We were there on the wrong date and time. There was a busy reception in the conservatory. We were seated in the (small) conservatory for 5 minutes, but unfortunately, we had to go home.

Fantastic carpaccio roll starter, main courses were decent, atmosphere is good. Great service and good parking.

The food was fine, but a bit too small for me. I also found the panini quite pricey for what you got. The service is friendly, but you have to call them every time to order something and they don't come by spontaneously. I don't necessarily recommend this restaurant, but I also don't advise against it.

Nice place to grab a bite to eat

Had lunch with five colleagues. We reserved a table in advance. Service was reasonably fast. Drinks hadn't been served yet when we asked about the rest of the food. The staff couldn't manage a smile and seemed very disinterested. The meal arrived fairly quickly. I had the 12 o'clock meal. The zucchini soup was lukewarm and as salty as broom. We had been asked beforehand whether I wanted white or brown bread. The mini bun with carpaccio was white and completely overcooked (reheated?) to a rusk. The carpaccio was tough. The croquette was served in a dry white bun. When I asked the staff about the brown bread, they said it always came on a white bun. Otherwise, the plate was empty. No greens. No butter. The staff came fairly quickly after the meal to clear the table and again to take drink orders. The bill arrived promptly after asking. 25 euros per person. If the staff had shown a little more enthusiasm, it would have been a different experience. A shame.

Rented a venue for a small henna party. The manager was very helpful. Excellent service and understanding. Definitely recommended. And 5 stars for the staff!

Beautiful surprising location, good food, cozy, beautiful surroundings

Mediocre, not worth repeating. Slow service, as if it was all too much, discussion about the wrong bill, after lunch, having to ask for it to be cleared myself after 40 minutes of staring at empty plates and drinks, then still not clearing empty glasses and taking a new order. A lady walks around as if you're saying something wrong if you haven't received something. Because of that, I just left early; it's not inviting to stay. The fresh juice isn't fresh; it's supposedly bought fresh, but it tastes like supermarket orange juice, not fresh juice. You can taste the difference immediately. The outdoor play area for small children is nice, the food tastes good, but the quality is the same as elsewhere. We'll skip it next time.

Great location, food—not exceptional, but not bad either, and certainly not the quantity. In my opinion, something's missing. The service is extremely friendly and efficient. There were a lot of children and busy people who got up and cleared half the table at the same time... it must be a coincidence.

We had our wedding here, everything was super well organised

The café was a pleasant surprise while strolling through the city. The interior was cozy and creatively decorated. I ordered a perfectly balanced latte and a sandwich that was generously filled and deliciously fresh. The staff was friendly and made sure everything ran smoothly. The atmosphere was light and cheerful. I would recommend this café to anyone.

Beautiful location in a quiet, green area of ​​Rijswijk. The children's playground is a big plus. Prices are on the high side. There's a lovely, large outdoor terrace where you can relax comfortably.

My father and I ordered two cappuccinos with apple pie. The service was disinterested, arrogant, and showed little enthusiasm. The apple pie was frozen, the crust was dry, and the filling was watery. The cappuccino came in a regular coffee cup. And all that for almost €22.00. The price is absurdly high compared to the quality. So this was the last time; they probably have to recoup the renovation costs with the ridiculously high prices. Such a waste of a beautiful location.

It was delicious and super cozy

August 30, 2025: Enjoyed a lovely lunch with five people. Initially sat outside, but due to some rain, we moved inside to a nice spot by the window. The service was excellent, both for the drinks and the food, even though there were a few parties (including a wedding) going on. We ate delicious sandwiches. I had a tuna melt sandwich. The coffee was also good. The prices aren't cheap, but they are comparable to other similar establishments.

Nothing was possible, and they didn't think anything of us. Such a shame. The food wasn't good either. Ordering from the breakfast menu stopped at 10:45, as it ends at 10:30. Picking up a dish wasn't possible either, "because it's already been made." Asking for explanations about certain dishes was also possible while walking around; the phone was simply answered at the table, etc. Furthermore, the food was far too salty. Disappointing, considering the pleasant surroundings. The price-quality ratio is truly disproportionate.

Ordered an Americano coffee, got regular black coffee. The comment was that Americano is a trendy word, but it's just black coffee. A missed opportunity, unfortunately.

A very bad experience. The staff is unfriendly and the food is very disappointing. We ordered two incredibly large hamburger buns and had to eat one separately, which says a lot. The bun was unbearable, the lettuce was brown, and the tomato slice was as thick as my thumb. We also believe there was a chef walking around who was really unfriendly and seemed very stressed. And it wasn't super busy, so we didn't enjoy ourselves and felt it was a waste of money. The tables were very dirty for a long time, and we were asked at least ten times if we wanted another drink (one of the glasses was still half full). So this is a warning to people who want to eat somewhere better. Try it at a better place than this one, because this is nothing more than a money grab.

Celebrated my bather's 90th birthday here. The gazebo was an excellent choice. Ben even suggested we install a playpen because he thought it was a bit quiet. He's truly fantastic. The service was perfect; we only had to ask for anything and it was done. The snacks were delicious and luxurious. After the birthday, we had a lovely meal on the terrace with a few others, and that was also perfect. A big 10 for you.

The service depends on the staff member (probably as in most places) — when we asked for seat cushions, one waiter didn’t respond, while another brought them with a smile. The manager is friendly. Overall, we had a pleasant lunch there.

Had lunch at 12 o'clock. The soup didn't taste very good. I had a croquette sandwich and a slice of bread with tuna, a little melted cheese, and capers on top. I gulped it down. €16.50 is too expensive. Iced coffee was watered-down bitter coffee with ice cubes for €5.50 plus an extra €1.20 for caramel flavor, which I didn't taste. Cappuccino €4.20. Had to wait a long time for their order to be taken and delivered to the table. Very young staff. Had to wait 20 minutes for a cappuccino. Stains on the sofa cushions. There's a garbage can on the patio. In short, it's a run-down place outside, boring, no atmosphere, subpar food, especially for the price! And expensive drinks. I'll be looking for a different restaurant/patio from now on.

A beautiful lunch setting. Only some of the staff are incompetent!! Two waitresses stood chatting for 10 minutes, leaving their newly arrived guests hanging like air! Then a schoolboy came to take our order (1 cappuccino and 1 coffee!), for which he had to come to our table twice because he'd forgotten it! Another employee brought the forgotten cutlery to the next table, which was simply shoved into the guests' hands! It's a shame this happens; management should definitely keep a closer eye on this!!

We came for coffee without a reservation, which the hostess clearly didn't appreciate. Fortunately, we were allowed to sit down anyway. The tables were messy and dirty, and it took a long time to be helped. There was an incident where a woman fell. The waiter (a man in a white shirt) didn't offer to help her, but instead made a derogatory remark and turned his back on her—extremely unprofessional! Furthermore, the place looks unkempt, with trash bins and litter everywhere. The milkshake and coffee were good, though!

Food was excellent, service could be better.

I had lunch here through work for an event. I understood from work that they had indicated that vegetarian options were required, but that the brasserie itself was free to choose. I don't eat four-legged animals myself, but the brasserie didn't ask us about any dietary requirements beforehand. At lunch, we all received a ready-made plate of sandwiches and fruit. Although the brasserie politely informed my Muslim colleague that everything was halal, they reacted quite differently to my question. On my plate, I had a (beef) croquette sandwich, a roast beef sandwich, and a cheese sandwich. When I asked if it contained beef, the waitress politely confirmed it did. When I explained that I don't eat beef, she simply said, "Oh, you can't eat that then," and hurriedly left. There was no compromise, no service from the brasserie, and no apology whatsoever. I had to make do because the waitress hurriedly left and didn't seem to want to help me. Ultimately, my colleagues and I managed to work something out and we swapped sandwiches, but the service from the brasserie was sorely lacking. I found that a real shame. For this reason, I wouldn't recommend this place if you have special dietary requirements.

delicious, wonderful atmosphere for small celebrations

I celebrated my 65th birthday in one of the venues, and it was a great success. The staff was friendly and helpful, and the snacks were delicious. The only downside was the acoustics in the venue. But all in all, a wonderful party in a beautiful location.

From the outside, it looks great, but inside, it's pure poverty. The meeting room is noisy, and cheap workers are everywhere, leaving their trash scattered around. The restrooms are old, and the staff is very, very young and inexperienced. They take plates away while you're still eating and grab glasses from the top. Not something I'll be returning to!

Yesterday we went here for dinner with a group of 5 people. We were guided to the table upon arrival but then ignored, after half an hour we walked to the service ourselves to order drinks. After this we passed on the dinner, but after it was served at the table it turned out that 1 dish was not 'available' and something else had to be chosen... strange when everything is already on the table, 1 person could not eat at the same time as the rest, super unsociable and of course also strange that you are not informed in advance of what can and cannot be ordered, I think this could have been indicated earlier. The food was also not entirely tasty, the sticky bites were full of chili and therefore way too spicy (not indicated anywhere) It all tasted very sour, as if it was not completely right The staff is a big fat turn-off anyway for such a beautiful location you expect at least friendliness, but there was no smile from them and they were hardly to be seen while the terrace was reasonably full with the beautiful weather, you had to keep looking for staff to order something... I would not spend a cent more here! Too bad for such a beautiful location

On Wednesday 18 June reserved for Friday 27 June at five o'clock When we arrived there was a wedding. We said that there was a reservation, they looked at us as if they saw water burning and said, go and ask. Whereupon someone came to us and said that we could not eat there because the entire location was rented and whether I had not canceled which was not the case, I also think this is a stupid question otherwise we would not be there. Very bad service. They will not see us there again. I also think this is recommended.

Missed opportunities: -- Request for a glass of tap water with coffee was not possible. -- After showing interest in more information about the 'homemade strawberry lemonade' the waitress asked and then the feedback was "it is just homemade". Had my friends baby shower here. Kim and the manager on the day were amazing - they were very considerate and tried to accommodate our needs as much as possible. We enjoyed our high tea. ☕️ The restaurant is in a beautiful green area. Really amazing experience overall.

Last week we had our wedding party at 'Bijna Thuis' with our loved ones. The General & Event manager listened to all our wishes and added some extras (without extra costs). Great! When we entered, the room was beautifully decorated. We had a delicious meal and the staff was super friendly. We were allowed to put on our own music. And then there was the dessert. We had chosen small pastries. Delicious and served very chic. Really recommended for your parties! We had a fantastic day. Thank you!

We had made a reservation for a Saturday evening at 18:30. After ordering dinner at 19:00, we were told that they have been closing at 20:00 for 2 weeks. Advice: report this when making the reservation (by phone). Now our dinner with friends was very short. Food was generally good. Had a nice meal. Only the steak on the skewer was tough. The atmosphere gets few stars, because there were hardly any other guests besides us. Which is also logical if you close at 20:00.

Almost Home is no longer what it was under the previous owner... an almost home.

In the past, I have celebrated several of my daughter's birthdays outside under 'the tent' to my complete satisfaction. However, new owners are making a mess of it; grumpy, surly and not hospitable. Food not what you would expect for that price, service slow.

Definitely a nice location! Unfortunately today, Sun April 28, ministry is lagging behind the facts. Drinks that come from 2 different places. Have lunch on time, but no cutlery. The 2nd drink also took a very long time. “Runner” walked around with our drinks, asking at each table… We were certainly not the only table with problems, people around us were asked several times how their drinks were going... And then the question whether my fellow table companion wanted ice in her wine... pff, where is any knowledge of wine... All in all, excellent food... but the service leaves much to be desired...

All drinks were on top of the price of 34.95 pp, which was more expensive than at Van der Valk, while the quality and diversity there are 100x better, but unfortunately they were full.
