Super fun tapas bar. Delicious food and excellent wine recommendations. Highly recommended!

The tapas are overpriced for what you get, but the real problem is how pushy and annoying the waiters are. They keep asking if you want a drink, even while you're still finishing yours, and they'll take away your plates while there's still food on them.

Very tasty cava and very friendly staff

Last visited: July 2024. Lovely place with good service. Dining either inside or out but can be rather cosy outside. You will see when there. Good selection and food and drinks. Pics of just a few during last visit.

A delightful neighbourhood cava bar within walking distance from where I was staying. Recommended by someone at reception at the hotel as their top local place to go for decent tapas and wine at reasonable prices . Small , but full of character. Service was excellent and tapas were very good for the price. I was there both times for Happy hour, but next time will stay for their dinner menu. Not to be missed .

I’ve never seen a better menu than this bar. Tapas varieties and sangria are very delicious. The employees are very sympathetic and friendly.

The tapas we ordered were really delicious, apart from that I also really liked the drinks, especially the sangria. It is usually very crowded on the weekends and it can be hard to find a place, but on weekdays you can find a place more easily.

With a bit of luck, I managed to snag a spot at the bar on a pleasantly busy Sunday. Great atmosphere, friendly service, a nice selection of wines, and delicious food. Highly recommended!

We had a wonderful meal and drank fantastic cava. We also really enjoyed the 0.0 cava. The service was attentive and pleasant. My only drawback was the volume of the music (although it was a very good playlist), which made it difficult for me to hear my companions and make myself understood. But that's a personal preference. And I prefer to sit at a standard table instead of a high table, but they don't have those. Otherwise, we had a fantastic evening!

Delicious tapas! We sat outside and the service was fantastic.

The food was fine, but the overall experience was very disappointing. We were repeatedly told we could only stay until a certain time, and we had to pay ten minutes beforehand. To our dismay, we discovered a cigarette butt in the bottle of water that had been placed on the table upon arrival, and which we had already drunk. There was barely an apology, which was very disappointing.

Everything was fantastic. The Sangria Cava 😍 and let's not forget the Patatas bravas and albondigas. Delicious! Great service!

We were walking ins for dinner and had no issues. We did a pre-set tapa selection for two and pitcher of sangria. Everything was delicious and portions were just right to have room for dessert after.

I often walked past it and always got a weak feeling, now that I've been there I give it a wide berth.

I had a lovely meal here with a friend last week. The tapas dishes were absolutely delicious! We also had great service! The music in the background and the sangria made it perfect.

The food is delicious, fresh, and tastes great, but it's a bit pricey for the large portions. A meat platter costs €20 (!) per person, and it's for two people or more. Personally, I thought the portions were a bit small. We had a good evening and a good meal. But if you're on a tight budget, don't go here.

Nice place for a bite and a cava. Nice staff. Young audience. We will come back soon.

🍷🐾 Great wine bar in Utrecht where your dog is also welcome (outside)! 🌇💛 One of our favorite wine bars in Utrecht! We've been here quite a few times, and we've always been welcome outside on the terrace with our dog 🐶🍷 – super nice. Inside, it's usually very busy and you sit close together, so that's less than ideal (and I'm not sure if dogs are allowed there either) 🐾🚫. The first few times, the staff was always incredibly friendly and helpful 😊, although lately we've noticed a change in the faces and not everyone is as welcoming anymore. (Not rude, mind you, but it could be a bit warmer sometimes.) We also think the quality of the tapas has deteriorated a bit 🍴 – hopefully, it will return to the way it used to be, because we loved coming here for the fresh, generous appetizer platters 🧀🍇! But despite those minor drawbacks, the overall experience is still fantastic. So far they have the best bravas I've eaten in The Netherlands! Great selection of cavas and wines, food was delicious, prices quite good and the waiters were all super nice. We'll be back for sure!

I would give irrational amounts of money and/or belongings for that delicious Camembert. On that note, prices were not SO irrational! Bread was breading Heineken was heinekening

Really good tapas, charming waiters, good atmosphere. 10/ 10 would recommend and come again! What stood out: homemade sangria and deliciously crunchy patatas bravas! (It was really crowded though).

We went to Bar Cava on a casual Wednesday evening, it was already quite crowded at 6pm, so we could only get a spot at the bar. As the name already gives away, it’s not really a wine bar compared to some other locations in Utrecht, but for sure they have some good wines on their list! The waiters are very friendly and able to tell us a bit more about the wines and come up alternatives for wines from the list that weren’t available at that time. The seafood plateau is a real must try. We had a nice time!

Today we went in for a drink with a group of people where we were told in a friendly way that we would have to leave after 1.5 hours because of reservations. This was also the last time they would be friendly because the rest of the experience the service was hasty and short (while the place was almost empty). After the first round of drinks we had had enough of the staff and the loud music so we went to pay. Later when we looked at the receipt we saw that the 2 bottles of water that were OPENED on the table upon arrival and not touched by us were also on it for €11,-. This is simply outrageous and the reason why we will always avoid this place.

Nice tent with cute little terrace, unfortunately not in the sun in the evening. Well, heaters. Food was surprisingly good, tasty tappas, good portions! Staff was friendly and fast service. I was disappointed with the sangria, both the red and the white. Toilets had no soap, better maintained!

Great bar for a drink, after dinner or late at night. Mainly because of the cosy atmosphere and the locals who all seem to know one another. Pricing is reasonable for Utrecht city centre although I was not impressed by the €7.25 glass of cava. Free still water is available upon request.

Heerlijke tapas, gezellig kader, vriendelijk personeel. Geen grote porties, maar wel heel lekker! Aanrader! Wij namen met vijf personen twee tapasplanken en enkele losse tapas. Prijs/kwaliteit zeker ok.

If you are looking for fun, good food and excellent service, Bar Cava is the place for you. The food is delicious and served fairly quickly by friendly and attentive staff. The environment in Bar Cava is attractive, cozy and there is a chance that it will be an escalation evening ;) All in all, a great place with great staff.

“Fantastische sfeer en heerlijke cava!” Bar Cava is een echte aanrader voor liefhebbers van bubbels en gezelligheid. De locatie straalt een warme en uitnodigende sfeer uit, ideaal voor een avondje uit met vrienden of een intiem moment met je partner. De cava-selectie is indrukwekkend, en het personeel neemt echt de tijd om je te adviseren en de perfecte keuze te vinden. De hapjes waren vers en smaakvol, perfect afgestemd op de dranken. Vooral de tapas waren een hoogtepunt! De service was vriendelijk en attent, zonder opdringerig te zijn. Je voelt je hier echt welkom. Ik kom zeker terug om meer van hun selectie te proeven en opnieuw van de fijne ambiance te genieten. Een verborgen parel waar je blij van wordt!
