Amazing gem we found out by chance. Friendliest staff we ever encountered, great ambiance, fast service and a beautiful location, right in the canal.

The valet parking at P96 has deteriorated significantly. Nevertheless, 5 stars.

A relaxed cafe on the canal. Watch the boats go past whilst you enjoy a drink and a great selection of snacks. We had the slow braised beef croquettes and fries. A lovely spot to stop and avoid the stream of humanity for a while.

Nice place, the drinks aren't exactly the best, but the staff is helpful and friendly. The surrounding atmosphere speaks for itself.

A great place to grab a beer with friends or even alone. The fries are delicious! The atmosphere is super relaxed and welcoming. You’ve got options for every mood: sit inside for that cozy pub feel, grab a picnic table to people-watch, or—my personal favorite—head to the boat out front for the best views. Definitely a local gem!

Great bar on a canal, perfect for enjoying the midday sun. We had beers, fries, and bitterballens. The beers were a bit pricey, the food was decent, and the service was friendly.

We ate bitterballen and spring rolls with latte. Everyrhing was delicious, just be aware of one sauce- it's spicy!

Very well located, with good service and excellent atmosphere. Ideal to grab a coffee or a beer and rest outside while walking near Anne Frank's house in Amsterdam.

Service was not existent so can’t rate the food. But even when I went to bar to request a server please come to take our order. Nothing. We waited 45 minutes (longer than we should have) and left. they did have cute outdoor seating on houseboats which was nice to rest our legs since we did not get service.

It's a nice spot if you want to have a drink by the canal, but the toilets are terrible.

Only good thing about this place is that the terrace is on a boat. Coffee snd chai latte not really good, and snacks were really oily. Service without smile and a bit slow.

Nice little find, good staff, pleasant ambiance

The location is super nice, but honestly the service is terrible. It takes forever to order something, and the waiters do not even look at you when you’re trying to order. Every time it seems like they’re trying everything in their power to avoid you. Same thing when you have to pay, it took me and my friends 25 minutes ONLY to be able to pay. It really wants you make you wanna leave without even paying. And the place was not even that busy. The cheese sticks are super overpriced and terrible and don’t get me started on the aperol spritz, if you’re Italian please don’t get that (see picture attached).

I was looking for vegan Bitterballen, saw them on the menu, went in and had a tasty snack with a lovely conversation with the super friendly and helpful bartender. She was an exceptional help to plan my further stay in Amsterdam ♥️

I had a truly distressing experience here earlier this week. I was looking after my friend, who was in no fit state to make any decisions for herself, and I was taking responsibility for her — getting her large amounts of water and trying to keep her safe — when a man came over, complimented me, and when I tried to politely disengage, he became aggressive, saying he didn’t care that I had a boyfriend and that he’d “beat him up.” He kept coming back again and again, getting closer each time, and I felt completely harassed and unsafe. When I asked the bar staff for help, they did absolutely nothing. The male blonde bartender told me my friend “liked it” and that the man was “doing nothing wrong.” He even said, “If you don’t want anyone talking to you, don’t leave the house.” I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. In this day and age, how can a bar be okay with a woman being harassed right in front of them? Eventually, other patrons stepped in to help — not the staff. Even after that, the man stayed nearby, staring at me and calling me a horrible person. Shockingly, the staff then high-fived and hugged him as if nothing had happened, openly condoning his behaviour. Bars have a duty of care to provide a safe environment for their guests — that means not condoning or normalising any form of harassment, towards women or men. I’ve lived in Amsterdam for seven years and have never once felt unsafe in this city — until this week. I left shaken and disgusted. Women should be able to go out and feel safe, not be harassed and told it’s acceptable. I’ll never go back, and I genuinely hope the management takes a hard look at their staff’s behaviour and safety standards.

The atmosphere was great at the beginning of the evening. What was really disturbing, however, was that a group was setting off (illegally) fireworks on the terrace (Saturday evening, early November). The staff were aware of this and visibly found it amusing. I find that really objectionable—not only because it's antisocial to set off fireworks at that moment, but also because the staff didn't intervene. It's a shame about the evening, because it makes it much less enjoyable.

Very rude owner or staff I visited this place last week. We were on a short stop in Amsterdam and stopped here to take a quick break. I was looking at the menu. It didn't have the prices listed for drinks. So asked how much is price for water , cola etc. The rude guy tells me , "oh do you look at prices while ordering for your family on travel. Do you decide what you want based on prices. I don't ". I mean seriously , who are you to judge me and tell if I should ask for prices or not? Mind your own business!! Later I was looking at my phone for instructions for next place. Again he makes a comment , " oh you should spend time together as family. Looking at phone always ". I don't what the issue with this person is , but avoid this place. If this person is not the owner, I would suggest owner to replace him, else you risk losing customers.

I love this bar! I can’t believe I only just visited for the first time. Bartender was super friendly and cool - the atmosphere inside Café P96 is also super cozy and inviting. I ordered a Vaasje - they have Brand, Lellebel, La Chouffe and Affligem on tap. For a 0.25 CL of Brand was €4 which is average in this area. The real standout of this bar is their incredible terrace boat! Multicoloured picnic benches line the top deck and offer insane views of the Prinsengracht canal and street. Best place to people watch and spend the day. Thank you so much to the entire P96 team!

Great pub, the girls behind the bar are super nice, atmospheric decor, seating also by the canal, I recommend it.

Mean people there kind of made my day a little more unpleasent. They backbiting me because i ordered coffe with oatmilk. The barterder with client cursed and said to each other that i should ordered beer. Like this place didnt have cafe in name.

A very nice place that offers an indoor space, a terrace alongside the restaurant, and a terrace on a barge. Perfect for watching the boats go by. The menu is quite well-designed, and the dishes are relatively good. This is a place that allows you to taste local gastronomy (more like finger food) in a peaceful setting.

Amazing atmosphere and delicious apple pie.

We sat on a slightly elevated terrace with a beautiful view of the impressive facades and the canal next door. Wonderful. The food was okay, but the staff seemed a bit overwhelmed at times.

We had the nachos, apple pie, brownie, and drinks including beer, wine and coffee. All were very nice and reasonably priced. Great location, canal side. Service was quick and checked on us regularly, very good.

View of the Westerverk from the tables at the canal. The appetizers took 35 min to get served, hot and tasted like oily street food. The WC was rundown and not maintained, but the coffee came with a biscuit and the waitress was friendly. Fantastic location for a glass of draft, but not for eating.

taking +30 mins to make the most basic sandwish is WILD. the only good thing about thisnplace is eating on the boat. EDIT: there were several freetables, there was no line or crowd. and the lovely cook made the order wrong. waiters were friendly tho.

Breathtaking ambience... If you're looking for a chill place in Amsterdam with a good atmosphere and a great view to drink one, two or three beers, you should stop here to do just that🤩

Best caffe stop in the rainy weathers

Dear This is not an offensive message, but something is bothering me and I want to share it with you. Last evening my girlfriend and I felt very unsafe in your café. A man (seriously under the influence) picked fights with other guests several times, of which we became yet another victim. After I asked if the man would stop touching my girlfriend, I was verbally abused in a very intimidating manner, with the icing on the cake being spit in my face. There was really a lot of loud shouting. Fortunately, two café goers (of at least 15 people who were yawning) decided to help. They escorted the man outside so that we could go to the toilet to wash my face 1000 times. I didn't dare go outside for fear of meeting that raging man. We later found the man in question at the entrance of the café and he remained standing there. The two sweet, helping café-goers waited with us for an uber because we didn't dare walk home or stand outside alone. Meanwhile, I continued to be stared at intimidatingly as the drunk man spat defiantly on the ground. Best bar staff Where were you? I'm sure we weren't the only ones who fell victim to this man. Somehow I feel sorry that I didn't do anything more in this situation to shield other people (women!) from this man (I was too much in shock for that at the time) but I'm actually looking to you for this too. Is your staff really not trained to keep an overview of the room or is it easier to look away? May I hereby make a warm appeal to look around the room and intervene if you see anything? People are not always able to call for help in a timely manner.

On a Thursday we were asked to leave because a vvd jellyfish hour had arrived and had rented the entire café. Response to p96's response: I can pretend that it is not true, but apparently this café is the permanent location for the VVD jellyfish

It is one of the classic and very authentic amsterdam bars, and it is hard to find the real ones nowadays. Definitely recommend, and the bartender called mae is amazing

Don’t get food here, fries were severely undercooked (white fries, not even hot), bread in the bread basket was barely toasted and they said we would get 3 dips for the bread but we only had 2, kaasstengels were fine tho. We also ordered 2 tosti’s, they said they didn’t have bread, which is fine, bread basket was also okay. But they still charged us for the tosti’s??? could’ve been a mistake ofc but they came to us twice to say they had no bread for tosti’s so we assumed they would take it off off our bill when we ordered something else. We were all a bit tipsy when we left so it’s also our fault for not checking the bill before paying.

Great Food in the boat terrace, great service and fantastic sun! We ordered the carpaccio (the tastiest dish with truffle mayo) and the buffala sandwich as well as the original Nachos. Will definitely come back!

The place was very good, very local, the nachos with chicken were delicious, we didn't like the meat croquettes very much but they were good.

One of the nicest terraces in Amsterdam. When you're on the boat and the sun is shining on the canal, you can't get any better. The atmosphere inside is also great. They serve the best bitterballen and a nice range of drinks.

In the afternoon enjoy a good coffee with delicious apple pie outside on a boat. Very pleasant!

The drinks are fine, a good number of cocktails. It's a shame that the opening hours have been adjusted to 1am instead of 3am, this was always our place to have a drink late in the evening. The service is usually good. The pitchers for 24 euros are really too expensive, for 24 euros you can get 6 beers while only 5 come out of the pitcher.

A very cool bar in the heart center of Jordaan area. It has an indoor seating area, on the street and a ship deck that is ideal on a good sunny day. They have all Dutch tapas and a wide variety of drinks. They are all super lekker and tasty. Staff are super friendly and helpful

The only place in Amsterdam that has the seating like this on an actual boat. We spent 3 hrs here just drinking beers and contemplating life :) Good place to chill by the canals

One of the worst experience we had last summer 2023 April in the Netherlands outside this cafe. We were suppose to order food after taking pictures in front of the cafe but some guy ( claiming he is the owner of the restaurant) kept bulling us outside. We were 5 people all together including two kids; 4 years and 8 years. This man had two dogs with him and left them when he saw us. The dogs were barking at us and my like brother was crying. He laughed at us and told my dad, “Hahaha, is he sacred? Are you guys scared? My dogs will throw you in the water, you guys aren’t suppose to be here. I own that Cafe and we don’t like people like you”. Those exact words. We were very surprised to what he said since we never received so much hate for no reason from anyone before. After sometime the lady from the restaurant asked me not to do that and he stopped. We thought of ignoring him but it didn’t stop there. We decide to enter the restaurant but he left his dogs again in front of the cafe door. He just wouldn’t move. And that was it, when we decided to say something and replied back saying this isn’t okay and didn’t enter inside. Racism isn’t okay. We came all the way from United States to explore the beauty of the country and specifically for the cafe itself but had a horrible experience. I am not sure if he is the owner or that he owns the house where the cafe is at but whoever it is, the thing he did is not okay. Other people around him, the workers and all were just watching. Being Racist isn’t COOL. IT’S NOT COOL AT ALL. I kept this long message so that the owner of the restaurant realizes what’s going on outside the cafe as well and how unwelcome people are around the cafe for a tourist. Ps: We ended up going to the Cafe T smalle and had a wonderful time there. The cafe is just beside this one.

I really like this place in summer, the terrace on the boat is very nice and it always have nice atmosphere. I’ve been many times and I will for sure go again. But a big minus point are the toilets that are very dirty and smelly.
