Brasserie Oranje Boven in Wijk 11 Binnenstad

For a low-budget student like me, the mix of price and location was perfect. Staff was friendly and the food was great.

I arranged to meet a friend for a drink in town. I parked my bike and grabbed the nearest terrace to be close to it. I called my friend to tell her where I was. I hadn't even been sitting there a minute when the waiter (presumably the owner of Oranje Boven) came at breakneck speed to ask what I wanted to order. I told him I was waiting for my friend, who would arrive in a few minutes. I would order then. He wasn't satisfied. He said, "Order now or you can leave." I said, "Why do I have to leave? I haven't done anything wrong. I'll definitely order something when my friend gets here." He was very annoyed. I had to leave the terrace immediately. Meanwhile, he told me he knew my type, that he would sit down but wouldn't order anything. Besides being foreign, I've lived and worked in the Netherlands for 35 years. I do have an accent, but that doesn't give him the right to treat me like that. I got up while hyperventilating and forgot my bike key on the table. I walked two meters away and noticed I'd left my bike key on the table. I looked around; the key was gone, and the same employee was standing at the table. I asked him where my bike key was. He denied having it. I was certain he'd taken it. I repeatedly asked him to give me my bike key back. He kept denying it. I called 112, the police dispatch center, even though I was so upset. My girlfriend had arrived by then. I was crying about the situation and the injustice I'd been subjected to. Finally, the woman the employee had been talking to constantly came over and gave me the bike key. I wouldn't have gotten my key back if I hadn't called 112. I share the above because I was treated exceptionally rudely by this man for no reason, perhaps solely because I'm a foreigner.

Ero con mio marito e mia figlia di 3 anni in piazza, stavamo scegliendo il posto per cena quando mia figlia inizia a dire che le scappa la pipì, avevo adocchiato questo posto per una potenziale cena, allora entro per chiedere se potevo usare il bagno. Dentro non c’era nessuno, locale deserto, proprietario era seduto fuori a bere con degli amici credo. Chiedo se posso usare il bagno per la bambina e lui si mette a ridere e mi chiede un euro, io sinceramente pensavo scherzasse, dico ok e mio marito porta mia figlia in bagno mentre io aspetto fuori e capisco che non scherzava affatto. Gli do questo euro e mentre sono fuori inizia a parlarmi in olandese e chiaramente iniziano a prenderci in giro con gli amici seduti fuori nelle loro lingua. Finora esperienza con olandesi sempre positiva questo personaggio è proprio una vergogna per i suoi connazionali. Ovviamente siamo andati via senza fermarci a cena.

Very rude owner which was a unpleasant experience on an otherwise great day in Delft. Quite why this man chooses to behave this way - I will never understand.

Stay away, tourist trap!!! Tried to charge us €2.50 for an extra fork!! NEVER EVER HAS THIS HAPPENED!! Ridiculous! STAY AWAY!!

Stay away!! Not a friendly or nice place. So sad that the owner takes advantage of people! Asked for an extra fork and was told it would be an extra €2.50!! Because he would have to WASH IT!! Mind you we ordered two cocktails and a full meal. REALLY! Never will we go back, there are so many other choices in the square. Fish & chips were greasy and full of bones. Do your self a favor and STAY AWAY!!

Central and initially unpreposessing cafe with indoor and outdoor seating. All food prepared fresh and accompanied by an interesting side salad. Specialises in fish but also does meat dishes. Good value, we went back another evening.

We visited the wonderfull City of Delft and went to the Marketplace. Because we were hungry we look for Restaurants and found this Brasserie nearby the Cathedral. Here you get very good Fish and Chips. Prices are acceptable and the meals are delicious.

Casual little spot in the heart of town. Its a one man show with delicious Kibbeling. Fresh and made to order.

Wel iets meer dan "fish and chips"; bestel aan het begin van de avond gewoon een portie van de prima kibbeling met lekkere frietjes en een goed glas witte wijn erbij en het is heerlijk vertoeven op een schitterend plekje met uitstekende en gastvrije bediening. Geen haastige druk zoals bij de grote horeca concerns; je kunt er snel wat eten maar ook rustig 1.5 uur zitten genieten. Mooie tent en voortreffelijke prijs/kwaliteit.

Bij Oranje boven is het heerlijk vertoeven. Voor een drankje en een lekkere maaltijd zit je hier heel goed. Wij komen hier zeker terug.

The owner works his socks off, taking orders in a variety of languages, frying up food (kibbeling, mussels, etc), pouring drinks, serving the tables seated out front in the market square next to the huge New Church and taking payment. Even though it was busy, he somehow managed it all. All very fresh and tasty for a most reasonable price, especially given the location.

Brasserie avec terrasse dans la Grand Place (Markt), surtout pour des petits plats hollandais à base de poisson et fruit de mer (comme le 'kibbeling"), et plus. Rien de luxe, mais bon rapport qualité-prix.

Fish and ships pour 12 euros. Le poisson est bien cuit, c'est un filet qui reste tendre, c'est ce qu'on attend de ce plat. Accompagné de frites et d'une petite salade de crudités. Nous sommes venus à midi, il n'y avait personne, le service a été rapide.

Wir haben dort Fish & Chips gegessen. Es war sehr lecker aber für den Preis sehr kleine Portionen. Das geht besser.

Alles is nogal cheap voor wat je betaald.. €3, - voor een glaasje fris is wel erg veel, vooral als niet alles koud staat, of je een glas zonder prik krijgt. Niet echt lekker schoon, goedkope plastic tafels, 1 parasol (dus iedereen in volle zon) Lekkerbek was lekker. De frietjes erg jammer. Had wel kwaliteit Vlaamse friet ofzo verwacht voor die prijs. Ook de 'salade' mag wat beter dan 2 schijfjes tomaat en een schijfje komkommer. Misschien een idee als je €3,- voor een glas fris rekend, een koeling voor te stoppen met 1 persoons flesjes (zoals bij andere horeca locaties) OF gewoon 1 glas fris bij een schotel geven. Stond ook nergens aangegeven wat drinken zou kosten, dus dan is het extra schrikken.

Heerlijke mosselen zonder garnituur besteld dikke pluim voor het bierbeslag. Partner had een lekkerbek ook heerlijk. Jammer, we zaten buiten en hoorden de eigenaar binnen zeggen dat we maar één cola bestelden voor ons tweeën. Zeker gezien de rekening een beetje sneu. Op de boulevard van Scheveningen bij Topper Simonis🤔 betaal je de helft.

I took fish and chips 12€. The fish was fresh and very good! The fried chips were good and crunchy. 12€? Ehm could be a bit expensive but the food it's very good. Ps. 0.5 ml of water 2,50€

Beste kibbeling die ik in tijden gegeten heb!

Wij komen al jaren bij Ron op de markt . We eten hier altijd heerlijk en het is een fijne plek om te vertoeven! Vooral de kibbeling en vis specialiteiten vinden wij heerlijk. We hebben ook onze verjaardagen vaak gevierd wat altijd een erg groot succes was ! groetjes Ad en Els

Vandaag weer eens iets heel anders gegeten bij Ron, namelijk overheerlijke huisgemaakte spaghetti bolognese! . Zie foto. Ook een aanrader.

Ik heb al gereserveerd nu het weer mag..... kunnen niet wachten op de heerlijke satéschotel...

Small, quiet, friendly. A good place to enjoy good food with friends.

We had really good Kibbeling here. This was some of the best fish and chips we've ever had. Food was delicious and portions were plentiful for the price. The outdoor sitting area has a great view of the church, square, and town hall. Service is great and the staff is friendly. Definitely recommend this place!

A restaurant right at the Delft Market Square, next to the Nieuwe Kerk. Great fish and chips and fast service even though the entire joint was being handled by just one man! Free Wi-Fi and clean restrooms. Lots of chairs to sit out and eat as well.

A good fish and chips, and delicious schnitzel. Overall a good place to have hearty food. Just a little bit pricy for its serivce though.
