Last night, we enjoyed a fantastic 5-course surprise menu at Bij Vrienden with friends. WOW!!! We discovered a gem in the restaurant world. The dinner is truly fantastic in every way and flavor. With a service that showcases the kitchen team's outstanding performance with spontaneity and enthusiasm, Bij Vrienden embodies the quality of a Michelin-starred restaurant, but at fair prices and a pleasant, informal atmosphere. The wonderful hostess is a fantastic woman 😉 who makes everything a truly wonderful experience.

We had dinner with friends today, a 6-course surprise menu. The service was fantastic, no complaints whatsoever, perfectly prepared with delicious flavors. The service was also superb! It was a filling and enjoyable evening, and I just wanted to leave a few compliments!

What a pleasure to be pampered there one evening with delicious and beautifully presented dishes.

Once again, we had a wonderful meal! The wines, but also the non-alcoholic cocktails and coffee surprise were great. Compliments also for the service; there is a cozy and friendly atmosphere. Recommended! The next reservation is made. See you soon!

On a quiet Sunday afternoon enjoyed the 5-course surprise menu. Very tasty and very varied dishes. Also nice that you can still pass on wishes at the last minute when you don't like something, flexibility in the kitchen. Recommended and we will gladly come back here!

Delicious gluten-free food, my husband and I eat it normally. Was a full evening program! Had 5 courses, each course had a new surprise that was explained by the chef. We will definitely eat there again!

From starter to dessert, it was delicious! The mocktails are also recommended. Especially the Apple pie.. one more thing. We will be back!

A very atmospheric restaurant with lovely people and delicious food!

Good food, but small portions and quite expensive. The dishes on the menu are somewhere between a starter and a main course. Very little for a normal eater. Fries, vegetables or other side dishes must be ordered separately. I chose a four-course menu and it cost €50 without wine. It was tasty, but that's all. Portions are very small and not enough for me.

What a surprise on the Steenweg! This is dining at an extremely high level. They cook with the best ingredients and the plates are beautifully presented. Nothing is too crazy to make the guests happy. We saw a table where we would rather sit; no point. The heating a little higher? No problem. In addition, the way the service makes you feel very welcome is fantastic. You are left wonderfully alone, but at the same time they are there when needed. All employees have a genuine smile. I think that says something about the mutual atmosphere. Highly recommended! Be sure to immerse yourself in culinary art here!

Had a delicious meal with my partner yesterday! The 5 course surprise menu was really a surprise! You could indicate whether there were things you did not like, or whether you had an allergy, for example. Nothing was a problem. A good balance between meat and fish, prepared with care and beautifully presented plates. Service has knowledge of their wines, and the house aperitif is 👌 Great service, friendly, open for a chat and they know their work. We had a really nice evening and we will definitely come back.

We enjoyed it so much at Friends. We have been fans of Jolande and Jeroen, the owners of the restaurant, for some time now. Because the plates are always prepared with great care and the hospitality is of a high level. The team is also friendly, pleasant and careful. In short, it immediately feels familiar. That in combination with the delicious food makes it highly recommended!

Had a great experience tonight! We received a fantastic welcome from a super friendly and experienced hostess, served by experienced waitresses, and had a delicious surprise dinner with very good wine combinations, which were super explained by the chefs and waitresses. Very surprised by the hostess's extensive knowledge of the cheeses, and a very pleasant Brabant atmosphere. The only comment I would have (as a big eater) is that the portions could have been a little larger. Once again we had a fantastic experience and would love to come back again!

We were initially on the waiting list so we were very happy when this was converted into a reservation. Rightly so. What a delicious meal I had including a wine arrangement. Service is nice and correct and provides explanations for each dish. Perfect time between dishes.

All praise for the hostess, the chef and the waiting staff! We enjoyed the surprise menu with matching wines. Exquisite flavor combinations presented in a professional and friendly manner. Without a doubt worth repeating!

To celebrate our wedding anniversary we wanted to make a reservation "with friends". Unfortunately online full. Walked in on a Saturday afternoon. We were able to go on the reserve list. Fortunately, we received an email that we could still go after a cancellation. We had a delicious meal. Every dish was prepared with care. The eye also wants something, but there was nothing to complain about there either. My husband had a delicious cheese board for dessert with all the trimmings and cheeses that he did not yet know, but which were explained excellently by the hostess. When you enter the business, you are truly welcomed as a friend. The chef explains the food at the table, the staff are all helpful and friendly. There is a friendly and casual atmosphere. We came here for the second time. And certainly not the last. That's what we're willing to do with our ride from Son en Breugel.

Eating with friends, we've never been there before so I didn't know what to expect. First take a look at the website. The website looks good and there is plenty of choice, but there is no real starter, main and dessert. That is also part of a gastrobar. But yes, you do want to eat enough and return home with a full belly. So we didn't opt ​​for the 'bites'. I'm not into 'bites' or (what looks like) food sharing as you see in the Randstad. These are mainly dishes that you share together, but in terms of costs they do not actually outweigh what you get. Food sharing will not survive in my opinion. 'Bites' can work if you want to have a drink and something to eat with it. But for a good dinner that is not an option for me. So we opted for the 5 course menu. What was special was that we had not actually seen the menu, but we had seen the 'bites' menu. Mistake or misunderstanding on our side? It didn't matter now because after seeing the website, the 5-course surprise menu was already my preference. You can also choose from even more courses. The 5 course was an excellent choice. The dishes were very tasty and almost nothing to complain about. Other than that I thought there was too much difference in the portions of the same dish. Some friends had significantly more than others. The quantity was not always distributed fairly and with small dishes this quickly saves a sip on a drink. The dishes were neatly presented and served and it was explained what they were. Definitely delicious but sometimes just a little too small. But for €75 per person including drinks, that was fine. It wasn't a satisfied stomach, but you don't leave the table hungry either. Just enough for some, but not enough for others. It is clear that this is not a standard restaurant and it certainly cannot be compared to an all you can eat concept. That would be comparing apples and oranges. It is close to the higher culinary segment. That's also a thing, what do you want to be? Are you going for a star or not? If so, it needs to be stepped up, if not, Bij Vrienden is more than fine, but then I would make the dishes a little larger. Anyway, there was nothing to complain about the taste, service and ambiance. Perhaps it was sometimes a bit too noisy, so you just couldn't hear each other properly. Finally, the cheese library, we did not use it, but given the positive experience, I think there is no reason to doubt its quality.

We had a delicious meal and enjoyed great hospitality. The friendly ladies at the counter and the chefs who passionately tell you what they have prepared. A business where they still have an eye for passion. Will definitely come back.

Burgundian enjoyment, delicious food 6 courses with matching wine. Fine, well-prepared dishes, beautifully prepared with delicious flavors that you can simply put a fork or spoon into... no foaming or vague preparations, but well-thought-out dishes that are tasty. Really delicious. Service not stiff but very hospitable. I don't like cheese myself, but when you hear Jolande talk about her cheeses you will certainly smile. My wife enjoyed the delicious cheeses. Delicious surprise menu in a relaxed, cozy atmosphere. The evening ended with a cheese board that you can put together yourself in the special cheese corner. The hostess will explain and you can also taste something beforehand. Very nicely done!

Top! Delicious food, great service, and for cheese lovers it is definitely recommended to go to the cheese room at the end.

Invited as a surprise birthday gift by Wendy, André, Ronny and Anke for a dinner "At Friends". And indeed, it was not only a surprise for me but also great. The nice welcome from hostess owner Jolande and explanation from chef owner Jeroen was great. Everything was delicious and after the super fun, unique explanation at the table from sous chef Robin, it became even more delicious. We were spoiled for an evening there in a wonderful way. We had a great time at De Vrienden and would recommend everyone to eat here! What we particularly appreciated was the fantastic service: what nice people work here. They know their trade, are professional but still very cordial! We won't soon forget choosing our own cheese in the cheese room. The dishes and accompanying wines were also delicious. It was a shame that the main course (meat) was well done and therefore a bit dry. A tip is to ask the guests what their preference is. Other than that it was 100% SUPER. We will definitely come back again.

Heerlijk gegeten leuke enthousiaste bediening en fijne sfeer

Heerlijke gerechtjes, prachtig opgemaakt en goede lekkere wijnen. Maar bovenal de sfeer, gezelligheid en de gemoedelijke persoonlijke bediening door de eigenares Jolanda. Chapeau!! Absoluut voor herhaling vatbaar.

Heerlijke avond gehad bij Bij Vrienden. Het verrassingsmenu was onwijs lekker met fantastische bijpassende wijnen erbij. De koks komen zelf met passie de gerechten serveren en de bediening is super gastvrij en dragen hun kennis van de wijnen en het eten erg enthousiast over aan tafel. De gastvrouw is een echte topper waar je alleen al voor de gezelligheid bij wilt komen eten! Kortom een echte aanrader voor een heerlijk avondje uit.

Het 4-gangenmenu was 'n belevenis. Naast de amuses heerlijke gerechtjes, origineel gereserveerd en verrassende smaakcobinaties. Alles plezierig geserveerd door enthousiaste medewerkers die de gerechtjes van een heldere toelichting voorzien.

Heerlijk gegeten en een geweldige gastvrouw Leuk dat de koks de gerechten naar de tafel brengen en er iets over vertellen.

Zeer sfeervol restaurant dat gerund wordt door een echtpaar: gastvrouw en kok. We hadden een 4-gangen verrassingsmenu, dat ook door de vegetariërs onder ons erg goed werd bevonden. De gastvrijheid kent hier geen grenzen en de kwaliteit van het eten en de wijze waarop het wordt opgediend zijn voortreffelijk!

Je voelt je echt gast en welkom. Aardige gastvrouw en lekker eten. De kaas achteraf is een aanrader!

Ontzettend leuke avond gehad! Heerlijk eten, hele goede service, enorm sfeervol en vergeet zeker de kaashoek niet. De gastvrijheid, vriendelijkheid en de humor gaat er zeker voor zorgen dat we hier vaker terug gaan komen.

5 sterren voor de kaasbibliotheek, de gerechten 3 sterren waard. Er wordt teveel gebruik gemaakt van sausjes en getoverd met smaken die niet altijd matchen. De aankleding is gezellig, maar de akoestiek is slecht. Je hoort je tafelgenoten amper door het vele kabaal. Bediening is vriendelijk en gastvrij.

Wat een geweldige plek! Zó lekker gegeten, ieder gerechtje was een feestje. Mooi opgemaakt, leuke ambiance, vriendelijk personeel en vooral heerlijke smaken! Wij komen hier zeker terug!

Mooie aanwinst voor Helmond. Zeer vriendelijke bediening en heerlijke gerechten. Prijs/kwaliteit kan nog beter afgestemd worden. Tijdig reserveren, binnenlopen heeft weinig zin. Lichtplan moet terug naar tekentafel, licht straalt geen warmte uit.

Wat een feest dit. Na deze avond gelijk weer gereserveerd. By far, samen met Roka, het beste restaurant van Helmond.
