What a fantastic wedding we had with you! From start to finish, everything was taken care of down to the last detail, according to our wishes. Right from the first tour, we found the atmosphere and service incredibly pleasant. During the preparations, Arnela advised us very well regarding all the possibilities and helped us think about how best to realize our wishes. We had drawn up an initial quote together and were able to easily view and adjust it online in the run-up to the wedding. Even though Arnela herself was on vacation during our wedding, everything was handed over perfectly to her colleague Bart, so we didn't have to worry about a thing. It was truly a top-notch day that we will never forget. Thank you so much for the excellent care!

Had a lovely meal on a Sunday evening. What I really liked best about this restaurant was that the tables weren't crammed together, so it wasn't noisy. The music was also exactly how it should be in a restaurant: quiet and in the background. So we really enjoyed ourselves and had a nice chat. I will definitely be back!

We were able to celebrate our beautiful wedding here! The location, both indoors and outdoors, is stunning! The cozy atmosphere appealed to us immediately. We had a private lunch beforehand in the garden house, the ceremony in the conservatory, and the rest of the day in the hall! Amazing! The staff did an outstanding job! Arnela helped us fantastically with the preparations and gave us many tips, because we didn't know that much about weddings. Karin helped out really well during the setup! It was so nice that she was so helpful! A number of guests had significant allergies. The guests felt so seen. Normally they get forgotten, but this time they had Britt giving them her full attention! And our personal bartender, Bart!! Bart kept a close eye on us; we were never left empty-handed! The staff and kitchen responded quickly to changes! And the food was delicious! Everything went smoothly, and ALL the staff, from service to kitchen, worked hard to make that happen! Thank you so much for making our special day so special!

The food is of reasonable quality. The service is friendly and knowledgeable about the chef's specialty. A cheese platter for dessert is not recommended due to the lack of soft French cheeses. Otherwise, the location is okay.

We got married at Brasserie Meelfabriek de Zijlstroom on September 25, 2026. During the wedding preparations, we received very personal and tailored guidance; there were familiar faces who thought along with us. On the day itself, everything went flawlessly; it is clearly a well-oiled machine. Additionally, this location is fantastic because for your day program you can choose from the cozy, illuminated conservatory, the idyllic garden house, and—with luck and good weather (which we had) enjoy sitting outside and playing pétanque. There is also plenty of space inside for drinks or a party, and even the option to let people who want a bit more peace and quiet sit in the conservatory. As a bridal couple, we were able to enjoy ourselves thoroughly and would recommend this experience to everyone.

We had a delicious meal; the tuna starter was delicious. And the burger was mouthwatering too.

Brasserie Meelfabriek Zijlstroom is a fantastic wedding venue! Arnela assisted us very pleasantly from the very beginning, brainstormed with us, and presented us with all the options. Communication was smooth and pleasant. Even when it turned out to be the hottest day of the year, Brasserie Meelfabriek Zijlstroom was proactive in finding a solution. The food is delicious, the staff friendly, and the location beautiful! We would get married here again in a heartbeat!

We enjoyed lunch at this fantastic place today. My 84-year-old friend made the mistake of ordering a dish that was too spicy. After one bite, it became clear that she wouldn't be able to finish it. We ordered a new sandwich and that was delicious. When the bill arrived, the first sandwich wasn't on it. They felt sorry for us and it was perfectly fine this way. It certainly wasn't necessary and I would have just wanted to pay, but this really is next-level service! Truly fantastic. We enjoyed the place, the friendly service, and the food. We celebrated our wedding in the garden house at De Zijlstroom. From the very first contact, it was a pleasure to consult with her, we received quick responses, and Arnela helped us think of everything. The wedding was small (about 16 people including children), but we truly experienced it as an unforgettable day. Everything was neatly set up and taken care of; the garden house was decorated with lights and had a cozy atmosphere. We enjoyed a delicious lunch under the canopy, and the children could play on the grass. Many thanks for the successful day; we look back on it with great pleasure!

Yesterday, we did a cooking workshop with our company at Brasserie Meelfabriek Zijlstroom. We had a wonderful afternoon/evening. The location was beautiful, and the staff were friendly and helpful. First, we played pétanque for an hour, and then we did the regional workshop. It was fun to cook together, and we had a delicious meal afterwards. Everyone was very enthusiastic. Highly recommended for a group!

We got married in the garden house. It was truly a fantastic day. Everyone was incredibly friendly and the communication was great. Contact leading up to the wedding also went incredibly smoothly. We had chosen a shared dining arrangement and all the guests were very enthusiastic about the food! I am vegetarian myself, and this was also very well catered for! The atmosphere is incredibly nice, and even though there are guests in the restaurant when you rent the garden house, you don't really notice it at all! With the garden surrounding it, you are truly in your own bubble. We enjoyed it immensely. Thank you 🥰

The food is fine, and the price-quality ratio is good too. However, I wouldn't eat here if you have an allergy: I had asked if there were peanuts in the chocolates, and they said they would check. A short time later, the chocolates were brought out, and it turned out there were peanuts in them after all. As compensation, a bottle of water was removed from the bill. In short: avoid if you have an allergy.

A bit chaotic. Service could be better too. Drinks were spilled all over me. They just about managed an apology. Drinks were simply left under the table. After insisting, it was later partially cleaned up with a napkin. Plates and cups were not cleared from the table. No, a lot of complaints from everyone.

We enjoyed a lunch arrangement here in the Conservatory with a group of 25 people, before boarding the boat (Leidse Rederij) opposite the restaurant for a tour of Leiderdorp. An excellent location for such an outing.

We sat in the garden under the trees on a warm day. The two waitresses ran back and forth to provide everyone with everything; that was great, and the fact that it sometimes took a bit didn't bother me, as I was off work. However, I do want to give a tip about the wooden folding chairs... they are incredibly uncomfortable and really need replacing, or at least a cushion or something similar. That being said, the food was delicious.

We had a fun company outing at De Zijlstroom! We had a delicious meal and enjoyed a nice game of pétanque. Highly recommended!

It was a favorite of ours for years, but unfortunately not for the last few years. The food is too salty, unremarkable, and too expensive. The service is disappointing now too. You would think that if you leave half a plate of food, they would ask if something was wrong, but no questions are asked.

It was very messy; many tables were not cleared after the guests had left. The service at our table was poor; the question of whether we wanted another drink came much too late. We had ordered a bottle of white wine but received a red wine. It then took a very long time to correct this. We had already finished our main course and still hadn't received the wine. So we cancelled it. We went home very disappointed.

The salmon is fantastic, the atmosphere and service are excellent, the prices are also very reasonable.

Last night we dined at Brasserie Meelfabriek Zijlstroom. We were warmly welcomed and received excellent service. We let the Chef do his thing and allowed ourselves to be surprised. It was more than worth it. Highly recommended to pay a visit and enjoy a delicious meal.

We used the Garden House Room for an informal business meeting. Plenty of drinks available, and great service. On an exceptionally hot day, it also got very warm in the Garden House; a fan provided some cooling — perhaps ceiling fans could be installed in the future? Nice atmosphere, and afterwards we enjoyed some drinks on the lovely outdoor terrace. Beautiful location by the water just outside Leiden. Highly recommended!

Beautiful brasserie, located by the water which is very nice. It is housed in an old factory but is very beautiful, modern, and pleasant. The staff is very friendly. You are better off ordering smaller portions because you get a lot! Overall, a top restaurant

Unwelcoming service that would rather see you leave than order anything. Was supposed to be open until 11:00 PM, pétanque not available (turned out to be a strange question, explanation that otherwise the staff would have to work long hours), last round was supposed to be 10:00 PM, but after the first round at 9:15 PM no one was seen anymore, no last round was announced, and at 10:15 PM it turned out we could no longer order.

Wonderfully catered during our boat trip. It was great that we could moor at De Kaag and have the catering delivered right here on the boat. We were also able to swap out some drinks based on our taste. Thanks for being so helpful!

Restaurant with a terrace by the water, so nice in warm weather. The service could have been better. We had to ask up to three times to get the water we ordered. There was clearly far too little staff. The food was mediocre. Ordered four medium steaks and one lightly cooked. Surprise when they were served. A thin slice was supposed to represent the medium. Upon cutting it open, it turned out to be completely overcooked. Sent it back, and the waitress came to tell me that the chef had come to tell me that I was right. Even a small child could see that. The chef should have known. I received a new plate when my friends were almost finished eating, with much less garnish. It really didn't taste good like that. I wolfed it down quickly because we still had to go elsewhere. You would think they would come and apologize, but that didn't happen. By then the fries were cold, but I didn't get a new hot portion. I won't be coming here again.

The pleasant atmosphere is ruined by the constant puffing of smokers on the terrace. There is no possibility to sit outside smoke-free.

Organized a baby shower here for my best friend. Everything was arranged really well. Communication was quick and smooth. The location was great; we sat in the conservatory, which was perfect for it. The food was delicious and varied.

Excellent parking facilities with plenty of space. The restaurant and grounds have a well-maintained appearance. There is a good selection of dishes and drinks, the staff is friendly and polite, and dishes were brought to the table in a coordinated manner whenever possible; a nice extra that stood out, so kudos to the service. The various daily specials were neatly recited from memory, very nice. Requests for a different sauce than the standard one were taken into account and executed properly. A request to have plain tap water alongside our regular drinks instead of Spa or something similar was properly honored, very nice. Incidentally, no extra costs were charged for this. We would not have minded paying, for example, 1 euro per person for plain tap water for the evening to cover some of the costs for the glasses and service; tap water does not have to be 100% free as far as we are concerned, but we certainly appreciate the option to get it. The restaurant was neat and well-maintained; one detail that stood out is that the wall covering in the conservatory is coming loose in a few places. Outside, there is plenty of opportunity to sit on the terrace in good weather, with the necessary parasols. There is a pétanque area, strategically placed behind a small hedge so as not to disturb dining guests too much. Points for constructive criticism: the fries were quite salty. That is unnecessary and, moreover, unhealthy; furthermore, salt is available on the tables should anyone wish for more. Hummus and pesto are served with the bread; it would have been nice if, for example, herb butter or aioli had been included, or if a choice could have been ordered separately. The sirloin steak that 4 people in our party had as a main course was not cooked 'medium' for everyone. The thickness of the meat also varied, meaning the cooking time should have been different – ​​this seemed insufficiently recognized. The dessert was tasty; however, we missed a more 'regular' or less exclusive option, causing part of our party to choose not to have dessert. In our opinion, the options available had a poor price-quality ratio; the prices should have been lower.

The garden house was reserved for us for the entire day, a place where you can hold meetings or organize a lecture for up to 35 people. An atmospheric venue. I sat on the terrace here for a bit in between boating. I ordered a beer, but unfortunately, the bottle was past its expiration date. I only noticed this after I had finished the beer. I mentioned it to the employee when paying, but all I got was a ‘sorry’. This is not the service you should expect from a hospitality establishment.

Had a delicious meal at De Meelfabriek tonight via Social Deal. I only have a photo of my delicious starter when I had already finished half of it. The main courses and desserts were also delicious and looked very appetizing. Unfortunately, no photos, but definitely worth a good review!

We asked for the parasol to be opened as it was very hot but nobody came (customers are not allowed do it themselves) as they were “too busy” so had to finish food extremely fast as we couldn’t sit any longer in the heat. Asked for ice cubes and they were thrown onto the table. Some of the staff are rude. The food was average. Wouldn’t return.

Yesterday, we had lunch in the garden house with 21 people. We all enjoyed ourselves. The garden house is very nice, big enough for our group. There is a cozy atmosphere and it was nice and warm because Nina, our lovely support, had already turned on the heat lamps. Small lights completed the atmosphere. The decor is cozy and informal. The lunch was served buffet style and was delicious. The staff was very friendly and everything was executed well, quickly, and correctly. So, compliments to Nina and her colleagues. Definitely worth repeating.

Unfortunately, we did not have a pleasant experience at De Zijlstroom. Upon arrival, we had to wait quite a long time before we were shown to our table. After that, it took a long time again before someone came to take our drink order. We had ordered two regular Heinekens, but were eventually served two blond beers. When the food was finally brought, it turned out the dips for the bread had been forgotten. That gave a messy impression. The hygiene also left something to be desired. The trash cans in the restrooms were full, there was paper lying next to the bins, and the toilets were not clean. All in all, we found the service slow and the upkeep of the restaurant inadequate, especially considering the price you pay.

I found the dishes mediocre. From the outside, it looks beautiful. They are indeed truly contemporary dishes. Unfortunately, the taste was disappointing. The avocado smash was watery and cold. Tip: order and taste the dishes yourself regularly. I found the prices too high.

Had a nice Easter brunch on Easter Sunday. Very friendly and sweet staff. Prices were a bit on the high side; I spent €180 for 3 adults and 2 children. I often don't even spend that much for dinner at a restaurant. €7.50 for a bottle of water is really on the high side.

We celebrated our 40th anniversary at De Zijlstroom last weekend. Right from the first contact with Arnela (from the organization), we had a good feeling. She thought along with us and came up with all kinds of ideas on how to celebrate a party. We had dinner beforehand with a limited group that we had communicated in advance. As a result, we all received the starter at the same time, followed by the main course and dessert. The food was all prepared perfectly. 👍. After dinner, the other guests joined us, after which the party could begin. We were provided with delicious snacks and drinks all evening. What stood out was that the waitresses did their job with great pleasure and enthusiasm. We had a fantastic evening. If you want to throw a party, De Zijlstroom is highly recommended!!!!

Nice restaurant. Be sure to walk past the bar. There is a lovely, bright conservatory and a terrace as well. We sat in the slightly darker part. The music was a bit loud, but it was fine later on. Friendly service. Tasty lunch from Social Deal. The soup wasn't very special, but okay. Bread with vitello tonnato and bread with salmon were very tasty and flavorful!

There were five of us dining at this restaurant, and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The food was delicious, and the service was amazing. One of us has celiac disease, so gluten-free food is very important. They paid a lot of attention to this, and it was completely gluten-free. Both the vegetarian options and the meat and fish dishes were delicious. All in all, highly recommended!
