Though the cafe part is often bustling,the personeel are bright & enthusiastic. Everything I've ever eaten from VB is SOOOO delicious so someday I hope to sit down for a sandwich, not just pick up in a hurry. Sitting at the front must look like a Dutch romcom passing by☺️

€7.75 for a children's grilled cheese sandwich, which we had to wait 30 minutes for. We were sitting outside, and when I tried to pick it up myself (because we had to go to gym class), I was yelled at by a dark-skinned woman with a large nose ring. Never going back there again.

Had the Grilled Sourdough Beef Pastrami sandwich, hands down best grilled sandwich of my life it was delicious and crispy. 100% recommend! And Staff are great.

The food is good, but the gentleman who helped me today was unfriendly, impatient, and made me feel unsafe. If someone doesn't know which sandwich to order (while it's very quiet, so you have plenty of time for your guests), I advise against calling out six times in the future, "Just say what you want."

We walked in and bought two cans of Coke and a bottle of water- shortly after sitting down at the back of their shop, a lady came over and asked if we were ordering food, when we said we already made a purchase, she said it has to be food and that we can’t stay. “Just so you know for next time” is not good enough customer service for you to stay open in a tourist area. Know better than to kick a paying customer out in a nearly empty bread shop, no next time for us but maybe you should do better for others.

Mmmm not good. Service is chaotic, bread and pastries seem day-old, the place needs a good clean, and both customers and staff look stressed. I know I'm stressed! Will I ever get served? Try them, but you won't want to come back.

The pastrami sandwich was absolutely delicious! A great spot for breakfast, especially if you're staying nearby. It was close to our hotel, so very convenient—and definitely worth a visit.

Beautiful location, excellent croissant...

I went there with my kids for breakfast around 9am. It was Saturday morning, so people kept coming and it quickly became full, and some people were getting takeout. As other reviews have said, the food is served slowly. They make it carefully and without rushing. The plain croissants were sold out at 9am. They had chocolate and almond ones. My kids really liked the croissants. I recommend the croissants, green smoothie, mozzarella cheese salad, and morning set! The mozzarella is called a salad, but it also comes with sliced ​​bread and is quite filling. It goes well with wine! The three kinds of jam that came with the morning set were simple but very delicious. The price is not cheap, but I think the tourist spots in Amsterdam are all around this price. It was 100EUR for 7 people. I think we ordered a lot. I'll go for the mozzarella salad again.

Dutchies do amazing bread for sure as it’s a massive staple for lunch… Although a chain this place delivered with the ‘small breakfast’ being enough bread for a small family! The yogurt was also a very generous serve and maybe be part of the reason why they breed big boys here!!! Coffee was great - packed a punch and just what we needed after a very early flight. A good selection of teas were also offer. Few service issues missing cutlery, serviettes etc… Plus we ate at the tables on the front which was a little dirty due to the trash - although we later learned that Holland has recently passed a law which requires cans and bottles to be returned for deposits, great idea but the bags are ransacked - it’s a citywide issue and knowing my Dutch friends a stylish solution will be found no doubt. Thanks

Dirty tables inside; very slow service, taking into account that of all the tables only three were actually occupied. Looked like nobody of the staff actually cared of this place. The display of the bread looked untidy with focacchia falling on the other bread, with labels for absent pastries, no beautiful arrangement of the pastries on the display, freezingly cold apple-tart that should be at least at room temperature, dirt near the tables outside, juices diluted with tap water... A tourist trap it is.

The 8€ Croissant. On my way I often ordered food at this Vlaams Broodhuys at Elandsgracht. Somehow I do not like their Croissant with Ham and Cheese, so today I ordered one Croissant and requested to put one slice of Ham and one slice of Cheese on the Croissant. One cut with a knife, open the Croissant, put Ham & Cheese in it. How difficult can that be? Most sandwich stores prepare this as fast as a F1 pitstop, say 2.5 seconds. Not Vlaams Broodhuys, it was a difficult request, extra handling fee’s would be added, no problem! Make it! They could not find the Cheese, could not find the Ham. Finally one Croissant with Ham and Cheese was ready. Price: one Croissant say 3€, one slice of Ham 2.5€, one slice of Cheese 2.5€. Total 8€!!! Hilarious or a scan?

NEGATIVE!!! Terrible service!!! First time in Amsterdam and we were not told that there are extra charges to sit in cafe WE TRIED TO PAY BUT TOO LATE we had to sit on the park bench. The cafe was not crowded, we were polite offered to pay to sit but they have silly strict unfriendly rules.

Took a long time, bread tasted like it was yesterday, very expensive for what you get. Definitely not recommended.

The service was extremely slow. We had to wait for almost an hour, even though the place wasn’t very crowded. Given the high prices of the sandwiches and coffee, we expected much better service. The food itself was decent, but the long wait time ruined the overall experience. Definitely not worth the price if you’re in a hurry or expecting efficient service.

Had a nice cappuccino. But without a saucer, spoon or cookie with my coffee, I thought it was sparse. Ordered a Yuna melt and the cheese was not melted, and for this portion I think it is quite pricey. My friend ordered a tuna melt without cheese but did get cheese on it. The wait took a long time and she wanted to make the toast again, but we didn't want to wait any longer so we removed the cheese ourselves. Maybe it was a little too busy for better service. For example, when paying, they didn't ask how it tasted. For 40 euros I didn't think it was a good experience.

If you sit inside you pay 3.25 for a croissant, which is 2 euros if you order it at the counter. Rip off!!!

I went there for a cosant to eat. Service was slow even though it wasn't really busy. Anyway the crosant was tasty. I brought another pastry for my friend because they looked so beautiful. When I got home the cream from the pastry turned out to be sour. The cake wasn't cheap. You then expect it to be fresh and certainly not spoiled.

Why only a 3.9 rating🤷‍♂️ I equate that with Babu’s from Seinfeld. Eye catching storefront inviting you to come in. Stacked with different breads and pastries. I ordered what I thought was a sourdough loaf but turned out to be a loaf of buckwheat ($5.60) Not sure how that happened. But, man cannot live on sourdough alone, so I welcomed the change, however it happened. I must say it was delicious. They also serve coffee and sandwiches with a small eat in area. The photo of the sandwich is my creation 😌A solid 4.5. That’s all for now!

Normally I don't like writing reviews, but I thought this was bizarre. I was having lunch with a friend of mine, we had a coffee and two sandwiches. I ordered a flat-white and got cappuccino without saucer, spoon or sugar, just a cup. I expect if you eat at such a trendy place that you will get a good coffee. the two sandwiches we received were very sparsely filled. And the cutlery was almost thrown down. Finally we went to pay and it was 32 euros. I find this quite bizarre.

Klasse Frühstück und ein echt super Latte Macchiato. Wir hatten Käsesandwiches und eins mit Schinken, sowie Schokocroissants und eine Zimtrolle. Es war alles hervorragend und die Sandwiches alles andere als Standard. Es war so gut, ich habe mir ein Brot für zu Hause mitgenommen ☺️

We wanted to find the better place to have our breakfast and we found it ! The croissant, « chocolade broodje », the best cinnamon rolls on earth,… The pastries are served reheated which further enhances their absolutely delicious taste ♥️ Fresh Orange juice, apple juice, hot chocolate milk or latte are really good. We will come back tomorrow and Thursday during our stay. The prices are fair for this perfect quality and kind service of the team 😁

Partner took the Tuna sandwich, and I took the “surprise sandwich “ (front) which includes 4 different toppings! It was nice (maybe a bit more spices) and also the sitting, albeit packed, was pleasant.

I want to love this place. The bread is simply amazing. My recommendation is to take the bread TO-GO. I went once for a bit to-go and it was great. I went back the next morning to sit down and enjoy coffee and it was not great. There must have been 15 employees working. The cashier told me to sit down. After 15 minutes and and 15 employees ignoring me, I finally grabbed someone’s attention and ordered a bread basket and espresso. All-in-all I waited 30+ minutes for bread and then my cold espresso came as I was finishing my bread. The cafe was not that crowded. No idea why this is a problem. Now looking at the reviews, it seems to be a common theme.

Extremely rude staff and snail pace service. How is this place still around?

Sadly, it was a very bad experience. The service was so weak. No one helped us finding a seat or gave us a menu. When we ordered our food it was said that it would be ready in 10 minutes but it didn’t came until we got up and told them after 30 minutes of waiting . The waitor used the word “whatever” thinking we wouldn’t hear it when we told him our orders came wrong(after waiting so long). Even though the inside of the cafe looks nice at first sight, it is a cramped place to sit. Also the food wasn’t tasty at all. It wasn’t worth the price. I wouldn’t go there again.

The two serving ladies are by far the most hospitable I have experienced at Vlaams Broodhuys Brood Hits since the first branches were established in Amsterdam in 2004/2005. These ladies are so kind and welcoming and humorous that I felt like staying and ordering to the brink of bankruptcy. The bread can be rather sour. The pastry is addictive. And the prices are above my paygrade and weekly spending budget of roughly €65/7 days for a 1 person household. Is a more democratic price range on the horizon even considering the international pricing agreements for soil nutrients?

Ordered cake! I mentioned that it had to be really fresh. Saw her write it down. It came out of the freezer🙈 took a bowl of salad with me, it turned out to be on the date. Was so excited about them. And I loved coming there, I live nearby. But I really didn't think this was a service. Still looking for another baker.

At a bakery you expect fresh bread & croissants, but you don't get that here. I will not recommend buying (fresh) bread here.

Tired of shopping, come and have a cup of coffee. If you order 2 cups, you will get 2 small love cookies for free. The big cookie is also delicious ❤️The latte is fragrant

Nice bakery in Amsterdam Great spot for a break during a long day of walking

It was really nice and tasted real good… Nice waiters and we were full for a day after this meal. We're a bit cramped so I wouldn't recommend for a family but for one or two it's perfect.

It’s very tiny and crowded atmosphere. The waiter said we would wait for 5-10 min max for their toast. We ended up waiting for 30 min for a toast which had nothing special. You can literally go and have a better breakfast by Albert Hein Bakery section. At the end of 30 min, they brought the wrong order and we ended up cancelling it. Not gonna lie their boiled egg was pretty good cooked. Granola bow even comes with packaged yoghurt so you pour everything in. Don’t waste your time here.

They canceled my order THREE times, they were not accommodating at all. When they finally took my order the guy who made it decided to add an egg salad when I explicitly told the waiter exactly what I wanted. Then they refused to remake it even though it was his mistake to not get the order right, as the waiter knew what I wanted. Also they weren’t even apologetic they were laughing. DO NOT RECOMMEND.

Quiet and cozy with delicious choices to choose!

I love this place, I've known it for a long time. The salespeople are adorable, kind, always smiling; the drinks (latte, cappuccino), cakes and croissants are magnificent. I also like sandwiches, usually we buy “avocado and feta” and smoked salmon. Very warm welcome and good service! Thank you very much Chantal and your team!

Service is extremely rude! Would never sat a foot in there again. On the door as well as online it says that they are open from 8am. So on Monday morning (Oct 30) we went a few minutes after 8 and ordered some coffee and croissant. As soon as we sat down the woman started yelling at us, saying that we are not allowed to sit there before 9am and literally kicked us out. With the coffee and croissant we took a seat outside as she had already prepared the outside tables and seats. As soon as we sat down she came out and was even more furious because apparently we also weren't allowed to sit there. Monday mornings might not be for everyone, but this is no excuse for treating customers in such a rude way. She might better look for another job with no customer contact.

Vaak redelijk vriendelijk personeel...tot zover het goede nieuws. Deze zaak verkoopt matige waar voor veel te hoge prijzen! Kneiterharde broden van 4-5-6-7 euro die een dag later al echt oneetbaar zijn. Croissants, en zoete broodjes zijn ok maar overstijgen qua kwaliteit nauwelijks supermarktkwaliteit, en dat voor 3-4 euro. Precies dezelfde!!!!belegde broodjes kosten het dubbele als je ze daar opeet, waanzin!! Vaak is op de helft van de dag bijna alles al op aan stokbrood, kleine en zoete deegwaren... Klap op de vuurpijl, 10!!! Euro afgerekend voor een boterham met zalm. Dit gaat nergens meer over. Dit is een keten waar de eigenaar zeer waarschijnlijk een goede boterham aan heeft verdiend, het loopt (nog) goed, en het geeft geen pas om zo met je klanten om te gaan; zij betalen zijn/haar salaris! Ja, er is een zware Corona-periode geweest, maar dit geldt voor de meeste ondernemers en ook daar maak ik dit niet mee. Wat de buurt nodig heeft is een buurtbakker voor iedereen met normale(re) prijzen en goede waar. Ik hoop oprecht dat VB dit gaat inzien en de juiste weg weer vindt.

Hidden gem around the corner. I went there for breakfast/brunch. One of the best brunches in the city in my opinion. You should definitely try the chef’s selection of sandwiches. It comes with 4 different pastes on small breads, and every one of them was delicious. Croissants were very good also. They bring big jars of nut paste and jam to the table to enjoy with their delicious breads.

Als echte Vlaming komen we al 10 jaar iedere keer weer bij jullie. We merken dat de kwaliteit achteruit gaat: oppassen!

I found this shop on my way to the laundromat on my trip. I loved their fresh baguette and I also got a small container of their truffle egg salad. Both together was absolutely fabulous!

I got the sampler of four different sandwiches, they came to the table open faced. The chicken and mackerel were my favorite, the truffled egg was also delicious. Highly recommend the sho with fresh baked bread and yummy desserts. Also the best cappuccino this trip, bonus points because it was served very hot!

Panetteria con dolci e caffetteria. Ci è piaciuto tutto. Vari tipi di pane, che a noi piace spizzicare mentre passeggiamo. Dolci e caffetteria che abbiamo assaggiato come colazione. Piaciute molto le tortine alla frutta. Domani ci torniamo per il brunch... Dei vari bar che abbiamo visto è quello che in assoluto ci ha soddisfatto di più.

The pastries are nice but not the best place for brunch/breakfast. Flo's on the opposite corner is much better for sandwiches.

Coffee alright. Food only okay. Waitress looks reluctant, spilled a bit of my coffee on the table and on my shoe. I had to wipe the table myself after 5 minutes. In fact all of the tables would benefit from a wipe down.

Really bad service! We've waited for 30 mins, then we've asked if they might forgotten our tea, Juice and muffin. We've got a really rude answer that it's crowded. So We've waited for another 20 min. People coming way later then is already left the cafe again. So we had to go to the rude staff again. They were really passed. Finally We've got our already paid stuff, the waitress literally threw it on our table... instead of saying sorry...
