A unique and peaceful, hidden spot with a beautiful view of the harbor. A unique and refined menu and dishes, especially the fish dishes, have already been back twice and haven't been bored yet! The wines are delicious, though a bit pricey. Indoor seating: - The conservatory is the best spot! Tip: please indicate this when booking; Outdoor seating: - The terrace on the jetty is lovely, but dogs are not allowed there (nor are wheelchairs); - The somewhat bare courtyard terrace really deserves an upgrade! The garden furniture is ugly, and there are some half-dead plants. This detracts from the ambiance of the terrace and is such a waste of this beautiful place. (While the location of this terrace has the potential to become the most beautiful terrace in Utrecht and the surrounding area with a bit of green thumb and new furniture!) - Upstairs in the restaurant is a cozy upstairs area perfect for meetings or dinners with a group of 10-20 people. A truly wonderful, private space for a celebration!

Excellent. Wonderful, great atmosphere, delicious food, excellent service. Easily accessible by foot, bike, boat, car, and swimming (done it once, okay, previous owner, but still possible). Charming romantic tables, harbor, boats... Wonderful... kids, adults, flexible with requests. Love it!

A terrible place... Brasserie Oud Zuilen is the first place in the Netherlands to turn away people wearing headscarves. There's a headscarf ban here! My mother wanted to have a drink here with her students, but she couldn't get past the entrance, citing it was too busy, even though there were only a few people there. Five minutes later, I called to make a reservation for four people, but they didn't make a fuss. To call someone a racist, you need a good reason because it's a bad thing... but these are just a bunch of racists! It's disgusting that people wearing headscarves aren't allowed in here.

Deze plek bij toeval met de motorfiets ontdekt. Manager gaf ons direct warm onthaal en regelde tafel zonder dat we gereserveerd hadden. Eten was heerlijk wijnkeuze was goed. Zeker voor herhaling vatbaar donderdag weer gereserveerd.

Today we visited a Utrecht gem along the Vecht River. We'd been meaning to go for a while, and today the weather was perfect for a lovely lunch on the jetty among the boats. We ordered a four-course menu with a wide selection and were pleasantly surprised by the attention to detail and the taste experience. We had a truly delicious meal in a setting you rarely experience. Highly recommended if you want to unwind and enjoy a leisurely, unashamed meal to recover from the hustle and bustle of many city centers!

Vooraf tafel in de serre gereserveerd en bevestigd gekregen. Bij aankomst (op tijd) bleek tafel al vergeven. Geen excuus en arrogante manger. Toonde geen enjel begrip. Tevens zat er boven een groep welke de nodige (geluids) overlast veroorzaakte. Slechte ervaring en niet voor herhaling vatbaar!

Nice setting and delicious food. Compliments to the chef here. Unfortunately it took more than an hour before we finally got something to eat. After half an hour we only got a menu and a drink. Hopefully the service is not structurally so lax.

What a great location, lovely on the water with a nice big terrace outside. The food was tasty but the portions were very moderate. I am not a big eater but this salad was more of a starter than a lunch. I had a salmon salad, really small portion. The egg and the shrimps were forgotten and the salmon was a small thin slice. Such a shame. The other salads were also very tasty but unfortunately also small. The service is top and the choice on the menu too. Maybe try something else on the menu again.

Yesterday at 20:50 arrived there to be told that the kitchen closes at 21:00.. the table in front of us gets a full table with food at 21:30 while we were really told that the kitchen is closed for us.. and then not to mention the slow staff who look at you strangely when you ask for a lemon in your bacardi cola. In short, a nice location with a bad policy and lousy service

Cozy restaurant. Very friendly service. And the food tastes good. We had a very nice evening!

Sent away like a small child because we were not allowed to sit on the jetty with a stroller and a dog. Deliberately searched the website to see if there were any restrictions regarding a dog but could not find anything. Drove more than 100 km to have lunch here, alternative was to sit on the terrace which looked messy and uninviting, tables uncovered. Eaten here a few times but after this experience it was the last time.

Great, quiet and the food was delicious.

Last weekend we had dinner at Brasserie Oud Zuilen, we haven't eaten so well in a long time. The location outside was really great, very cozy. It was quite busy because of Mother's Day so we had to wait a bit longer, but the food was worth it. I can definitely recommend the steak tartare and confid de canard!

Lovely place on the water, enjoyed a 3 course dinner. The main course could have used a few more vegetables on the plate. Very friendly and neat service.

Ate oysters, one with grit. No apologies from the kitchen at all. No appetizers, but dishes and wine are well priced. So you pay for the view. Not a second time for me.

The service just continued to chat pleasantly with guests, while I had to ask for the menu twice, after 45 minutes I took the menu myself, but when the food was finally delivered, he brought one of our dishes to another table who also started it and which turned out not to be correct, so he got a new dish and so did I, so when my wife had finished eating my dish arrived...

Prachtige locatie, heerlijk eten en vriendelijke bediening. Je kunt 3- of 4-gangen menu kiezen of losse gerechten bestellen. We komen graag nog eens terug!

Went here for lunch on Friday afternoon. Bad experience, coke drinks were not cold. Asked for ice cubes myself. Quality club sandwich with fries, seriously substandard fries fried in old fish-tasting oil. Quality eggs Benedict also severely substandard hollandaise sauce sour, the eggs Benedict is also not prepared as it should be. I expected a lot more from this, I regret that I didn't just go to Van der Valk, then you know it's always good. Maybe we just missed it and it's normally fine, but I don't know. Not a nice lunch for me, but two days on the pot.

Business Christmas dinner, service was good and food excellent

We stumbled upon Brasserie Oud-Zuilen while on a bike ride on a sunny day. It is on a dock on a quiet part of Vecht with a view of floral shrubs, a fancy tiny neighborhood and rare small groups of people coming on boats. We already had lunch but the vibes of this place made us stay for some light snacks and drinks. The food is nice and it is well presented for the price range. It is a cozy place I would recommend visiting if you want to try something a little out of the city or host a small group on a special occasion.

Beautiful location with knowledgeable and friendly service. Excellent wine and cuisine. Our Belgian guests, who are not always positive about Dutch cuisine, were also more than satisfied.

The food is very tasty, but the price is high. It is a beautiful place, but the live lobsters in a bare aquarium are really passé and really detract from the impression.

Had lunch on the terrace, other guests wanted to sit on 'the pier' hahahaha and even waited a while until a table became available. The jetty is indeed nice, but having to wait for it... Delicious salad and egg Benedict, super friendly relaxed service, even though they had to help plenty of tables, and a nice atmosphere here!!

Had a lovely meal with my partner, compliments for the kitchen staff and in particular “Tamara”, who is very customer-friendly and hospitable! We will definitely come back (with friends)…

In one of the most beautiful places on the Vecht you can enjoy fantastic food at a “normal” price.

The restaurant, atmosphere, and food are lovely, but I find them very pricey, and the menu is limited. They could do with adding simpler food like burgers and chips to their lunch menu, or even a couple of toasted sandwiches...

Delicious food and very friendly service. The only downside was the noise in the restaurant, it was difficult to have a conversation with 2 people. But that doesn't outweigh the food and service.

Unfortunately, they don't have any decent vegetarian options on the menu: as far as starters and main courses are concerned, only the comment is that the kitchen can improvise something, and as far as lunch is concerned, in 2024 you really can't get by with a goat's cheese salad. The place is very beautiful on a warm summer evening on the jetty or terrace. The food okay, but very expensive for what you get. Not really good wine advice. We had a nice evening, but the price-quality is out of balance.

We had a delicious meal here on the jetty (beautiful summer evening). They have various dishes for reasonable prices and if you want something more luxurious, this is also possible. Extensive wine list. The service was good and exactly as it should be. Smooth and attentive. We will definitely come back here again.

Mede door dit restaurant heb ik een geweldig werkafscheid mogen beleven. Dit zou op het terras plaats vinden met totaal 28 personen, doch door het mindere weer was er, in overleg, in de serre gedekt (met tafellinnen, welke je als optie kunt gebruiken, waarvan de prijs heel schappelijk was). De serre kijkt uit op het water. We hebben allen genoten van een 3- gangen keuze menu, welke voor een diner zeker geschikt is en hier als lunch besteld kan worden. En wat was alles lekker en mooi en tegelijk opgediend!! De bediening was ook zo warm, voorkomend en rekening houdend met speeches om op te dienen. Wij gaan hier zeker nog een keer eten.

Apart from the very frosty welcome the food was excellent.

Wij spraken bij deze brasserie af met vrienden die in Ede wonen, zodat beide stellen niet zo ver hoefden te rijden. De ligging is perfect, een terras zo aan de vecht. Wij bestelden een voor- (carpaccio) en hoofdgerecht (op de huid gebakken zeebaars met risotto en gemengde groenten), tenslotte allemaal een koffie ter afsluiting. Qua gerechten, goede prijs/kwaliteit verhouding. De dames en heer van de bediening: hartstikke vriendelijk, de gerechten kwamen vlot. Een mooi restaurant met een goede sfeer. Wij konden goed parkeren. Ik zou 5 sterren gegeven hebben als de prijzen van de wijn iets meer in verhouding stonden. Vanáf/ruim 6 euro per glas, wij bestelden een fles Pino Grigio, deze kostte 38 euro...deze prijzen gelden voor nagenoeg alle wijnen Behalve dat niets op aan te merken.

As always: good affordable wines, good cuisine and the service was excellent, fast, spontaneous and a showcase for many restaurants to learn from. Where do they still turn off the music at the request of a hearing impaired client? Atmosphere is warm, well cared for.

This restaurant is located on the Vecht. There are beautiful dishes on the menu. We chose the vitello tonato as a starter and the sea bream as a main course. Both were excellently prepared and tasted delicious. The vitello tonato was well topped with a delicious dressing and the sea bream was crispy fried on a generous bed of pearl couscous. Highly recommended. Dessert was the dame blanche and a cheese board. The latter was first served without explanation but later, upon request, it was. All in all, we enjoyed a wonderful evening of dining out with the benefit of the Fork (50% discount on the food), which makes it feasible for us to enjoy higher quality. It's a shame that the drinks are priced on the high side. In the summer, the brasserie also has a terrace above the water with parasols, making it idyllic and romantic.

What a great surprise. This place should be always sold out. Great service, lovely music and atmosphere. Amazing view, lots of seats inside and outside. Food is also very good. This has become one of our favourites in the Utrecht area.

Tjonge jonge, ik blijf me altijd maar weer verbazen op welke “slakken sommige beoordelaars zout leggen; hun goed recht overigens maar soms ook zooo ontzettend ver gezocht. Kom op zeg, dit is een ouderwetse toptent met fantastisch eten, op een unieke locatie, goed personeel en waar-voor-je-geld-prijzen. Geen eenheidsworst zoals de meeste restaurants maar ouderwetse allure en gerechten waar aandacht en passie uit spreekt. Bourgondische Franse inslag maar alles met behoud van kwaliteit gecombineerd met prima wijnen; een feestje. En natuurlijk gaat er hier of daar ergens wel eens iets mis, waar niet? Maar dat is toch zeker hier niet de rode draad. Dit soort restaurant worden steeds schaarser maar verdienen het juist om de echte liefhebbers te blijven verwennen. Wij komen hier als horeca ondernemers door de jaren heen met zekere regelmaat en durven dit restaurant met een gerust hart aan te bevelen … ga voor een geweldige lunch de Salade-riche maar eens proeven, glas rosé erbij en je dag kan niet meer stuk -). Boy, I never cease to be amazed at the "snails" some reviewers put their salt on; their right, by the way, but sometimes also sooo far-fetched. Come on, this is an old-fashioned top place with fantastic food, in a unique location, good staff and value-for-money prices. No uniformity like most restaurants, but old-fashioned allure and dishes that express attention and passion. Burgundian French slant but all while maintaining quality combined with excellent wines; a party. And of course something goes wrong here or there, right? But that is certainly not the common thread here. These types of restaurants are becoming increasingly scarce, but they deserve to continue to pamper the real enthusiasts. As catering entrepreneurs, we have come here regularly over the years and dare to recommend this restaurant with confidence... try the Salade-riche for a great lunch, add a glass of rosé and your day can't go wrong -) . I only have one word for this beautiful restaurant “PERFECT!!!”

Had dinner here on Christmas Day. Nice 5-course menu of choice. Good portions, not those small one-bite courses. Really well and originally tuned for a very acceptable amount, which is not unimportant. Also nice is the wine Bob arrangement. Here too, do not just wet the lips, but generously. Oud Zuilen is really in a beautiful location, always atmospheric here and very nice service. So we had a delicious meal. Recommended. What we did miss is that the staff were not dressed in their Christmas best, you couldn't tell from them that it was Christmas, perhaps a tip for next year.

Nice restaurant with a part on the water, delicious food and good atmosphere

Updated 10/27/23. Fantastic food and excellent service. They've got it back in order! As in the old days... Nice place, but the service is going in the wrong direction. A real disappointment (to put it mildly). I hope it gets back to the level of (delicious) food soon!

Cozy place on the water. Nice relaxed service, nice menu, food is excellent. All in all, everything is quite pricey but the quality is very good. Sit outside on the terrace with beautiful views and enjoy...

Unfortunately not all this evening. Food generally very good (apart from greasy fries) and wines in good order, but also for the price (starters 15-25, main 25-35). But the service was way out of shape, the covered terrace was just too cold, the music went in all directions (ending with accordion music), so not an experience worth repeating at all.

Rude €10.50 for a glass of red wine

Moored at this restaurant on a lovely sunny Saturday afternoon. We wanted to have lunch. It's a fantastic place. The service is extremely friendly and attentive. The lunch, goat cheese salad and shrimp croquettes, was mediocre in taste and way too expensive for what was offered. Could be much better.

We were not exactly welcomed there last week around 2 p.m. The terrace was nowhere near full, but there was no room left according to an employee ("all reserved for lunch"). Seems quite unlikely to me given the time and the amount of free places/tables. There were also no 'reserved' signs on the tables. Fortunately, we were able to have a very pleasant lunch a little further on in Maarssen at Le Brasseur. It was very busy there, but we were still welcome.

Inserito in un bel contesto, su un canale con il relativo molo in un sobborgo di Utrecht, dove si trova anche un bel borgo e un bel castello. Non affidarsi al navigatore dell'auto ma guardare su google maps, comunque non bisogna girare a sinistra all'incrocio per il borgo o il castello ma uscire a sinistra alla rotonda  precedente (non siamo riusciti ad arrivarci dal paese). Il locale è molto bello, una costruzione con il molo, con tavoli interni, in veranda ed esterni sul molo. Un locale elegante adatto anche alle occasioni importanti, con una clientela molto educata. Menu completo con varie possibilità di scelta anche se difficile per un italiano comprendere il significato di tutto. Abbiamo preso una tartare, un carpaccio, una entrecote, un petto d'anatra, un gelato e i 3 sorbetti. Tutto di gusto eccezionale, al punto che sono sempre più convinto che non è vero che per mangiare bene bisogna andare in Italia o in Francia ma è evidente che in Olanda si mangia molto bene. Birra ottima. Conto bassissimo per la qualità - una cena simile in Italia sarebbe costata il 30%+ . Servizio eccellente. Camerieri disponibili e simpatici, sempre inclini ad accontentare il cliente. Ampio parcheggio. Eccellente pulizia.

Beautiful location and a nice, classic menu with dishes that are well executed. Service is smooth and friendly. As it should be, a carafe of water is immediately placed on the table, unfortunately a rarity these days in many other restaurants.

The food seems special, but the food has not been very tasty twice and it is pricey. Service was not good, staff was friendly, but everything took a very long time and they hardly walk by to get another drink or something. The atmosphere and setting are very beautiful on the Vecht.

Went by on spec on a Thursday evening. Nice quiet place on the Vecht. Friendly staff who take the time for you and a really delicious meal outside on the jetty. Highly recommended and we will definitely come back.

Lunch at Brasserie Oud Zuilen. Expensive... dessert is nothing special. Expected more.

Niet makkelijk te vinden maar wel een prima plek aan de Vecht. Heerlijk terras, leuke gerechten die prima smaken. Prijzen wel wat aan de hoge kant voor de porties en gebruikte ingrediënten maar het uitzicht maakt dat goed, zeker op een zonnige dag. Kan druk zijn, reserveren is wel aanbevolen zeker in het weekend.

Everything was fine, except the men in the service were wearing shorts. That is not possible in this restaurant, which is more for the sea.

I think it is a wonderful restaurant with an excellent menu.

Actually 4.5 stars but still 5 because of the friendly staff. 14.50 for a children's menu is an adult price. Just wanted a drink and it was no problem. There was only room outside but it had just rained. Chairs and tables were dried immediately. Wifi for the children was very kindly provided by an employee. Ordered 1 children's menu, not out of economy, we were asked if it should be on plates. That means thinking along. Hence the 5 stars.

Brasserie Oud-Zuilen is great. We come here regularly and recently we celebrated a party here at this great location with more than 30 people with an excellent lunch. The organization, the quality of the dishes, the many choices and the friendly service were excellent. All our guests indicated that they enjoyed the atmosphere and the good care. Thanks to the whole team for that. In short, a place to return to, something we will certainly do.

The price-quality ratio is far too expensive for a dish

A hidden gem. Lovely restaurant. Very friendly service, the food taste amazing, and the view is so charming~ Quiet expensive for a lunch, but it’s worth it. Love the lobster + coquille salad. And very lovely wine too.

We had a quite bad experience. Except for the food which is really good and fresh, with delicious fish. We had to wait so long to have a waiter that I needed two times to grab the menu by myself and call the waiter. But the worst part of it was the bill with a 85€ (yes, 85€...) mistake. They counted 4 bottles of wine for us, we were 5. We had 2 bottles and the other 2 were, as we can imagine, more expansive than the ones we drank. It is an uncomfortable feeling to be stolen. We made our best as tourists to speak some words of Dutch, but probably we remain tourists so let's try to arise the bill?

What a find! Great food, good wines, a beautiful location and helpful staff! The only tip would be to have one extra staff member walking around the terrace. We had an unforgettable evening, thank you!

Inexperienced, not well trained staff without an eye for new guests. A menu was brought at our request, but after 20 minutes no one came to take the food. We just paid for the drinks and left. NB...for non-smokers it would be nice to screen off a part of the terrace for them. Small effort... big pleasure.

Never experienced that before. I think the employee/manager is having a bad day or is not aware of social media and what it can mean for your business. We are sitting on the jetty/terrace and he asks (we are all alone) if the dog can leave (in the boat) because he is afraid that employees will fall into the water. Sorry?? We've been here before, never had any problems. No, that was his policy now. Well sir my policy is a bad review and losing a few regular customers.

Has allure and prices of a star restaurant but doesn't deliver, which is a shame Incompetent but friendly service. Young boys but know nothing. Dishes mediocre in taste.

We held the reception of our wedding at the brasserie. Top location and excellent service. Everyone enjoyed themselves and we as a bridal couple had an unforgettable day. The owner is a very friendly man and took the time to discuss all our wishes with us and Frank took care of everything on the day itself. After the reception we had dinner with family (15 people) and that went smoothly. Beautiful location and definitely recommended for events! Perfect!

Lots of glamor for little taste and expensive price. My vegetables were not fresh and prepared with the least care. The one wine I drank was certainly pleasant. Not everything that described my dish was on my plate! Nice view, but I wouldn't come back for it.
