There's a lack of information and knowledge about allergens. When we asked for an allergen card, we were given a folder with items not listed on the menu, and when ordering, it wasn't clear whether the gluten-free requirement was properly communicated. We weren't asked if everything was to our liking or if we wanted to order anything else (other tables were). When we paid, we were expected to leave a tip, but unfortunately, we didn't think it was worth it.

Extensive lunch menu. We opted for the 12-hour fish special, which turned out to be a good choice. A downside is the slow service. One person, with over 30 guests, is not enough.

We ate here for my father-in-law's 100th birthday. Yesterday, we mentioned that we were coming with 19 people, and yet they set the table for 18. It took forever to get our food, and one side of the table had already finished eating before the other had even had anything to eat. It took us 4.5 hours for two courses. Unfortunately, the food wasn't great. It was simple and nothing special. I had the salmon salad, and it was swimming in oil. It's a shame because the interior is very nice, and you can sit on a lovely terrace if you like. It's fine for drinks, but I wouldn't recommend it for dinner.

I had an unpleasant experience when I ate here for the first time recently. The food wasn't cooked through, it was tasteless, and it took far too long to arrive. I also found the situation very unprofessional. I've heard a lot of complaints from others about this place, and I completely understand their opinions. It's not worth the effort or your money.

We were staying at the Hotel "de Villa" and came here for dinner. The quality was good, but there was very little on the plates. No salad garnish, no side dishes – nothing. 3 iced teas, 1 rump steak, 1 pork fillet medallions, 1 apple pie with cream and ice cream: just under €60. Yes, it was tasty – but the portions were very tiny. Even though the rump steak had a lot of meat, it weighed 120 grams.

A varied menu with some game for Elma, meat, fish, and vegetarian. Friendly service and a cozy, colorful interior. Excellent value for money!

Cozy interior. We sat partly outside and partly on the large terrace. The service was very friendly and attentive. The lunch looked good and tasted great. I would have preferred some firmer bread with the fish sandwich instead of "cotton bread." The espresso was delicious.

Ate at Brasserie Kakelbont for the first time. I had a great meal, the gambas were good, and the grilled vegetables were also great. In the evening on May 3, 2025, we had a bite to eat at Brasserie Kakelbont. To be very honest, this was not our first choice for a bite to eat, but last minute it was the only one that had room this evening. And quite honestly, even though the place was not well stocked, I was still surprised by the food and the friendliness of the service. A bit direct here and there and perhaps awkward, but that did not detract from the good service. Especially the young man serving was great! The style is different than normal and Kakelbont naturally comes from Pippi Longstocking and this is also reflected in the interior, a nice touch! Because it was ''empty'', the atmosphere was not optimal, but the service and food certainly made up for this. We went for a main course and a dessert. The main course I chose was the Bonte Burger and my table companion went for the Kangaroo. As a side dish (you must order this separately) we chose truffle mayonnaise and Parmesan cheese-covered fries. To be honest, we both didn't regret our choice, because it tasted delicious! Kangaroo was tender and delicious and the burger was well filled and just fit in your mouth. The fries also tasted great. After such a main course we opted for a small dessert, so we chose the sorbet. This was just 2 scoops of ice cream with some fruit. This was also tasty. In short, a delicious meal, nice company in a positively decorated Brasserie!

The loud and publicly audible complaint from the staff that they cannot work if they have to go outside via the pedestrian door instead of the fire door says it all. Little passion for the profession and just as little compassion for elderly people who do not want to be in the draft. People got up and sat elsewhere because the staff did not understand the feedback, which is a shame because the location is beautifully located. Ultimately it's about how you are treated and that determines the atmosphere. The asparagus soup was substandard, too watery, little taste and with only a few tiny asparagus cubes of 3mm. The salmon and hamburger were good except for the onion rings, which looked like plastic. The homemade apple pie made up for a lot and was really tasty.

As a hotel guest you will get a good breakfast here and you can enjoy an excellent meal here. This combined with the friendly staff makes a visit here a pleasant experience.

A hidden gem (for us) in Dongen! Tonight we had dinner at Brasserie Kakelbont for the first time since we lived in Dongen and what a party it was. We have a delicious 3-course menu and the tomato soup with meatballs is definitely recommended! In addition, it is clearly noticeable that the meat comes from the local butcher because it was of excellent quality! We will definitely come by more often :) Also a plus: the dog was allowed to come along!

Simply a beautiful location where an enthusiastic owner and staff do their best to make the guests happy. All in all, an address where you can enjoy your coffee, lunch or dinner in a relaxed, informal manner. Also the option to stay in to book an overnight stay at the hotel...I'd say just try it once...

Went there tonight, it has a nice atmospheric appearance. Food was also very tasty and staff very friendly. Until about 9pm then... It wasn't busy (Monday evening) so didn't the heating have to be turned on? It was even colder inside than outside ☃️. At 8:30 PM it was neatly announced that we could not order anything after 9:00 PM. A bit strange, since the website states that they are open until 11 p.m. But nothing else was said. At exactly 9 p.m. the bill was placed on the table without us asking for it. We were also not asked if we wanted to pay/leave. Then at 9.15 pm someone starts mopping the floor very furiously and the music is turned off (in the hope that we would leave?). Only then will someone come to us to say that they want to close this way. Then say this when you put the bill on the table! AND DO NOT PUT ON THE WEBSITE THAT YOU ARE OPEN UNTIL 11:00 PM! My husband and I dinner tonight there and we enjoy very much our dishes. Everything was excellent:super service, ambience; and what a nice surprise to find out we were attended by owner himself. Interesting place to visit as historic and beautiful mansion and also is a boutique hotel with beautiful 14 rooms. Success!!!!

Had a delicious meal at Brasserie Kakelbont on Friday, August 30. There is a wide choice of starters and main courses. We had the salmon fillet grilled on charcoal and the prawns. Highly recommended. And finally the tasty grilled pineapple. The service is friendly and hospitable. The dishes are low priced. Inside, the restaurant is tastefully and warmly decorated. Outside there is a terrace located next to a beautiful park. Brasserie Kakelbont is highly recommended. We will definitely come back.

I had already heard that it is not really good, but I always wanted to try it out for myself. Well, it's true, lobster soup without lobster so just some broth, I was supposed to get a plate with 2 pieces of Dorado fish, but it turned out to be only 1 SMALL piece of 5 cm and that cost € 13.50 A hamburger for €18.50 with a diameter of no more than 6 cm and so on. If you want a second glass of wine, they come with the bottle because they are too lame to rinse. Sorry if I sound harsh, but the price per tapa is many times higher than normal. There is another tapa restaurant in the region where you can eat ALL EVENING for half the price They really can't keep this up, too expensive for far too little food

Price-quality ratio must be better. I had a veggie burger. Was a small burger on a small bun, without decoration, but 14 euros. The chicken thigh skewer was also on the pricey side for only 1 skewer with literally tasteless prawn crackers for 13.75. You had to order fries separately. The food itself was tasty, but relatively expensive for what you get. The All Day concept where you can share dishes is not clear enough. When you order something you will receive a clearly laid out plate for one person. It is also not clear whether all dishes on the menu are now included, because everything is served as a single dish (with corresponding price).

After having eaten at the old Winkk business a few times, we now wanted to try the new Brasserie Kakelbont business with the new concept. You can sit on the terrace, really relaxed. It wasn't that busy, there were 4 tables on a sunny Sunday. It turned out very nice inside. They have nice beers on the menu and tap. I had the homemade ice tea which unfortunately was not very tasty. It was as if the lemons were not good, very sour, so I added some sugar, but that didn't really help. I didn't drink it all either. My husband had an Opener beer which is from a Dongen brewery and later a draft beer. The idea of ​​small dishes that you can share is a nice idea. But I find the amounts for some main courses expensive compared to what you get. For example, with a hamburger sandwich, sharing is difficult and if you want fries with it it becomes quite pricey, but the ribeye is a lot cheaper. We had a br sandwich with cheese and fried egg, br sandwich with grilled chicken and I had a white sandwich, the Bonte sandwich. The mainly white bread was not fresh and very dry and falling apart. The toppings were good, but it was a shame that the bread was so dry. This is easily remedied by buying bread from the bakery in your own village, which are very good, and baking these loaves on the day itself so that it is not dry and gets a nice hard crust. This was factory bread and really not tasty. I reported it about the bread and ice tea and hope they do something about it. We will definitely come back and I hope they listen to their guests and the other reviews and do a few things differently. Then it will surely become a top business.

Nothing has changed in the atmosphere that was there with the previous owner. It is simply a beautiful building in a beautiful location. But the hamburger I got for lunch really didn't taste like anything. Even if it was angus meat, it is still a hamburger. And it was raw and therefore cold on a soggy bun. You had to find the lettuce, there were exactly 2 small slices of pickle on it and a dollop of sauce. That sauce was the only tasty thing about the whole thing. And all for a cool 16.50 euros. At McDonald's you get even more value for your money. There are certainly some cafeterias in Dongen that can prepare a much tastier hamburger for half the price. Moreover, it took a very long time to get our food even though it was not really busy. They won't see us again

We were regular customers of the previous owner. Beautifully renovated interior and beautifully executed and well-implemented concept. Quite a lot of tables/seats…. Very friendly service, although the waiter came to the table several times with the same question. The dishes also came out of the kitchen a bit slowly, even though it was not full, but we were here on Pentecost and the restaurant had just been open for 10 days, so we won't complain about that. They have a sharing concept, but the “main courses” such as a hamburger or a piece of salmon are difficult to share. Cheese board as a starter could be shared, but 6 slices of cheese for €12 is a bit meager, especially because it is aimed at the masses. “Main courses” salmon and steak were very well prepared, but vegetables and fries must be ordered separately. The fries were great, but all in all it is still a pricey “medium-size” main course. A tip is to serve the dishes in smaller proportions / bowls / plates so that shared dining is actually possible. We will come back at a later stage.

We were very excited about a new eatery in Dongen. But what a mockery this is. I understand that there may be start-up problems, but there are still many points that are wrong. A burger for almost 18 euros, which turns out to be a small burger on a soggy soft bun without even a pinneke fries. That's a lot of money for little food. What also bothered me was that a lot of it was not available. Proudly put on the menu that you have Homemade Lemonade but don't have the ingredients for it. I asked for a glass of tap water for medicine, but they don't do that because only water from an expensive filtered tap water for which you pay big money. While according to my knowledge it is mandatory to serve tap water when asked. Service not friendly either. I hope that they will soon start working and purchasing better and think about their prices, otherwise I don't think it will have a long life by Dongense standards. The business and corporate identity look great, but in the end you won't make any money with it.

Brasserie Kakelbont profiles itself on dishes to share. Where every other restaurant makes larger dishes, this new operator opts for smaller dishes. Unfortunately, you pay the full price. The colorful burger is a hefty, well-grilled burger. The bun is a soft bun with a color, nice theme. But because it is a soft bun, it is already soggy upon arrival due to the sauce and tomato that are both on the bottom. The bacon isn't really cooked through. And on that small plate there is nothing but that soggy sandwich with my burger. For about 17 euros that is a meager, soggy mess. No, there are some points that I can classify as start-up problems. For example, some of the staff today are inexperienced, slow, and some are not customer-oriented. But when I look at what people offer and what they ask for it, there are more than enough alternatives in Dongen that offer more value and more quality for the same money.

We had brunch in the small hall on April 20, 2024. The last day as Winkk, because it has been taken over by someone else. So there was already stuff here and there that was going to be changed...

Went for the first time yesterday. The atmosphere upon entering is good, nicely laid tables. What was disappointing: the service didn't really try, we had to walk to the bar twice to get something to drink. We both ordered from the menu. People behind us had ordered the same thing but separately. With the menu you only get half, a very poorly prepared plate. 2 small pieces of suckling pig, some risotto and a small pile of tomato, mushroom and pepper. During payment we received the full price instead of the price of the menu. Then it was said... yes, that's why we give the receipt so you can check it... an apology couldn't be avoided. For us, there are several reasons not to tip and certainly not to come back again. For these prices there are plenty of restaurants where you get a well-cared for product on the table!

Super vriendelijke bediening, we kregen een lekker kreeften amuse vooraf. Grote porties, verzorgd en heel lekker. Het restaurant straalde rust en genot uit. Wij namen het buikspek en de maaltijdsalade met kalkoen en extra verse frietjes. 👌Het buikspek paste perfect bij de rode huiswijn.

Wij gingen op onze trouwdag genieten van het driegangen menu ( goede porties), voorafgegaan door heerlijk verse broodjes met smeersels. Ook werden we verrast met een heerlijke amuse van pulled porc, rabarber en appelstroop; lekkere combinatie! De bediening was goed. Het was een rustige avond...zodat alles vlot doorkwam. Kortom: was een geslaagd kado🍀

Echte kwalitatieve Groene en Earl Grey thee erbij gedronken, wat ook een hele beleving was. ❣️😍 ♿🚾Het invalidentoilet verdient een kleine update, want rechts van het toilet is geen beugel. Tevens een kapstok haakje om een tas aan te hangen, die laag hangt is geen overbodige luxe.♿ 🤔😁Alles bij elkaar is het de moeite waard om hier te lunchen, zeker in de zomer, want dan kun je heerlijk op het terras zitten. 🤔😋

Heerlijk gegeten. De avocado burger is een aanrader. Personeel heel vriendelijk en professioneel.

Het eten smaakt prima, maar tot 2x toe waren ze onze tafel vergeten en zonder excuus zat er veel tijd tussen onze gangen. Gelukkig had ik gezellig gezelschap van lieve vriendinnen.
