Real nice Bar at the seafront. The bar is kind of an oldschool beachbar as you know them from last century. This is an outstanding positiv meant description as the bar does absolutly not lag of style and atmosphere. They have seats inside and outside. As you sit outside glas walls protect you from the wind while you have a great view on the dunes and the sea. The service was realy polite and the coffee with the small cinnamon treats tasted awful.

Love the location....But, pay close attention: the water is more than the wine, the fries don't come with the burger, and there's pork in your '100% beef (Angus)' burger. We enjoyed our meal, we enjoyed the location, but we were overcharged, for the 2nd time. Obviously, we continue to return...... lovely place

The service (an older woman) was rude and dishonest. She charged me €5 for an espresso that cost a maximum of €4. She didn't even give me a receipt. I'll never come back here again.

A fantastic restaurant. The food is perfect. The service is super friendly. And all this in a pleasant atmosphere with relaxing music. I'll be back again!

The food was fine. We didn't really feel welcome. We didn't have a reservation, and she really wanted to help us quickly and get us out of there so the table could be used again. Such a shame.

We are outside overlooking the dunes and the beach

Normally, I hardly ever write a bad review. The hospitality industry is already struggling enough. This time, I felt it necessary to perhaps spare others a stomachache. We ordered two burgers (at 19.50 each, it's already quite expensive, especially if you pay extra for fries). You expect quality at least. The burger was cold, very tough, and had a peculiar aftertaste. After mentioning this to two different employees, they almost shrugged their shoulders and responded with, "Oh, I wouldn't know, I've never had it before." This last comment was probably clever, as we both had stomach problems after eating the (half) burger. Mistakes happen. I understand that things can go wrong in the kitchen. But I find the indifference with which they reacted very reprehensible. Especially when it turns out later that the burger wasn't quite right.

Good service and friendly staff. However, the food didn't meet expectations.

We didn't let the bad reviews deter us and stopped by the brasserie today. The service was prompt and friendly, and our table by the window with a view of the sea made the visit perfect. Our ordered food was good and delicious. It made our day perfect, despite the rain.

Nice terrace, good atmosphere, good food

I was here with residents of a nursing home, who wanted to go to the sea again. The staff made us feel very welcome, very nice!! (And everyone ate well)

We have been to this restaurant several times. Unfortunately the quality of the food has dropped considerably (new owners?) and the portions are small. For example the chicken sate had a very small amount of sauce and there were no fries (these have to be bought separately). We also ordered caesar salad. The chicken was the prefab sliced chicken you find in sandwiches and there was no sauce. The drinks came when we had almost finishes our main course. We came here for our son’s graduation because he liked it so much. I’m afraid we will not be back. Very disappointing.

Best place for good food and drinks in a beautiful (sunset) setting. Friendly helpful staff and the best thing is they're open all year round. Won't be our last visit, easy cheaper parking as well !

We had a delicious meal, but the portions were so meager that after dinner for four (@172 euros total) we prepared a meal at home. Slip sole was served as 'sea wolf'. Service was otherwise perfect!

Coffee with apple pie, very tasty, top service

De badmeester is een eenvoudige, maar gezellige strandtent. Van binnenuit zie je het strand niet helemaal helder, maar toch. In aanleg heeft deze tent alles mee. Maar vandaag moesten we 5,50 euro betalen voor een koffie verkeerd. Zoveel heb ik in ons land nog nooit betaald voor een koffie verkeerd. En was het nou een speciale koffie? Nee. Gewoon een koffie verkeerd. Het staat niet meer in verhouding met de prijs. Dat was de laatste keer voor ons in de Badmeester. Ondanks de vriendelijke bediening en een levende gouden paashaas voor de deur om bezoekers aan te trekken. We snappen nu waarom.

The cooking here is great. And you can get both a seat and really tasty food even after 8 p.m. We recommend the place over 100%. It was more than perfect. A huge thank you to everyone on the team. You're doing a really great job. 😘🥰❤️❣️

Top tent, friendly service and what a nice sun today

A hidden gem above the dunes! Brasserie de Badmeester is one of those places that instantly makes you smile. Perched a little higher up on the dunes, it offers a lovely view and a peaceful, breezy atmosphere—perfect after a beach walk. The brasserie itself has a cozy, slightly older charm that feels welcoming and relaxed. We sat outside, surrounded by cheeky little birds who clearly know the menu and aren’t shy to ask for a bite—part of the charm if you’re eating by the sea! The waiter was absolutely lovely: friendly, quick, and full of humour, making the whole experience feel easy and warm. The food was just what you’d hope for: good, honest brasserie fare. And to top it off, they serve Wassenaars’ own Crooked Spider beer—a great local touch. Definitely a spot we’ll return to. A perfect mix of location, atmosphere, and friendly service.

Very bad service, mediocre food

After waiting 85 minutes for our food, it was served with cold fries and lukewarm meat. And we kept ordering drinks while we waited. That's good for sales. If you think you're going out for a nice meal, you won't come home full and grumpy. When we paid, we weren't even asked if everything was to our liking. I did tell them what I thought of the situation. We really regret not leaving after waiting 60 minutes. We'll definitely never be back.

It's a real shame. It's actually a lovely location in the dunes. However, the service is unfortunately very poor. The food comes differently than described on the menu, and there are no changes or substitutions upon request. No need to repeat.

Nice cappuccino, took a long time

Antisocial people, when you ask for the restroom, send you to a filthy public one. "Our restrooms are for guests," is the comment. I could have been with family, a missed opportunity. I will never go back to this jellyfish farm.

They already mentioned being short-staffed. But because you know someone, giving them priority seating instead of saying hello and goodbye is sloppy. The wine glass was also dirty. We were promptly given a new one. But I wouldn't go there again anytime soon.

We had a delicious meal at Brasserie de Badmeester. The staff were very friendly and there was clearly a good working atmosphere. This, combined with the cozy atmosphere of the restaurant, made for a pleasant experience! The food was delicious and in generous portions. Nothing special or special, just delicious. But the view we had while dining was the highlight! Delicious food in a cozy atmosphere with lovely views of the beach! We would definitely come back!

Prime location close to the beach of Wassenaarse Slag

Nice beach tent, also open in winter. The food is not great, but the people are nice and the view - through the scratched windows - is beautiful.

You have too many tables and NOT enough staff. There were two really slow waiters who were not able to serve all. We waited 45 minutes, we even went up by ourselves to counter to place the order and we were rejected, sent back to wait. Eventually we tried to catch attention of staff just to order after 1hour of sitting and being fully ignored. Nothing. The waiting line in front of the place were just growing, no-one there even to suggest people to sit at the VACANT dozens tables! At least we were sitting. But after 1hour we had enough and just left. No one even cared to come up, staff were just ignoring new customers completely

A wonderful place with a beautiful view of the North Sea. And the food was delicious.

Very different from before. People had to stand in line for quite a while, even though there were many empty tables. The employees, who were actually trying their best, didn't even bat an eye... probably due to staff shortages. That really caused a lot of customers to leave. Such a shame. A strange feeling and atmosphere.

Too busy on Sunday morning. Waiting fifteen minutes to order a simple cup of coffee that is ultimately served in a dirty cup by a waiter who gives you the feeling that you are lucky that you are getting his attention at all... and yes, I could have reported that about that dirty cup, but I had to move on. Otherwise a nice place in a prime location, but the basics really need to be improved.

Lovely terrace with a sea view, but unfortunately you are sent away again, despite the fact that approximately half of the tables and chairs on the terraces are unoccupied.

Delicious starter of beet carpaccio, the wine is also good! Main course of duck breast and salmon were overcooked, making it dry. The salmon also had a lot of bones. Not pleasant food! Dessert was simple, not homemade and (too) sweet, not recommended. Ambience is cozy and nice and warm. Customer friendliness varies from friendly to surly. In short: a nice place for a glass of wine or hot chocolate, but the kitchen is not recommended and be sure to bring your own fun.

Sitting inside by the fire on a sunny winter Sunday was delightful en gezelig. All the food was verrukkelijk.

Excellent location by the sea, actually suitable for all weather conditions. It's a shame that (as a result?) not much attention is paid to quality and service. The service is not really nice. We only came for a coffee and therefore cannot give an opinion about the food. But this coffee moment was clearly below par. The cup of coffee was okay but the two cappuccinos were lukewarm and basically coffee with milk. The ordered pastry, apple strudel, arrived well after the coffee had already run out. Then it was soggy and mostly cold.

Nice cozy tent. The chocolate milk is no longer the same as it used to be.

We have been coming here for years, mainly because the location is great and not for the service. They are not friendly, in fact: they are really unfriendly and completely uninterested in their customers. Again today, unbelievable and unfortunate.

What a wonderful experience! The atmosphere in this catering business is really cozy and warm, exactly what you are looking for for a nice lunch or dinner. The decor is stylish, yet very cozy, so you immediately feel at home. Best of all is the breathtaking view of the sea. It is really enjoyable to sit there while looking out over the water. The food was absolutely great! Everything was fresh, tasty and prepared with great attention. The service was friendly and attentive, making me feel really welcome. This is definitely a place I will come back to soon!

De Badmeester was vroeger een gezellige plek aan de Wassenaarse Slag maar heeft sinds de overname niet alleen veel aan kwaliteit verloren maar is bovendien simpelweg ongezellig, zeker in de serre waar het tocht en je het gevoel hebt dat je in een veel te oude tent zit. Het personeel is allerminst klantvriendelijk en hebben moeite om zich in te leven. Voorts is De Badmeester buiten het zomerseizoen de enige horecagelegenheid waar je op de Wassenaarse Slag kan eten en drinken en daar maken ze wat ons betreft ook echt misbruik van: 6 kaasstengels voor EUR 9,- of een magere borrelplank voor maar liefst EUR 24,- is echt schandalig!

A cozy V.O.V. reunion, how is it possible that time is moved forward about 26 years (1998-2024). They were already great colleagues back then, nice to be present.

Nice location. The middle flutters above your head, which gives you even more the feeling that you are in nature.

Okay atmosphere, service was okay, but the food went wrong there. My kibbeling had hardly any herbs and was inedible, my fries had paprika herbs instead of salt and a lot of them too. Great restaurant if you have a lot of time on your hands.

The Caesar salad was downright disappointing. It was just chopped lettuce leaves with some croutons and three slices of chicken sandwich spread on top. For a price of no less than 21 euros. Where is this world going...

It's very nice to sit on the outside terrace when the weather is nice. I think the prices are quite expensive for the food. The fish was very dry and the calamari could no longer be described as such (fried far too long). It's a shame.

Correct, friendly service by the gentlemen present. Enjoy your meal. There is a large crowd of customers around lunchtime, partly because the beach pavilions are no longer open. This makes fast service more difficult with a slightly longer waiting time, but that is understandable.

My wife had a tuna melt sandwich, and I had shrimp croquettes with fries. The sandwich was only available on white bread. The croquettes and fries were very tasty, but there were very few fries. The bread with spreads was very tasty, and not stingy.
