We had a delicious meal. I had gluten-free with vegan cheese. So full of flavor and tasty. Cozy atmosphere and sweet, nice waitresses. And it's also nice that you pass the pizza makers on your way out, so you can thank them yourself.

A wide selection of pizzas and delicious cocktails. Very friendly staff and a lovely atmosphere! The tiramisu was delicious, the pizzas were okay.

Super food, super service, and a super atmosphere too! But they ran out of toilet paper and didn't ask for refills..!! Ask for a new wine for that 5.25 euros!!

Really cute spot with a fun interior set up. I got the veggie (totti?) pizza with additional spianata piccante. Honestly the menu was confusing - too many options that were very similar! The pizza was delicious and definitely get the extra chilli oil! I'm docking points for the pizza not being cut up (and also the steak knife being the incorrect tool to cut it! Scissors would have worked better). Also docking points for their tiramisu which... Was not tiramisu. It wasn't bad. But it wasn't tiramisu. Just a lot of whipped cream with what seemed like ginger biscoff.

I have eaten here regularly over the past few years, and also ordered pizza for takeout. Good service and delicious dishes. For the first time, I received the wrong pizza. I only noticed it upon arriving home. I called and explained the ingredients on the pizza. The lady indicated that it was indeed the wrong pizza. But because we hadn't checked the receipt and the pizza when picking it up, it was our fault. In other words, if you still want the correct pizza, you have to pay for it again. I had expected slightly different service from my favorite pizzeria…

Top restaurant! My partner and I had a delicious meal here: ravioli with pesto and a pizza pollo. In terms of service, I was struck by the enthusiasm and clear enjoyment of their work shown by the waitresses. Very positive!

We ate here a while ago. The food was very tasty, but it wasn't quite top-notch. We had made a reservation for my father's birthday a week in advance, but when we received our dinner, we discovered that we had to leave at 9 pm because the staff were holding a wine tasting (our reservation was for 7 pm). So, suddenly, we were expected to eat with a group of 10 people within 2 hours. I work in the hospitality industry myself, and this is simply impossible. At the start, we ordered a bread board which we didn't receive; eventually, we pointed out that we still needed to receive it. 2 minutes later it was on the table, but quite quickly after the bread boards, our pizzas arrived as well. In the end, we had to wait more than an hour for our pizzas. When we had only been eating for 10 minutes, we suddenly heard the wait staff saying to each other that we were about to have our last drink. We wondered how that was possible, since we had just had our food. So then we were told that they were having a wine tasting at 9 o'clock, and subsequently, they didn't even ask if we wanted dessert. When paying, we indicated that we didn't think this was acceptable, but they didn't do anything about it. It is really ridiculous that you have to leave early because the staff is having a wine tasting!

We had made a reservation for 7:00 PM, but had to wait about an hour for the food. New customers did receive their orders in the meantime. The staff was friendly, but if the place can't handle the crowds, it might be better to take on fewer customers. Otherwise, it was okay.

Was extremely busy when we arrived, however the professional and well-experienced staff were able to seat and take our order quickly. The place has airco inside, it was nice to escape the heat and eat comfortably. Food was absolutely exquisite! Big portions, good price and delicious! A lot of locals dine here too, for good reason. Must visit this restaurant when in the area

Ordered two pizzas at 46.50 each. For us, this was giving the pizzeria a second chance. Unfortunately, it was unsuccessful. A soggy, wet crust, and not very flavorful. It would behoove the management to do something about this, in keeping with Aldo's philosophy. Sincerely, Helga van Peer.

Best pizza and especially pasta of my life. The ravioli al pesto is worth going to war for: I have never eaten anything that touched me so emotionally. Delicious! They should put a statue in the village square for the chef who makes that. The wait staff was also friendly and extremely helpful, despite the crowds :-)

Message for the kitchen. No matter how busy it is, just check what the base looks like before serving....

We had a wonderful meal at Pompei! The pastas and pizzas were incredibly delicious and tasted fresh and authentic. In addition, the service was top-notch: friendly, hospitable, and very attentive. We felt welcome immediately. Definitely recommended if you want to enjoy delicious Italian food. We would love to come back again!

What a wonderful evening we had here in Leeuwarden. The atmosphere in the restaurant is very pleasant and we immediately felt welcome. Everything served was of top quality. The pasta with that creamy ball of burrata on top was a real treat to eat, in particular. The appetizers with the dipping sauce also tasted excellent. We had a delicious meal and the presentation in the glasses looked very well done. We will definitely be back here again. Highly recommended for anyone who loves good food.

A fine restaurant with very friendly service. The food is fine and certainly worth a repeat visit, but I wouldn't go out of my way for it.

Glutenfree Pizza is not recommendable. We were there in may 2026. The dough tasted and crunched like a biscuit, toppings felt a bit random and disconnected - there was no flavor to bring it all together and all in all a very dry and unsavory experience. Cheese was not to be found. My friend had a normal pizza (neopolitan) - he also said it was way too hard and crispy, at least his pizza had a better taste profile on toppings and some garlicy pestos with cheese. We sat outside at the door - the door was very loud everytime someone entered or exited. Also to pay u have to go inside.

Over the past two weeks, the service has repeatedly fallen short. After a hair in the main course, a subsequent dinner was once again handled carelessly. The coffee arrived only twenty minutes after the amaretto, even though both had been ordered together, and one of the two tiramisus was completely forgotten. The staff reacts on autopilot and walks past with a heavy heart. Given the establishment's reputation, one should expect sharper service and genuine hospitality. Although the last spaghetti with shrimp and the ambiance of the terrace are positive, the standard is not commensurate.

Had a delicious Pizza Bella Napoli, nice and efficient service, good food, truly Italian, with artichokes, anchovies, and capers, among other things. All for a fair price. Delicious.

If you want to eat a bad pizza, you should order here. Super salty!!!! Absolutely no taste and the edges and base were pitch black. We only noticed it when we got home. Never again! In terms of price, you should expect the best pizza.

The staff is very friendly and helpful. We moved tables without a problem, although the other table we got was almost in the middle of the room, making it quite overwhelming to sit there. Oh well, it was a busy day when we visited. The pizza was tasty but nothing too special, I would say. The crust was not as crunchy as I would expect from an Italian pizza. Also, this is probably just me, but I would prefer the pizza precut. Cutting it myself with a small knife is quite cumbersome with all the ingredients on top. Worth to mention that the place has a lot of pizza options – multiple pages in the menu.

Very tasty pizzas with generous toppings (the tuna pizza, at least). We had the student deal, 15 euros for a pizza and 2 drinks, absolutely fantastic! We also had a tiramisu afterwards which was very tasty. The service was also super friendly and helpful; something went wrong (wrong pizza) but that was resolved immediately. Highly recommended!

We had a super delicious meal here last night. However, it was such a letdown that we, a group of 5, were seated at a 4-person table. Even though we had reserved well in advance. It wasn't comfortable, and we barely had room for our plates. And as it gets, the seating isn't pleasant or cozy to begin with, and then you're also sitting right next to the passageway to the toilets. So I'm giving 1 star for the uncomfortable seating, and 5 stars for the rest. It's a shame the owner reacted like that. It really was a 4-person table with an extra chair placed at the head. And regarding the fact that we were sitting in the passageway and next to the toilet, you don't get a response. We don't eat next to the toilet at home either. And I believe I was otherwise very positive with my 5 stars. It wasn't meant negatively, but perhaps a tip for the future. But thanks for the feedback anyway, and good luck 👍

I've eaten here my whole life. The food is excellent and still affordable. However... the atmosphere has turned into a chicken coop with laminate flooring. I couldn't even have a normal conversation. Too crowded and noisy. Such a shame.

I don't usually indulge in pizza. But this pizza was delicious, well-flavored, and served nice and hot. There aren't many pasta options, but there are plenty of pizza options. Nice restaurant, but a little more space between some tables would be nice.

While searching for a pizzeria, we were drawn to this restaurant by its ambiance. The pizzas are prepared right at the entrance and the restaurant has a very inviting atmosphere. The staff is friendly and attentive. You don't have to wait long. We didn't have a reservation, but we were able to get in. There's plenty of seating. We enjoyed the food! We chose Penne Arrabiata and Pizza Calzone. We recommend the Grand Dessert (for two people).

We've eaten at Pompeii three times recently and we're really satisfied. The staff is friendly and the food is good. This was quite different two or three years ago. Well, it's improved, see you next time!

It's not Italian, overcooked pasta and pizza with poor-quality ingredients. The pizza is thin dough with a mix of low-quality ingredients and ham and paprika (peppers) everywhere. Overcooked pasta, heavy sauces, cream everywhere, no salt. If you're a foreigner and have never traveled, it's a good option. If you have even a halfway decent palate, don't go. Carbonara is not pasta with cream. Dedicate yourself to cooking Dutch; do you have any typical dishes?

Great food, one of the better pizzerias in Leeuwarden!

Lots of choices, and our pizzas were delicious. The staff was friendly, so definitely recommended. Only one caveat: it turns out tap water costs €2.50 per half liter (this wasn't communicated), which, in my opinion, discourages this sustainable choice (and is therefore outdated). It's also ridiculously expensive for something that flows "free" from their tap.

I had a Sarchidu pizza. It has chili peppers on it. Nice and spicy. However, a chef should be aware of how spicy it is. A pizza doesn't have to be overflowing with chili peppers. Everything in moderation. After eating three-quarters of the pizza, I removed the remaining chili peppers. Then, suddenly, I tasted pizza again instead of chili peppers. For dessert, we had a pistachio cheesecake. I'm convinced they developed and created this with passion. Unfortunately, I found it lacking in flavor. The cookie itself had most of the flavor, but the cheesecake topping lacked much. The pistachios don't belong on a cheesecake, but it was a nice try. The restaurant has a wine bar, but they could also add a wider variety of trendy beers to the menu. All in all, we had a pleasant time, but the food tasted better on previous visits. This time, 4 stars.

The pizzas were good, the tiramisu had a very different flavor than what we are used to.

We've been here many times, and Pompeii never disappoints! Delicious food, friendly service, and a great atmosphere—everything is perfect here. It's great for walk-ins (make sure to make a reservation) or for ordering a pizza to take home. Keep up the good work, we'll be back!

Probably the worst pizza in town... Hard, salty, low quality of ingredients, at a very high price. For a real italian is a big NO. Service and place however are very good.

We went out for dinner eager for a delicious pizza, but unfortunately, the dish was a bit disappointing. The crust was a bit soft and very salty, making the whole thing less flavorful than we'd hoped. The restaurant itself had a nice atmosphere and the service was friendly, but the pizza just wasn't quite right.

The food was fine, that wasn't the problem. When we tried to pay with cash, it suddenly became difficult, but after some hassle, we were able to pay with cash. It's a shame that cash payments aren't (or no longer) accepted. Since cash is legal tender, it should be possible. It's a shame, but we won't be visiting this restaurant again.

Reasonable pizza and cozy atmosphere

We were keen to eat here because my girlfriend had fond memories of the pizzas from her student days. We chose two Neapolitan pizzas: the Parma was delicious, but the Calzone Vegetariano was a bit disappointing. The staff were friendly, but sometimes felt a bit restless, pacing around tables and immediately grabbing empty bottles. We felt the tables and chairs were too close together and the music was too loud. This made the cramped downstairs space feel much more crowded than it actually was.

We still had to eat and had a very busy day. Instead of getting fries somewhere, we decided to just enjoy a nice, quiet pizza. The pizzas were delicious and arrived quickly. The restaurant looks nice and cozy. The spot by the stairs was a bit chilly because of the stairwell, but the waitress noticed this and adjusted the heating immediately. I really appreciated that! We will definitely eat here again!

Fantastic pizza. I recommend it.

I had a Bistecca ai fungi. Deliciously baked in a flavorful mushroom sauce. The other person at our table had a vegetarian lasagna, which was also delicious, and the third person had a pizza melanzane, which was also good. For dessert, I had the panna cotta. Personally, I found it bland and not very creamy, and the red fruit topping seemed like it came from a can of custard filling. Not great. The other guests at our table had the Tartufo Limoncello, which was delicious. The waitress asked if everything was alright. I mentioned that I didn't think the dessert was great, but I didn't know what to do and didn't address the comment or say anything about it. The panna cotta was disappointing, but the rest was good enough to return, and we will definitely do so next time.

Charming restaurant. Delicious red wine. I had spaghetti with salmon, very tasty and a large portion. My wife had a pizza; she was also very enthusiastic, and the pizza was very large. Very long wait times after ordering. Pizza too heavily topping, too much isn't necessarily better. Pizza crust mediocre, thin and soft in the middle. Spaghetti okay but not particularly tasty. 4 small slices of bruschetta for €8.75, that's quite a statement. Conclusion: wouldn't come back.

During my visit to Pizzeria Pompei, I didn’t expect the steak to be this impressive. What a pleasant surprise! The steak was cooked perfectly medium-rare, with a nice crispy crust and a juicy, soft interior. Just as you would hope. The creamy mushroom-cream sauce was rich and full of flavor. The presentation was modern and chic, served in a deep black bowl with fresh parsley on top. The side dishes – a fresh salad with Parmesan and croutons, and a bowl of rocket and pesto penne – gave the whole a nice balance between savory and fresh. In short: this steak at Pompei really deserves a place on your list. Not just for pizza – meat lovers will also get their money’s worth here.

Great restaurant, very good pizzas

Early June, on a weekday, I had dinner with colleagues at Pompeï. We sat on a raised platform at the back of the restaurant. A bit private, but cozy. We were early, but the restaurant was soon quite full. The service was quick and friendly. The pizzas were tasty and so were the desserts. We had a pleasant and tasty evening. I can definitely recommend Pompeï.
