We were well received and had a delicious meal. Everything moves very calmly, and you don't have to rush to make a choice. There is a large staff that is also very helpful. A different chair or an extra cushion was no problem at all. Portions are always generous and very flavorful.

The food was very tasty. The person in our group with a gluten and milk allergy also had options. More importantly: she had no complaints afterwards! It was busy and quite noisy inside. And the delivery of extra fries and the desserts took quite a long time. Overall, very satisfied.

The turnover was top-notch again. Schnitzel steak & crispy chicken pieces; everything was perfectly seasoned and the temperature was excellent. However, I do have trouble with such a large schnitzel. Couldn't you offer a choice between a large or a slightly smaller schnitzel so that those with smaller appetites don't have to leave their schnitzel untouched? That is a shame.

Yesterday, six of us had a wonderful meal at De Beren! The food was good and the service was truly top-notch. They were incredibly helpful in considering an egg allergy within our party; dishes were adapted without any problems so that everyone could eat without worry. The atmosphere and ambiance were pleasant, although it was occasionally a bit noisy due to the bouncy castle outside with the children. Definitely recommended!

I love going there, a nice place to eat! Friendly service, even on King's Day! Delicious food prepared with care, compliments to the chef! All in all, an experience I can recommend to everyone! The only downside is that you have to go up stairs to the toilet, which is difficult for people with reduced mobility. A toilet downstairs could attract even more people.

De Beren Houten is always a good choice for a casual dinner; the courtyard terrace is lively, offers excellent value for money, and the service is always friendly and efficient.

Dinner is simply good; you get exactly what is described for a more than reasonable price. The service is good with very friendly staff. The little ones have also been thought of; you can sit outside the restaurant, where there is, among other things, a bouncy castle for children so that parents can sit quietly for a while.

2026, visited again on August 11th, ate great wok prawns, too bad the bread was forgotten. Desserts and coffee also had to be asked for separately and were served separately. Salads were nice and large. And the service was naturally friendly. Added a star for the food. 2026 been there several times this year, the service remains friendly but the service is getting worse, last time drinks were wrong or forgotten several times. Fries forgotten with 2 dishes, even after reporting it didn't get through. The food was good but for this price it could be just a bit better, hotter, more vegetables. 2025 4 stars, if the food were just a bit warmer (hotter) and service (waiting staff?) made fewer mistakes 5 stars, most common mistakes are bringing the wrong food or forgetting food. Otherwise always fine, friendly service ☺

I booked the inside terrace, but didn't do my homework and didn't know it was located in a mall-like central area, next to a bouncy castle. Luckily, we were able to move to the outside terrace. It was, despite it's view of Houten's industrial area, a pleasant place to have dinner. The food was great and so was the staff!

Initially, it seemed impossible to redeem the voucher, but a friendly employee took immediate action and called the company selling the vouchers. Lots of parasols and pleasant music (which could be a tad softer, by the way), and really nice staff, except for one older lady who rolled her eyes because we wanted to have high tea outside instead of inside. She found that peculiar...... The other staff were incredibly nice and efficient! Good value for money too. In short, worth repeating 😊

Always a good experience at De Beren Houten. It might not be the coziest building when you arrive because it is located in the middle of a multi-shop complex. But you don't notice that inside; there is also an outdoor terrace and the staff is always friendly! The food is always good at De Beren anyway.

The food was good this time; the carpaccio was slightly less than usual. But still fine. The service was top-notch, with a very cheerful young man who helped us. I find the atmosphere inside warm, and on the terrace, well, a bit less so, but I understand that this is just how it is because of the bouncy castle for the kids, which we really like. We also sat on the terrace to be close to the kids.

We had an extensive lunch. It was very tasty. The staff was very friendly. The moment we sat down with two young children, we were immediately asked if they would like to help set up the bouncy castle. The kids even managed to eat in between jumping.

We had a World Cup menu. Soup and garlic prawns delicious! They had forgotten our main course. Apologies offered! Satay with peanut sauce was fine, and pork tenderloin with mushrooms too. Dame blanche with warm sauce and Martini in a fitting glass this time! So, a success. It was also pleasantly busy, which is of course a good sign! It was a nice value menu!

Update July 2026: Celebrated a birthday at De Beren with 9 people. Enjoyed a lovely dinner at a large table. The entire party considered the dinner a success. Tasty dishes, friendly service. It's a pity the desserts weren't served at the same time. Everyone was already finished and 3 people still had to wait for their tea, coffee, and espresso martini. Something to keep in mind. Until next time... hopefully on the lovely outdoor terrace... December 2024: It was decorated so nicely, already in the Christmas spirit. The service was quick and friendly. Enjoyed the spare ribs; this time they were really steaming hot and seasoned with the skewers, that was pure enjoyment. Fries now come in separate portions, and you get them per party first, then you can order more later. At first we thought that was odd, but it turned out to be convenient, because now you have a fresh portion of warm fries after the spare ribs, which tastes better! It is a bit drafty in some spots, though, because 2 large doors to the indoor terrace are open; that's a downside. Nice menu too. See you next time, Beren. Update April 25: It's Beren Houten's birthday! Enjoyed the spare ribs again, this time with soy sauce and BBQ. A nice beer with bitterballen beforehand. It was nice and busy and the service was quick. Until next time.

You feel more than welcome here from the very first moment. The owners' hospitality is truly radiating: with visible love for their staff, their business, and even the presentation of everything on the table. You notice this in every detail. We took the Kruidvat high tea offer (buy one get one free) for lunch, and what a treat that was — generous, festive, and beautifully served. Choice overload? Absolutely. Tummy full? Definitely. And that with two vegetarians in our party, who were perfectly accommodated in the arrangement; really well done. According to their own website, the high tea revolves around sweet and savory treats with 1.5 hours of unlimited tea; our expectations were exceeded by what we experienced: enjoying ourselves, catching up, and something tasty on the table time and again. Moreover, you can simply dine for as long as you like, which makes it extra relaxing. There is a beautiful terrace outside, pleasant air conditioning inside, and everything was spotlessly clean: cutlery, plates, glasses, *and* the toilets. Free parking completes the picture, and the location in that surprisingly beautiful shopping center is truly a hidden gem. NB: they serve real Coca-Cola and host large parties and events. In short: let yourself be pleasantly surprised at De Beren in Houten — this is one of those places where you walk out with a full stomach and an even fuller smile. (NEVER go to De Beren in Leerdam)

Fine place to eat, but inside it looks like a traditional brown pub. A fresh coat of paint wouldn't hurt and, in my opinion, would improve the taste.

During the World Cup promotion, the Carpatio was charged at 2.50 twice, which is a shame, but it was indeed on the menu. The fries were lukewarm, and the fried potatoes had a peculiar taste, but according to the chef, that is due to the special bear spices. The main courses were fine.

You wouldn't expect such a wonderfully nice and romantically decorated restaurant in an industrial estate.

No superlatives. A simple and good restaurant. Not haute cuisine, but cozy, good service. Something for everyone. You have to create the atmosphere yourself.

Went for high tea on Sunday afternoon and were served super friendly by the staff. It was fruity, even the owners were running around just as fast. What a wonderful team spirit.

Had high tea via a Kruidvat deal. Really tasty and fresh. I was here for high tea 2 years ago as well; back then it was a bit more extensive, you could choose tea herbs, and you got fruit and really more of a "high tea".
