Brasserie de Boshut in Herkenbosch

After well over ten minutes on the terrace, we had to wave down staff ourselves. There was absolutely no one else around. Once she reached our table, she didn't even say hello. It eventually arrived quickly, but there was no friendliness to be seen. Cola Zero was poured into a glass, so we had no idea if it was zero or where it came from. Drinks were practically thrown down, and not a single friendly word was spoken at that moment either.

The food was tasty. The soup arrived, and we didn't have any cutlery yet. Then we waited 45 minutes for the main course, while the soup bowls were still standing there. The main course arrived and, once again, we didn't have any cutlery.

What a lovely place it is. Enjoying a drink and a bite to eat. We’ve been coming here for years, and every time it’s a party! Good service and friendly. But one person takes the cake; we don’t know his name, but he’s beaming from ear to ear. Attention for everyone, and very sweet to animals too. I say, cherish this guy. Because he works hard. We’ll definitely be back next year!

We love coming here after a walk in the woods. They are super dog-friendly; there is a dog menu. The food is always well taken care of.

There were four of us in the evening, and the food and service were very good. However, we were surprised by the drink prices. A 0.5-liter draft beer cost €10, which we found expensive. Otherwise, everything was fine.

Given some of the comments, I went there with a heavy heart... The food was tasty, plentiful, and served with friendliness. What more could you ask for?

We ate there two days ago and were quite disappointed. The price-performance ratio is completely off. A portion of kibbeling (small round fish balls) with fries cost €19.50 – far too expensive for the quantity and, more importantly, the quality. Pasta alla Verdura was also €19.50 – unseasoned, and the portion size was more like a child's portion. For that kind of money, we wouldn't have gone home hungry anywhere else. It's a shame, considering the restaurant's great location and the friendly, helpful staff. But we won't be returning.

A lovely place to relax. Contrary to other reviews, we particularly liked the indoor dining area. Friendly service. Delicious food. Prices are now at a standard level. Some of the drinks are a bit pricey, but you don't have to order them, of course ;-)

The food was generally decent, but the steak was half medium and half rare. Ordering new drinks required considerable persistence (constantly watching and waving furiously whenever the staff looked at you; just looking wasn't enough). If you order the children's plate and the adults have an appetizer, it's impossible for the child to even get the fries from the children's plate (I specifically asked because it was obvious they hadn't thought of that, and the only answer was "it's not possible" – absolutely no willingness to find a solution). I later saw that there were coloring supplies for children, but they weren't even offered. There's a somewhat dated playground (some of the wood is very rotten) and a newer section. Children really need the latter, because everything takes forever, if you even manage to order anything at all. It wasn't even that busy, and the service at the other tables was just as slow and unproactive. Smoking is allowed everywhere on the terrace, and the fumes drift into the building. Why smoking is allowed in a restaurant in a natural setting, instead of providing a designated smoking area, is beyond me. Anyone who doesn't want to eat surrounded by smoke has to sit inside and still gets a whiff of it. The restrooms were reasonably clean, and there's a small children's shop, which is quite nice. A changing table is available for babies up to about 12 or 15 kg. Overall, I was very disappointed, because visually and in terms of location, it's a lovely restaurant. I've walked past it many times and really expected more.

We were there this afternoon. The ambiance is quite appealing, but overall very dark inside. Although there were many free tables, we were shown to a table at the very back that hadn't even been cleared. Furthermore, despite our request, they didn't even wipe down the table when we received our drinks. We then decided to order a second drink and ordered the platter for two. The platter for €26.50 was okay, but it might have been a bit meager if you were hungry.

Beautiful place. No experience with the kitchen, as it was still closed. The coffee was decent; I didn't find it particularly tasty. Plenty of parking spaces. A good base for hiking tours and, I believe, even horseback riding/carriage rides.

When we sat down on the terrace early Sunday afternoon, July 19th, a completely overwhelmed waiter approached us after 10 minutes and informed us that he was no longer taking orders. He told us we had to leave. We later learned that they hadn't hired enough staff for the beautiful weekend! Now the guests have to be kicked out because of poor staffing! Since I had been a regular customer there until then, we found this being asked to leave extremely upsetting! That was the last time I ever set foot in that place.

Ok, perfect beer just when needed!

For years we were frequent and happy patrons of Boshut – in every season. But in recent months, the quality has declined rapidly: listed ingredients are missing from dishes, and there are no substitutes, let alone compensation. Dishes are brought to the table half-finished, and the Aperol Spritz has been watered down on several occasions, etc. We still came back, though, because the atmosphere is simply wonderful, and each time we thought that maybe things would improve. But today we discovered a new menu – but not with new culinary offerings – NO! Instead, with increased prices, especially for the beers! €7 or €7.50 for a small beer??? Dear Boshut, it was lovely being with you for years, but we are no longer willing to pay these prices.

We had a delicious meal outside from the extensive charcuterie board. But the weather was also great.

They forgot to prepare our food. It can happen... No problem there. But food was quite bad. Soups were clearly jot fresh, if they were there was no real taste. About the main dish, ordered entrecote, without asking how I would like the meat, they brought it and could barely chew it. Hopefully they will do something attention because the location is great.

We had to wait until a table became free, even though there were plenty of empty ones. "We don't have enough staff, you're not allowed to sit there," was the answer. "Pull a table on this side where it is allowed," I asked. "No, that's not allowed either... just letting customers walk away."

Brasserie de Boshut is a great place to relax and replenish your energy after a walk or bike ride through Meinweg National Park, or simply enjoy a delicious snack or drink. It's easily accessible and has ample parking.

We had been looking forward to having a bite to eat here after a walk as well. It was busy on Sunday at 1:00 PM, but certainly not full. There was plenty of staff too. We asked several times if we could order and were told that someone would be with us shortly. But they weren't. At least 5 tables that were occupied after us were able to order. We were systematically ignored at the edge of the terrace. After half an hour, we just left without anything to drink or eat. Very disappointing... so, not worth repeating.

Nice place, large free parking lot. The steak sandwich was delicious, not dry, and the portions were good. If you're very hungry, it might be a bit small, but the price is reasonable. The crumble cake was also good. The staff was also friendly!

Pleasant atmosphere in a beautiful location

We visited for the first time just before Christmas and were absolutely delighted by the beautiful interior design and the thoughtfully coordinated decorations. The atmosphere was very cozy and inviting. The service was quick and friendly. The coffee, cappuccino, and even the soup were delicious. We felt completely at ease and will gladly return.

Beautiful location and it was lovely sitting close to the window. In general, the food was fine, my bread was a bit dry and the flammkuchen had a different base than normal but overall it was tasty. However, my friend had a nut allergy. We checked the allergen menu but there was no explanation of the symbols so we wanted to double check. We asked the waiter twice whether there was nuts in a dish and she said someone would come to us both times but they never came. Disappointing service.

Had a Bosburger. After reading what I read here, I expected it to be good, but unfortunately, it wasn't. The meat is of inferior quality. First, there were natchos, which were limp, and the guacamole was just from a jar. So yeah... The service is good.

On the way from Austria, we had a delicious meal here! We spontaneously pulled off the highway and found this gem! I'm on the low-FODMAP diet, and the kitchen has to make quite a few adjustments. After asking and explaining that we were just passing through, we were seated (despite it being a busy Sunday evening!), and in no time, we had a delicious meal! I had the fish plate (three types of fish), and when I asked if the sauce was okay, the waitress asked: it was coconut sauce—delicious! Thank you! Thank you for making it so easy, for making sure no question was too much trouble, and thank you for the delicious food and the beautiful location! Highly recommended!

The bosburger is absolutely amazing! Best burger i’ve ever had. The moulleux was on the colder side but still tasted very good and the icecream and whipped cream it came with was lovely. The service was a bit slower but it was a very busy day so that is very understandable. The personal was kind and passed by often enough and were lovely. The atmosphere was nice. We sat outside and the environment was just great to be at but inside also had a lovely vibe. Would very much recommend.

A delicious meal after a long walk. We had satay from the grill, which was delicious. My son had the "I'm not hungry" option, haha. We went home with a full stomach, back to Enschede.

The food was okay. But unfortunately, there was a mistake with the payment. They weren't able to refund the overcharged amount on site. We've been trying to get our money back ever since. So far, unfortunately, without success. Several guests in the queue behind us had the same problem. Please be more careful than I am about what they want to charge before paying. I'm curious to see if we'll get the money back. We've been waiting for it for about three weeks.

A gem. Main course: Viennese schnitzel. Everything perfectly balanced. Worth discovering, even with children. It offers everything. Certainly not a large menu. But there's something for everyone.

Addendum: 5 stars a year ago...what happened? We ate there again on the first day of our vacation (waited 20 minutes for service)...were discreetly ignored, we were hungry, so we stayed! The food was still delicious. We went again on the second-to-last day of our vacation (we stayed for 7 days). It's good, there's always something going on. Only 4 tables occupied inside, with what felt like 10 people serving outside, too! But we were there at 3:35 p.m., the kitchen is closed from 4 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Waiters walked past us at least 6 times, but were always ignored...! The waiter cleared the next table, and even though I said hello loudly...nothing...didn't even look in our direction. The youngest people serving there seemed to be no older than 12...summer job?? All good...but with these ridiculous prices. A 0.5-liter wheat beer...9 euros...I expect hospitality... We left at 4:05 p.m.! We had delicious pizza at Camping Huttopia. Sorry, we were very disappointed, but other restaurants are still happy to take our money...What a pity!

The location on the edge of the forest is fantastic. Lunch was reasonable. Nothing special. I had a sandwich at the forest hut, but the chicken was a bit dry. You have to go inside to pay. I made a mistake; I paid the wrong amount. They didn't want to refund the overpayment in cash. The required form wasn't available. This created a long line. The waiter tried to help by having the person waiting pay by card using a different device. But he hadn't noticed that the people who had sat at our table after us had also ordered. Because of this, I also overpaid. The only solution they offered was to send an email. They then credited the overpaid amount back to my account. Not customer-friendly. I pointed this out right away.

A spacious restaurant with a large terrace offering generous, comforting meals. Located right at the edge of the Meinweg nature reserve, this inviting and dog-friendly spot features a playground for children. The staff are warm and attentive, and parking is convenient and hassle-free.

We ate here twice when we were at the campsite nearby. We ate schnitzel, kibbeling, satay and tenderloin skewer. All great.

The price/performance ratio was okay. The burger had pickles on a skewer outside the bun. For just under €20, you'd have expected at least some caramelized onions and burger sauce. The fries were soggy and unsalted. The salt shaker on the table was damp and therefore useless. Paying the bill separately isn't possible because it would be "too much hassle" for the staff. The service was friendly and courteous, it was clean, and the ambiance was very nice.

Today we had lunch at the Boshut on the terrace. You can sit outside with a view of the playground. Ideal for with children. Nice that there is also a slide from the terrace towards the playground. We had a steak sandwich and Boshut sandwich and fries for the children with a snack. It was a particularly meager lunch. At least a quarter of the sandwich was a bite without meat. 1 piece of red onion exactly, and a proportionate amount of sauce. The other sandwich was exactly the same, minimally topped with dry chicken. Reasonably priced for what you get. It was fine for the children, nice that they could pick out a surprise there. Furthermore, it took a very long time before we were helped. Twice (!) we asked the same gentleman if we could order something, but he would send someone. But no one came. It also took a long time inside before you were helped. It's a really nice place to sit with children, but not recommended for lunch.
