Warm, cozy, inviting atmosphere with delectable food - we loved every bit of our experience here. Not to mention our server Elfi, who was an absolute delight. Music was great and it wasn't too noisy or too quiet. We might come back another of our quick four nights in Amsterdam because we enjoyed our experience here so much!!

Each and every time 10/10. Food was once again amazing, the vibes were ON, wine =flowing and Alexis our waiter knew what he was doing! He made our experience 10x better with how fun and lovely he was.

Tasty food, extensive wine list, friendly service, but a bit rushed.

Foodwise, we were pretty disappointed. We had the 5 course menu. The soup (1st dish) was cold (tasty though), the main dish (redfish) was not tasty at all. Love the atmosphere, service was good, but wouldn’t come back here just because of the food.

A wonderful atmosphere for a romantic candlelight dinner and a truly excellent wine list. Some of the portions were a bit too generous for our taste, but better that than too little :)

Food might be great (even though the service is poor and chaotic), but refusing cash is pure nonsense. Not everyone wants banks tracking and flagging every meal and sip. Privacy is a right, not a crime! Stop feeding the cashless madness. Privacy apparently isn’t on the menu in Amsterdam anymore and that's insane! At least Berlin, Milan, Prague, San Sebastian and others still understand what freedom means...

We dined with three people tonight. The sharing dishes were too small for one person, let alone for three. The quality was mediocre, and the dessert we'd chosen was out of stock. The wines were mediocre. The price-quality ratio (darn expensive) was terrible! We eat out in Amsterdam on average twice a week (for 15 years now). This was a big fail!

Super cute place, very friendly service, and the food was truly delicious!! The only downside is the time slot, which means the five courses are served quite quickly, making it feel a bit rushed. Other than that, highly recommended.

We discovered Café Binnenvisser through Otto Berlin and ended up having a really lovely evening. The concept is super nice a warm, welcoming atmosphere where hours just seem to pass by without noticing. For starters we had olives, oysters with jalapeño and cucumber, bread with butter, Hokkaido pumpkin with sheep cheese, sage mixed mushrooms with egg yolk and Szechuan, and a steak tartare with ceps and ramson capers. Every dish was carefully presented, and the flavors felt both balanced and exciting. For mains, we went with the kohlrabi with chili de ancho, anise mushroom and the chicken moutarde with La Ratte potatoes and chives. our desserts included chocolate mousse with condensed milk and hazelnuts, as well as kombu ice cream with elderflower and blackberries. These, however, didn’t quite convince us as much as the other courses. The wine selection was fantastic – thoughtful pairings and a great variety – and the beers were just as enjoyable. Food presentation added another layer to the experience, which made it feel special. The only downside was that the service took longer at times, and the desserts could be improved. Still, overall we would definitely come back and highly recommend it. reserving a table is recommended and the prices are very fair! thanks for the nice evening

This is a lovely wine bar in Amsterdam and should definitely be on any foodies list to try great wine with some tasty small plates. The wine was delicious - I would recommend any of the Orange, especially the mulatscak. The food was good but not outstanding. We had the bread from Louf (the related bakery next door), the sam marzano tomato’s and burrata, the leak vinaigrette and the mustard chicken. The tomato/ burrata dish was very impressive with a complex smokey flavour that paired extremely well with the bread. The leek and chicken dish was good but were nothing special. I saw some reviews about the long waits in between dishes. This is true however in my opinion is not a shortcoming as it allows you to fully appreciate the dishes with your wine which is the central focus of the venue. The ambience is relaxed but sophisticated and the service was friendly and helpful. Overall I had a great experience here and would return.

Update - after leaving the review i received a call from them and they said they would leave a voucher for the amount we were overcharged for at their bakery loof. When I went to the bakery, there was nothing left, so lowering my rating to a one star after the second time they mess up. Feedback: i love the food and the atmosphere here. however last nights experience was unfortunately a bit disappointing due to poor service. even though the bar was empty, we were first denied a seat there. we could only get a seat after making a reservation for the bar online, while at the restaurant. We were also overcharged for our bill, and unfortunately nothing was done to make up for it except for offering many 20c coins.

Very pricy for what you get. The menu even though paid separately is shared in ways that is not properly communicated to the customer. The food is very average and does not much the price.

Came here on a beautiful summer day, and we were seated outside on their gorgeous terrace (recommend you reserve). We got the burrata starter, which was quite decent. We also had the leak vinaigrette - peas dish, which was more like 2 dishes in 1 that did not have much chemistry with each other. Our entrée, the chicken moutarde, was fine — good but nothing special. We had a scoop of ice cream (forgot the flavor) with granola under as dessert. Overall, the food was okay, but I wouldn't urge anyone to come here to try the food. What truly undermined our experience here, however, were the wait times and service. First, the wait time — we waited an hour between the burrata and the peas, and the ANOTHER HOUR between that the entrée. We had to alert the waiters multiple times. Their explanation was that dishes not belonging to the chef's menu would take longer because the kitchen prioritizes the orders belonging to the chef's menu. Which is... honestly just a terrible excuse? Having such long periods in between dishes really undermines the dining experience. Because their outdoor seating is quite far from the indoor restaurant space, you can't catch the attention of a waiter. You can only catch them if they've already made their way to the outdoor area to serve someone, and then they forget to check on you, but you also don't want to say something to grab their attention because that's rude etc etc. It's just a bad vibe, especially if you've been waiting 2 hours for your food.

Absolute must. This place is a gem. Hands down the best meal we've had in Europe on our trip. A bit pricey but well worth it.

We had dinner here this evening with the two of us and it was a very nice experience! Service was great, just friendly, casual and no bs. Server recommended a nice wine and the 5 course menu. Food was very good, nice variations in flavours and good portions ( I’m a big eater ) Wines were different than usual but we both liked it. We will be back here :)

The restaurant vibe is amazing, people are nice. We tried the 5 courses chef menu, the starters are ok, cold soup was nice, other sharing dishes with mixed of greens and cheese. but started the from the main course ( my family pick the chicken and I ordered the Vegan foam dish) taste strangely between sweet/ savory, too much flavors in one dish. its very confusing and feel like the chef is trying too hard to put all the ingredients in one dish. Its like question in our head: what is going on here!!! The desserts chocolate ice-cream is weirdly with too much of salt and oil…. It has totally ruined the taste. This tasting menu is rate and cost too high for the quality of food.

10€ per shot is wild, ruined the whole dining experience. Other restaurants actually offer these to clients as a thank you after a nice meal (not that I expected this), but you instead decided to increase our bill by 25% for 4 shots. First and last, good luck.

Best restaurant in Amsterdam. Everytime I eat here I am served with excititin new tastes. Love it. Service is the best in the city. Praise for our curly haired waitress: she was warm, welcoming, experienced and gave us perfect suggestions about what to order! Ten out of ten!

We had a really disappointing experience here. When we arrived, no one greeted us until we started walking in ourselves. The hostess finally came over and told us the kitchen was closing in 15 minutes but said there was space for us without a reservation. She asked us to look over the menu and said she'd be back to seat us, then never returned. When she finally did, instead of helping us, she suggested we try a diner nearby that might be "more to our liking." It was dismissive and honestly insulting. As we were leaving, she laughed with her coworkers and said, "Yeah, they were looking for food." Completely unprofessional and disrespectful. Would not recommend this place to anyone. There are plenty of restaurants nearby that treat their guests with basic courtesy. This is not one of them.

Er zijn slechts twee hoofdmaaltijden. Een met kip en een met koolrabi. Het stukje kipfilet was gaar, tjongejonge! en vergezeld van 2 blaadjes rucola en 2 kruisbessen met veel saus; verder niets. Na een fles Bourgogne te hebben besteld, kregen wij een geopende fles zonder etiket. Op onze vraag aan de overigens vriendelijke bediende waarom er geen etiket op de fles was hebben wij uiteindelijk geen antwoord gekregen. Kortom: wat ons betreft nooit meer Binnenvisser.

Lovely spot with outdoor seating, perfect for summer. Had a lovely atmospheric dinner with delicious food and good wine. Service was attentive and helpful. Highly recommend the gazpacho on a hot day.

Food was absolutely delicious! Had the 5 course and it was genuinely so good. However, booked for 9pm and waited around till 9;15 to get seated. And then didn't get a menu for half an hour, and then didn't get food until 10, with each course taking a long time to come out. We were hungry though, and it was far too busy for the two lovely waitresses in my opinion. Everything else great though :) very cool vibe and aesthetic too

What a great start to our weekend! We dropped in without a reservation, but a table was arranged for us at the last minute, great service. The service was friendly, knowledgeable and personal. The wines were carefully selected and recommended, and matched the food perfectly. And the food? Delicious. Really a place to recommend. We will definitely be back soon!

I usually really enjoy this place and have had great experiences in the past, but last night’s Greek evening was a big letdown. The dishes were underwhelming, basic and very small portions. While the wine selection and service were both good, it's disappointing to spend €120 (even with a discount) and still leave hungry. We actually skipped dessert after seeing how small and unimpressive the Greek yogurt finale looked. On the way home, we ended up stopping at a burger bar just to feel like we’d had a proper meal... genuinely!

Disappointing, came for a Greek inspired dinner (in the presence of Greeks who were in our company). Unfortunately nothing of the Greek touch tasted and typical Amsterdam: micro portions, little taste and way too expensive to be hungry afterwards.

I’ve been going to Binnenvisser for years. Always have a great time. I miss their fritters though and wish so bad they’d bring them back. I don’t really enjoy the food anymore, but the snacks are good. I go there for the natural wines and the friendly service and the super cozy atmosphere / vibes. I do wish they wouldn’t make you book a 5 course, it’s just not worth it.

Fantastic cuisine and attractive restaurant! Highly recommended. One star less because the service was mainly absent. No introduction to the menu, often asking for drinks yourself. This put a bit of a negative atmosphere on the evening. We will go back again because this was probably an incident.

The atmosphere is superb, verry Amsterdam - pretentious. Moody, cozy, dim lighting and candles. The food (the ones I got at least) was good, including a tomato soup, a white asparagus and potatoes with miso and chicken liver pate. The biggest let down is the pace and service. Wait long between each courses (30min +). Ended up leaving without having the last 2 mains. The service is hard to find/signal. Perhaps its simply because they are understaffed. However, when I shared my feedback of the slow food service, the waiter simply said this is how it goes here. I know the Dutch are stereotypically direct but that is just simply indifference, borderline ignorance.

Not worth your money or time Vibe is aesthetic, but not worth paying €120 for food AND drinks for two people, and leaving the restaurant completely unsatisfied and disappointed. The portions are very small for what you pay, and they don’t have a main dish with fish, only meat or veg option. It’s also quite cramped, they literally try to fit guests on every surface of the restaurant. Don’t know why and how they have so many good reviews…

Cafe Binnenvisser undersells this place. It’s a proper five course set menu hipperati Amsterdam restaurant. Its understated interior makes it a beloved place to sit and be seen amongst the upper crust of vanMoof Amsterdam. And the hype is real. The dishes were each excellent and well balanced. The atmosphere instead felt spacious and special. The duck and the dessert were real high lights as was the leak soup (yes really) One thing that was missing was a good sommelier or wine pairing with the dinner. They only do natural wines, and the ones we tried were not great. The music was also too loud for our liking but that’s apparently their “house style” and we all know the Dutch like to “house” so we just accepted that as par for the course. Could imagine coming back here in a different season to see what they did with the menu, but will be sticking to the beer and perhaps brining some earplugs The cocktails were excellent and it was fun to be in a building that resembled the flat iron in New York, except only three stories. Ask for the seat by the window and make sure to make a reservation ahead of time—binnenvisser wont disappoint

The chef had a fetisj for miso and other concentrated flavours that was so overpowering it made my eyes water. The little bowl of onion consomme could easily flavoured 3 liters of soup. And the chocolate mousse was put on top of a spoonful of raw miso, it was very unpleasant. The vegetarian main was very well made though.

Good tasting menu, but feels a bit pretentious, attempting flavors beyond their capability. The duck is memorable. Excellent wine. Clean service but cheap, counter overcrowded, space not managed properly. They don’t accept cash, it wasn’t clearly communicated at the entrance. The kid at the counter looked at me like an outcast for offering cash, which was embarrassing. Note for the property: it’s not legal to refuse cash if not clearly communicated and for a valid reason. According to EU law and a 2021 European Court of Justice ruling, euro cash has legal tender status, which generally entails mandatory acceptance at full face value.

Want to be upfront and say that 3 stars means it's alright but not great. Not saying this restaurant is terrible! That said....Wanted to like this place but honestly it's a very average restaurant. Food is ok but below the standard you'd expect from the price. Wine is only natural wines and pretty extreme - normally like them but these were too much. Lastly the service - it took a really long time for food to arrive. A shame - have the feedback to the waitress as want small businesses to succeed but was met with a blank stare and she walked off.

We have ordered a 5-course menu. Starters included one soup and 2 shareable dishes, wouldn’t say that I was impressed, they were all plain and very light, especially the beetroot salad with the chunks of a cooked beetroot. Main course(a duck) and dessert were very nice, two dishes that we really enjoyed from the whole set. Definitely would have skipped the starters. They also have a big natural wine selection which is really nice.

The food was delicious! However, there was some confusion about the portions; We had both opted for a 5-course menu and the second and third courses turned out to be 'shared dining', a dish that you had to share with the second person. We thought the quantity was small for that amount of money. In addition, the service was mediocre. We were not once asked if we enjoyed it and when paying, the employee put the card machine on the table and walked away. The sommelier did a good job by the way! But all in all, not quite what we expected from such a well-regarded restaurant.

What a taste sensation, amazing what the kitchen has managed to put on the table here. Very nice combination between vegetables and taste. Brussels sprouts, beets, oysters, broth, highly flavored dessert. Star level!! The main course Guinea fowl was also tender and seasoned just right. The combination here with the vegetables made it complete, class. Our 5 course menu was great, highly recommended. The staff is attentive and knows how to present it very well, which means that we will definitely come back here. Real Amsterdam audience in the shop, nice mix, location in the hippest neighborhood of Amsterdam, it's complete. Fantastic !

Ate here last night, wonderful evening. The 5-course menu is highly recommended. Very tasty dishes that you eat partly with your dining companion and partly of your own choice. Good portions, tasty ingredients, beautifully served by friendly and attentive staff. Also tasty and matching wines, accompanied by expert advice. Atmosphere is 'spot on', intimate but good privacy, wood predominates, beautiful windows! I was out for dinner one evening, and yet in a sense completely at home.

walked in on a Sunday night and got lucky! Loved this spot, it was cozy and food was immaculate!!! Lovedddd the Hokkaido pumpkin dish and the topinambur dish w bourbon foam. Service was good too. Can be abit loud tho but thankfully we were sat in the corner so quite comfortable still

A great evening at the bar. I certainly hope to see the dry aged ribeye with scallops on the menu. Good atmosphere, nice background music. Delicious food and super hospitable service. And delicious wine!

Worst restaurant ever. Horrible service. Takes 1.5 hrs to get your main dish and every body gets their meal at a different time. Service is extremely slow and very rude. The food is salty and they constantly ask you for drinks. It doesn’t feel like a sincere restaurant but more like a business model. We shared our concern and the responds was “fine”. All the dishes were shared and very small portions. They stuffed a bar with tables and chairs. It feels very cramped and not comfortable. Would not recommend anybody to go there. Don’t go there if you don’t want to be robbed and treated badly.

After an unclear explanation of the menu, half of our table decided to opt for the five-course menu, while the other half opted for the surf and turf. We ordered wine and waited for our food, no problems so far. After 2.5 hours, the surf and turf was finally served, but our table companions who had chosen the five-course meal were still waiting for their main course. Starving, we pounced on a plate of dried-out, tough fries – a side dish to the surf-and-turf. In the meantime, one of our table companions spoke to a waitress about the long waiting time and the extremely small portions of the five-course menu. She replied that the main course, the guinea fowl, had yet to arrive. While half of the table was now ready for dessert, the guinea fowl was finally served. Three hours after arrival and five courses later we received the bill. When paying, the waitress asked if everything was OK. It wasn't. My table companion honestly said that he “found the entire experience substandard” and therefore decided not to tip. “Fine,” the waitress replied dryly, then walked away without even bothering us as soon as the transaction was complete. Stunned by the whole experience, we sat there for a while and watched the waitress chatting with her colleagues behind the bar. No matter how pleasant the ambiance was, the lack of service and the mediocre dishes ensured that we left the restaurant with a bitter aftertaste in our mouths.

We had an absolutely lovely meal. The menu was delicious. All the dishes were interesting while maintaining good balance both in textures and flavours. Portion sizes were good and fair for the price. The bottled wine list is impressive and there is a strong by the glass selection. Service was great and the atmosphere was lovely. Would recommend to anyone.

The food was overall pretty good, without blowing me away. I was surprised to see that despite choosing the 5 courses menu, the dishes we received were to be shared though we did not leave the restaurant hungry. The main negative point was that the service was far from being at the level you would expect for this price level.

Great place ! It was the second time we came here, it’s nice because their kitchen closes at 10pm and it was the only nice restaurant in the area still open. We had the sourdough bread from Loof which was so moist ! And then we’ve got the pumpkin soup, the celeriac and the Guinea fowl which were all excellent!! I will definitely come back there again 🫡

Very good cuisine! Both vegetarian and meat/fish and a very pleasant, relaxed yet well-kept environment. The music is also good (and comes from a real A-class stereo hi-fi set).

Good food and great environment, I didn’t feel like I was paying a ton of money for no food. However!! What’s up with the ugly bathrooms?!

This is my go-to spot for an evening filled with delicious dishes, natural wines and candle lit conversations. The staff is super kind and helpful. Love this place every day of the week.

An enjoyable evening with delicious dishes and surprising flavor combinations. Staff attentive and hospitable. I understand why it is always so busy here. I think the price of the wines is a bit out of line. And as a non-coffee drinker, I missed the cup of tea at the end, because they don't serve that.

The food, atmosphere and service was perfect start to finish and outperforms our recent experiences of eating out in our home city of London. All of this comes at a very fair price. The food was really good, nothing to add. We did the 5 courses menu and we were really happy also about the cost/quality balance. Why not 5 stars? We waited a bit too much between courses ending up the dinner after 2.5h (for Monday evening and 2 people). Also, the dessert was a bit unbalanced for my flavor: the caramel was too sweet.

Recommended!! Every dish on the menu surprised us with its taste. You just barely finish your plate. Furthermore, there is a friendly and pleasant atmosphere. Service very friendly and happy to provide advice/explanation about the wines. Perfect for date night or dinner with friends!

This place has been on my list for a very long time - I finally managed to visit with my trip to Amsterdam last week. I spent a wonderful night here, being spoiled by very attentive service paired with best wines & food. Will definitely be back asap. I know there are many "hype" places popping up again and again - this place has been existing for some time and is made to stay.

It was an amazing night! The food was delicious, the atmosphere was cozy and warm and the service was amazing. We got the tasting menu and we left more than satisfied, and the wine recommendations were much appreciated. The only small downsides were that the cocktail menu is limited, but it’s a wine place so it’s understandable, and that it was a bit noisy. I’d say it’s a great place for a fine dinner. Super recommended.

Jammer om een plek die voorheen zo goed was zo te zien afzakken. Prima keuken, maar het personeel is zo ongastvrij en ongeïnteresseerd dat je hier geen leuke avond zult hebben. Meer dan een uur wachten op eten en ondertussen afgesnauwd worden. Sterk afgeraden.
