reason why they breed big boys here!!! Coffee was great - packed a punch and just what we needed after a very early flight. A good selection of teas were also offer. Few service issues missing cutlery, serviettes etc… Plus we ate at the tables on the front which was a little dirty due to the trash - although we later learned that Holland has recently passed a law which requires cans and bottles to be returned for deposits, great idea but the bags are ransacked - it’s a citywide issue and knowing my Dutch friends a stylish solution will be found no doubt. Thanks

Dirty tables inside; very slow service, taking into account that of all the tables only three were actually occupied. Looked like nobody of the staff actually cared of this place. The display of the bread looked untidy with focacchia falling on the other bread, with labels for absent pastries, no beautiful arrangement of the pastries on the display, freezingly cold apple-tart that should be at least at room temperature, dirt near the tables outside, juices diluted with tap water... A tourist trap it is.

The 8€ Croissant. On my way I often ordered food at this Vlaams Broodhuys at Elandsgracht. Somehow I do not like their Croissant with Ham and Cheese, so today I ordered one Croissant and requested to put one slice of Ham and one slice of Cheese on the Croissant. One cut with a knife, open the Croissant, put Ham & Cheese in it. How difficult can that be? Most sandwich stores prepare this as fast as a F1 pitstop, say 2.5 seconds. Not Vlaams Broodhuys, it was a difficult request, extra handling fee’s would be added, no problem! Make it! They could not find the Cheese, could not find the Ham. Finally one Croissant with Ham and Cheese was ready. Price: one Croissant say 3€, one slice of Ham 2.5€, one slice of Cheese 2.5€. Total 8€!!! Hilarious or a scan?

NEGATIVE!!! Terrible service!!! First time in Amsterdam and we were not told that there are extra charges to sit in cafe WE TRIED TO PAY BUT TOO LATE we had to sit on the park bench. The cafe was not crowded, we were polite offered to pay to sit but they have silly strict unfriendly rules.

Took a long time, bread tasted like it was yesterday, very expensive for what you get. Definitely not recommended.

The service was extremely slow. We had to wait for almost an hour, even though the place wasn’t very crowded. Given the high prices of the sandwiches and coffee, we expected much better service. The food itself was decent, but the long wait time ruined the overall experience. Definitely not worth the price if you’re in a hurry or expecting efficient service.

Had a nice cappuccino. But without a saucer, spoon or cookie with my coffee, I thought it was sparse. Ordered a Yuna melt and the cheese was not melted, and for this portion I think it is quite pricey. My friend ordered a tuna melt without cheese but did get cheese on it. The wait took a long time and she wanted to make the toast again, but we didn't want to wait any longer so we removed the cheese ourselves. Maybe it was a little too busy for better service. For example, when paying, they didn't ask how it tasted. For 40 euros I didn't think it was a good experience.

I went there for a cosant to eat. Service was slow even though it wasn't really busy. Anyway the crosant was tasty. I brought another pastry for my friend because they looked so beautiful. When I got home the cream from the pastry turned out to be sour. The cake wasn't cheap. You then expect it to be fresh and certainly not spoiled.

Why only a 3.9 rating🤷‍♂️ I equate that with Babu’s from Seinfeld. Eye catching storefront inviting you to come in. Stacked with different breads and pastries. I ordered what I thought was a sourdough loaf but turned out to be a loaf of buckwheat ($5.60) Not sure how that happened. But, man cannot live on sourdough alone, so I welcomed the change, however it happened. I must say it was delicious. They also serve coffee and sandwiches with a small eat in area. Normally I don't like writing reviews, but I thought this was bizarre. I was having lunch with a friend of mine, we had a coffee and two sandwiches. I ordered a flat-white and got cappuccino without saucer, spoon or sugar, just a cup. I expect if you eat at such a trendy place that you will get a good coffee. the two sandwiches we received were very sparsely filled. And the cutlery was almost thrown down. Finally we went to pay and it was 32 euros. I find this quite bizarre.

Great breakfast, a bit expensive

Klasse Frühstück und ein echt super Latte Macchiato. Wir hatten Käsesandwiches und eins mit Schinken, sowie Schokocroissants und eine Zimtrolle. Es war alles hervorragend und die Sandwiches alles andere als Standard. Es war so gut, ich habe mir ein Brot für zu Hause mitgenommen ☺️

We wanted to find the better place to have our breakfast and we found it ! The croissant, « chocolade broodje », the best cinnamon rolls on earth,… The pastries are served reheated which further enhances their absolutely delicious taste ♥️ Fresh Orange juice, apple juice, hot chocolate milk or latte are really good. We will come back tomorrow and Thursday during our stay. The prices are fair for this perfect quality and kind service of the team 😁

Partner took the Tuna sandwich, and I took the “surprise sandwich “ (front) which includes 4 different toppings! It was nice (maybe a bit more spices) and also the sitting, albeit packed, was pleasant.

I want to love this place. The bread is simply amazing. My recommendation is to take the bread TO-GO. I went once for a bit to-go and it was great. I went back the next morning to sit down and enjoy coffee and it was not great. There must have been 15 employees working. The cashier told me to sit down. After 15 minutes and and 15 employees ignoring me, I finally grabbed someone’s attention and ordered a bread basket and espresso. All-in-all I waited 30+ minutes for bread and then my cold espresso came as I was finishing my bread. The cafe was not that crowded. No idea why this is a problem. Now looking at the reviews, it seems to be a common theme.
