Café 1640 Goed eten, Goed doen in Hoge Zijde

Stopped here for lunch today during my bike ride. Delicious carpaccio sandwich and what a great iced coffee. The service was also very friendly. I'm already looking forward to my next bike ride so I can pass through here again.

Had a wonderful high tea here with delicious food. First savory then sweet. There is a very pleasant atmosphere here. Operation by staff with disabilities. This also creates a wonderful atmosphere. The building dates from 1640 and is the oldest building in Alphen aan de Rijn. This is highly recommended for a meal.

We stumbled upon this place for lunch today. We had a pulled chicken pita, a classic grilled cheese sandwich, and two coffees, all for almost €26. Those are pretty steep prices, I'm not sure why. The quality was otherwise fine, but in my opinion, way too expensive!

Sometimes I go there to work or read. Nice atmosphere and I enjoy the guidance and the people who provide day care. It also shows me a good mirror of the world. I experience openness, directness, genuineness of the people here. Something that I hardly see in the world of being absorbed in everything and experience as limited :-D

What a nice place, just ordered coffee with an Alphenaartje, delicious and for that combination it is not bad at all to cycle a bit, call it Omfietskoffie. Everything good, nice people, I will definitely come back.

Went for lunch with family (15 people), they were well helped. Food was good, took a little longer to be served. The group size was the cause of this. But everyone got their food pretty much right away.

High tea was a bit disappointing. The profiterole was still frozen and the tompouce was not fresh either. For the price of the high tea I did not expect this. I think lunch would be highly recommended, but I'll have a high tea somewhere else next time
