This bakery and coffee shop was just round the corner from our hotel. We had tea and cake when we first arrived and then had breakfast two consecutive days before having to fly home. A good casual artisan venue I would frequent if I lived locally and also recommended to tourists like me

We had a great breakfast at Brothers Niemeijer! We were able to get a table easily and we ordered and got our food quickly. I got the latte mocha, the yogurt bowl with granola, and a tart au citron and my husband got a flat white and the petit pan and everything was so good! We came on our last day in Amsterdam but we wish we had come sooner to get some bread for our Airbnb because everything there looked so good.

I walked in here on a whim and got a 75 cent bit of walnut bread. It was incredible and I would definitely come back to get a bigger walnut loaf and try a pastry!

Okay, not really good. A petit déjeune (3 mini rolls, mini croissant, orange juice, coffee) cost €9.95. The service was very friendly. Not good enough for me to want to come back.

We got coffee and pastries to go for breakfast, as we sat by the water near Centraal Station. The coffee (latte macchiato) was excellent, and while the pastries (all made with puff pastry) were quite expensive, they were incredibly delicious. The girls behind the counter were busy, but unfortunately didn't seem very customer-friendly (they rushed us through, and there was none of the typical Amsterdam friendliness) – but it's primarily about the products, and they were top-notch!

The croissants were fresh and delicious. We also tried the Pain aux raisins and Pain au chocolat. The butter croissants were much better. We paid 27 euros for two people. We might have eaten a little too many croissants 😂

Gebroeders Niemeijer is by far the best bakery in Amsterdam. As a local, I visit frequently and never had a bad experience. The staff is friendly, the food is indulgent, but not overly sweet or buttery. Just as the French intended it. I can recommend visiting to anyone.

Tried out this bakery after a friend recommended it many years ago. Great breakfast selection, I opted for the breakfast menu with cheese ham (croissant, 3 petit pain, cheese, ham, butter, apricot jam, coffee and orange juice all for €12.99). Well worth it if you like break and cheese. The seating in the upper deck of the restaurant could be more cosy but apart from that the food, staff and location is great.

Just had a terrific French style breakfast with an incredible selection of croissants and pastries, as well as ham and Gruyere and fresh orange juice. Everything is baked in house and the staff is extremely friendly. Will definitely be back. Highly recommend!

Please make the sandwich bread bigger! You have to eat two pieces. The cheese in the sandwich tastes really great.

Very nice place for a quick coffee and something to eat. You can take it in your hand or sit there. We generally because we walk a lot we took coffee in our hand and a brownie and a croissant. I must admit that the brownie was very nice as well as the croissant. A nice classic bakery that I will definitely visit again in the future!

January 2025 I guess the first bakery (at least on off) that serve a good croissant and baguette. They have quite a selection of bread and nice 'bites'. In a spot you don't expect a bakery like this. If they have space real nice to sit down and order from the menu.

Niemeijer is an oasis on a bustling, ungorgeous tourist street in one of Amsterdam’s most touristy areas. The bakery feels like a discovery you want to keep secret, yet it’s clearly known to locals (who queue outside waiting for the doors to open) and travelers alike. Naturally leavened breads, yeasted loaves, and beautifully laminated pastries are complemented by excellent coffee, delivered by a wonderful young staff who keep pace with the steady flow of customers. Sit upstairs and look up at the frescoed ceiling, or gaze out through the oversized plate-glass window to the street below. My favorite breakfast: walnut and fig petit pains with Gruyère and a flat white. But I'll be back tomorrow for a croissant or a pain au chocolat!

I love this place for breakfast and lunch. They also sell very tasty and fresh pastries and really good bread. This place manages to not be touristy while smack in the middle of the highly touristic area close to the station. I recommend the eclairs and the bread with fig and walnuts.

I'm local and visited this backery for the first time for someone told me it was worth it. My daughter's hot chocolate could have done with double the dose of cacao instead the meager portion it had. The oude kaas baguette could have done with a 3rd slice of cheese (too little) and with some French moutarde instead of the tasteless Dutch one. The coffee was okay. Asking for the bill at the cash register I first got someone else's, then just the payment bill, and only after a 3rd request the actual bill. This one showed I paid € 32 instead of the € 23 I was required to pay. As I had to ask 3 times for the bill, I believe the mistake was intentional. Surely this place was once a must, due to its success I doubt it still is. Becoming a tourist trap.

Exceptionally tasty snacks, excellent coffee, a lovely spot for breakfast, brunch, or lunch. A trendy setting in the heart of Amsterdam. We arrived at a busy time, which made the service a bit slow. Our order took a while to arrive and turned out to be missing. It was resolved politely and kindly.

This is a delightful place and the staff is really kind. We came in with a young child and a stroller, there is a room with a child seat and toys, one of the staff allowed us to keep the stroller on the ground floor. The croissants are amazing, really crispy, the cappuccino really good and the babyccino was the best we got in Amsterdam.

The Mille Feuille was just amazing! The crust and cream were so good. Would happily go again just for that.

I’m very disappointed with this bakery. The pain au chocolat is inconsistent in size — sometimes decent, but most of the time tiny, weighing only around 60g. To make matters worse, they recently raised the price from €1.90 to €2.10 without any improvement in quality. It feels unfair and frustrating. The bread itself is okay to good, but still highly overpriced for what you get.

In my opinion, it's the best baguette in Amsterdam (even compared to some other specialty bakeries; my wife thinks Le Fournil de Sébastien's is the best). A firm, crispy, and flavorful crust, also delicious on the inside, though sometimes oddly shaped (thick ends, very thin center). Also delicious whole-wheat sourdough bread. The price of €2.30 is slightly below average for the specialty bakeries I've tried in recent weeks. Being open on Sundays is a plus for me. Ordering isn't always easy, and no response to emails can mean it hasn't been read or processed.

Fantastic authentic bakers and cafe. I had a small baguette with Parma ham which was perfect. Bread was amazing. The bakers can be seen baking the bread downstairs enhancing the fantastic coffee smell.great coffee to!

The food was truly excellent – fresh, delicious, and clearly made with care. Unfortunately, the cleanliness could have been better. The dishes, cutlery, and table weren’t very clean, and everything was wiped down with an old, worn-out cloth. That’s a shame, as it took away from an otherwise very positive experience.

Ordered a petit dejeuner extra. Very tasty!!! A place where you can have a nice and quick breakfast. If you like to read other reviews like I do: remember that tastes differ. Comparing the prices and the size with other bakeries or even other countries is comparing apples and oranges. We found the size of the 'petit dejeuner extra' perfect. Different types of cheese, delicious! It is not cheap, and that makes sense when you consider the location and the battery of staff that is working. Very nice, because that way we did not have to wait on a Saturday morning during a long weekend. The breakfast was quick and the second round of coffee too. But if we are comparing: compared to other lunch places I found it very affordable and very filling! Only hungry again late in the afternoon.

As good French people, we wanted good bread during our stay. It was difficult to find a real bakery in Amsterdam.. we were advised to buy bread in a supermarket.. but finally after some research we came across this bakery. We enjoyed the walnut bread! 🤩

We went there for breakfast and both had a baguette (one with cheese, other with cheese and ham). The baguette had a nice crust, cheese made a nice contrast. Service was amazing and prices where very fair.

We are in Amsterdam for a short holiday ,went to this place for the first time to have a quick coffee and to rest for walking in town The place is cute , old design , basic furniture no decoration but you just look at the bakery and know how classy and authentic this place is despite being in 2025 they are not following any trend and have their own style and class I had decaf americano coffee with citrus cake dusted icing sugar on top that was soooo delicious and just like home made My friend had Millie feuille and was a big piece and very nice . They actually had too many options to pick from all freshly made and healthy Place have a seating area but on a top level so few steps up , Staff were young and friendly and super kind. Place was super busy and people were queuing to grab a drink/food

Dos capuchinos y dos productos horneados 13. 10 € y un edificio tan interesante en el interior. Junto con muy servicial y guía de donde tenemos que ir a continuación.
