A really cozy place in Amsterdam. The food is fresh, well-seasoned, and you can tell it's cooked with love. The service is friendly and relaxed—exactly what you'd want in this kind of atmosphere. Overall, a lovely place to enjoy a good meal in peace and feel comfortable. Highly recommended.

Simply the best restaurant in Amsterdam !

Very poor service at the Buurtecafe De Tros on Linnaeusstraat 63H, 1093 Amsterdam, Netherlands. We sat outside and ordered a couple of beers which came in cans. The menu is a tiny folded piece of A4 which is illegible unless you use a magnifying app on your phone. So after deciphering it we ordered a starter of mushrooms and Tuna tataki. Mains of monkfish and Entrecôte were also ordered at the same time. The starter arrived after about 20 minutes and we ordered a bottle of white wine, This eventually came another 15 minutes later. The starters were ok. We waited…. and waited…. and waited…. The waitress came to remove the starter dishes. She then asked us do we want dessert!!! What??? We reminded her we haven’t had the main course yet. Oh she said and wandered off. In the meantime as we were outside in the depths of a cold December we were under infrared lamps which proceeded to burn heads but not warm anything else. We swapped head gear so we could take turns in not being cremated at the head. In the meantime hands were cold and backs were cold but putting coats on and putting hands in pockets worked. We waited…. and waited…. and waited … To the extent we had almost given up and nearly asked for the bill. The mains arrived! But oh dear not good. The monkfish was swimming in grease and unappetising. The entrecôte whilst cooked medium rare (acceptable) was surrounded by deep fried onions and deep fried small potatoes. Just like the picture on the website as I found out the next day. We ate and eventually the waitress came back and asked was it good? My wife said no it was swimming in grease and oil. The waitress said oh and wandered off. Eventually we caught her attention to summon the bill. We paid and made off. This was a Tuesday at 6 to 7:45 PM on an unremarkable day in early December. Please take note and up your game. You might also like to submit this premises on Tripadvisor and stop hiding behind a previous restaurant.

The atmosphere was cozy and the place naturally gave good vibes. The food was amazing and the service was outstanding. Really recommend the lasagna as a starter and the entrecôte for the main, they were both 10/10! Also fantastic wine selection.

The staff was so welcoming unlike most Dutch people! They were super nice and local and the food came quickly and was INSANE

Such a lovely experience at Buurtcafe De Tros. Gezellig doesn’t even cover it. The food is delicious. The staff are attentive, friendly and patient. And the vibe is relaxed and elevated at the same time.

The mussels and the entrecote with potatoes came with absolutely delicious sauces. The smash burger was also very good. The brioche bun was a tad small and too sweet for my taste, but everything else was excellent. The wines were also good. We'll be back.

Honest food, would come back to Amsterdam just to go here. Everything was perfect. Give me more Entrecôte in my life! The smash burger was the best I’ve tried.

Amazing place, atmosphere and staff! Stunning food (the signature burger is a must, just as the Brioche dessert)! Wide range of options for wine as well. De Tros stays surprisingly good, this is not just another ‘small plate’ place. Even my extremely picky boyfriend was excited from beginning to end. Well done!

Dinner at Buurtcafé de Tros. Very mid experience, unlike other reviews, sadly. Lasagna and mushrooms for starters were nice, tuna was mediocre. We waited 1hr between starters and mains, and were even asked to move to either the bar or outside because our reservation slot was ending... Even before we received our mains. They announced our timeslot when we were sat down, but I think it's unreasonable and inhospitable to ask us to change places if your own pacing is off. We didn't even receive an apology. The mains weren't bad, but also nothing that special (entrecote, smash burger, monk fish). Definitely not worth the price. When I paid I brought up that we felt rushed by the staff during our meal. Sadly, they just went into defensive mode... I understood that there was a new upcoming reservation, but this was not how we'd have liked to spent a nice evening out.

Don’t go here, they are not kind and don’t say sorry. They have a time slot and tell you you have to leave at a certain time, but then don’t make the food on time. They ask you to move to the bar or outside which is ridiculous if they didn’t even serve the main course yet. Improve your timing in the kitchen, and tell your waiters to be nicer to your guests. You lost a customer.

This restaurant was delicious. The burger was phenomenal, the mussels were tasty, and the bread warm and fluffy. We also got the “mud” dessert and it was in fact heavenly. The place was packed but the servers and waiters were unbelievably friendly and welcoming. We enjoyed the food and atmosphere quite a bit.

Came here for my birthday dinner, really cozy restaurant that was packed on a Wednesday evening! The waitress was friendly and took our order quickly but I’m not sure if she forgot to input our order or it was just busy because after over an hour no food had arrived. I asked another server about it and then thankfully the food arrived quickly, and they gave us free dessert because of the wait. The lasagna and steak were super delicious and definitely the standouts of the menu! The tuna tataki and fish of the day were just okay but not as special. I’d return to try the smash burger as I also heard it’s amazing. Nice date night spot

Yesterday I celebrated my birthday at Tros with 10 friends. We had such a great time! The food was absolutely delicious, and the staff were so friendly! A fantastic evening. ❤️

Cozy ambience and quick service. I didn’t expect lasagna to be on the menu here but it was excellent, especially the cacio e pepe sauce. Heavenly mud was quite good too with the dark Dutch cherries.

Expectations exceeded! These are the kind of places that make dining out worthwhile. Friendly service, a cozy atmosphere, and the food... finger-licking good! An absolute must for anyone in the area. They also have an extensive wine list.

been here twice, love everything about this place. definitely one of my favourites in amsterdam- good food and drinks, vibes and people! wide variety of wines from all over europe, absolutely delectable dishes. must try the sourdough bread with delicious whipped butter, and you definitely have to try the mussels, fish of the day, smashburger, and especially the carpaccio.

Absolute 10/10 smash burger. Life changing standard. Service was top tier, accommodating and friendly. Heaters also in outdoor area were a nice touch. Great vibe well worth a visit!

We ordered the the tempura, the fish from the day with potatoes and bisque, entrecot and lasagne (really special the caccio and pepper foam). Service is outstanding, specially in Amsterdam. Enough waiters to serve on time the food, smiling and with the perfect timing to ask for something else if needed. The manager also has everything under control and all works perfect. The high quality of the food was superb. We will come back for sure.

Our third time, and they once again exceeded our expectations; every bite makes you think, "Wow!" It's rare that repeat dining is so surprisingly delicious and good, and I don't know why, but we're happy with it. We'll definitely be back next week.

This is our second time here. So I'll write this review comparing the two times I've been there, the first time was last year. The only thing I remember eating then was the baby potatoes. It was made with an unbelievable crunchiness. Then we went back a year later because we were craving potatoes, this time the potatoes were not crispy at all, even though they were boiled and fried. This time the potatoes were a disappointment (: I give 5* for the overall experience, I think the place is run by attentive people, but I think the food is a little above average in terms of flavor. The wines are very delicious, and the staff is very polite and attentive, and I think the service is very fast compared to Amsterdam.

Oh man, what a good dinner! We had two nights in Amsterdam and this meal was absolutely awesome. We were happy to go a bit further away from the really touristy areas to have something really vibey with amazing food. The wine selection was also great! Everyone who worked there was super cool and chill, took their time to explain the menu and answer questions, and ensured we had a wonderful experience. Definitely would highly recommend and will be at the top of my list next time I’m in AMS

Classic Amsterdam fare nowadays: small plates, natural wines, and a token smash burger on the menu. It’s got that cooler than thou feel to it, which sometimes comes across as condescending, but the servers were attentive and the food was good. The space itself is beautiful and the fact that the terrace gets the afternoon sun is a big plus.

Buurtcafé De Troos has a really nice atmosphere and good vibe, perfect for a relaxed meal or a casual evening out. The food is tasty and well-prepared; I can definitely recommend the lasagna as a starter! That said, the portions are on the smaller side, and the prices are a bit high for what you get. Still, worth a visit if you’re looking for quality food in a cozy setting.

Informal restaurant with a small menu. There were five of us, so we could try everything, and everything was delicious and beautifully presented. The staff were very friendly. I understand why it's a very popular restaurant.

We love these kinds of gems. Despite their popularity, we've always managed to make a reservation or dine spontaneously. We do go early, though, as we usually have kids. Must-eats include the burger, the tartare, the lasagna, the spinach saade, and the pain perdu for dessert—it's unreal! I want to check off even more next time, because damn, this was good!

Great food. Happy to have warm sour dough bread, and the whipped butter is a nice touch. We tried the burger which is surreal, highly recommend it, also, the mussels were delicious, at the end we tried the dessert with the brioche french toast. Delicious food, well done! Service wasn’t the fastest but all of them were friendly, which makes the atmosphere relaxed, and they also recommended nice dishes from the menu. I will definitely repeat, food like this in Amsterdam is not the easiest to find among all the options.

We came here with high expectations, thanks to the many positive comments about Buurtcafé De Tros on social media. I can only say that the praise is entirely justified. For me, everything was perfect: the dishes were classic but more interesting in terms of presentation and flavor profile; there was a pleasant local atmosphere; the service was attentive and flexible; and the price was reasonable. Highly recommended! Everything tasted good, but for me, the highlights were the mussels (not pictured) and the lasagna. The orange wine we ordered (Pepin) was also very good.

We had a very happy dining experience here. Waiters are very nice. And thanks for putting a sparkler on the dessert for celebrating my husband’s birthday.

Best meal of my life. I have wanted to visit this restaurant for the longest time and it did not disappoint. The smashburger was the best burger I ever had. The steak and the lasagne were also to die for. The brioche dessert was a great ending to a wonderful meal. They even comped our olives and gave us a lollipop. Great food, great staff, great atmosphere. Cannot recommend enough.

This is one of my favorite spots in town since I love the wine selection and the food options. But like what happened to the mussels? It was so good before but now… it’s like any other. :/

I was at De Tros today and I found it a horrible experience. How many people can I put so close together that it ruins the experience for everyone. Couldn't hear my company anymore. Staff very rude.

One of my favorite meals in Amsterdam - lovely outdoor seating, friendly service, and the food - so good! Had fried enoki mushrooms, tuna tataki, and entrecôte steak - all made superbly with creative ingredients and generous portions. Hope to come back.

Loved everything about this place! The food was delicious. I recommend trying different stuff on the menu not just the burger. My highlight was the catch of the day: Salmon with babypotatos and a delicious miso sauce.

Food was really good as usual. Also love the atmosphere. Unfortunately the service was very far below par. We were seated at a maybe 3 person table with 5 people. Could literally not fit legs under the table. we were able to move after half an hour. Then we were given 1 menu for 5 people and when asked for more menus treated like it was a weird question. Also the menus were dirty and folded up in the server’s pocket. Missed part of the order twice. Did not ask if we would like something more to drink. We expressly said that we were sharing but the dishes were just thrown on the table in front of people, not in the middle of the table. Overall just not at all a welcoming experience, more made to feel we should feel ‘lucky’ that we were ‘allowed’ to eat there. I love the food and atmosphere inside but doubt we’ll come back

What a wonderful evening at the neighborhood cafe "De Tros". It is much more than a neighborhood cafe! The place was great - the atmosphere was great - about the food nothing but g o d s. Really enjoyed the flavors - the sauces with miso !!! And thanks for the special dessert with vanilla ice cream and rhubarb. You made my day!

This place was wonderful! We got their Smash Burger, and although it was on the starters list, it was more than enough. The potatoes were also nice, however a bit unseasoned in my opinion. The atmosphere was great and felt very local, and the waiters were lovely and friendly. It is a little pricy but not too crazy, and that is to be expected in Amsterdam. Will definitely be visiting again!

I’ve been recommended this restaurant so much through social media and from people who live in Amsterdam. The food was delicious, but the service truly let it down. It took us so long to get the menu, and to order a drinks. I ordered a Coke 0 and he gave me a regular Coke which is fine but continued to be a series of events. We asked for tap water and we never received it. Ordered lasagna and never came. Asked for the dessert menu and never came as well so we decided to get the bill. Took 15 mins to get the bill and we continued to wait over 20 minutes to pay and ended up paying at the bar. Truly disappointing experience. If you do go, a must is their burger, absolutely unreal!

Always an amazing time. Terrace is perfect and interior is really nice as well. Prices are okay compared to the rest of Amsterdam. Also nice vegetarian options. Always a nice service. Only thing is 6€ for sourdough and butter feels a bit too expensive (especially for whipped butter which uses even less quantity)

We had a delicious dinner there today and drank some red wine which recommended by a staff. The Entrecôte was a bit overcooked which influenced the texture; Lasagna and Brioche Perdue were super delicious. However, when we finished our dessert and didn't order anything else, one of the staff asked us to pay quite soon(and leave I supposed). It was not a pleasant experience.

We just had dinner there and the food and service were excellent! I had salmon on miso butter sauce, came with potatoes and asparagus… uhmmm yummy! And my boyfriend had a delicious smash hamburger. Strongly recommend, the service was good and fast.

This is a must go... the food is excellent, the service is great, the location also. Prices are a little too high for the portions (they are really small), and their usp wine, orange wine from the tap is absolutely great, but also a little too expensive. Nevertheless a must go experience

The food is consistently great. We have had dinner multiple times there, all dishes are exceptionally made and taste special without making it too complicated. The wine selection is also great. I would like more dessert choice but thats maybe on me.

What a wonderful experience at Buurtcafé De Tros! We started with fresh sourdough bread with homemade butter - simple but incredibly tasty. As a starter we had the lasagna with pecorino foam sauce: refined, light and perfectly balanced. Then we enjoyed the burgers, which were truly delicious: juicy, full of flavor and beautifully presented. The service was extremely friendly and created a relaxed atmosphere. All in all a great evening - I'll definitely be back!

We had a lovely dinner in this super cute restaurant. 10/10 for everything: relaxed atmosphere with a cool playlist, great decoration with indirect lights (many candles) to make it even more cozier, DELICIOUS and creative plates (even the bread was incredibly good) and a very attentive and efficient service. Would love to have a place like this in Brussels!

We had the lasagna and tuna tataki with some bread, these were super tasty! But the sirloin steak was very disappointing. Very dry unfortunately, it didn't taste like super good quality meat. Given the fact that they only have three main courses on the menu, I would not recommend eating here. Portions were also modestly sized. The service was also okay, but for our part a bit too intensive or there was not good communication, so the same question was repeatedly asked to us minutes after each other by different members of the service, so at a certain point you think: no, we have already ordered or are still waiting for something or don't need anything at the moment, can I have a quiet dinner.

Cozy place with good food, although the term 'local café' may be a bit misleading—the prices are on the high side (for example €6 for three slices of bread, although it was very good bread, with butter and possibly olive oil and salt on request). We were there for lunch and had bread as a starter, vegetarian lasagna, fish of the day and the eggplant: all highly recommended. There are two vegetarian options, one of which is vegan dish (the eggplant), unfortunately vegetarian dishes cannot be adapted to vegan. In a city like Amsterdam this could be a bit better. All in all: nice atmosphere, good food, but not the most accessible neighborhood prices.

Ticks everything I like about a restaurant 1. Cosy (candles at night and a small space) 2. Small well constructed menu 3. No fancy plating. Just good comfort food. 4. Food is cooked to perfection. Especially their meats

I usually avoid leaving negative reviews, but our recent experience was truly disappointing. The waiter was not only rude but went as far as to mock us for 'being slow' when we requested just a couple of extra minutes to decide on our order. Dining out should be about more than just the food—it's also about receiving attentive service and enjoying a pleasant evening. For a bill of 140 euros, a basic standard of respectful service should be expected.

Great food, great atmosphere— all around it felt like the spot to east of the city. Quiet neighborhood but it’s buzzing inside. We got a few starters and a few mains. I would highly recommend the lasagne, smash burger and eggplant. Great spot.

One of my favourite places in Amsterdam!!!Very cute & cosy, especially in the evening when they light the candles. The food is amazing - small portions, but everything is 10/10 and not too sophisticated, which I prefer. The wine list is also very diverse. Sometimes it can feel too crammed, so wouldn’t recommend indoor seating for big groups, but for 2-4 it’s perfect!!!

We only had a quick drink here because unfortunately there was no more availability for dinner. Reservations seem to be a must here (at least during the weekend). Just a shout-out to the super nice staff who were very attentive and cheerful! The atmosphere and decoration are also beautiful. I hope we have more luck next time and can try the menu here.

We were lucky to find this lovely cafe near Vondelpark. We went there for breakfast and lunch two days running because it was so nice. Everything made to order and service is great.

The menu is simple, but the food is surprisingly well executed. Great atmosphere and friendly service make your evening complete. Save room for the brioche perdue 😋
