The coffee was, by all measurable standards, excellent—rich, complex, and seemingly imbued with the sort of cosmic significance one only finds in particularly good espressos or ancient philosophical riddles. The barista, a person who had clearly made a Faustian pact with both caffeine and vinyl, curated the music with the same precision as the coffee itself, ensuring that every sip was accompanied by exactly the right soundtrack for an existentially satisfying caffeine experience. The establishment, small and endearingly cluttered with records and bicycles, radiated warmth, though its seating arrangements suggested a deep and possibly personal grudge against the concept of human spinal comfort. The chairs, if one could call them that, seemed to be constructed from reclaimed shipwrecks or the broken dreams of ergonomics professors. But such trivial concerns faded away under the influence of a properly brewed cup and a well-chosen record, leaving only the gentle realization that, in this moment, all was as it should be.

Great hidden place, small but cozy atmosphere. The coffe was great. My friend got herself a vinyl and told me there are so many little treasures of music. The staff was friendly. The only weird thing was, that the employee took a picture from my friend and the vinyl she bought. She told her it's for the owner. My friend didn't mind it so it was okay, I was just asking myself why they needed that...

Coincidentally came across this place while passing by. The owner was friendly and very open/accessible for a nice chat. The coffee was tasty, there was also plant-based milk. The prices were very okay. You can sit there against the window with a view of the plates!

Great coffee and great tunes. You can choose your own brewing method and beans here and while I haven't tried all of them I can highly recommend the V60 with the Guatemala beans. Beware of the espresso drink here. They're super tasty but super strong ☕

Photos hardly match, it is busy full of stuff (junk) Do not sit comfortably on hard wooden blocks. And the most important: coffee not good!!!! Man oh man, does it even contain coffee? 6 grams or something? Tastes like espresso instant coffee with steamed milk And the employee was very customer friendly, a bit grumpy and mumbling

I had a Pina colada V60. I could get the sweetness and the pineapple like flavors. I like that the atmosphere is completely different to the usually aesthetic specialty coffee shop style. I got a free espresso and had a nice chat with the barista.

Out of the five speciality coffee places I tried this is the best one. Actually does pourover V60 and has a selection of beans.

The place to be in this part of the city for a good cup of coffee. Elite-proof oat milk, beans from White Label, baristas who can make coffee and a Massala Chai without flavor enhancers. Oh yes, and records ;)

I have been here with my partner today and this has been the worst experience I've had as a customer in The Netherlands by far. From entering the shop we were treated in a very snobbish way by the barista. The place was not busy, we were the only ones ordering, and asked for two cortados, one with regular milk and one with oat milk. The barista then put both cups in front of us, made zero eye contact and indicated which one had the oat milk in a very vague, blasé gesture. Neither me or my partner understood clearly which cup was which, so she asked for confirmation. Instead of being a decent human being and explaining again, the barista just stood there, looking bored and annoyed at my partner while she tried to guess and ask, and after a few tries of hers (to which he didn't offer a clear reply), just said in the most disgusting, infuriating way possible: "the oat is the one I pointed at at first", before turning away. Frankly, if you think the job of explaining to your customers which cup is safe for them to drink is below you, you should most definitely consider a career change. The coffee was decent (not even close in quality to other coffees we've had in Amsterdam), but the experience was bitter and the taste of the coffee is not what we'll remember from the visit.

I used to like coming here for a coffee but after visiting on a Sunday morning and experiencing weird customer service from the POC and guy with pink hair I’d rather not return, mostly interested in which song they were gonna play They seem to think this place is a rave venue to play their loud cheesy music instead of reading the room which was people of a certain age and a chill Sunday vibe. Not even monitoring people walking through the door and serving customers that had just walked in opposed to those waiting a long time for a mediocre coffee to which the milk was steamed with the same adequacy as an Albert Heijn coffee machine disappointing and wouldn’t recommend

The establishment has an incredible atmosphere, a mix between a vinyl store and a cafe. The coffee served is of high quality. The barista (who I think is the owner) is welcoming and available to explain the different types of coffee. A place to visit!

Bizarre and frustrating customer experience. It wasn’t clear how or where I ordered. After asking for a cold brew I was told to retrieve it myself from the fridge. I was told to pay when I left, as if I was maintaining a bar tab. Maybe this is the American in me speaking, but I like to do work on my laptop in coffee shops. I was told to put my laptop away despite the total lack of signs forbidding laptops. I wouldn’t have purchased coffee here if I knew that was the policy. The coffee itself was fine. Amsterdam suffers from a lack of cold brew so points for that.

Hisper cafe with nice selection of vinyls. Barists are trying their best but the coffee is still not as good as I would expected it to be☕️ but if you are looking more for cool atmosphere than speciality coffee - go for it!😀

Good coffee, I've been coming here for about 4 years, not the best in Amsterdam but just good. It's just a pity that the owner is sometimes blunt and very unkind. Reason for me to look elsewhere. There is much more good coffee and that is even possible with nice people in Amsterdam. Tips: Toki, the Koffieschenkerij or Lot61 in Double Tree by Hilton.

I went there yesterday and it was such nice Cafe with a very cool vibe, with vinyls and books. The barista, whose name I didn't ask, was super nice and friendly and she would answer and talk about all sorts of things related to coffee with you.

Discovered a few years ago and since then a must during my stays in Amsterdam. Cozy atmosphere and the manager/barista is super friendly/welcoming. You can enjoy a very good coffee there and at the same time hunt for vinyl records. Quality selection for Hip-hop and Soul/Jazz fans with labels like Stones Throw or Mellow Music. In short, a good place to stop for a coffee

I went there for V60 filter coffee after I saw the LP’s from outside, but the barista told us it’s not available anymore. So we ordered americano instead. Then the barista said V60 was available as an option and he thought we were asking for the batch brew. Didn’t offer to change them. We drank the americanos. He was mostly on his phone and didn’t care about the customers anyway. It was also dirty inside, and used coffee mugs uncleaned were lying everywhere. Lastly, even though there are nice LP’s in the shop, music was unnecessaryly loud and not for the ambiance (mostly electronic). Wouldn’t suggest

A true gem! Time seems to stand still in Café Black Gold. I loved the mint ginger tea and the delicious coconut water, both made from fresh ingredients. The creative use of the term 'Black Gold' for records and coffee is simply brilliant and very personable. I highly recommend this cafe, especially for a relaxing time in Amsterdam. We ordered two coffees here, one latte and one cortado. The latte was nice, and was great without sugar. The cortado however was awful, and we didn’t drink all of it. The barista was relatively friendly but nothing to write home about, and he played some nice ambient jazz music. You can also purchase some coffee gear and lots of vinyl records, as well as some merch that they have behind the counter. Overall a nice place to grab a quick coffee (latte), but I wouldn’t necessarily add it to my list of places to visit in Amsterdam.

Far from the madding crowd. Something a bit different in Amsterdam, a coffee shop that doesn't have, WiFi or allow the smoking of Mary Jane. Just a coffeeshop that serves excellent coffee with cool music in the background.

I used to be a frequenter in here. But once the owner made an offensive remarks calling my tics a pushy behavior. Instead of ignoring the tics as usually the polite people do this guy begin to attack me in an agressieve way. Very unfriendly, very ignorant and impolite

It's such a cool chilled out coffee shop, and it's definitely a cafe that I will be returning when to Amsterdam. The cafe works serve you some coffee (I had a Cappuccino, which was perfect. You can buy a cake, then sit on a sofa and enjoy the vibe while listening to hip hop, and what I must add, a very good selection of albums. You can spend all day just chilling. The music wasn't overpowering with the volume. It's just right. The location of the cafe isn't too far either. What five minutes walk from the centre of Amsterdam, which is also perfect if you want to get away from the hussle and bussle of Amsterdam. Again, please visit when in Amsterdam!!!

The Brazilian cafe we ordered was even worse than the McDonald cafe. The place is too dirty and so small that it is enough for maximum 10 people. You can praise music and not talk about it. I can't understand why people really gave so many good reviews.

Very cozy record store with a small, fine and niche range of nice hip-hop stuff; There are also selected publications; Excellent coffee/cappuccino, which you can enjoy while browsing through magazines in the back part of the shop with good music! Mega friendly owner :)

This spot is very unique. The guy running the shop is very sociable and funny. Definitely one of the best lattes I had in my stay. Great music and a great atmosphere.

Arrived at the place just as the door opened up. Monsieur Barista nailed it, from the music choice of “Like a ship” to the coffee pairing of “red honey” beans. On top of everything, I am grateful for his sharing of knowledge to demystify different ways of processing and beans. It’s a dream :)

Excellent coffee, atmosphere, service, and price-to-quality. Barista was super busy but was still nice, high quality, and quick. There was also live music as the place has a big focus on vinyl records if I recall correctly.

Come here often with my partner and love the atmosphere here. Amsterdam prices of course but the atmosphere makes up for it. Wish they had decaf but besides that amazing place
