Delicious pizzeria. Cozy atmosphere. Lots of steps though.

Probably the worst pizza in town... Hard, salty, low quality of ingredients, at a very high price. For a real italian is a big NO. Service and place however are very good.

We went out for dinner eager for a delicious pizza, but unfortunately, the dish was a bit disappointing. The crust was a bit soft and very salty, making the whole thing less flavorful than we'd hoped. The restaurant itself had a nice atmosphere and the service was friendly, but the pizza just wasn't quite right.

The food was fine, that wasn't the problem. When we tried to pay with cash, it suddenly became difficult, but after some hassle, we were able to pay with cash. It's a shame that cash payments aren't (or no longer) accepted. Since cash is legal tender, it should be possible. It's a shame, but we won't be visiting this restaurant again.

Reasonable pizza and cozy atmosphere

We were keen to eat here because my girlfriend had fond memories of the pizzas from her student days. We chose two Neapolitan pizzas: the Parma was delicious, but the Calzone Vegetariano was a bit disappointing. The staff were friendly, but sometimes felt a bit restless, pacing around tables and immediately grabbing empty bottles. We felt the tables and chairs were too close together and the music was too loud. This made the cramped downstairs space feel much more crowded than it actually was.

We still had to eat and had a very busy day. Instead of getting fries somewhere, we decided to just enjoy a nice, quiet pizza. The pizzas were delicious and arrived quickly. The restaurant looks nice and cozy. The spot by the stairs was a bit chilly because of the stairwell, but the waitress noticed this and adjusted the heating immediately. I really appreciated that! We will definitely eat here again!

Delicious pizza and friendly service. The only thing they need to improve is the reservation website.

This is one of the oldest pizzerias in Leeuwarden. They recently gave the place a nice makeover, but the atmosphere is still as it was in the old days: cozy and homey. The menu has changed a bit here and there, but you can still order the "classic" pizzas.

Delicious pizza, friendly service. Downstairs in the basement, it can get a bit warm and the acoustics can be tricky when there are multiple groups.

Delicious food, very friendly service, host was TOP. The four of us sat at a table downstairs which was very noisy, we were offered another table by the host which was TOP. That's how you get along with your guests, nice decoration and again the food was very good

Fantastic pizza. I recommend it.

I had a Bistecca ai fungi. Deliciously baked in a flavorful mushroom sauce. The other person at our table had a vegetarian lasagna, which was also delicious, and the third person had a pizza melanzane, which was also good. For dessert, I had the panna cotta. Personally, I found it bland and not very creamy, and the red fruit topping seemed like it came from a can of custard filling. Not great. The other guests at our table had the Tartufo Limoncello, which was delicious. The waitress asked if everything was alright. I mentioned that I didn't think the dessert was great, but I didn't know what to do and didn't address the comment or say anything about it. The panna cotta was disappointing, but the rest was good enough to return, and we will definitely do so next time.

I highly recommend the Amalfi pizza.

We ate very well, good choice of starters, pizzas (Neapolitan and classic) and desserts, we had a great time!

Charming restaurant. Delicious red wine. I had spaghetti with salmon, very tasty and a large portion. My wife had a pizza; she was also very enthusiastic, and the pizza was very large. I don't remember which pizza it was. Good coffee. Only comment: the bruschetta could have had a bit more tomato. Highly recommended. Ido Verheijen

Very good pizza. In warm weather, you can eat outside on the bridge.

Very long wait times after ordering. Pizza too heavily topping, too much isn't necessarily better. Pizza crust mediocre, thin and soft in the middle. Spaghetti okay but not particularly tasty. 4 small slices of bruschetta for €8.75, that's quite a statement. Conclusion: wouldn't come back.

Nice spot. Our waitress was smiley and friendly and attentive. The food was mediocre. I ordered the Carbonara pasta. It had very little flavour and the pasta was under cooked. The interior is very pleasant.

One of the best pizzas in Leeuwarden. If you really want a good pizza and you are willing to pay a bit more than Dominos, Pompeï is the place to go.

During my visit to Pizzeria Pompei, I didn’t expect the steak to be this impressive. What a pleasant surprise! The steak was cooked perfectly medium-rare, with a nice crispy crust and a juicy, soft interior. Just as you would hope. The creamy mushroom-cream sauce was rich and full of flavor. The presentation was modern and chic, served in a deep black bowl with fresh parsley on top. The side dishes – a fresh salad with Parmesan and croutons, and a bowl of rocket and pesto penne – gave the whole a nice balance between savory and fresh. In short: this steak at Pompei really deserves a place on your list. Not just for pizza – meat lovers will also get their money’s worth here.

Great restaurant, very good pizzas

Early June, on a weekday, I had dinner with colleagues at Pompeï. We sat on a raised platform at the back of the restaurant. A bit private, but cozy. We were early, but the restaurant was soon quite full. The service was quick and friendly. The pizzas were tasty and so were the desserts. We had a pleasant and tasty evening. I can definitely recommend Pompeï.

Cozy restaurant with friendly service and delicious food.

Last week we had a delicious meal! Because we still had a long journey home ahead of us, I filled my water bottle and then forgot about it 🙄 Luckily it was found and the service of the business even went so far that I received a beautiful package a few days later. Kudos to Pizzeria Pompeï and service ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Whether we have the pizzas & bistecca ai fungi delivered or go there for dinner, it is always super good. Very nice owners and staff, top quality dishes and a very pleasant atmosphere in the restaurant. This is also really the only pizzeria we go to or order from. You won't find better in Leeuwarden. Keep up the good work toppers 🙏.

A rustic and good atmosphere, also sufficient amount of food

Ate delicious Neapolitan pizzas. Highly recommended, I would almost go to Leeuwarden especially for it. Tiramisu was also tasty.

Had dinner at Pompei with a group of 17 people. We were given a "room" at the back/top. The advantage was that we were sitting on our own, but the disadvantage was that there was no atmosphere of an Italian pizzeria to be found. So we had a package, two drinks, a baguette with herb butter, and pizza for a fixed price. The service was excellent and I understand that having so many pizzas at the same time takes a while. The pizza itself, Paesana (without salami), was very flat in taste. After half a pizza I was a bit fed up with it, maybe a little more bacon would have been nicer? All in all, it was satisfactory and the final coffee was good.

Ate there twice, the first time great, big pizza and was full. Went there again to try pasta, small and tasteless potion so it drags down the rating. Otherwise completely satisfied with the place 👍

Lots of choices and our pizzas tasted delicious. Staff was friendly, so definitely recommended. Only thing: afterwards it turns out that tap water costs €2.50 per half liter (this was not communicated), which in my opinion de-stimulates this sustainable choice (and is therefore outdated). In addition, it is outrageously expensive for something that flows 'free' from their tap.

Been twice now in a short time. Nice restaurant, friendly and attentive staff. Well varied menu that includes not only the standard dishes. certainly not expensive for what you get. In short, if you want an evening away and want to be served at your beck and call, then this is certainly the place to be in Leeuwarden and the surrounding area.

Nice and cozy restaurant. Many small spaces so it does not look massive. The food itself is simply delicious.

Nice pizzeria on the Groentemarkt in the heart of Leeuwarden. The store itself is efficiently designed and covers two floors (perhaps a bit too cramped, but it is an old building). The open kitchen, right at the entrance, is nice. The furniture in the store is comfortable (the store is also clean and tastefully decorated). They have a nice extensive menu with mainly pizzas (but also pasta and meat dishes). My starter 'Bruchetta Parma' was truly sublime. My main course pizza 'Caprese' was also fine (but not Napoli pizza as I know from Naples 😉).

Everything took way too long. We received the starter very late, so we received our dishes much later and some of our group had to wait quite a long time for what seemed to be quite simple 'desserts'. Hence the service 3 stars. Food itself was just okay.

Always satisfied with the food. Ordered gnocchi today and the portion was very small. Called about this and they immediately brought new gnocchi and free dessert as compensation. Really neatly solved!

Lekker gegeten maar er ging van alles mis bij de bestelling. 4 van de 6 pizzas werden niet geleverd zoals besteld. Hierdoor hadden 2 wel hun geleverde pizza waardoor wij niet gezamenlijk onze pizza konden eten wat de sfeer niet te goede bracht. Ter compensatie wilden wij een desert ter compensatie maar hier wilde het restaurant niet in mee gaan. Wij konden met onze groep alleen een limoncello van het huis krijgen. Hier gingen wij niet mee akkoord en zijn gelijk vetrokken.

Ate with a group. Not everyone was served at the same time, but that seems difficult with so many pizzas. It's always a bit awkward when you get the pizza first and your closest dining companion gets it last. We had the student menu for everyone i.e. 1 pizza and 2 drinks for 15 euros. The pizzas were not generously topped, but tasty. Even my gluten-free pizza was deliciously crispy. The glasses were also well filled and therefore I thought it was really good value for money. Service was also smooth and friendly.

Come and eat at Pompeii more often and it will always be perfect. Ordered two pizzas tonight. Salami pizza was fine, but the Neapolitan pizza had way too many toppings, which made it unpalatable. Plus there was a hair in my pizza. Delivery was fast!

Pizza was delivered very quickly and was nice and hot. Very nice delivery person, and we had a really delicious meal!

Atmosphere is good, but service was rubbish this time. The order was delayed three times because something that was ordered did not arrive. Long wait, but there was time to chat with a colleague.

I was 17 when I started working there, about 40 years ago now. It was a part-time job for some extra pocket money. Aldo was the boss, his nephew Antonio (I think that was his name) just started working there as a pizza maker. When he shouted “via” another pizza was ready and we had to run to the front to pick up a pizza. The atmosphere was always good, the place was always full. I learned to eat olives and drink Sambuca there. I earned five guilders per hour, a normal rate, although I would have preferred six guilders😄. The fruit for desorbets was always freshly cut (hell of a job), the casata ice cream was delicious. I have seen how they made lasagna, in a large container and then cut portions from it. Those were good times and from what I hear it is still the best in Leeuwarden and the surrounding area. At some point, Aldo got into a relationship with one of the 19-year-old waitresses. Aldo was married at the time and had a child. I don't know how that scandal ended, because when it happened I left. Last year I ate there for the first time after 40 years, I thought it was the tastiest pizza in a long time. I also gave the five stars because of the good memories I have of my part-time job there. I will be in Leeuwarden next weekend and have reserved a table.

We have been coming here since before the corona period. The food in the restaurant was always very good, large and especially well-filled pizzas that were delicious. The ladies and gentlemen were too About 2 weeks ago we picked up two pizzas for the first time. Paid more than 38 euros, but what a disappointment... Rock hard thin bottom that you could almost see through. Very sparsely invested. Unfortunately we won't be back.

Been three times already, starters are delicious. The prawns and bruschetta are recommended! A bread board is a bit pricey for what you get, so I would rather order a more varied starter. The pastas here are absolutely delicious, the pizzas are more basic. I would definitely come back here for pasta. There is a warm, cozy atmosphere here. The staff was very friendly the first 2 times, but the 3rd time we came by they had not noted our name on the reservation and they were warm and it came across as a bit giggly. For the rest it's really great. Regularly asked for drinks and service with a smile for the rest. Price-quality ratio is also absolutely good! Twenty euros spent for a main course + drink.

We were done with the fast food pizzas from American "look a like's" And had 2 delivered from Pompei. What a party!! We wanted a topping that was not selectable, but this was stated in the description. Absolutely great! (You also don't have to pay extra afterwards ;) ) You taste delicious, honest food, which is certainly a reason for us to order again! Never again an NYP for us.

What a surprising pizzeria this was. Upon entering you will immediately see a small kitchen with the chef on the left. where you think, well, I don't know if he can only serve one group at a time, but that went great. We ate at the same time. Take the stairs up into the restaurant and then another staircase on the left and there is a spacious part of the restaurant. Very friendly staff and delicious food, highly recommended.

Delicious food. The store looks narrow from the outside but runs very deep. The service was adequate, fast and friendly and the pizza and pasta were a good portion, very fresh and tasty.

Together we enjoyed a nice dinner at pizzeria Pompeï. The Campagnola pizza was very tasty. Dolce-🍧 vanilla ice cream, with caramel and white chocolate 😋 Atmospheric new location, and excellent friendly service from Rianne.

Delicious food in an attractive restaurant. It took a long time before we received our bruchattas. People who came in later got their pizza before we got our starter. Very tasty indeed. Then 2 pizzas were brought where only 1 had been ordered. Obviously not a big deal, but felt after it Previous long waits were annoying because the ordered pizza was first taken back to the kitchen. The pizza we ordered was tasty. I would go back because of the ambiance and quality of the food. But I hope I don't have to wait as long for a starter.

The best pizzeria in Leeuwarden

SUPER DELICIOUS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

The food here is always delicious, but yesterday we were not completely satisfied. The topping of the pizzas is too much in the middle, and a small mistake was made on one of the pizzas. The biggest problem, however, was the breadboard. Previously you only got delicious pizza bread here, but nowadays some of it has been replaced by boring baguette. You also no longer get taped ones. So a disappointment. The service was excellent, and the decoration in the "new" part was beautiful.

The restaurant surprises with an endless selection of pizzas, but also pasta. The prices are Dutch high, but the dough is crispy and the toppings are lush. The service is attentive and even though the store is large and was very busy, the waiting time was reasonable and the service was competent and attentive. We had to order the kids menu twice because it tasted so fantastic. That means something. Wine connoisseurs should better order beer ;) Dutch wine tastes do not always suit the discerning palate, especially when it comes to dry wines. In summer, it's best to make a reservation in the evening or sit outside on the canal.

The pizzas were tasty and smelled really good. The waitresses were very friendly and it was worth a visit here.

Couldn't have been more fantastic

Pizzas just as tasty as my homemade pizza. Friendly staff. Forgot to bring drinks. The floor in the new space moved as people walked by.

De tent zat behoorlijk vol, toch bleef de bediening vlot en vriendelijk. Lekkere pasta en pizza. Onze tieners waren tevreden.
