Our favorite lunch spot for years whenever we are in Maastricht.

Delicious food and competent staff

The food was excellent in both flavor and texture, and presented with great attention to detail. The service was warm and welcoming without being intrusive, pushy, or obsequious; the atmosphere was stylish yet cozy.

That was a bullseye! My son and I had just arrived in Maastricht and were looking for a nice restaurant, which we found right away. The mussels were incredibly delicious; we haven't had such perfectly prepared ones in a long time. The service was impeccable, and the recommended wine was excellent. We'll definitely be back – highly recommended!

A dinner not to be forgotten anytime soon! We visited Café de Bóbbel tonight. A somewhat hidden gem in a narrow shopping street, but fantastic from the moment we arrived until we left. We chose a bottle of Albarino, thinking that this crisp wine would pair well with the seafood. That thought turned out to be correct, because oh, how phenomenal that seafood was! Deliciously fresh, full of flavor, and perfectly portioned. Both waiters were attentive, efficient, and helpful in suggesting our choices, possessing in-depth knowledge of their own products. De Bóbbel, keep up the good work. We will definitely be back.

We visited as a group of four adults and two children and ordered four portions of mussels with fries. When the food arrived, we received four portions of mussels but only three portions of fries. When we politely asked for the missing fries, the waiter refused, saying he would only bring more once we had finished the fries already on the table to avoid food waste. When we explained that our small table was crowded and asked again, he simply replied, “Just share the fries you have.” Instead of resolving the issue with a simple apology or bringing the missing portion, the waiter became dismissive and made audible comments to colleagues, escalating the situation unnecessarily. Despite repeated requests, the missing fries never arrived. After paying, I spoke to the manager, hoping he would acknowledge the poor handling of the situation. Instead, he defended the waiter, blamed the restaurant being busy, and even stated, “In this restaurant, the customer is king, but I’m emperor.” This was never about the fries. It was about poor customer service, a dismissive attitude, and a complete unwillingness to resolve a simple issue. A problem that could have been fixed in seconds turned into an unpleasant experience because neither the waiter nor the manager was willing to listen. Sadly, what should have been an enjoyable family meal became a disappointing experience.

Delicious! 👌🏻 We came in the middle of summer at the end of July, no reservation needed, cozy atmosphere with great music. We had mussels which were really very good! The staff is very professional and friendly, I highly recommend it ✨

Every time I passed by, it didn't seem all that appealing. But I changed my mind; the food is excellent and very, very good. The place is worth a visit, the service is impeccable and friendly.

This place also offers oysters! I noticed the dishes were well-prepared. The mussels perhaps had a little too much onion, but they were good. The accompanying fries are best ordered with the double-fried option :) I highly recommend it, and if I were to return, I'd try other dishes, like the tartare and shrimp, which I saw being served at other tables and which I thought were interesting.

Beautiful restaurant in the centre of Maastricht. Both the starter and mains were not only creatively served, but delightful to on the palate also. The beef tartare was fresh and flavorful. Another bonus was the extensive wine menu, it accompanied the food flawlessly. The service staff were swift and kind, although it was busy we were still able to find a table without any problem. Vibrant and dynamic atmosphere which makes it a perfect location for any occasion. Thank you for the lovely time and food!

Ordered Boeuf Bourguignon. Tasted more like Limburg sour meat. Way too sour. And the waiter just kept rambling on about it being because there was no thyme in it. Furthermore, ordered a mixed salad which turned out to have a whole layer of cheese on top (which I don't like). Very strange for a salad, but according to the waiter, I should have just indicated that I didn't like cheese.....🤔🤔. Apparently necessary with a salad... All in all, disappointing food (except for the fries and salmon tartare), but especially the service, which constantly gets into arguments whenever you indicate that something is wrong. Not a single reflection or a phrase like "that's unpleasant to hear" or anything like that. I also kindly pointed out to them that the online menu was no longer correct; response: "we haven't done anything about it for years because you can't make reservations anyway...." All in all, food and customer service not what you should expect for that price.

What a lovely little place! 💙 The staff was so nice and helpful, super cozy, and to top it all off, the food was fantastic! We received good recommendations; the cocktails were a bit on the strong side, but that wasn't a problem.

My grandparents used to come here often. After my grandmother passed away, I decided to go and see for myself. We had a delicious meal and enjoyed some fine wines. It was a very precious moment to be here and to be able to experience this. I had a fantastic sea bream fillet, truly top quality that you won't easily find anywhere else. We will definitely be back here and will lovingly carry on our grandparents' tradition. As they used to say: it is instilled in you from a young age.

One of our absolute favorite restaurants, a must-visit on every trip to Maastricht. They serve excellent food in a fantastic, lively atmosphere. The waiters are true professionals—friendly, fast, and attentive. I can't explain the current moderate rating of 4.4 stars; we have NEVER been dissatisfied.

The food was great, the location and atmosphere were fantastic, but: the service was inattentive. Here in Maastricht, we only ever encounter service-oriented and very friendly people. This place has a great atmosphere, but the service just seems to forget about you at times. We kept sitting for quite a while with our empty wine glasses... and that was at the bar... 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

I haven't lived in Maastricht for a while, but I definitely visit regularly. The only place we rarely visit is the restaurants and cafes in the city center. This time, we decided to go to Bóbbel, which we'd never visited before. We knew it from the past, but we really wanted to experience it for ourselves. Nothing like the old days! Praatcafé now had music, was more of a restaurant, and looked much more modern. Sure, it's modern, and the service and food were good, but if you expect something different, it really takes a bit of a shift in your mind. All in all, the food looked and tasted good, and the service was very friendly!

We spontaneously decided to come here and it was simply fantastic! Extremely delicious! I haven't eaten this well in a long time. Plus, the service was excellent – ​​highly recommended!

Another superb experience! This Sunday, February 8th, we were warmly welcomed by a gentleman who was as kind and smiling as ever. Seated on stools by the window, we enjoyed the unique charm of this cozy place, with its Parisian café atmosphere. The mussels were absolutely delicious, as always! We've been several times and have never been disappointed: the quality of the food, the welcome, and the service make each visit truly enjoyable. A place where you feel comfortable and always want to return. See you soon!

The coziest café in Maastricht. Every chance I get, I go there.

The place looked cozy, and the menu was appealing. However, my husband started feeling unwell after a few minutes, and we couldn't stay. We had drinks and had to leave them almost untouched; the food hadn't arrived yet. I asked the waiter to pay quickly, as my husband had already left. I thought he wouldn't charge me for the food—you mentioned canceling, which, after ordering just a few minutes earlier, seemed perfectly manageable—but he made me pay the full amount. I understand being charged for the drinks, and perhaps for part of the food as well, but charging the full amount demonstrates, in my opinion, very little to no customer service or compassion. Perhaps he shouldn't have started the conversation with "best wishes."

It's a location that fits 100% into this beautiful little city of Maastricht.

Nice restaurant. The tournedos wasn't great and was served plain (without vegetables). You have to order fries separately.

Great food and wonderful service. The seafood truly is something. Our favorite were the shrimp pasta and escargots. The only two negative points are it is very loud and small with some uncomfortable high chairs. If you are a big a group, it may be dificilult to find (comortable) seating.

Had a great seafood plate. Atmosphere pretty nice, and seemed quite full most of the time, so was lucky to find a table. Will come back!

Although there were four seats available, the two of us and one four-year-old were only allowed to sit at the bar, which is obviously not safe for such a little one. We didn't eat, so we can't comment on the kitchen.

Very nice address where we go with my wife during our visits to Maastricht, the staff is super professional and very friendly, always a few words in French, the food is quality and it is pleasant to just have a drink with a very nice collection of gin. Don't change anything.

A huge disappointment. The service was cold, disinterested, and utterly bored. The beef bourguignon was too salty, and the amount of anise was unappetizing. For the calamari, they used the cheap, large squid variety, which they drowned in fat and garlic. The steak tartare was so tender it tasted like pure minced meat. Unappetizing texture and tasteless. The meat platter consisted of unusually bland meats with no logical order. The atmosphere and ambiance were very pleasant. However, the tables were extremely close together.

This is a charming little place, and I had a delicious meal here. The pirties are large and flavorful. The mussels are highly recommended. The staff is also super friendly.

What a shame, it used to be one of the nicest bars in Maastricht, but now it's mainly grumpy and doesn't get much attention, even though it was very quiet during our visit.

We had a wonderful meal, the best piece of meat we've had in a long time. The fries were delicious, and the oysters are highly recommended! Yes, we went there for dinner and had mussels and C Leon chicken. Both were very tasty, and the server was very friendly and spoke German. FYI: For people with mobility issues, the restrooms on the first floor may be difficult to reach via the stairs. We'd be happy to come back.

We went in one evening in the recent heatwave, just fancying something lite. We has D a cheese board and a charcuterie board, with wine and beer. It was exactly right and served by a really nice, friendly member of staff. Highly recommended

En ce dimanche du début Août, tous les magasins du centre de maastricht étaient ouvert Le café de bobbel nous attire. Petit restaurant sobre, sans chichi. Le serveur, d'un certain âge, a reconnu rapidement notre francophonie, baraguinant mal le néerlandais et a fait un bel effort pour parler la langue de molière. Dans le pays où les moules de Zélande sont roi, quel ne fût pas notre surprise d'y voir affiché en devanture, des moules bretonnes. Plus petites, mais tellement goûteuses. Nous avons choisi ail et crème. Délicieuses et copieuses. Celles-ci, accompagnées d'une assiette de frites(supplément) et, sans le demander, deux pots de sauces, un mayonnaise et l'autre aïoli. Du fait maison à son caractère prononcé. Le service était relativement rapide, nous n'avons pas eu l'impression d'attendre longtemps. Deux softs, deux moules ail crème, deux frites, 61,80€

Im vollen Maastricht habe wir hier wirklich einen guten Lunch gehabt. Den Laden wurde als Bistrot aufgehübscht. Nette, gute Kellner. Man kann an der Marmor-Bar, am Tisch oder auf Hockern mit Blick aus dem Fenster auf die Fußgängerzone sitzen. Das Restaurant ist gut temperiert und man hat mal kurz Ruhe vor dem ganzen Trubel auf der Straße. Wir haben dort Kabeljau € 24,50 und den Burger Deluxe € 23,90 mit einem Glas Rose genossen. Nachdem wir bestellt hatten, kam eine große Gruppe mit Engländer herein. Alle fanden an verschieden Tischen und an der Bar Platz, obwohl das Lokal schon gut besucht war. So konnten wir auch andere Gerichte sehen, die alle sehr gut aussahen. Es gibt für alle etwas. Von Sandwiches, über kleine Barhappen, Pasta, Muscheln, Schinken, Fleisch und Nachtische wird viel angeboten. Ebenso sind uns viele Biersorten aus dem Fass aufgefallen. Ideal, wenn es draußen so drückend und die Stadt wegen dem Andrè Rieu Konzert überfüllt ist. Uns hats gut gefallen

In a busy Maastricht, there's no one here. Unlike a few years ago when it was absolutely packed.

My boyfriend & I always love coming to Bobbel - today July 4th we celebrated my dear mother's birthday with a delicious portion of mussels and fries. Service is great, the atmosphere is great, the food is great. Highly recommended! Special thanks to the attentive gentleman who served us today, my mother felt very happy :)

It was very hard to find an unoccupied table here at Maastricht during King’s Day but we managed to get a table at Café de Bóbbel (which was a huge surprise as I questioned how this great place isn’t full during this Saturday evening:) Mussels are the absolute-must-have! Also, you must order their bouillabaisse, which was full of flavours🍲 Additionally, we order an amazing steak tartare and a portion of spaghetti with truffles. Both meals were delicious! If you are looking for a place to have a great lunch or dinner, I highly recommend paying Café de Bóbbel a visit!

Fantastic experience at Café de Bóbbel! Yesterday we had a delicious meal at Café de Bóbbel in Maastricht. From start to finish everything was perfect. The service was really top notch – friendly, attentive and professional. We immediately felt welcome. The food was delicious. We had, among other things, the fruit de mer platter with whole lobster as an extra, and that was a real taste explosion! The desserts, such as the crème brûlée and the cheesecake, were also delicious. The bottle of rosé and the UP rosé completed it completely. The atmosphere is cozy and the quality of both the food and the service makes it more than worthwhile. An absolute must if you are in Maastricht!

Excellent ! Le personnel était vraiment à l’écoute, serviable et empathique. La qualité des plats, le goût… nous avions pris le burger deluxe qui était juste excellent et un plat de moules aussi bon. Juste faites attention, 5€ les frites en accompagnement ! Conseil : goûtez la mousse au chocolat, elle est divine !

Apéro Nach der Messe durch die Stadt gebummelt, dabei auf ein authentisches und sehr sympathisches Lokal gestossen. Top Service, aufmerksam, freundlich, professionell und humorvoll. Absolutely popular 🔥 hotspot among well-heeled guests. Simple interior, excellent staff, cuisine: upscale. It's worth taking a look. I was impressed by the clientele, but unfortunately not by the food (had the carpaccio burger) and my friend had mussels, which were really great 👍.

En betje druk. Maar het eten was heel good. Good service. A bit crowded and we had to wait. But it was worth it. My recommendation: mussels Breton style / mosselen bretonse wijze and burgers. Brand's 0.0% IPA was also delicious.

Na verbouwing is de sfeer nog steeds niet terug en zal zo blijven met de huidig bediende en keuken brigade! Rommelig en luisteren niet echt. Bouillabaisse veel en veel te zout, liefdeloos klaargemaakte pot net zoals de mosselen volledig door en kapot gekookte prut, slechte kwaliteit mosselen veel te heet en smaak Nul. Een volgende keer…? Laat maar.

Beste, afgelopen vrijdag wilden wij heel graag kennis maken met de heerlijke gerechten en service van cafe de Bóbbel. Wij waren een weekendje weg en hadden geen reservering gemaakt. Bij binnenkomst zagen we de bui al hangen, maar bleven keurig bij de ingang wachten tot we gedag werden gezegd en geholpen. Zagen nl een plekje bij de bar voor een evt aperitief. Hoewel vol, is het een relatief klein restaurant en liepen er drie man sterk. We hebben zeker 5 min staan wachten, maar er werd geen boe of bah tegen ons gezegd, geen oogcontact of goedenavond. Ookal heb je een goed lopende zaak, lijkt vriendelijkheid en gastvrijheid toch de basis en kost niks. Ondanks de honger hadden we ons buik er vrij snel van vol om te staan wachten op niks. Gelukkig konden we bij Cafe Madrid wel genieten van vriendelijkheid en gastvrijheid. Kan het eten nog zo lekker zijn, zonder een goeie restaurant brigade heb je nog niks.
