I was treated very poorly here due to a specific food intolerance. I was treated in an unfriendly manner, and the situation was resolved anything but properly. I don't understand how a company like this has been able to exist for so long, because years ago—when they had only just started—I heard quite a few negative stories about them through word of mouth (in my circle). But since many years have passed since then and they apparently can still exist, I thought: surely they must be doing something right. And I thought: let me give it a try anyway. I have since realized that if you want a pleasant, customer-friendly experience with really tasty food, and a customer-friendly solution for an intolerance, you absolutely should NOT go to the Burgemeester van Napels. I will truly never go there again.

Sometimes the best evening starts with a small mistake… like locking yourself out. 😂🔑 What started with helping a friend with a chair ended with new encounters, beautiful conversations about our cultures, and an unexpected visit to a cozy Italian restaurant. Our friend Manan Sharma, who works in the kitchen there, immediately welcomed us with his familiar smile: “Would you like something to drink or eat?” Well… one drink turned into a wonderful evening with fantastic food, pasta, pizza, fish, drinks, and above all, lots of fun. ❤️ Exactly the kind of place where you don't feel like a customer, but almost like family. Apparently, sometimes you have to lose your key first to find the perfect evening. 😂🍕🍝

I've never had such a bad pizza. Black edges, and I ordered a pizza with roasted pork, but I think it was completely roasted because I didn't come across any meat. This was our first experience, but we are never coming back!

We had a very pleasant time sitting outside. Tasty starter, portion large enough. And we had a pizza. Not a huge pizza, but flavorful. Worth repeating. The menu is extensive too.

We have eaten there often in the past, and it was fine then. This time it was very disappointing. We finished our soup before our drinks arrived. No cutlery. We had to ask for it ourselves. The sandwiches were sparsely filled and lacked flavor. And it took a long time before they were served.

The pizza was tasty, but you had to wait a very long time for it. Very busy restaurant where you sit quite close together.

When we go out for dinner, we choose to make it a pleasant evening, even if the food is disappointing; so we are not going to complain, but we do decide not to go again. We find the ambiance here okay. However, the price-quality ratio of the dinner is completely out of proportion, which is the reason for writing a review anyway. The bread board starter was good, followed by 2 pizzas, one of which was reasonable, the second had hardly any toppings, and the scroppino dessert looked like nothing at all. Bill €91 including 4 drinks.

We had a delicious meal here with the whole family for a very reasonable price. There is a separate play area for the kids, so the grandchildren's special kids' pizza had to go home in a doggy bag because they were so busy playing. We also thought it was a really nice time!

Expensive pizzeria, nothing special.

Prawn pasta was good but... There was old menu in the website, no english version of the new menu in the restaurant and kitchen was out of chicken.

Unfortunately, this was a very disappointing experience for us. We had to wait an incredibly long time for our food, even though the restaurant didn't seem particularly busy. When the food finally arrived, the portions were very small and completely out of proportion to the price. For the amount you pay, you really expect more than just a few bites on your plate. The taste was fine, but that doesn't make up for the long wait and the meager portions. Paying a lot of money for so little food is simply a shame. Unfortunately, for us, this is no reason to come back again.

Delicious pizzas, would gladly order again 😋

We visit this place regularly. We love the pizzas here. But the service was not good. We asked for a glass of water from the tap and they said it was not possible. I understand they want to make money but I don't find acceptable to refuse to offer tap water when you are expending over 100 € there, specially on a warm summer day. Please reconsider your policy.

In terms of price, they really hit the mark. €11.00 for a sandwich and €4.50 for a soft drink.

Unfortunately, I did not have a pleasant experience at this restaurant. The wait staff had little knowledge of the dishes and were unable to properly indicate what was or was not suitable for pregnant women. Additionally, it took a very long time for food and drinks to arrive at the table. The lunch itself was also disappointing: the portions were small and the food was very tasteless. It is a shame, because as a result, expectations did not match the experience.

What a fantastic place! The pizzas are good, but the fennel soup is magical. The waitresses are awesome! And all of that just a stone's throw from a stunning parking garage! What more could you ask for? Had a great evening. P.S. the vodka is good too.

Three people enjoyed their meal reasonably well. One person thought the fennel salad tasted like absolutely nothing. This was very unfortunate. They tried to add something to it, but even then she found it inedible and left three-quarters of the salad uneaten. Nothing further was done about this, which was a shame. This was also pointed out when settling the bill.

The decor is nice. There is a play area for children. The cutlery was clean this time, so that is an improvement. I wasn't very enthusiastic about the pasta bolognese. It was sweet and sour at the same time. I found it inedible, so I wouldn't recommend it. The pasta carbonara, however, was tasty.

All the pizzas were actually a disappointment. Burnt crust, the rest undercooked. But we had been waiting for a long time, and friends had taken us there. The lady was friendly though. The atmosphere is very relaxed, fine with children. Dessert was excellent.

Long wait for the pizza (45 minutes). Very bad, lots of crust and sparse toppings. We had a pizza with grilled pork (these were just slices for sandwiches), mushrooms (exactly 3 slices), mozzarella and Parmesan cheese (didn't see or taste any cheese at all). In short, a huge letdown. Lots of dough instead of pizza, for a lot of money.

What a terrible pizza we got, more dough than toppings. And that for 20 euros! It said on the menu, with mushrooms.......so 3 small pieces! There was also very little choice in pizzas. Furthermore, the staff didn't even come by to ask if it tasted good.

I’m a fan of pasta and order most places that I go, I ordered the Linguini pasta(shrimp pasta) and after around 40 minutes, I got it and it was too hard to eat. The taste was good but the pasta itself needed at least 5 min to fully cook. It wasn’t eatable tbh. I sent my order back because of that. And guess what, nothing changed! They literally brought my dish back after 15 min and said now it should be better. Come on! That was the same thing. They just said it’s the way that we cook it. It was disappointing but good luck anyway. The Lasagna was really good by the way.

Fine, but looks and feels a bit chaotic. The carpaccio was tasty, and the pizza and pasta were adequate. The selection of (meat) pizzas was a bit disappointing, especially considering you can't get anything here other than pasta and pizza.

A truly terrible experience. We booked dinner with friends and our children over a month in advance, only to be called later to say the children weren't welcome because it was Valentine's Day. This is simply discrimination. A wonderful evening was thus robbed of us. We were also supposed to receive a call back for compensation, but so far we haven't heard anything.

The pasta Carbonara tastes good, not too greasy. And plenty of pancetta bacon. Well-seasoned. And the plate was well-filled...plenty of choice on the menu. Today we had a delicious meal together at Mayor of Naples. They still have plenty of dishes/pizzas on the menu. To try...and today I had a different pasta than my favorite. Delicious, and my dining companion enjoyed it too. In short, a successful and enjoyable time. After work, we went to Mayor of Naples. They had a new menu...so I had to search. Well, what I chose was so delicious. The waiter asked why it tasted so good. The answer: original products from Italy. Today a simple dish, tagliatelle, with a meat sauce. We had oven-baked prawns. And spaghetti, red peppers, parsley, garlic, and oil. She had a small pizza and salad. With a delicious dessert.

I had a reservation for 7:30, and after a half-hour drive, I was told they weren't allowed to hire new people due to a problem. It happens, of course. But a call to say I didn't have to come, or at least some compensation, would have been appropriate. Unfortunately, that didn't happen.

We had to wait a bit too long for another table and our food, which meant we were stuck in a draft for a while. It was resolved after an hour when we finally found another spot...then we could sit comfortably and enjoy a delicious meal!

The pizzas and pasta were truly awful. The service was meh. The location next to Doelesteeg wasn't ideal. A table by the window was more like a table overlooking a fight between drunken students. I had a terrible experience, and it was expensive.

Pizza is good but the last few years every year 2-3€ price goes up. Yes everything is getting a bit more expensive but I think they are going up a bit too fast, which is why pizza is now 18-20€ 🙈 and the worst part is that they put less ingredients on it these days.

Always delicious pizza! When it's busy, the wait can be a bit longer, but it's no problem at all in this lovely restaurant.

The pizza crust lacked flavor and was a bit tough.

The food was cold; it came straight from the refrigerator. Too bad. The soup was good. But the chicken sandwich was really cold.

REALLY TERRIBLE FOOD. We had the spinach ravioli and a veggie pizza. The spinach ravioli was tasteless, and the ravioli dough was way too thick. The pizza was a joke. Hardly any cheese, no pizza sauce. And a really strange aftertaste. I still can't place it. Absolutely disgusting. Don't come here if you like Italian food. The service was otherwise excellent.

Just sat on the patio for 20 minutes, then went inside to ask if we could be helped outside, and still no one. After 35 minutes, we left. Unfortunately.

Delicious food! Great atmosphere! And a Roman candle birthday party was easily arranged. My daughter thought that was a really nice bonus for her birthday.

The food was truly delicious, but when I had to use the restroom, the pizza did rise a bit. An average pub restroom is even cleaner.

We had delicious Italian food and drinks. The staff were very helpful and friendly, and the wine was fantastic. It's a great place to go as a couple or a group!

The food was delicious, but we had to constantly wait for service when we wanted to order drinks. We also had to wait half an hour to order dessert after calling the waiter ourselves. So, the service wasn't great.

The service was smooth and efficient. The acoustics in the restaurant are very poor. Furthermore, the five of us each had a different dish, but we didn't enjoy it at all. It lacked flavor and we experienced stomach discomfort later in the evening.

After hearing a few different stories, we decided to try Burgemeester van Napels through Social Deal. We were surprised by the quality of the food. Not everything was perfectly on point, including a mediocre bread platter and the tiramisu's somewhat watery texture. However, the pasta, pizza, and other desserts were very good. The atmosphere was great, a bit street-style, and the service was excellent. The waitresses were friendly and attentive, nothing to complain about. I'd definitely return.

We recently dined at Pizzeria Burgemeester van Napels, but unfortunately, we were disappointed. The lasagna I ordered was overcooked and therefore less flavorful. My husband's pizza was also a bit burnt on the bottom and lacked flavor. For the price, we had hoped for a bit more quality. Perhaps it was just a bad evening in the kitchen, but we would recommend La Strada in Leeuwarden to others. We've always had good experiences there.

After an hour and a half, still no food, even though people around us were getting it, we left. No apology or compensation for the drinks. We won't be coming here again, partly because of the crammed seating. Poor service.

The restaurant has the acoustics of a factory hall. Like a chicken coop. You can't hear each other at the same table. The service is friendly, but lacks clarity, which causes customers to leave early. The first soup we received was cold. The second was piping hot and quite spicy. We paid quickly and left. We'll avoid this place.

Italian restaurant (mainly pizza but also pasta) in Leeuwarden city center. No reservations, but luckily there was still room for two. The wine and coffee were excellent. The pizza was nice and hot and tasty. The Scropino was delicious.

A lovely outdoor terrace overlooking the beautiful courthouse building! The service was unfortunately not attentive; I even had to go inside to ask them to take our drinks order (even though it wasn't busy)! Such a shame! I found my salad a bit sticky, but my husband's spaghetti was good!

I'm not one to complain or write a bad review, but unfortunately, I can't be positive this time. Due to an autoimmune disease, I have to eat gluten-free. I've always dined at Burgemeester van Napels without any problems in the past. This time, however, things went wrong. When I placed my order, I clearly indicated that I had to eat gluten-free. The server indicated that there could always be a risk of traces, which I understand and accept. That's simply not always avoidable. But a little later, he returned with the message that the gluten-free pasta is prepared in the same cooking water as the regular pasta and asked if this was okay. I explained that this was absolutely unacceptable and that I'd never experienced this before. According to the server, this was always done that way. Unfortunately, there also seemed to be little willingness to consider this, because "due to the crowds," it really wasn't possible to cook the pasta in a separate pan. Only after my table companions insisted was there some assurance that the kitchen would "do their best to prepare it separately." At that point, I no longer felt taken seriously and should have decided not to eat. But hey, you don't want to be the unsociable guest at the table. Gluten-free dining is always a challenge, so quickly going somewhere else on a busy Saturday night without a reservation wasn't an option. So I did eat, but unfortunately, I ended up with a stomach ache. It's a shame it turned out this time, because I've had many good experiences here before. I hope this was just a one-off and that they'll be more vigilant in the future.

We've rarely seen such a wonderful team working together. We were seated at table 300, and the two ladies and gentleman served us wonderfully, and the food was delicious. We're fans.

We sat at the children's corner, which was perfect. The service was terrible. After fifteen minutes, my boyfriend went to the bar to ask if we could order drinks. This continued the whole time. We immediately ordered everything because I had a feeling it would continue. We were there just before 6 p.m., and the pizzas arrived at 7:15 p.m. In my opinion, that's way too long, and the place wasn't even completely full. My pizza was absolutely terrible. There was no sauce on it, and that's my own fault because I hadn't noticed. However, I do think you should emphasize this or make it clear, because it's standard practice to have pizza sauce on your pizza. My boyfriend did like his, and I'm glad he did, because we were there for his birthday. All in all, a disappointing evening, and we definitely won't be returning.

An authentic Italian restaurant (at least that's how it feels) in the heart of Leeuwarden. Delicious and with a wide variety of pizzas, served by friendly staff. Just a bit pricey (for a student).

What a terrible experience. The pizza dough was tasteless, tough, and had a nasty aftertaste. Absolutely inedible. And then they dare to charge ridiculous prices for it. Absolutely not value for money. The waitress was friendly, but that's of little use if your complaints are ignored. In short: a terrible place. A waste of time and money. We will never set foot in there again.

"Large" pizza for a large price, small results For the mere sum of €19, I got a "large" pizza—at least, according to the menu. In reality, it looked more like an oversized children's pizza. The dough? A true culinary mystery: tasteless, with an indefinable aftertaste and the texture of wet cardboard. Crispness? Only with a bit of imagination. When I expressed my disappointment, I was politely thanked for my opinion, but no further hint of financial compensation—because, of course, everyone experiences food differently (except any pizza maker with a shred of self-respect, who would undoubtedly give this pizza a big failing grade). In short: an expensive lesson in what not to do. Next time, I'll just get frozen—cheaper, better, and at least you know what you're getting. The waitress, by the way, did her job perfectly.

A very atmospheric Italian restaurant in the heart of Leeuwarden! 🍕 The pizzas are authentic Neapolitan with a light crust and pure flavors. Highly recommended: the pizza with prosciutto and burrata, and the appetizer platter with cheeses, meats, and grilled vegetables. The pastas and desserts (like the tiramisu) are also excellent. Attentive and friendly service completes the evening. A wonderful evening out in a cozy setting! 🇮🇹✨

Good menu, tasty food but above all excellent service.

Sat here on the terrace last weekend. What a drama this was. The food is great, inside there is a nice restaurant with a nice play corner for children. The terrace is very disappointing, almost no service to be seen. When I went inside to check I was told that she would be there in a minute, when I was outside she quickly walked behind me and then first started to help people who had just sat down. There were still empty glasses on our table from the previous visitors. In the end they came to our table four times (taking orders, bringing drinks, bringing food, checking if everything was to our liking). None of these four times did the service think to take those empty glasses with them. When we left more than an hour later these glasses were still on a corner of the table. If it had been super cheap, fine. But unfortunately that was not the case either...

Smooth and friendly service. Only pizzas with little to meager "topping" and a lot of dough. Pasta dish with a lot of pasta but no filling, finishing, garnish and 6 scampi I find not comfort the price of € 20, - unfortunately. Taste was good, but that was the only thing that was good.

We bestelden een lasagne en 2 pizza’s. De lasagne bleek lauw, maar wel gaar, dus niet vers maar (slecht) opgewarmd. Teruggegeven en vervolgens 15 min gewacht. De rest was al klaar met eten toen ik mijn (nog steeds niet gloeiend hete) lasagne kreeg. Beetje jammer! De 2 pizza’s waren oké maar ook niet echt bijzonder. De glazen prosecco waren wel royaal gevuld.

We eat here regularly and receive good service. A clear menu with good products. For families with young children, there is a nice play corner. In short, highly recommended.

Gezellige plaats in centrum Leeuwarden! Lijkt bij het binnenkomen niet zo groot, maar dat is anders. Ondanks de drukte werk er nog een plaatse voorzien, zonder te reserveren. Heel vriendelijk personeel en zeer behulpzaam. Prijzen van goed mee , wij namen 3x pizza en was reuzelekker met een prima deeg!

I had to wait a long time and eventually I went to get the menu myself. Besides, I had to wait half an hour for my beer and fifteen minutes later I got my food.

We had our dinner with 5 people. Getting our Peroni beers took more than 35 mins , when we asked it, the waitress told us "they are making it" ?!🤔 should not be made in Italy? 😀However pizza is not delicious for sure... Do not recommend pizza , especially four cheese pizza (Pizza quattro formaggi) was made by two types; dutch kaas and gorgonzola.

We had a delicious meal at this restaurant, we ordered an Italian toasted sandwich with Salami. I thought it was a shame that they didn't serve pizza for lunch because we were looking forward to that. But I still enjoyed the sandwich.

Basically, all the ingredients are present, good oven, beautiful ingredients, nice atmosphere and excellent service. Still disappointing. It may be that the dough did not want to cooperate at one time. But the base was a bit tough and the base completely lacked a crunch. Maybe try again soon to see if it was an exception.

We had dinner here and first of all, this is a super nice restaurant with friendly service. We had a nice young man who could talk nicely. The rest of the service was also very nice. I took a look at the kitchen and the chefs look like they know what they are doing, especially the guy with glasses seems to do it with a lot of passion. The food was very tasty, we will definitely come here more often

I strongly advise against this restaurant for vegans. The only option offered is to omit the cheese from the dishes. What was left of the pizza I recommended was a bare base and some vegetables that could hardly be penetrated with a knife and had little taste. I expected a bit more creativity.

Ate with my son, 7 years old. Had a delicious pizza. Nice staff. Good location. In the city center.

Enjoyed a 3-course social deal here for the second time. Last time we got so much from the first course that we could hardly finish the pizza. Now taken as a vegetarian starter. All in all, a good choice: excellent quality for a great price!
