Had a lovely lunch with the six of us. Beautiful place and good food. Neat presentation and the dishes were delicious.

Well… torn between two minds. The ladies were too busy, the place was too crowded, and then you start snapping… relatable, but not nice. When things quieted down, they became nicer too. So I was right after all. I don't eat cheese. So I asked if the pesto was made with cheese; no answer. Asked again; no answer. She was just typing that I didn't want cheese pesto. Then it turned out they had put a spin on it that I hadn't wanted. On top of my delicious, crusty sandwiches sat a tomato pesto that indeed had no cheese, but tasted awful with the carpaccio. So I would have preferred NO pesto. Don't always think for someone else, for God's sake, just ask! I pay 16.- for BOTH pesto AND aged cheese AND pine nuts, and I get nothing in return but a whole lot of mismatched tomato tapenade. I couldn't taste any of the carpaccio. I didn't get any pine nuts either, but I did get sunflower seeds. My husband's steak tartare was divine, but can we have some bread with it? Instead of a mini slice of thinly toasted toast? They charge a lot of money but prefer not to give anything... That's a shame, because the flavor is definitely there... good place though.

What a gem in Hattem! We found Bij de Jongens completely by chance, and I'm so happy we did. The chef's creativity, the ideas behind the menu, and the combinations of flavors were incredible. Honestly, the food felt Michelin-star worthy, but at a very reasonable price. Such a special find, and I would absolutely go back if I'm ever in the area again.

The restaurant is in the best location in this beautiful little town. The food was delicious and the prices reasonable. Very friendly service. Despite the restaurant being full, we didn't have to wait too long. Highly recommended. And then a quick visit to the nearby chocolate shop!

It is truly very rare that I post a review of a restaurant. But this was such a positive experience that I simply couldn't resist! There were three of us here, and for a very reasonable price, we had an incredibly delicious, good, and surprising meal. Some dishes featured exciting combinations, ranging from more exotic to very ordinary ingredients. Others were slightly more traditional, but executed excellently. And then 5 proper courses, plus 2 amuse-bouches and snacks, for 69 euros. Of this quality! I am not a wine drinker, so regarding the wine pairing, I can't say much more than that my table companions certainly enjoyed it. Added to that was the service, which was simply very pleasant. Friendly and attentive without being overly intrusive. And personal preferences were effortlessly taken into account as well. Highly recommended!

Had lunch here on the hottest day ever. No air conditioning inside, so the terrace. Very hot! Standard Dutch lunch menu with reasonable prices. Large terrace. Friendly service. Men's toilet rather small for a place like this, but clean. Will come back again when it's cooler.

What a wonderful afternoon we had here. The dishes not only looked beautiful but tasted fantastic too. The small bowl with the fresh dip and pomegranate seeds was a particularly delicious addition to our lunch. Everything was perfectly prepared and fresh. It is clear that the cooking here is done with great care. We will definitely be back.

Had a nice time sitting with a glass of rosé. The people were very friendly. Even to the people who were "complaining" that the food took so long to arrive. Even though it had been explained that there were only 2 people in the kitchen.

Fantastic restaurant - we were visiting from Amsterdam for the weekend and enjoyed a delicious dinner. Each course on the surprise menu was great - nice flavours and creatively presented. The service is really friendly and the atmosphere is welcoming. The wine recommendations from the owner were also great! One of the best dining experiences we’ve had in a long time!

We finally managed to have dinner at the boys' place. It's a nice, atmospheric place for lunch. We ordered the mushroom salad and eggs Benedict. Both were good; the mushrooms could have been a bit more flavorful, but otherwise, the salad was good. Be warned: it's a huge portion. The cappuccino here was also very good. I'm curious about their dinner.

We had a wonderful lunch on the terrace, enjoying the beautiful weather. The bells of the nearby church chimed every fifteen minutes. We were served quickly and by very friendly staff. The lunch was delicious and very affordable. Parking was free on the street near the restaurant.

For her birthday, I took my mother to Bij de Jongens for a five-course dinner (surprise menu). It was absolutely fantastic. The food was delicious, beautiful, and original. The service was superb. It was truly star-worthy! And all for a great price. We even got two appetizers on the house, so we actually had seven courses. I've never eaten as well as I did here in my life. Go there!!

We had another delicious (and surprisingly delicious) meal at De Jongens! Luckily, there was a spot for two under the non-smoking awning without a reservation (smokers are welcome on the large terrace). For dinner, you can choose from a three-course or more-course surprise menu, and dietary requirements and preferences are well-considered. All the dishes were delicious, with a few delightful appetizers in between. This was pure indulgence! Thanks and see you soon!

Café with a fantastic interior and service. The food wasn't exactly my taste, but it was beautifully prepared and hot. I had Mozzarella and mango, which is a bun with mozzarella, lots (too much) tomato salsa, pesto, heart lettuce and mango. The service was friendly, but it was busy, so there was a transition where we considered leaving after we had finished our drinks, because the waiter hadn't taken our order. The waiter came after some time and we also got our food. Long after we had finished all our drinks. It's clean and the toilets are beautiful. And then there was the detail that the church bells played for 30 minutes! Really nice carillon, but it went on for far too long. The café can't help that, but it took the peak of our visit that we could hardly talk to each other.

We were looking for a quick bite on a layover to Nijmegen and stumbled upon this place. We had a delicious meal in a relaxed atmosphere with friendly service. Highly recommended!

Last night we were treated to a surprise 3-course meal. It was fantastic, and we had a blast, especially because the menu was so surprising, but above all, so delicious. Well done, guys, and of course, the ladies too.

Unfortunately, we didn't eat here. We only had coffee and cake, and after dinner, we had coffee at one of the neighbors'. There, we saw what was being served, and oh, it looked so good. We regretted not eating here!!! Better luck next time.

As Zwolle locals, we love coming here for a wonderful gastronomic treat. The service is exceptionally pleasant and welcoming. The atmosphere was a bit affected by a few boisterous guests, but that's obviously beyond the staff's control. Highly recommended for those who appreciate culinary delights, and relatively affordable.

We didn't find the host very friendly No menu to make a free choice regarding food..only something to drink Oh yes and there was also someone who was re-organizing tables and chairs that were already in the right place and that with a very unfriendly face! Not our terrace!

Not convincingly satisfied. After lunch the menu is changed and you can only use a drinks menu. The choice is very limited and too expensive for what you can order. Staff not really involved, grabs a bottle of beer as you walk past while it was not completely empty. Not really worth repeating.

Friendly, correct and they knew everything about the food and the wines. I have a new favorite. I would not give a lower score than a 10.

What a fantastic discovery. Great food, all works of art on the plate that were very special in taste and super tasty!! The "boys" make the evening into one great experience, thanks to the chefs and the boys. The dessert specially made for our wedding day was more than a crown on the evening!!!! It's just a pity that 1 guest who only came to drink something and sat next to us and through them we experienced as an intrusion on the atmosphere of our evening. But nevertheless, you will definitely see us again!

Last Sunday, a friend and I stopped at Bij De Jongens in Hattem after a motorcycle ride. We were immediately welcomed by Bas! The drinks were delicious, we were well looked after and the staff was very friendly. The location is beautiful and the terrace had a nice and cosy atmosphere. I will definitely come back to eat something. In short, highly recommended!

The atmosphere was relaxed, the service friendly and fast, and the view from the terrace was perfect for people watching and relaxing. Incredibly nice, tasteful experience! When booking I asked if vegan was an option, and that was no problem. We were very surprised by all the taste and color sensations on the plate, this was really a party. Enjoyed from start to finish, also the super friendly men in the service. Tip; go for the vegetable menu, you will be amazed!!

You wouldn't believe it, but two reservations with the same last name caused a misunderstanding. This resulted in a special situation upon arrival, which meant that there was actually no place for us. The staff immediately took action and conjured up an extra table, so that we could still enjoy a delicious dinner. We were very happy about that. The food was great and the service was just as good. We would love to come back again.

Very satisfied, beautiful place and delicious food. We had a 3 course surprise menu, cost 45 euros. What was unfortunately also a surprise were the extra costs charged for the bread of 16 euros. We had not ordered that ourselves and it was simply placed on the table, so we assume that it is part of the surprise menu. These additional costs were not communicated to us and were not mentioned anywhere on the menu. And the same goes for the cheese board for desert. We were given the choice of sweet or cheese, but no mention was made of the additional costs involved. I personally have trouble with that.

Enjoyed a delicious 3-course menu in this cozy restaurant. The service is top notch and the appetizers are delicious. Take your time because there is plenty of time between dishes.

Een avond heerlijk genieten! Geweldige avond gehad. Bas en Ramon zijn perfecte gastheren die je heel erg welkom laten voelen. Ze stralen echt tijdens het werk waarbij je kan zien dat ze trots zijn op wat ze bedienen/ serveren. Het eten is echt een cadeautje! Als vegetariër is meestal een verrassingsmenu geen succes (knolselderij, rode biet enz zijn vaak dingen die je dan krijgt) maar de chef/koks van Bij de Jongens maakt het voor elke vegetariër een feestje! Zo veel smaak, variatie en geweldige combinaties. Dikke complimenten! Daarnaast weten ze precies wat je als zwangere wel en niet mag. Echt een avond ontspanning en puur genieten (tip… neem thee en koffie na. Staat je dan een leuke verassing te wachten!)

I didn't eat here because it didn't happen. Why? It was after 6 p.m. in the restaurant reserved for us The selection of dishes was limited to a starter menu and then 3 set menus that could be ordered with a choice of 3, 4 or 5 courses. That wasn't our intention. We would have preferred a menu with different dishes, starters and desserts. Too bad.

Prettige ontvangst in een gezellige zaak die goed en gezellig is ingericht. Daarnaast ook een mooi terras. Leuke kaart en naast de voorbeeldige bediening ook topchefs in de keuken. Bestelde gerechten waren goed verzorgd en zeer goed op smaak. Daarnaast zijn ook de details op orde, mooi flesje mineraalwater, heerlijke koffie en verrassend goede kwaliteit voor een zeer redelijke prijs.

I recommend everyone to relax with the boys in Hattem after a day of shopping in Zwolle. I was already amazed when I walked in; I had never seen the interior and the colors in this combination. The experience was made perfect by the friendly and professional service. I also find their style in terms of amuses very inspiring. Another small critical note: we thought half past three was very early when the last lunch dishes could be ordered, but it is understandable if so much attention is paid to the flavor combinations that will undoubtedly also be offered during dinner, which require the necessary preparations.
