Bistro Baret in Weesperbuurt/Plantage

What a charming bistro! At first, we thought, "Where have we ended up?" The location is in an alley, and the terrace is on the sidewalk by the water. However, the service was incredibly friendly and kind, and the food was delicious and unlike anything you'd find everywhere. The only downside was the dessert. We ordered the strawberry cheesecake crumble, which turned out to be just strawberries with whipped cream (for €10). Otherwise, it was fantastic!

Very bad experience. Even though the restaurant was posted as open, and we were even able to make a reservation, we were met with a closed door. The restaurant was closed, without any notice. It's very disappointing.

Me and my family came in for a late dinner and were warmly welcomed by the staff. The meal was excellent—especially the fish of the day and the ribeye for two, which were both absolutely delicious.

The 250 gram ribeye with fries was wonderfully tender. The service is very friendly. Booked in advance so directly at the table. A very short distance from Carré. Very relaxed according to Jochem Myjer's performance.

Once again fantastic food. My favorite restaurant in Amsterdam.

Had a great meal before a show at Carré, the theatre is literally around the corner. Tip: serve the aperitifs before the starter and not during.

Amazing place, great vibes, delicious food

We sat outside in view of the church which was fantastic! Views and city life were in full swing which was nice. Food seemed not as diverse or traditional as I would’ve liked. Probably could get a better meal elsewhere, but the location made up for it, perfect for a good day in the city.

What a gem, this little restaurant, literally around the corner from Carré. Get in the mood for the show with an aperitif outside in the sun, with a view of the artist entrance. Delicious food, quickly on the table (even though we all had something different). Personal, warm service. Nice atmosphere. The music was immediately turned down at our request. Pleasantly quiet in terms of sound, but that may be different if it is full (the group table was only reserved for later in the evening yesterday) We will definitely come back here!

A cozy bistro in true French style. And I really had the most delicious hake fillet: perfectly cooked and very tasty. We had a relaxing dinner here and arrived well on time for the performance in Carré. Next time I will go back without time pressure to enjoy more extensively!

The food was incredibly tasty. I really liked the steak, it was perfectly fried and the butter with herbs only complemented its taste. also the mussels came with a delicious broth. I recommend trying the mushroom appetizer, very interesting taste. Many thanks to the waiters for the list of local restaurants worth visiting. the atmosphere of the place is very cozy.

Very tasty food and cozy place. Very friendly staff. We had the theater menu because we were going to a performance in Carré at 8 p.m. This is taken into account despite the busyness of the business. But also recommended for extensive dining!

We enjoyed a lovely evening here with rib eye steak and fish. There was also delicious red wine and non-alcoholic cocktails. The service was extremely friendly without being intrusive. It was our first time there and we can highly recommend this restaurant.

A delicious dinner before visiting the stopera. We were helped quickly and friendly. The food was very well prepared and very tasty. Being able to talk quietly in between and ready on time. In short, highly recommended if you have further plans for the evening.

We chose to dine here on my wife's birthday after a visit to Artis. This is a small restaurant that makes use of the space available. It is popular for those going to a show in Carré and most places were taken when we arrived at 18:00. So it makes sense to book in advance. My wife had the Hake Fillet (breaded fennel, mustard brine, sauerkraut beurre blanc, crispy capers, wild garlic oil) whilst I went vegetarian with the BBQ Celeriac (roasted celeriac cream, pickled bundle mushroom, cannellini beans, parsley, beurre noisette, fried sage, hazelnut, crispy breadcrumbs). Both were delicious. The choice of wine per glass was limited, but what we had was excellent. For dessert we both had Chocolate 10, a rather heavy dish for which a single helping could have been shared.

The place is warm and welcoming, the service from all the waiters is super friendly, both upon arrival and throughout the dinner. The dishes were very good, the cockles, the shrimp croquettes, the meat and the ravioli were unbeatable, there were 8 of us and we ordered 3 bottles of wine. Between all €52, very good quality/price ratio To return, without hesitation

Binnen erg donker, zodat je regelmatig je telefoon nodig hebt als je wilt zien wat je eet. Hoofdgerecht tarbot was veel te vet, het fileren was onmogelijk bij het slechte licht. Op de vraag aan het personeel om het even voor ons te doen, kwam de reactie dat we dat prima zelf konden doen. Jazeker als we het konden zien! Echtgenoot ziek geworden van al het vet. Overal ligt gefrituurde peterselie bij. De schelvis en de twee steaks waren goed.

In short - perfect! Must visit this place! We arrived at the restaurant at rush hour, 6:30 p.m., and the restaurant was almost completely full. We didn't reserve seats in advance and rushed to the show at the nearby theater. I approached the waiter and asked if by any chance there was a table for a couple and if he thought we would be able to leave the restaurant within an hour - the charming waiter said he would make every effort for us. Indeed it was! Immediately after we sat down, and despite the busyness of the restaurant, a charming waitress approached us and made sure to take our order as quickly as possible. The food arrived very quickly, and was delicious, accurate and great. The staff was attentive and pleasant despite the busyness of the restaurant and this made the whole experience even more successful! The design of the restaurant was also charming and we also want to stay there longer. It was a very successful visit and I will definitely go back there again!

Food was great however service was far away from the foods that they have. Unfortunately we had a dining experience more than 1 hours within the meals since they are quite experienced owners they offered compensation. I can recommend their Turbot 👌. Despite of the service food is great 👍

The restaurant is very cute and the waiters welcoming, but unfortunately we waited 1 hour and a half for a steak. We came very early because we were going to the theater afterwards and we don’t like to rush. We ended up eating in 5 minutes. The food was good, but we did not get to enjoy it properly.

Amazing experience at bistro Baret. Clams Portuguese style was my favourite but everything was delicious and in good quantity. A restaurant that does not cheat. Service was excellent.

The food was very good but that was the only positive. We got the most annoying table in the restaurant. Guests were constantly bumping into us on both sides of the table. (on the way to the toilet) and service staff The table was right next to a noisy coffee machine and a freight elevator that is in constant use. Before we sat down we asked for another table but we had to take it because the rest was reserved for other guests. It was full and very noisy, so normal conversation with each other was not possible. No second time for Bistro Beret for us

We made a reservation for 12 people and got our own table. The restaurant was very busy, probably with theater goers in front of Theater Carré. After 8 hours it became quieter. We especially enjoyed the starters as shared dining

Our dinner was just perfect. We were traveling here and found lots of local people enjoying this restaurant as well. The fish of the day was amazing, healthy but fulfilling. We finished the dinner with chocolate dessert and espresso martini, now ready for night life in Amsterdam!

La ubicación está a un nivel de la calle con una ventana que se puede ver a las personas mientras caminan, y en el momento adecuado del día, entra un poco de luz solar de la hora dorada, lo que se suma al ambiente ya que la decoración es una paleta de colores de cortesía. El personal era muy servicial. Incluso el postre era delicioso. El helado de naranja sangre es fantástico jaja. Me encantaría volver algún día. Muy recomendable!

Found this as a last minute dinner option. Walked in, no reservation and turned out being the best last minute decision we made all trip. Drinks amazing, food amazing, service amazing, everything amazing. This place is a must visit! Our waitress Floor was the best!

Charming, cosy brasserie with great food, extensive wine list and friendly service. We had a fresh beet salad and a plate of claims in white wine followed by a perfectly cooked turbo to share. Another great gem in Amsterdam.

Arrived for a pre show snack and drink without a reservation on a drizzly cool day and unfortunately the restaurant was fully booked. However they were willing to serve me at the outdoor table and, since I was dressed for the weather, I decided to enjoy the people watching in this theatre district. Excellent food and service - and I’m sure inside is even better!

We went to a performance in Carré and only had an hour before the performance started. We were allowed to order a dish quickly and it was delivered quickly to the table, it was delicious and we arrived at the theater in plenty of time. Recommended!
