A very unfriendly welcome, the manager just doesn't get it. Treating customers like that isn't a good way to be seen, and the other staff were also grumpy. Does this business have a future?

Cozy catering establishment with tasty dishes at reasonable prices

On August 17, 2025, I sat on the terrace for a few hours and enjoyed four Cokes Zero and a cheese platter. It was delicious. You had to keep asking for what you wanted. The weather was wonderful. The restrooms were clean. A lovely spot in a beautiful, peaceful rural setting. The 24-euro bill was a good deal.

Yesterday, we enjoyed lunch at The Lodge, a wonderful and very enjoyable experience. Besides the delicious and surprising food, we especially enjoyed the excellent service. We especially appreciated Wendy, a professional with 35 years of experience in the hospitality industry. She's incredibly friendly, service-oriented, and always smiling. She delivers service that's rarely experienced. So, it was a double treat, and the owner should be very generous with an employee like her. Hats off, and we thoroughly enjoyed this wonderful experience of food and service.

What a lovely welcome 😊, soft brown tones and wood 😊 and a cozy atmosphere. Last night we called to see if there was still room for two, and after discussing it with them, there was one. Given the time, we only had a main course, which we didn't mind. We received a friendly welcome and sat at a cozy table for two. We opted for the "Baked Belgian Beef Steak," delicious and cooked to a medium boil, with a potato-broccoli tart and a mixed vegetable and... samphire! ..that was a surprising combination, very tasty! We also had fries, which were nice and hot 😊. We also had a dessert, Dame Blanche, and, for me, the strawberry sorbet, with strawberries and a splash of Cava, also surprisingly poured at the table, delicious! We enjoyed it and will definitely be back. 👍🍀

Friendly staff, attentive and excellent at arranging a suitable, quiet table. We opted for the three-course lunch for €29.50. In a word, fantastic. We had a wonderful meal on the terrace!

Good food and a nice location. We just had to wait a long time for our order (12 o'clock and croquettes) - more than 25 minutes. They also ordered the wrong sauce. Nice place to walk the dogs and then eat here afterward.

Always good here! Whether you come by for lunch in the afternoon or for dinner in the evening - it is always great. The staff are friendly, like to have a chat and have a nice dose of humor. The service is excellent. The food is delicious and served luxuriously; you really feel like you are in a star restaurant. Highly recommended, both for small and large groups. Also nice: your dog is welcome, and on the terrace you will not be bothered by vermin or flies. The atmosphere, the location and the food make this a top restaurant!

Treated so rudely for the 3rd time in a row - 1st experience you want to discuss a wedding and everything is too much trouble - 2nd experience a family reunion was organised in consultation where it was really too difficult to make up the bill properly and the orders were closed without consultation - today we were shown a place but then sent away again, with an arrogant condescending attitude as if you were a non-paying guest. Really what a disgrace

First and most important the food is amazing! The place is in a calm area next to a beautiful forrest with lots of trees. Very cozy and well decorated restaurant, great staff and the kindest owner you can imagine. 10 out of 10.

A gem of a catering establishment. This is Pure Burgundian Hospitality. The location is very atmospheric. The menu is extensive and carefully composed. The drinks selection is also excellent. The staff is very attentive, helpful and extremely professional. Fair pricing. A visit to this much-praised location is therefore more than a real recommendation.

Despite an incomprehensible problem that arose after our early reservation, everything was resolved nicely and we can look back on a very nice day. Delicious food, friendly service at a beautiful location. The restaurant staff is attentive and goes the extra mile. The acoustic in the restaurant is good, even the restaurant was full with people, we could make conversation, without having to raise our voice. No pictures of the food this round, the presentation deserved it ! As this is far from my first review, I know the reviewer is asked for its recommendation, pick any dish, they all looked and tasted good, both starters and mains. Sorry we did not make it to desert but the locally branded coffee (van den Biggelaar) was great. Go for the few extra Euro's if you opt for the steak it's well worth it. The restaurant is wheelchair accessible and has plenty of parking. In today's day and age a couple of charging points for an electric car would not mismatch. This is more a matter of Roosendaal's municipality. All in all a pleasant experience and our next visit will be for lunch after a good walk in the Visdonk forest with plenty of woodpeckers.

Had a lovely lunch here yesterday in the sun. The food was delicious. However, there was someone in the service who was not very happy, she was a bit rude. The rest of the staff was very pleasant!

We were helped by a waiter who didn't know what was on the menu. We had to google it ourselves to find out. Seemed quite clumsy. For some of our table companions, the meat was not warm and the vegetables were not cooked. You don't have to go there for a vegetarian meal. There is a choice of one dish. Tablemates indicated that the dish was rather tasteless. This was with the exception of the goat cheese, because it of course already has quite a taste of its own. Tasteless food and cold and undercooked food was compensated with a free ice cream, which was nice

Attention customers! Recently had an unpleasant collision with Walter. I won't go into details here, but I advise everyone to be very careful. The gentleman immediately freaked out and started threatening. A wolf in sheep's clothing! People be warned!

Quite a large restaurant with the option to rent a separate room. It is a very cozy and friendly place to enjoy a delicious meal. The staff are friendly and hospitable. There is ample parking. Various cycling routes can also be chosen from this restaurant based on brochures placed at the entrance.

Great place for lunch or something to drink. On the edge of a walking area. Nicely decorated, tables not too close together. Food wise OK. Not too special, but just okay price/quality. Service is mediocre. Lots of young staff who often don't notice things or look at you strangely when you ask for alternatives.

I was treated horribly by two employees when I asked very kindly and openly if there was room for two, with 3 dogs. I understand that there may not be room inside, but there was plenty of room outside. I consciously choose Natuurpoorten to walk with the dogs, because you can normally also go there for a snack and a drink with four-legged friends. These people were so rude that we will skip the Visdonk nature gate from now on.

Op de terugweg van Zeeland naar " de provincie" nog even aangehaakt bij dit leuke restaurant. Beetje in de bossen van Roosendaal, erg leuk gelegen. Al vanaf 12 uur stampvol met een zeer gemêleerd gezelschap. lekker genoten van een uitsmijter carpaccio en een goed glas Chardonnay. Zonder opsmuk gewoon een leuk restaurant, goed eten, fijne mensen in de bediening en prijsvriendelijk en goed in verhouding t.o.v. de kwaliteit .

The ladies at the counter are very friendly. The boss, on the other hand, is super arrogant. Therefore 1 star for atmosphere. Let me outline the situation: We register (had a reservation) with the lady at the bar and she tells us 'just pick a table'. We do that and suddenly 'the boss' walks up and pushes us into a corner. I say that the lady let us choose a table, to which he replies: 'She can say that, I'm THE BOSS here'. I think that's arrogance at its finest. Later we did indeed get a table outside, but that was thanks to the lady who does the outside service and not to 'the boss'.

We were very welcome with a large group of hikers. We had dinner for "twelve hours" in a nice room. Very tasteful. The service was friendly and helpful. Top. Definitely recommended.

I really need to get this off my chest. After one of our many walks we ended up at The Lodge and wanted to have something to eat/drink there. At that moment we were stopped by Mr de Hoon who told us that we had better make reservations in the future. He had no room for us. Everything was reserved, he said, while the restaurant was almost empty. I'm wondering how I can make a reservation if I don't know what time I will arrive at a restaurant. From now on I will go to restaurants that do not require a reservation. The Lodge will no longer be bothered by us. Despite our dissatisfaction, a friendly greeting.

Groot maar toch intiem restaurant met eraan gekoppeld nog ns een megaterras. Eenvoudige kaart maar qua smaak dik in orde. Bediening vriendelijk, adequaat en snel. Misschien iets te snel zelfs. Oja. Lekkere wijntjes op de kaart. Kon ze helaas niet allemaal proeven.
