We had delicious spare ribs with an excellent salad. It's a local pub, so not exactly a restaurant atmosphere, but the food is great!

Cozy pub. Great specialty beers and friendly staff. I didn't eat there, so I don't know. But I'll definitely be back.

Do you live near Café De Karsenboom? Congratulations! You are involuntarily in the VIP zone of the longest running noise festival in Baarn. Every weekend, until about five o'clock (because why would anyone sleep?), you are treated to living proof that alcohol and common sense are each other's natural enemies. The pub itself seems like an average local pub at first glance, but as soon as it gets dark it turns into a kind of open-air afterparty with the volume turned up to "I don't give a damn about anyone". Screaming youngsters, pounding music, and conversations that usually start with "BROOOO" and end in vomiting... right in front of your door. My garden has been used as a toilet more often than an average public toilet. The sidewalk? A free exhibition of what happens when you fill your body with booze, shawarma and regret. But the best part is yet to come: if you try to say something about it, you will not get any understanding. No, you will get a big mouth back from someone in an overpriced coat with an oversized ego who thinks that you, as a resident, are ruining their party. Because of course it is your fault that you are not cheering at 3:30 when they piss on your front door. And where are the police? The municipality? Nobody knows. Maybe they themselves are knocked out at the Karsenboom, because reporting has so far had as much effect as shouting into the wind. You will get a friendly email back with "we are looking into it", but in the meantime you have to sweep up the remains of other people's youth every morning. Conclusion? Café De Karsenboom is not a café. It is a free night festival with a pee break on your doorstep, live performances by 'Dronken Giel & De Grote Muilen' and a daily surprise in your garden. Fun? Only for the regulars. For the rest of the neighbourhood: put in earplugs, close the windows, get a bucket ready. Tip to the municipality: give this place a ribbon, or better yet: a fence around it. For safety. And for the night's rest of the people who still have to work the next day.
