If you don't like it there, well, where else will you? You're immersed in the history of an old city. When the Old John plays, I'll be there too. The food is good, the drinks are good, sometimes there's good music, and the staff is friendly.

Very friendly and helpful staff. It can get very busy at times, but they always serve you with a smile.

August 22, 2025: Whenever there's a party in Delft, this cafe is always there. Whether it's King's Day or just a long jazz weekend like this, they're there! I had a wonderful time here Friday evening. Enjoyed some drinks and snacks. We chatted and listened to the various bands. And to be honest, I didn't really like the music on Friday evening.

Dining is not possible here; only snacks are available. The service is friendly, but unfortunately not very flexible for larger groups.

Very nice and super delicious food. The staff was super quick, and communication was absolutely no problem as they spoke fluent English and some German as well. The food arrived quickly, with large portions and hot. We were all full and extremely satisfied. Highly recommended :)

Sitting outside in mild temperatures and enjoying a delicious beer or IPA is absolutely delicious. The very attentive staff ensures that you're well looked after. The food selection is okay, but that's not why we went there. It's a bit on the expensive side, but it's worth it.

Great location to have a biertje with eating peanuts while watching to the gorgeous oude kerk of Delft. Bonus part is to be free to throw all the shell of peanuts to the floor 🙂

Wow, kalfsvlees met friet, voor 30 euro Ik denk 100 gr kalfsvlees zonder smaak en verder ook alleen wat friet. Meisje vraagt of het gesmaakt heeft. Ik zeg dat ik niet bijzonder vond, flauw. Haar reactie? Niet ik zal het doorgeven. Haar reactie was, “ja, het is ook maar een stukje vlees, he” Ja, 100 gr voor 30 euro, nag ik dan verwachten dat smaak aan zit? Nee heren, veel blaten, weinig wol laten. Ff snel money maken met hippe maar valse pretentie. Back to school

We stopped for lunch after strolling through beautiful Delft. The restaurant has a lovely terrace outside the old church. We ordered a cheese platter, soup, and the bitter balls. The food is average, at best. Unfortunately, the server forgot my husband’s order completely, so I had finished my meal before my husband’s ever arrived. My soup was a corn soup, which I heavily peppered to give it some taste. The bitter balls were bland as well. Our server was very busy, so he didn’t notice that he forgot my husband’s lunch order. The terrace was nice, but not nice enough to override the average food.

Really delicious fish and chips. Fresh cod under a thin layer of breading cooked to perfection. The dish is hearty and well presented. When passing through Delft, I would definitely come back. France, Montreal Quebec.

I was passing by with a friend, there was a band playing live in front of the bar. Seemed nice enough, I went inside to order a beer, "oh, you have to order with the waiter if you're sitting outside" they told me at the bar. I went outside, no waiter came, obviously. Went inside again, asked the waiter for a beer, "oh you have to wait outside, someone will come". I went outside empty handed again to listen to the music sitting on a table with my friend. Nobody came to ask for our order. We left. Why are you so unfriendly and bureaucratic towards potential customers?

A cozy gastropub at the heart of Delft. They have their own locally brewed beer and a good selection of other beers as well. The food menu is also good, fresh ingredients and well made. They occasionally have live music at Brouwplein when then weather is good. Highly recommend in Delft.

Schöner Biergarten am Fuß der alten Kirche. Auswahl an gezapften Bieren oder aus der Flasche. Auch Weine, Erfrischungen, Cocktails. Bittergarnituren - kleine frittierte Snacks zum Alkohol - sind sehr zu empfehlen. Besonders die Bitterballen. Preise moderat, Bedienung schnell und freundlich. Gerne wieder

Just a delicious cappuccino on Sunday morning.

Knus, authentiek café. Van binnen klein met buiten een groot terras. Leuke plek zo vlak bij de oude kerk. Kleine menukaart met best ruime keuze. Wij waren er voor de lunch. Heerlijke gerechten - echt top! Het duurde even voordat het eten werd geserveerd. Bediening is goed, vriendelijk en gastvrij. Goed en eerlijk eten voor een redelijke prijs.

Café de Oude Jan ligt aan het oudste pleintje van Delft, vlak naast de Oude Kerk. Het is een klein, gezellig café dat tot in de late uurtjes is geopend. Je kunt er terecht voor een lunch met verse ingrediënten, huisgemaakte appeltaart of gewoon lekker borrelen met een zelfgemaakt glas bier, gin of droplikeur. De kaart is beperkt maar alles wat erop staat is lekker en vers bereid! In de zomer heeft Café de Oude Jan een groot terras op de zon met parasols en terrasverwarming. Een heerlijke plek om te genieten van je lunch, koffie of borrel.

Gezellig en gastvrij! Gister voor het eerst geweest en wat ons op viel was dat de bediening ontzettend lief en klantvriendelijk was, Vooral een jongen met zwart krullend haar! Tot de volgende x😊

We were drunk, numerous and noisy, but staff was nice until late. The self produced "dutch shot" (the dark one) was amazing, tasting of salt, liquorice and chocolate. Honest prices, enjoyable place, recommend!

Heerlijk wat biertjes op het terras gedronken. Ze hebben veel keuze en het personeel was ook zeer vriendelijk.

Cafe oude Jan is echt een begrip van delft echt the place to be, om heerlijk te eten of gezellig pintje te drinken met vrienden. Ben er weekend en er is mooi weer dan is het gezellig druk met de markt op zaterdag, kan je meer strijken voor een heerlijk koffie.
