Bakkerij van Vessem in Museumkwartier

The bread? Excellent. The welcome? Not so much. I’ve come here often, but a staff member shouted and waved me away because I was holding my 4-month-old calm puppy, the size of a croissant, in my arms. Hardly a big bad wolf. Such a pity: wonderful bread, but an unexpectedly intolerant attitude. I expected bakers to be from a warmer breed🥐

The staff seems more focused on personal conversations and themselves than on serving customers. • September 16th: Extensive complaints were made in front of customers about opening and closing shift preferences. • September 17th: While three employees were busy helping the only other customer, my two children were completely ignored. Since the three employees needed five minutes to help one customer, the line had grown. Then, they cheerfully continued to process the line of customers without any regard for two children, aged 5 and 9. (Or even noticing that they had been standing right in front of them for five minutes.) In my opinion, this comes across as unprofessional, disinterested, and above all, very unfriendly.

maybe the best bread in Amsterdam. I say maybe because I didn’t try them all, but from what I know this one has the best bread, and whichever you choose you didn’t make a mistake.

Bread quality is declining, prices are rising. More often, "airy" bread with holes, see photo. Service is clinical.

100% would recommend it. Food is amazing, specially the Brownie and Pain au Chocolat, and personnel was supper nice. Really good quality-price relation

This morning, I visited a bakery and noticed a boy who appeared to have a cold. He had a runny nose and kept touching it with his hand. Without cleaning his hand afterward, he handled bread and gave it to customers. It was extremely unhygienic and quite unpleasant to witness.

Passed-by during the early hours of the morning of Sunday the 20th of October, and had myself two Chocolate Croissants along with a Cheese Ham Croissant. Both tasted great and incredibly fresh before 9 o’clock. Quick and good service too.

We went there the first day we arrived in Amsterdam. And we came back every day until the day we left! We took some things to go home because we loved their bread so much, their meat puffs (a local specialty apparently) were to die for! And the very nice waiter, thank you for your welcome

A very good quality pastry and bread but the most RUDE staff I ever saw! Grumpy, no smile and bad customer service attitude There’s enough good bakeries in Amsterdam and they serve with a smile and in a polite manner unlike Bakkerij van Vassem

Nice neighborhood, cute and delicious bakery

Yesterday I ate a cake from Bakkerij Van Vessem with friends from Amsterdam. What an incredibly delicious pastry. I think it's an apron with a piece of spice, whipped cream and red fruit!! Super!!!

Shop looks nice. However, the cheese croissant at EUR 2.55 was on the dry side.

I tried the Dutch style sourdough after it was recommended, and it was delicious. The price is good too.

Baked goods are good. Coffee is average and served too hot, definitely go elsewhere for coffee..

Pequeño rinconcito con panes y bollería local y francesa de calidad. Un croissant con un buen alveolado y sabor a mantequilla y un rico pain au chocolat. Tienen unos bancos en la entrada perfectos para un café rápido No dejen de probar sus panes!!

The baked goods are okay but unfortunately service is non-existent. Definitely skip the coffee unless you want to burn your tongue!

Bought croissants to go. They accept cash but you need to put it in a machine for payment, not hand it to the staff, for hygiene reasons. This is surprising but a good idea since they’re also handling food.

My favourite bakery, wonderful quality breads and pastries, great choice, always friendly service and perfectly convenient working hours - open EVERY DAY FROM 7:00!! Perfect for daily fresh bread!
