Café de Tuin in Jordaan

Stopped for beers and bitterballen. The staff are kind and friendly, the music is great and so is the atmosphere and the choice of beers.

Had a great time here with friends before catching a flight. It’s a lively and cozy spot – the kind of place where the noise level lets you laugh out loud without anyone thinking you need therapy. The bartenders were fantastic, loved the experience. A special shoutout to Tanja for playing my song request and for just being sweet, the other bartenders were cool as well.😁

Disappointing Experience at Café de Tuin I visited Café de Tuin in Amsterdam last night, December 23, 2024, around 10:00 PM with a friend. Unfortunately, our experience was far from pleasant. As soon as we entered, we were met by a bartender, a tall man in his forties, who addressed us in a very unfriendly and rude manner. He complained about working alone, mentioned that he was too busy, and insisted that we leave the premises immediately. As a regular visitor who enjoys a drink at Café de Tuin weekly and always leaves a tip, I see this bartender behind the bar regularly. His behavior was particularly disappointing given my frequent patronage. This kind of treatment is unacceptable in any hospitality setting. We came to enjoy a relaxed evening, but instead, we were met with hostility. I hope the management addresses this issue, as it left a negative impression on what could have been a nice visit!

Once in a lifetime experience! If you want to know what living the life of an Amsterdammer feels like you can‘t miss out on this spectacular location. The cozy lights, the fresh drinks, the „gezellig“ ambient and the lovely service fusion to an utmost prestigious experience. The decoration let‘s you revive the XVI century whilst the tapestry is straight out of an interior design magazine. We shall return for another Crawl!

Great food, top service, a must visit for everyone. They have the best apple pie in Amsterdam.

Rick the bartender was awesome! We had some awesome draft beers and quintessential Dutch bar food with his best recommendations for tourism. Would wholeheartedly recommend!

Relaxed brown cafe. .... In the center.....

On a mission to experience bitterballen we headed here, thank goodness! An amazing selection of beer on tap, and the bitterballen which were very good. We also ordered french fries, I always rate these out of 10, a 7 in this instance, still not bad. We had a few other selections from the menu, spicier but well done. Not to be missed if in Amsterdam!

We were here on a Monday lunchtime. There was still plenty of space, the music created a good atmosphere and was at a pleasant volume. The meal took a while, but was very tasty. The service was great. We'd love to come back.

Gourmet break in an authentic and rustic bistro in the heart of a tourist and shopping district. A beautiful soul breathes from the place. Top notch service.

Impossibile non fare una tappa presso questo caratteristico cafè olandese. Situato tra le viette dei canali principali di Amsterdam, ha posti a sedere sia interni che esterni lungo la via grazie a delle panche con tavolini. Il titolare molto cordiale, ci ha spiegato quali sono le tipicità Amsterdam, tra cui le famosissime bitter ballen (polpettine fritte di carne lessa) e patatine fritte, note per la qualità della patata che cresce nei loro territori. I prezzi sono contenuti, lo consiglio come tappa “aperitivo”.

What a lovely cafe, with really friendly staff. 2 ladies behind the bar are so cheery and smiley, very welcoming. Highly recommended popping by for a drink or 2. The brouwerijtij is tasty.

Very friendly local place. Bitterballen and Oma Bobs croquettes are delicious. Service is a bit slow but normal for the area. A go to place in local town of Jordaan NL.

Amazing hidden gem on the less touristy side of Amsterdam. Rick was incredibly helpful and welcoming. Provided us with great recommendations for food and beer, both of which were delicious. Would love to go back soon!

Place is ok and has a nice selection of beers. An updated menu with the price of all beers available would be appreciated as the ones on Google are outdated.

Beautiful and light bar even at the back with glass ceiling, great atmosphere. Bonus points for a fair share of delicious aperol spritz for 8.5€ and grolsch! Appropriate even for larger groups

According to our little Lonely Planet guide book, this is one of the larger brown cafes in Amsterdam. The others must be quite small! We were able to find seats in the back corner, which was lucky since the place was quite full. The atmosphere was pleasant, and it was nice to have a skylight in the back area on a rainy day. I went to the bar to order, but the server kindly came back with me to the table to explain what beers were available. We ordered some bitterballen and spring rolls. If you've never had bitterballen, they are deep-fried crusty on the outside with gravy containing bits of meat on the inside. It's always worth trying something once, but we won't have them again. The beer was good. I had to hunt down someone to pay since the fellow who helped us originally was no longer there.

We sat outside and enjoyed delicious drinks. It was a very cozy place to end the evening.

Tried to ask for a napkin to clean the table ourselves and she told us she’ll see when she’ll have time to attend us. Drinks too ages! And staff was very rude. Do not recommend at all. Table next to us had their food served and was waiting at least 10 min for cutlery. So if you want rude service and cold food cause u have to wait for cutlery most definitely come here :) xoxo

We waited one and a half hours for our food, and after that we were told it was chaos there and they had not even started with out order. We had to leave without eating. The staff was not pleasant...they couldn't care less about the clients. Save yourself the trouble, really. There are a hundred beautiful cafes in the area.

Awfully managed. Nasty inefficient bar tenders. It took more than 1 and a half hours to get our food...actually we didn't even get it cause after one and a half hours they hadn't started. No way to complain or anything cause the staff doesn't give a s#**. Got so many good cafes in this area...really safe yourself the trouble.

Warm atmosphere, variety of beers and delicious side dishes. The girls who served us most kindly. They welcomed us and were happy to answer any questions we had about Amsterdam! Congratulations!

Very friendly environment, chosen at random to shelter us from the rain! We tried the classic Bitterballen and also the curry ones! Both excellent, the latter spicy! Honest prices!

Il locale si trova in zona Casa Anna Frank , entrati per caso , ci siamo trovati molto bene, molto accogliente e pulito , primo impatto non sembra, ma cambierete idea, io ho preso una birra speciale buonissima ci sono diverse scelte.un sandwiches old Amsterdam cheese , lo consiglio veramente ottimo. Musica rilassante , mi sono trovata davvero bene.

Very nice place in a calm zone of DAM. Service a bit slow but it was made up for by the excellent carrot cake and the good americano.

Love coming to the Garden because of the atmosphere and location but that experience is, in all honesty, ruined by the staff and service. Or rather: the lack of this. Unfriendly and uninterested, just ordering a coffee was a pain and effort. I really don't expect five-star Michelin service in a pub, but I have always learned that kindness costs nothing more and they should put that into practice here.

Nice chill place with a nice selection of tap beers. I just thought the service was pretty bad - we almost always had to call for their attention to look at us even though the bar wasn't even that busy. The first bartender, I think he was wearing sort of a hat, looked upset that we interrupted his chat with his colleague to serve us beers after waiting for some time. The other ladies behind the bar were nice but pretty distracted so we also needed to get their attention - but they did now and then ask if we wanted to reorder.

The bar is located in a very nice street in Jordaan. It’s cozy and convenient to sit inside as outside on a good weather. Their Dutch typical bites are really good and they have all beers, wines, gin and drink selections. Their service isn’t that good. I can understand their overwhelmed but they can tend to be rude a bit.

Nice cafe to have a drink and eat a bitterballen! They tasted really delicious by the way. Service was also great!

Ran in here to hide from the sudden torrential rain and very happy we did. Great selection of drinks and the 2 staff were so lovely. Had a super pleasant few hours in the afternoon and it had such a great vibe.

If you're looking for a bar where you can relax and have a conversation, Cafe De Tuin is the perfect place. There's no music playing, so you can actually hear each other talk. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, and the staff is friendly and attentive. I highly recommend this bar to anyone looking for a place to unwind and catch up with friends.

Mooie gave gerieflijke bruine plek. Prettige indeling die niet te nostalgisch is, geen kermis. God zij geloofd en geprezen geen muziek toen ik er was. Buiten kan je ook verrassend leuk zitten.

Un muy buen sitio para probar las cervezas tradicionales y para comer las almondiguas famosas de Amsterdam jjj todo genial muy buen ambiente gente local de la zona. Muy muy recomendable pasarse

Ci siamo recati sul posto per assaggiare le bitterballen Olandesi. 6,50€ una porzione di 6 polpette con monstarda, prezzo conveniente e prodotto buono da mangiare. Andate poco prima di pranzo perché il posto si riempie subito, noi ci siamo portati le polpette fuori.

The service was wonderful, the drinks was really good and the atmosphere was amazing.

Thanks to the great host Karim we all had a fantastic birthday with all of our good friends in café de Tuin: we love it there!

This is a great neighbourhood cafe and a lot of fun. We kept on coming back - the team behind the bar are fantastic. Karim in particular made myself and my wife feel like locals!! Highly recommended!!

Nous nous y sommes rendus un midi après avoir fait la brocante. La serveuse très accueillante nous a préparé nos deux sandwiches. Ceux-ci sont arrivés rapidement et étaient délicieux. L’endroit est agréable et chaleureux. Une bonne adresse !

Petit café très sympa, ambiance chaleureuse, magique lumière sous la baie vitrée. Les chocolats chauds sont bons, ce qui n’est pas le cas partout à Amsterdam!
