Not good, fries fried way too hard, didn't get a discount because of the bad food.

A unique place in the middle of the forest. The old open-air theater right next to the restaurant makes a stunning impression and gives the place a unique character. The setting is perfect for relaxation. It's definitely worth a visit just for the atmosphere!

After a theater performance, we settled down here for a drink and a charcuterie board. The children had a great time playing in the playground. It was so cozy that we spontaneously decided to stay for dinner as well. De Kip van Nel is highly recommended! For the boys, we had a toasted sandwich and mini pancakes, which were also a big hit. Nice atmosphere, great place for the kids, and delicious food. We will definitely be back!

De Rode Lelie Visited this establishment because of: the location in the forest the playground the menu PARKING Easily accessible via a somewhat bumpy forest path. Upon arrival, there were no signs whatsoever indicating where to park the car. As a result, we unintentionally drove onto a path between the terrace and the playground (and back again, because nothing was indicated regarding parking). We just parked the car somewhere among the trees, just like a few other parkers. PLAYGROUND It wasn't lunchtime yet, so we headed into the playground. The operator should be utterly ashamed to advertise this. The first piece of equipment to spin on was unusable due to defects and could therefore perhaps be considered dangerous. Tractor, truck, and car tires were lying here and there: what are you supposed to do with those? Sit on them, and then what? In the middle was a dirty black mud puddle that you would rather not see your child slip and fall into; yikes. There was one slide that the little one could climb up and slide down by themselves. The other 2 were either too high or difficult to access, so they were immediately ruled out. Yes, yes, there was a well-functioning seesaw, unfortunately not suitable for her age. Well, even a swing she could swing on safely. The whole place was poorly maintained, broken, or unsuitable. TERRACE We picked out a table to have our lunch there. Under the canopy hung a musty smell, which (as it turned out later) was many times worse inside the restaurant. And smoking turned out not to be a problem there. SERVICE It was quick and attentive, and the lunch was on the table inside within an acceptable time. That was also the signal for 50 billion filthy flies to land on your table, drink, dish, or your own body. It was a hopeless task to swat the insects away. In our opinion, this was not due to the "forest" phenomenon, but rather to the adjacent (and screened off with canvas) horse stables. Yuck!! PAYING The service really dropped the ball there, because we didn't get any attention at all anymore. So we just went inside ourselves (into that musty shack) and paid the bill. OUR CONCLUSION Beautiful wooded surroundings Bad playground Musty terrace and restaurant Maximum amount of vermin on and around your table Dishes were adequate, but not top-notch (Healthy sandwich €11.50) Never going back! 4.5 stars: bought off somewhere#scandalous

We were there for lunch today and were very impressed. The staff were friendly and understood everything even though we only spoke German. We highly recommend the food; it was delicious.

Nice, open atmosphere in good weather, that's for sure. Simple meals; perhaps ask the customer if coriander is needed or not. But tasty nonetheless. Even a simple bowl of soup with bread was delicious and well-presented. Not very expensive. Great service despite a really full terrace. Highly recommended, and they handle crowds really well. And there is room for a lot of people. A large part of this is in the open air. There is still room when it rains, though less.

Saw a wonderful performance, had a delicious meal, but I do have a serious complaint. It was scorching hot today. At the show, they were selling 330ml bottles of water for €3.00!!!!!!!! These cost €4.98 at Jumbo for a whole tray of 24 bottles!!!! Note: this is €0.20 per bottle! In this weather, water should simply be offered for free!!!!!!! Then, when we wanted to get another bottle during the intermission (Note: that would have cost us €12.00 for 4 bottles of 330ml, worth €0.80 total), some grumpy woman was standing at the end of the line refusing people because "she was the last in line." We went back to our seats, only to see her just nonchalantly sitting back in her chair???? Excuse me, but downright unacceptable!!! So, are you coming here? Bring your own (filled) bottle! Or get a tray yourself at Jumbo and sell them for €0.50 each, you'll still make a profit...

I celebrated my 50th birthday at De Rode Lelie and had a fantastic party! Great service, smooth communication, flexible, and delicious food! Highly recommended!

What a nice cafe near the open-air theater. Great for a lovely walk in the surrounding woods and around the fens, stopping here for a drink and a bite to eat in between for the next leg of the journey. This time we only had drinks, so no review of the food.

A cafe in the vicinity of a forest. You have the choice to sit next to the fireplace or go inside. We chose to sit next to the fireplace with blankets on our lap. Cool atmosphere. The deportation is not very special but the service is good and the food was also delicious. We went for their mushroom soup and an Italian toast. The walking area is just nearby and you can walk around a nice lake in the middle of the woods. The walk could be between 1-3 hours based on the route you choose. Surely recommended for a half day trip with good food and drinks.

Always good, nice and relaxed. This is where the Bon Vivants and forest lovers come. The service is excellent, and the food is also top-notch. The presentation is excellent. Children can have fun in the playground and in the woods. There's also a puppet theater with children's performances on Wednesdays, and for parties and celebrations, you needn't look any further. There's also a beautiful old amphitheater with a very special, fairytale atmosphere. A true gem in the pearl of Brabant!

A truly child-friendly forest café where you can enjoy a delicious meal and the kids can play happily. Unfortunately, there's no smoke-free terrace, as you'll be completely smoked out by dying smokers who have nothing to say other than smoking as a hobby.

Some of the playground equipment is out of order. But the biggest drawback is the very poor view of the playground from the patio, and there's no fence to keep children out of the way. So I left immediately.

Had a great family day with BBQ. Great location with warm weather, nice between the trees and lots of fun for the kids. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. The owner is very flexible and thinks along well. The BBQ was very well taken care of and extensive with delicious fresh salads and good meat. Tasty spreads and tasty bread. Oh yes and don't forget the fries! The price-quality ratio is good. Nothing more to do:-) Thank you Melvin and staff for the great afternoon.

Family had a bbq. Too bad that as a vegetarian you get such poor culinary satisfaction. Luckily at home there was some food left from the day before.

They are worth it. What a wonderful place. Even if Oisterwijk is full... here you are in peace, free..... in the forest with a playground for the little ones. Young staff that is nicely managed. I did not find my salad tasty was replaced by a new one without any fuss. I would say go there for a wonderful time outside. Indoor / covered is also possible. There were certainly 3 parties and the service was okay!

Had a lovely lunch and friendly staff during lunch. Afterwards we wanted to do the treasure hunt with the children, but because there was a performance in the theatre we could not walk the entire route. This was not mentioned in advance by the staff. When we asked in the restaurant it was very difficult to get compensation for this, reluctantly a 'discount' was given instead of money back. When the children wanted an ice cream afterwards, there was almost no choice, and the choice that was there was completely frozen in the packaging. Ice cream from last year perhaps?

With bad weather much too busy under the canopy and something went wrong from the kitchen. Eventually solved, but it was difficult to address staff. Also someone else came by every time, it seems to me more convenient to make a division who does which tables instead of serving criss-cross and not knowing who is what for.

With a large group a bbq. Well reserved, enough and friendly staff only for us. Good ample bbq.

Unfortunately, there has recently been a new menu from which the delicious satay (and spare ribs) have disappeared. As an alternative, I chose fries and stew. Unfortunately it was not very tasty. Thin, fairly bland sauce and it was difficult to find the stew. The amount of wine per glass is also no longer what it used to be. 5.20 for a glass of wine is fine, but there were no more than 3 sips of wine in the glasses served. A shame for such a nice place! Service was as usual (and therefore great), but next time I would rather have lunch elsewhere in the Oisterwijk woods.

Sinds 15 jaar komen al bij de Rode Lelie tijdens elke vakantie. Een schitterende plek. Persoonlijk vind ik het ook geweldig dat het het hoofdgebouwtje gewoon stil blijft staan in de tijd van binnen met Cees zijn jas aan de kapstok...mooi! Het personeel vind dit keer echter een drama, vijandige sfeer. We waren laat, kan gebeuren, we hadden tickets voor de vinylavond en telefonisch werd beloofd dat er gegeten kon worden bij aankomst voor half 8. Ter plekke werden we vreemd behandeld, mochten alleen frituur bestellen en kregen we € 11,30 extra op onze rekening aangeslagen. Personeelslid wat afrekende wist dondersgoed dat de rekening niet klopte. Was bijna bij de auto en ben omgedraaid om het recht te trekken. Rest van de vakantie Rode Lelie maar overgeslagen...vreemde nasmaak, heel jammer!

Card is expensive. We made a reservation and were called half an hour later to tell us where we were staying. I had reserved for 4 people, they thought 14.

great location, reasonable BBQ. We had booked a party for a number of anniversaries. After 1 baco the bacardi was gone, after 6 gin and tonics the Gin was gone. at some point also the special draft beer. Particularly bad for a planned party for 30 people, especially for a catering event at the beginning of the season.

Boscafe de Rode Lelie is a great place for young and old. I had chosen the location for a memorable birthday party. They had reserved a nice space outside close to the playground where the children played wonderfully and we as parents could supervise well. We enjoyed ourselves in a casual, relaxed atmosphere. The service is attentive and very friendly. Food was very good. I received the same feedback from the guests, that they also enjoyed themselves. I look back on a great party, where everything was well organised. Thank you!

Beautiful location in the middle of the forest. We sat down on the terrace at the end of the afternoon on a busy day to have a drink and something to eat. Children had a great time playing, unfortunately the slide was out of use because it was not safe. The food was tasty but the portion was too small for an adult. Both the carpaccio meal salad and the fries with stew were very small in our opinion.

Always good quality food and a nice playground for the little ones. Prices are also on the lower side (not as expensive as the Iron Man in Vught for example or in Den Bosch and Oisterwijk center). Update: the slide still hasn't been fixed after about 1.5 years? Also a bit dangerous; the thing is there and little ones still climb and clamber on it. Costs some stars.

Very nice atmosphere. In the cold months a wood stove for extra warmth. Tasty food, nice beer selection and attentive friendly service. It's a pity that you are not allowed to make reservations for less than 10 people.

The food was mediocre and not special at all, but the service was well-intentioned but lousy, after half an hour they came to take the order and start eating half an hour later. Not worth repeating for us.

Boscafé De Rode Lelie is a cozy place with a nice terrace, where we had delicious food and drinks. The atmosphere is relaxed and the staff friendly. However, there is some deferred maintenance; Both the building and the chairs are clearly in need of renovation. Unfortunately, this detracts somewhat from the experience, but we still had a nice time. With some renovation this place would really come into its own. Well worth a visit, especially on a sunny day.

Very nice place to go with young children. There is a large play garden where they can play. The service is very friendly. We once ordered a cheese board here, which was very tasty.

You can sit here in the woods near a playground. Had a delicious, tender spare rib. It was also very nice late summer weather.

This beautiful place is situated in the forest of a lovely village in Noord Brabant Holland, in the charming city of Oisterwijk. A playground stands by and children can play while the adults visit with coffee, drinks and plenty of great food choices. Try different beers and don’t forget an order of bitterballen and poffertjes. Historic really, I’ve visited since I was a child and I’m old now:) Get on your bike and ride through “de Bossen” (forest) on the fairy tale trails and stop at De Rode Lelie.

Ordered bread with croquettes. Bread very hard, also the croquettes were baked for too long. The dogs also had little taste. The bread given with butter could not be eaten yet. Very bad experience, response at cash register, oh, will pass it on to the table, no response from employees either.

The food was really mediocre. Poffertjes for the children were undercooked, after reporting this we received new ones. These were hard and still raw. The toast with avocado (and salmon or burrata) was not tasty. It is a kind of avocado sauce that is spread on it. The eggs from the bouncer were so overcooked that the yolk fell out. In addition, we had to wait half an hour for ordered drinks and even an hour for lunch. There was always a line of 5 to 6 people at the toilet and the toilets were very dirty. The large slide in the playground was broken. There is little to do in the playground for older children. The service was friendly and the prices are good. But unfortunately, all things considered, we won't be coming back.
