We had a truly wonderful evening. Delicious food, fantastic wine, and everything was taken care of down to the last detail. I felt completely pampered!

Positive: Everyone here is really hardworking, and a well-coordinated team works hand in hand in a colorful restaurant with a vintage feel. Unfortunately, there's also this: While the service from the kitchen was good, it wasn't tasty at all for us. After that, things didn't get much better. While there were good wine recommendations, not a single one of the five courses was truly delicious. For example, the lamb had more fat than meat, and the dessert was completely unappealing... a real shame, and that's for a lot of money. Unfortunately, I really can't recommend this place!

Everything was clearly explained, including the origins of the ingredients. They use a lot of local ingredients. You can taste it. The service was also very friendly. You immediately felt at ease. We were the only guests. A tiny appetizer and two flatfish, estimated at 80g each, and three beers. Total: €91.00. Everyone has to decide for themselves whether to eat there...

Our last evening in Bergen we decided to eat here and it certainly did not disappoint! After a warm welcome we chose the 5-course surprise menu and we can highly recommend it. A nice combination of meat and fish dishes, a soup and a delicious surprise dessert. Most of it from local or national quality products from the current season. The recommended wines also go well with it. But most important of all; a very relaxed and friendly atmosphere! No decadent fuss but just relaxed enjoyment of delicious food and drinks. We would love to come back again!

Two evenings ate at Elvi… that says enough right? Only positive experiences! (Although the first evening the whipped cream was missing from the dessert😜) in short, really recommended to eat here!!

We had dinner here this evening with two couples and a small child. Both couples have enjoyed eating out often and well for many years and have plenty of experience with good restaurants. At first there was already no high chair for a small child, already not a good start. Right at the beginning the waiter made full-bodied to slightly pompous statements about wines and dishes. The menu also called for prices, for example a tomahawk steak for 130 euros or chateaubriand for 104 euros, that suggested excellent culinary performance. First of all, the waiter promised us a small plate for the child, as well as a treat and water bowl for the dog. Despite being reminded twice, we didn't receive either until the end. After actively asking about the menu, we were able to order after an initial delay. By the way: the starter took an hour and a half, but it was completely fine. We chose, among other things, the Chateaubriand. Although this was grilled medium, it was extremely tough and, above all, contained a large, tough tendon. Overall, really poorly prepared and already cold when served. I could have done a lot better myself. After white wine with the starters, we told the waiter long before the main course that we would like to drink a bottle of Negroamaro with it. After the main course was almost eaten, he told us that it was over and disappeared again only to come back AFTER the main course with a completely inappropriate alternative wine. Overall, we barely saw a waiter after the starter, received an average meal at best (without the accompanying wine) and ultimately ended the meal prematurely disappointed. And that for at least 400 euros for 4 people. We can only advise against it.

If you fancy dog fights with your meal and eating at a place where dogs are treated better than people then this is the place for you. After posting the above review the owners sent a message asking for additional details on the food and service. Here are the facts: We were not even fully seated when the dog barking and fighting was in full display and dogs were freely walking around the restaurant unleashed and unattended. After expressing our intense discomfort, the service staff, instead of asking the noisy, inconsiderate guests that lack the mental health, hygiene or manners to leave their uneducated, smelly, filthy dogs at home on Christmas Eve, we were moved to a stinky, hot, smelly, empty terrace and promised there would be no dogs. This promise was of course not kept, as at least three different dogs kept going in and out in front of us for dog per breaks. No effort was made by the service staff to stop that behavior by, for example, having the guests use the back door. Dogs were allowed to roam unleashed on the premises. No apologies were offered. The staff’s lies and lack of compassion for paying guests were on full display throughout the meal. As a result of what we witnessed, we were left wondering if there was any dog hair or dog feces in our food. Frankly I wouldn’t be surprised. In any case, we have been frequenting numerous high end restaurants in Bergen over the last 15 years. We have never before eaten in such an awful environment. Food wise, a place that leaves you wondering if there is dog in your food is not a high end establishment (unless it’s a Korean or Chinese restaurant with dog meat on the menu). For guests from the United States : heads up, the Netherlands apparently doesn’t have laws banning dogs from food establishments, so you really need to pay attention to where you go if you don’t want to get sick. Bottom line: there are plenty of other better food and ambience options in town. Do not recommend.

What an amazing evening this was! Fantastic food, and delicious wines. You will receive a very warm welcome here and enjoy various high-end dishes in a casual atmosphere. If you really want to go out for a luxurious meal in the Bergen area, look no further. Elvira and Victor are super warm people who will leave you wanting for nothing. Simply great!!!

We had dinner here with 4 people based on the good reviews and to be honest we were quite disappointed. The Langoustines in the starter contained lemongrass which tasted overpowering, this ingredient was not listed on the menu. We returned this and the dish was taken off the bill. The steak ordered tasted fine, but was as good as cold even though it had been under the warming lamp for at least 10 minutes so that the chef could prepare the rest of the dishes. After we reported this, we were told that the cook simply does not cook hot. 🤷🏻‍♀️The herb butter served on the steak had a dominant lemon flavor. Unfortunately, the ordered fries took a long time to arrive, they were placed on the table when everyone had already finished their main course. Shame! I cannot rate the wines ordered separately here, they were good and would have received 5 stars.

To analyze whether the price of EUR 42.50 for a shot of whiskey is in line with the market, we can compare the price per milliliter (ml) of the bottle and the shot. Charming Lunch Experience We were looking for a nice place for lunch during our visit to Bergen, NH, and found Bistro Elvi. It's a hidden gem that offers a nice culinary experience amidst the town's scenic beauty. We enjoyed a tasty vegetarian dish of sautéed mushrooms on toast. The restaurant's elegant interior and cozy outdoor seating area adds to its appeal. With friendly staff, reasonable prices, and a relaxed atmosphere, Bistro Elvi is a hidden gem worth visiting. It's located in front of the ruin church. The Saturday market adds to the overall charm of the town.

Absolutely lovely and delicious! The food was incredible, views of the church + surrounding town are hard to beat and the owners were gracious. We let them know it was our honeymoon and they brought out rose petals to make it an extra special evening. They truly go above and beyond to deliver a wonderful dining experience and even gave us thoughtful suggestions of activities to do in town. We had a variety of dishes including the trout, duck pâté, roast chicken, and truffle ravioli - all of it was exceptional. We can’t wait to go back!

Teleurstellend… hoge verwachtingen en hadden wat te vieren. Voor- en nagerechten hadden weinig te doen met een chef. De paté bestond dit keer uit twee heel dunne rondjes en twijfel of het zelfgemaakt was. Dame blanche was beschamend. Dat is knap. Keurig van rekening gehaald. Prijs-kwaliteitverhouding verder volledig zoek. Hoofdgerecht met zeeduivel was daarentegen prima op smaak en zag er aantrekkelijk uit. Wijnkaart en bediening ook prettig.

Wij hebben een geweldige avond gehad bij Elvi en genoten van een heerlijk 4 gangen verassingsmenu. De wijnen die geserveerd werden waren heel passend en smakelijk en de gastvrijheid/bediening erg vriendelijk en flexibel. Mijn vriendinnen en ik komen hier graag nog eens een keer terug!

Wij hebben vanavond fantastisch gegeten met hele goede bijpassende wijnen. Echt genoten van de gezellige sfeer en de fijne bediening. Ik kom zeker nog eens terug!

We werden heel vriendelijk ontvangen. Met de reservering was iets mis gegaan, maar dit werd goed opgelost. Het eten was jammergenoeg teleurstellend.. Mijn man had mij mee uit eten genomen voor mijn verjaardag. We hadden een 5 en 6 gangen menu. Mijn hoofdgerecht vond ik niet lekker. De keuken had geen alternatief hiervoor. Ook werd er geen drankje van het huis aangeboden hiervoor. Met de opmerking dat ik jarig was werd niets gedaan. De overige gangen wel lekker, maar hoeveelheid niet in verhouding met de prijs. Toen we buiten stonden hadden we nog steeds trek. Ook de wachttijd tussen de gangen duurden veel te lang. Ik vond het ook niet zo fris dat er niet een apart damestoilet aanwezig was. Heel jammer, want het restaurant is heel gezellig en smaakvol ingericht.

Wat een super restaurant. Warm ontvangst. Je voelt meteen de gastvrijheid en de kennis van de gerechten. Perfect advies over bijpassende wijnen. De smaken zijn vernieuwend en de hoeveelheden in verhouding. Heerlijk doorlopend gegeten en gedronken. Zoals een perfecte avond uiteten moet zijn. Een echte aanrader. Wij komen terug bij ELVI

Super lekker en mooi gegeten bij ElVi in Bergen.

Fijn ontvangen, een mooie plek en heerlijk eten. Helaas bij het eerste gerecht een haar in het eten. Na een uur geen oprechte aandacht meer. Na het hoofdgerecht nog een friet besteld, omdat we nog honger hadden. De bediening vertelde dat dit niet mogelijk was, omdat alle friet voor de avond op was. Beetje jammer, want we zagen dat in de open keuken de chefs frietjes aan het eten waren. Jammer om een fijne avond af te sluiten met een negatief gevoel.

Een kerst markt bezocht rondom de kerk, en aansluitend naar ElVi voor de lunch.. Wat een feestje, warme ontvangst, heerlijk gegeten en gedronken.. Echt heerlijk gegeten en een gezellige/romantische sfeer om te dineren! Daarnaast mooi zicht op de open keuken. Een menukaart die verrast en je niet gebruikelijk ziet bij restaurants. Erg vriendelijk personeel en eigenaren. In de gerechten die je geserveerd krijgt is duidelijk een passie voor koken te proeven en met aandacht samengesteld. Als wij weer in de buurt van Bergen zijn, dan komen we zeker nog een keer terug!

Heerlijk gegeten. Gangenmenu waren smaaksensaties! Bijpassende wijnen die werden geserveerd ook erg lekker. 👍🏼 Fijne ambiance (Parijs-gevoel) en heerlijke muziek op achtergrond. Gastvrijheid was super! Een heerlijke avond uit. Een aanrader!

Bistro ElVi , de eerste keer dat ik er gegeten heb. Jammer dat ik er niet al eerder was. Het eten was echt heel erg lekker. Allemaal verrassend lekkere combinaties in perfecte porties. Zulke lekkere limoncello had ik niet eerder geproefd. De bedieding is aardig, gastvrij en behulpzaam. Je voelt je direct op je gemak. Een dikke tien en we gaan vaker.
