Bistro Aragosta in Binnenstad

What a fantastic place! It was packed on a Wednesday evening, but the entire team paid special attention to each guest. The food was fantastic, with superb ingredients, intensely flavorful, and perfectly balanced. What you see is what you get! A breath of fresh air after all the water, flowers, and latticework. We didn't order a wine pairing, but they recommended a fantastic bottle of wine. We will be back! Thank you Wouter and the team for the wonderful evening!

The food was excellent, well-presented, and delicious. Personal attention wasn't really given to guests; the food was served and explained briefly, but then quickly turned around and they moved on. I think a different atmosphere and staff would make this restaurant even better.

Despite my slightly overly high expectations, I still had a very delicious meal. Personally, I find the space simply too small/cramped for the quality of the food. The flavors and ingredients used are truly amazing; I'm definitely not a fan of truffles, but the food more than made up for that. Well, forgetting a dish can happen to anyone, which was actually quite funny. 😁

How we enjoyed it here. The hospitality, the genuine interest from the kitchen and especially what came out of it. Wonderful to be in a restaurant again with classic dishes with a modern twist. And then those wines, 40 year old port and home-distilled limoncello from blood oranges. Thank you Wouter, Stije & team, you will definitely see us again!

Absolutely had a top evening with my wife, beautiful and tasty culinary highlights on the plate with matching wines. Service was great, very open and warm but professional. As old Rotterdammers enjoyed it very much and we will definitely come back more often..

We have been here a number of times now and yesterday we were not disappointed! What a party for your taste buds! Nice to have a choice in the number of courses, the food you want/don't want and then to be completely surprised with what you are served! The atmosphere is always pleasant. If you want a fancy dinner with the guarantee that you will get delicious food, then this is the place to be! We are fans!

Fijne ontvangst door chef Wouter en vervolgens heeft zijn team ons in de watten gelegd. Champagne met oesters om mee te starten en vervolgens het verrassingsmenu met fantastische wijnen erbij! Noordzeekrab-salade als eerste gerecht, vervolgens snoek met gerookte paling en als dessert een heerlijke kaasplank. We komen graag weer terug!

FANTASTIC dishes and flavors. very impressed with this pearl! What an incredibly special culinary and enjoyable experience. tip 1: match the music to your concept, then it will be great. (it now seemed a bit 'random' in terms of choice and sound and that detracts from the experience) tip 2: the spreads beforehand are super tasty. Even better with homemade bread!

Delicious food. The dishes also looked beautiful. Friendly and attentive service. Although sometimes the time between courses was a bit long, you felt that you had and were given all the time for each dish. We only drank non-alcoholic drinks and there was a surprising amount of choice. Very special: when we left we were shaken by the entire staff. That really made you feel like a guest and not a customer.

Time and time again we come away from here enthusiastic and surprised! The food has surprising combinations, is bursting with flavors and the plates are beautifully presented. Both chefs come into their own in the kitchen, where the collaboration runs in harmony and they both radiate calm and pleasure. This is reflected in the beautiful plates with refined dishes that pass the table. They take the time for customers and make you feel very welcome. The hostess ensures that everything is arranged in detail and that you lack nothing. Every time we are surprised and we want more! Be surprised with the 6-course menu and the matching wine arrangement, because it doesn't get better than that!!

Tasty dishes, friendly service. Nice, somewhat dark interior. Flexible kitchen. We took the four-course surprise menu but were able to indicate that we would like lobster as a main course. The eel with smoked butter sauce was a winner. The dessert with mascarpone and blue cheese is surprising. Great address in Leeuwarden!

We hebben heerlijk gegeten bij Aragosta. We werden hartelijk ontvangen in deze mooie bistro. We kozen voor het 6 gangen menu van de chef inclusief wijnarrangement. Elk gerecht was een verrassing en stelde niet teleur, integendeel het overtrof onze verwachtingen. Vooraf Ierse Oesters met bubbels. Daarna heerlijke terrine van gevogelte, coquilles met ham, scholfilet, risotto met zwarte truffel, eendenborstfilet en een lekker dessert. We hadden iets te vieren, dat hadden we niet beter kunnen doen dan bij Aragosta!

We had a delicious meal at Aragosta. We were warmly welcomed in this beautiful bistro. We opted for the chef's 6-course menu including wine pairing. Every dish was a surprise and did not disappoint, on the contrary it exceeded our expectations. Irish oysters with bubbles beforehand. Then a delicious poultry terrine, scallops with ham, plaice fillet, risotto with black truffle, duck breast fillet and a delicious dessert. We had something to celebrate, we couldn't have done it better than at Aragosta!

Special. Superb chef and very clever food.

We found it by fluke next to the flower shop,as there was a discrete entrance. It had the right smell and presentation of glassware and ambience. Luckily for us , the very switched-on and chic front-of-house Lady had one table left. We were introduced to the Patron, Wouter, who, in English only a proper Dutchman can speak, told us how the evening would be. Our choice of the number of courses, our choice of the principal of what we would like to eat, and we were away for a very special evening. In principle, we had ordered four courses each, but we had eight different courses as my wife likes fish, I like meat, and I finished with cheese. Thus, each course was individually thought about, cooked, and presented. It was beautifully balanced and very clever in its use of sauces and textures. It was a delightful evening and created a new memory for us both. And to cap it off, I took home a bottle of the homemade Blood Orange Arancello, which is superb! Geweldige ervaring om hier te eten. Nog nooit zo lekker gegeten. Erg vriendelijk personeel. Tafels krijgen wanneer ze kiezen voor een verrassingsmenu allemaal andere gerechten zodat je niet bij de buren kunt zien wat je volgende gang is. Hoe top is dat? Echt een aanrader!

Het welkom en de service was verrassend en gastvrij. We hebben genoten van een 4 gangen lunch. Daarbij vooraf ook brood met lekkere en bijzonder heerlijke smeersels genomen. Gekozen voor een bijpassend wijnarrangement en die was ook lekker. Tot slot afgesloten met koffie én friandises. De inrichting was sfeervol en vriendelijk en op de achtergrond gepaste muziek. Prijs/kwaliteitverhouding is prima. Wijnarrangement misschien wat aan de hoge kant. Niettemin al met al genoten en zeker een aanrader!

The welcome and service was surprising and hospitable. We enjoyed a 4 course lunch. We also had bread with tasty and particularly delicious spreads beforehand. Opted for a matching wine arrangement and it was also tasty. Finally concluded with coffee and friandises. The decor was attractive and friendly with appropriate music in the background. Price/quality ratio is excellent. Wine pairing perhaps a bit on the high side. Nevertheless, all in all I enjoyed it and definitely recommend it!

Zaligmakend! Eten is verrukkelijk, bediening is zeer professioneel en de sfeer is heel erg goed. Uiteten bij Aragosta is tongstrelend en het eten zul je niet snel vergeten! Aanrader als je op zoek bent naar “fine dining”.

What a pleasant and delicious evening we enjoyed at Bistro Aragosta. From the moment we walked in to the moment we left, everything was taken care of down to the last detail. The warm welcome at the door, the guidance to the table and the chef's promise that he would "make something special of it" almost made the evening a success for us, while the best was yet to come. All dishes with matching wines from the 5-course menu were undoubtedly excellent, partly due to the presentation and explanations of the chef, the cook and the sommelier. Congratulations to these three young people who know how to give their guests an unforgettable evening with their personal touch.

"Accidentally" we were in Leeuwarden on Saturday around lunch and wanted something tasty. We were lured through the Library... What a nice one business friendly and professional. We took the lunch menu and left it up to the chef/host to decide what he would make for us. A delicious gruner accompanied the starter with a sea bass tartare. But the first glass was already gone when the delicious bread with wild goose rillette, delicious olives and candied garlic was first brought. So glass two. The main course was a work of art based on oxtail and truffle. Plus an excellent Chianti Classico. After a good espresso and we went home very happy. What a wonderful experience in the far North :) We would love to come back again.

Had dinner here tonight. From the beginning to the end the experience was sublime, the dish that stood out to us the most was the eel with sauerkraut, the taste sensation was really perfect. What best describes the restaurant is simplicity in perfection, the team of 3 people serving 10 tables is an art, but you hardly notice this as a guest, there is so much attention for you. So I recommend that if you are in Leeuwarden, go here, we are lucky that we live in Leeuwarden and can go back again! See you soon Wouter, thanks for the nice evening!

Now... the food is excellent, but service was atrocious. We ordered 5 courses and that took 5 hours. 5 hours is just too long and subpar for a quality restaurant. No excuse is good enough for the complete lack of communication. Not one of the staff said anything about delays... and to make it worse, every table had to sit and wait on average 1 hour per course. I was being served a wine arrangement. This meant a different wine for each course. This would normally be served at the beginning of every course. However, this night was a complete shambles. The service was so narcoleptic that the next wine was being served too quickly. Waiting an hour with a wine in the glass is ridiculous to expect of customers and is certainly an indication of bad service. Combine this with the complete lack of communication... It's just not fine dining. Another point of irritation is that I had mistakingly used a fork for a risotto (a spoon had been provided).. this would cause no trouble in a normal restaurant. However, here they expected me to eat the next course with the same, now dirty fork. The waitress said it is how things are done here... nothing was said about a clean fork... I felt like I had to live with it... the only problem is, is that I choose not to live with this type of arrogant service. It is bad service and bad manners to expect me to accept rules that have not been explained at the beginning of the evening (many hours ago). Another deafening lack of communication. I instead asked another waitress for a clean fork. If things go wrong in the kitchen, tell the customer's, they will understand. A couple of tips. 1 - Don't serve subpar desserts. I could have made the one served here in 20 minutes, including prep. 2 - If the wine is being served at a rate that is not consistent with the food, offer the customer's extra, and I mean extra, not just a quick shot because my glass is empty. Be generous. 3 - Communicate.

Fantastisch 6-gangen diner met uitstekend bijpassend wijnpakket voor een erg redelijke prijs. Vriendelijk en professioneel personeel en gemoedelijke sfeer in het restaurant. Kortom we hebben een fantastische avond gehad. We komen zeker terug!

Very tasty food with a friendly atmosphere. You sit a bit close to each other, but we sat on the platform a bit apart. Good explanation of the dishes, not too long that you forget everything before you start eating. The only downside I found was the hefty price. This is also more related to the lack of amuse-bouches or a snack beforehand. All in all highly recommended and a place we want to come back to!

What a wonderful experience dining at Aragosta is. We were received very warmly, you immediately start looking forward to it. We had a beautiful table on a stage (there were 7 of us) and we had a great start with a delicious wine, oysters and brittle with perfect spreads. Then we went for a 4-course surprise menu. The first course was a sea bass rillette. Divine. Second course scallops also really delicious, in combination with saffron and ox tongue. I had never eaten the latter before, so soft and delicious. Main course was stew with asparagus, potato and truffle. I opted for cheese for dessert, the others had îles flottantes and strawberries, and they were also very pleased with them. The service is attentive, pays close attention, the pace was also good. We really enjoyed this experience so much! Highly recommended in Leeuwarden.

We had lunch at Aragosta yesterday and the visit was excellent in every way. The dishes, service and ambiance were fantastic. Everything had been taken into account and from the moment we entered we really felt like we were in another world where you can completely immerse yourself in the experience of haute cuisine. Recommended!

Had dinner with a friend in Aragosta last night and what a wonderful experience that was. Reception was warm, wine suggestions were great. After the start of a delicious kind of stewed garlic, delicious rilette, herb butter and oysters, a 3 course dinner that was sublime. Service was top notch, not to mention wonderful (mostly) French-language music, which made the evening complete, so highly recommended and I will definitely come back.

A wonderful restaurant with personal attention. We were surprised by the six-course menu, with matching wine pairing, also in a non-alcoholic version. I'm not much of a meat eater, but it was no problem to replace the main course with meat for a fish version. Everything was delicious and well taken care of. We often eat in good restaurants but this was really excellent and delicious!

Small, cozy, super friendly and fantastic food. That's what you get here, where the intrinsic love for the profession predominates. Everything is done to provide a beautiful evening and requests are responded to effortlessly. The food and wine were truly a delight. Nothing can beat genuine passion!

Heel lekker gegeten in dit gezellige restaurant. Vriendelijke bediening. Mooi ingerichte zaak. Kleinschalig en daardoor sfeervol en persoonlijk. Lekker menu met hoogwaardige producten. We lieten de keuze van gerechten aan de chef en werden niet teleurgesteld. Enige minpuntje was dat de wijnen nogal prijzig zijn.

Alles perfect! Super goede gastheer, heerlijk eten, goede wijnen! Echt top!! De absolute aanrader is: Wagyu met kaviaar. Wat was dit lekker!

In een fantastische unieke sfeer gedineerd alsof je je in het buitenland waant. Een ongedwongen sfeer met veel aandacht voor kwaliteit en precisie voor de gerechten. Alle smaken smelten in elkaar over en zijn een fijne en soms verrassende combinatie. Aan tafel is er persoonlijke aandacht voor de gasten. Eten in een fijne ambiance met een lekkere ongedwongen nazit waarbij er ruimte is voor even na borrelen.

Wat een geweldige ervaring, ons laten verrassen met een 6 gangen menu! Wat een mooie gerechten, en wat een top bediening je voelt je direct thuis. Wouter en zijn personeel laten je echt genieten van de bijzondere smaken en niet te vergeten het wijn arrangement was zeer goed gezocht bij de gerechten. Ook even mogen proeven van de Wagyu koe een massage voor de tong. Wij komen absoluut weer.

Voor het eerst in Leeuwarden een eetgelegenheid uitgezocht met goede referenties wij werden niet teleurgesteld. Heerlijk vijfgangendiner met bijpassende wijnen die stuk voor stuk prima tot hun recht kwamen bij de gerechten oesters vooraf zonder te vragen direct tapwater op tafel ipv de dure flessen bronwater De eigenaar en het personeel hebben er voor ons een klein feestje van gemaakt persoonlijke aandacht vlotte bediening. Een echte aanrader als u in Leeuwarden bent.

Super lekker gegeten, leuke ontspannen sfeer, goede bediening. Wouter is een topper, klantvriendelijk. Een echte aanrader.

Het voelt als thuiskomen bij Wouter en zijn team. Fantastisch eten met heerlijke wijnen. De menukaart niet gezien en onze wensen aangegeven. Waarna alles wat geserveerd werd gewoon klopte! Aangenaam verrast door de alcoholvrije wijnen voor de bob. Het feit dat er ook persoonlijk door de chef even tijd gemaakt wordt om even een praatje met de gasten te maken maakt het helemaal af.

Uitstekend, geen andere woorden voor! Personeel is zeer gastvrij en de gerechten zijn van hoogstaande kwaliteit. Vele positieve verhalen gehoord over deze zaak en er was geen woord gelogen. Bedankt en tot de volgende.

Weekend Friesland met mijn broertjes. Wij hoopten een restaurant te vinden waarin goed eten en sfeer in balans zouden zijn. Na 7 uur (!) lang genoten te hebben in Bistro Aragosta kunnen we zeggen dat dit gelukt is. Wat een fijn plek. We kozen voor een verrassingsmenu. Het menu maakte zijn naam waar, op een aangename manier… Vooral onder de indruk waren we van de jonge gedreven keukenbrigade en bediening. Professioneel, joviaal en - niet onbelangrijk - met humor. Uitgebreid kennisgemaakt met Chef-kok Wouter. Wat een mooi en oprecht verhaal heeft hij! We hebben gelachen, gedronken en na sluitingstijd zelf nog gedanst. Wat een top avond! Overheerlijk gegeten met bijpassende wijnen, waardoor alles bij elkaar kwam. De gastvrijheid van Jan Gerard en Wouter (en de rest van het team) maken het plaatje helemaal compleet.
