Deviating Service Recently, we visited our much-loved Royal Family in Delft early on a Saturday morning. We go there often, and the service is always good, friendly, etc. But on this Saturday morning at 10:30 AM, it was strange. We saw many tourists sitting on the terrace enjoying coffee and apple pie. Nieuwmand had ordered breakfast, which immediately caught my eye, and I thought, "Is this strange?" We enthusiastically asked for the menu to order a delicious breakfast. The waitress suddenly said, "Let me check with the kitchen if that's possible." We thought, "How strange, it's 10:30 AM, and she has to ask if that's already possible?" The waitress returned and told us that it had gotten very late the night before and that they were cleaning the kitchen. We thought, "In the 15 years we've been going there, we've never heard this before, 'Clean the kitchen.'" This is always done at the end of the day. And not in the mornings when people are eagerly coming for breakfast. We left and went somewhere else. What a disappointment and a missed opportunity for them. Other than that, a great place.

Well I am giving them 3 stars because they served Steak without sauce and the price of the fries was surprising to say the least. The atmosphere and service was awesome though.

The service itself was friendly, but the process was unfortunately very disappointing. We sat down inside, and only after quite some time were we informed that we had to sit outside because the indoor seating was closed. What was particularly annoying was that several staff members had walked past us without saying a word. Clear signage or a brief announcement upon entering would have been very helpful to avoid such misunderstandings.

Yesterday, we dined at this restaurant for two. The food was delicious (we had the seasonal three-course menu twice) and the service was excellent! We had to wait a little longer for our food, but the waiter had already offered us one of our drinks for free. The atmosphere was also great, and nothing was too much trouble for the waiters.

We arrived half an hour early, which was no problem. We were able to sit down with a drink and then, when our table was free, they duly collected us. The staff are all super friendly; nothing is too much trouble, and you feel truly welcome. Even though it's a large restaurant and it was quite busy, they really look after you. Unlike most other restaurants, where you have to wave and struggle to get someone to come to your table, someone always came by to check on us. Despite the crowds, someone kept checking in to see if everything was okay, bringing drinks, etc. You can tell the staff are well-coordinated. The wait time for food was also normal, not excessively long. The food was also very tasty, and the specialty coffee afterward is highly recommended. It's a shame it's an hour's drive from where we live, otherwise we would have eaten here more often. But if we're ever near Delft again, we know where we'll be eating!

Terrible experience. slow service and they do not listen to the customer at all. We ordered two steaks and one burger. We were allowed to choose the doneness of the steaks, but not the doneness of the burger, which made no sense. I politely asked why this was not possible, especially since choosing the doneness of the steak was allowed. First, the waiter said it was because the restaurant was busy. Wanting a proper explanation, I calmly spoke to the manager. Her answer was simply: “Because this is how we believe it’s best to serve it.” I then asked: “But what if the customer doesn’t like it this way? It doesn’t matter? Her response was: “Yes, exactly. We still serve it this way anyway.” Unacceptable attitude. The burger was SUPER dry…. And also the stakes! Extremely dry! I have worked in restaurants in the Netherlands myself and understand that kitchens have standards, but you never force something on a customer just because the kitchen decides so, especially when the customer clearly says they don’t like it. Very poor service. I will never come back.

We were very warmly welcomed. We had a very good meal. Excellent value for money. Quiet location.

You can relax and enjoy a relaxing time in Delft city center, and savor their specialty hot chocolate. The coffee is also excellent.

What a location! On Delft's beautiful, large market square! And right on Christmas! Delicious food, lovely service. Only the host was a bit stern and curt upon arrival. But everyone else made up for it.

Friendly staff and the food is excellent. It's just a shame that both the main course and the dessert I wanted to order (stew and cheesecake) were out of stock. You could also mention that when you hand over the menu, and that would save you a lot of hassle. 27-11: Thanks for the feedback. Otherwise, it was a very pleasant experience. I don't have any other suggestions for improvement.

Terrible experience. When you are spending over 100 euros, you still have to ask 3 times for ketchup, 4 times for water. No extra plate for the children. The burger was well below the expected standard for the price. My wife left most of hers uneaten. We asked for the burger ingredients on the side, they said yes and didn't do so. They sarcastically asked if we wanted to buy a salad. We asked for a high chair - they didn't bring one. They even spilled an elderly relative's drink, and then blamed her. "It was the worst experience I've had in a restaurant ever." Do not take any guests with any special requirements, or old people, or children.

The food and atmosphere were delicious and good. The location is very beautiful with a large conservatory and outdoor terrace. It's a shame, though, that you get the feeling you're being rushed out. Otherwise, it's perfectly fine.

We visited Het Koning's Huys and were very disappointed with the service. We arrived, ordered cocktails, and had to wait over 30 minutes, while people who came after us were helped much sooner. The staff wasn't very friendly and seemed like they simply didn't care. The atmosphere is nice, but the poor service ruined the whole experience. Not recommended, especially if you value respectful treatment and a reasonable wait time.

We waited over 30 minutes for two cocktails. The waiters said they'd make them right away, but the end result? Disappointed.

I made a reservation for four people. We had a great time, and the service was excellent.

We had a delicious meal at Het Koningshuys. Good service, friendly staff, and everything was arranged quickly – definitely worth repeating. However, the atmosphere was seriously spoiled by the owner, who was yelling at his staff. Very unprofessional. We almost wanted to say something about how he treats the young people who work there. It's not normal to swear in a workplace.

A few days ago I was in this lovely, super beautiful little town with my daughter and granddaughter and were looking forward to a quick break in this restaurant. We ordered coffee and a snack. My granddaughter still had something to drink in her hand from strolling around town. We were then told that she wasn't allowed to sit there because the drinks were from another shop and that she should wait outside for us. My granddaughter is 10 years old!!! Waiting outside the restaurant, what's the point?? Because she has a drink in her hand. I've never heard of such a thing and I've traveled a lot, all over the world. First of all, we ordered food and drinks for around €50.00. So we only paid for the coffee and canceled the food and left after an argument about whether we should now also pay for the food we had ordered, which we hadn't even had yet. Who on earth leaves their child standing in front of a restaurant and just goes and eat, is that even possible? Thank you! It really took away our appetites. But we didn't let you spoil our day. We found a really nice restaurant...with friendly staff.

Although this restaurant has been all my wanna go list for a very long time and I had the opportunity to go last week but tbh it wasnt as good as I thought. We ordered two burgers and I would say it doesn’t differ much from other burger shops and I wouldn’t consider it as a good burger. The bun is not crunch nor soft , and the meat was not juicy. For me,. Is the OK level of a burger but not stunning, not good, but prices are extra than the other burger shops. for the service. It was OK in general although the waitress tried to sell us about a special drink although we said it’s just good. They tried to sell it out every customer so generally it’s fine but it’s still a little bit bothered.

Great place to go dine without spending a fortune or having to make a reservation. Some good original dutch and flemmish dishes and great chips. Very good service and kid friendly although we did sit outside.

Lovely terrace on the large square in the heart of Delft near the old church. Great atmosphere, cozy atmosphere, and fast and friendly service. Highly recommended!

Very nice employees, great food quality and amazing atmosphere <3

The food arrived very late and, unfortunately, not according to the order. The waiters have too many tables in their area, so they don't pay attention to whether the food arrives from the kitchen on time. The king burger with Wagyu ground beef was also, unfortunately, overcooked. Overall, the prices are too high for the food and its quality.

So I was here recently, and it was already excellent. Therefore, I can't at all agree with the high rating this restaurant has. First of all, not a single order was placed correctly. It was wrong the first time with the first round of drinks. Then, we didn't receive the appetizer until after the main course, instead of, as the name suggests, as a starter. The order for the main course wasn't placed correctly either, and I didn't receive the correct dish. The main course itself, their king's burger, which they advertise as "the dish" of the King's House, made with special beef, was bone dry and barely chewable. To top it all off, there were also things on the bill we hadn't ordered, so we were initially overcharged. I won't be coming back. But if you're feeling like a simple meal with your head full of nonsense, I definitely recommend this restaurant.

We had dinner at Het Konings Huys last Saturday. The chef's leek soup was really delicious. The satay was unfortunately very salty, and we found the rest of the dishes rather unremarkable. What struck us most was the friendly and attentive service. There was also a nice atmosphere on the terrace. All in all, a great experience. The menu itself offers some surprising options, but in reality, it all felt a bit standard.

Cozy place in the middle of the market!!

When we asked if we could serve a half-course meal due to limited food, we were met with a negative and dismissive response. When we were preparing to leave, we were allowed to, but at the full price.

We stopped by for a beer and snacks. I tried two different interesting beers. The parm Fries were very tasty. Great spot to hang and visit. They have couches as well as tables. Extremely comfortable on the town square.

Had a lovely meal on the terrace. Especially sharing the starters and desserts together is very nice to do.

This is was BAD! To truly understand the disappointment that was this restaurant, I need to start at the beginning. To start, we waited 30+ minutes just to get a table, then another 40 to get served. Not only that, but we got no service after the first round of drinks… nothing, nada, zilch. And don’t even get me started on the food. Sad, like it was dropped as a child. We got 2 stakes, gyoza, and some clams. The stakes was overcooked and had the same seasoning as an old white man would use… none. The gyoza, oh boy. Sad, damp and just not good. Don’t forget concerningly lukewarm, like your exes text messages. I think the chef forgot what warm food is. The only warm things were the clams, but only as warm as a dead beet father’s love. And the steak oh boy, it was so lean I think my skinny friend had more fat on her. Stiffer and dryer than a new shoe box. You think you can chew this stake think again, it took me a full 30 seconds too chew one piece. And the sides, if your looking for a half overcooked, half undercooked, mushy piece of asparagus, and carrots that are sadder than you’re depressed nephew, this is the place for you. And you think they could at least season and wash these vegetables nah why should they. It’s like the chef is allergic to salt and pepper, or any other seasonings for that matter. God, it’s like my stepmother and accountability. The service was just as bad as a pillow with no cold side. It was slow, didn’t care, and often avoided things. So basically this restaurant is as bad as a dead beat dad. 1/10

A very nice place in the central square

After a day of shopping and walking around the market, it was time for a drink. Because the Konings Huys is located on a square where you can see all sorts of things, we decided to sit here. Yesterday we had cocktails in a cocktail bar and that was very disappointing. Apparently they also have cocktails here for a better price, more taste and also cheaper, so you are 10x better off going here for cocktails, even though it is not a cocktail bar. While enjoying cocktails, we played a card game, which we had brought with us. The staff is friendly and comes by often enough to ask if everything is still to your liking. In short, a great place for a drink at the end of the afternoon. Legend: 1) Terrible! I advise against it, I will never come back! 2) Too bad, below my expectations, I will not come again. 3) Ok, nothing wrong with it, but not special, nice for once. 4) Fine, worth coming back. 5) Excellent! I recommend it, I will definitely come back! Response to owner: It is difficult to say what you can still do to earn the last star. Many restaurants that are just fine get 4 stars from me. If you get 5 stars, there really has to be something special. This can be different things: * Extremely nice staff. Often you also get further in conversation than just the standard sentences such as: did it taste good etc. * Special or very tasty food. It can be something that is not available anywhere else, such as a strawberry pizza. But the food can also just be very tasty, tasteful and beautifully presented. Now I have not eaten anything at your place so I cannot say anything about that. * Super cozy or special decor. * Something else special. For example, that it is very cheap or has fast service so that you like to come there often. Of course it can also be a combination of the above. I have written over 200 reviews and only about 15 or 20 have received 5 stars. So you don't just get 5 stars from me. In my opinion, you are really among the top 10% of restaurants.

I visited this restaurant for dinner with four Chinese guests. One of them took a photo of the table with our waiter, Jelmer, in the frame. The waiter reacted in an extremely rude manner, lecturing the lady not once, but three times, and even threatened to stop serving us. While it’s understandable to have rules around photography, the way it was handled felt unnecessarily aggressive. To make matters worse, he refused to let us order a dessert to share among four people, insisting that every person at the table had to order individually—even though we were five in total. Overall, the service was unwelcoming and unprofessional. That said, the food and the location were good.

We are a group of friends who have been delighting this establishment with our visit every Thursday for almost 15 years. And our general conclusion is simply that we have been helped by nice and sweet staff over the years!! It is simply a world business!!

A very popular restaurant on the market square. A large outdoor seating area as well as inside tables. This is our go to lunch venue when in Delft. We often say that we should try somewhere else, but always go back here. The service, to take your order and make your payment can be a little sluggish, but once ordered your food and drink arrives promptly. Probably no different from any very busy restaurant. The menu has a good variety of options and would suit most tastes. The food is excellent and there is plenty of it. There is a good range of drinks to choose from including beers , wines, spirits, coffees and soft drinks. This restaurant is highly recommended.

The drinks are very good but a bit expensive. However, the prices are normal for the country, and the location is right on the large market square.

On the recommendation of our group guide, we chose this place just to try the apple tart. We had a short time. We received fast and friendly service. It was a wonderful tart that was very fresh and delicious. It also got full marks from the ladies.

Nice restaurant located at Grote Markt in the middle of Delft. Recommend the cheesecake dessert and dirty chai latte tea. It was quite busy I'd recommend a reservation. The food overall was quite good, the steak was a little too red for me but other than that I was very happy. The staff was friendly and had a good sense of humor too.

We were hopeful that this restaurant would meet our goal of finding a “grilled chicken” sandwich as their menu suggests. A member of our group cant eat many Dutch foods. We were very disappointed to learn that this item was more of a chicken salad and would not work for the member of our group. There were few viable alternatives. Update your menu to give a more accurate description. The setting is nice.

On Easter Monday we had a delicious lunch here, nice tent, fast and friendly staff. You can sit comfortably under the patio heaters, I even took off my coat. I had a Delft garden, two slices of brown bread with hummus and grilled vegetables. Was delicious! My wife had the Carpaccio sandwich, which was fine but not very rich, which could have been better for that price. But highly recommended to go!

Asked for tap water she said you only get tap water if you order a drink. We all ordered coffee or beer and she brings us all a shot glass of water. When I asked for more water she said I have to order another drink. Told me they are a tourist place and if they don’t do that they will “lose the business”. After I paid 21 euro for a schnitzel and 4 for a coffee you can’t turn on the sink for a few seconds for me? Lose the business? What a joke. Schnitzel was good but talking to that lady for more than 5 seconds will surely leave a sour taste in your mouth.

Delft is close by and a beautiful town for walking and enjoying everything it has to offer. The market stalls on Saturdays always have something fun. We decided to end the day with dinner at Het Konings Huys, a restaurant in the middle of the square. We were kindly helped. The atmosphere is relaxed and there is plenty to see. I can say we did not regret our choices, the spare ribs and the 500 gram T-bone steak. The spare ribs were delicious and the T-bone tender to the last bite. The fries were also fried in their skins and tasted delicious. In short, definitely worth repeating.

Too bad we are over 50, after waiting patiently for more than 45 minutes, they did not come to our table on Sunday morning at 11.45. Young girls sit next to us and are helped immediately. Enjoy the first rays of sunshine on the terrace in March. It was very pleasant, fast service and tasty dishes. It was extremely busy, because it is possibly the best terrace on the market.

I had a fantastic dining experience at Get Koenig’s Hus and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for great food in a cozy setting. The restaurant has a warm and inviting atmosphere, with friendly staff who make you feel welcome from the moment you arrive. A nice add on are the pictures of the royal family on the wall. One dish that truly stood out was the Teriyaki Salmon—absolutely delicious! The salmon was perfectly cooked, tender, and flavorful, with a beautifully balanced teriyaki glaze that was both sweet and savory. If you’re visiting, this is definitely a must-try! The rest of the menu also offers a great selection of well-prepared dishes, and the overall quality of the food is excellent. Fantastic spot. But what prizes. We were shocked by the €5.20 for a latte machiatto. Next time, get takeaway coffee elsewhere and sit on a bench in the sun.

Very nice place to have a drink (and lunch) in Delft. Smoothies and some other products have a somewhat high price, but of course you pay partly for the location. Despite the crowds, staff was quick to take orders.

The place is cozy and after a walk through Delft it is a nice place to sit and relax. We were well attended by the waiter making a very enjoyable afternoon.

I come here to eat on a regular basis. Always good and nice atmosphere! Quite an extensive menu too, so plenty of options. My favorite remains the king's burger :)
