Nice restaurant with a relaxed atmosphere and friendly service.

Unfortunately, it was closed, but the owner and staff were very friendly and attentive. My impression was very good, and I think the memory card makes you dream of fine dining.

We went as a group and were still treated very well. The waiters were very friendly, the service was perfect, and the food was good and plentiful.

Extremely disappointing dining experience at Smit Giethoorn restaurant. We had reserved a table, yet it was not properly set — missing basic cutlery, including spoons. Despite the restaurant not being crowded and having enough staff, service was inattentive and dismissive. When we requested a fresh bottle of chili sauce (as the one on our table was empty), the waitress acknowledged but never followed through. The most unpleasant part was the service attitude. Staff were noticeably cold and unwelcoming towards us as Asian diners, while smiling and being warm to local guests. At one point, I had to take utensils from the side shelf so my friends could eat, only to be rudely reprimanded by a waitress for over five minutes. Instead of acknowledging their oversight in not setting the table, she scolded me repeatedly. Throughout the meal, our requests were ignored — plates were not cleared, dessert was delayed, and dishes were served in a manner that felt careless and disrespectful. The food itself was bland and poorly presented, making the experience even worse. This place may be known for its large boat rides, but the restaurant service and hospitality are unacceptable. Sadly, it gave the impression of discriminatory and unprofessional treatment towards Asian customers. The service attitude is very poor. The waiter was not timely in taking orders. A group of people were busy and only one person could take orders. There were not many people in the store. It took a long time to wait for the food. The waiter's attitude was very poor.

After the boat tour in Hobbit Town, we had a late breakfast. The tomato soup was wonderful, the sweet potato was excellent, and the eggplant balls were a unique experience.

Our trip was supposed to last more than a month. Honestly, when we saw the prices, we thought it might be a little expensive, but we decided to take a chance. Once we were there, we were amazed by the service provided by the girls, even though they didn't speak Spanish and we didn't speak English. The service was fantastic, and the food was nothing but positive. It was good, and quite plentiful. The restaurant is very charming. Honestly, if it were close, I would come back.

After I ate the soup, I stayed for an hour to bring me the 2nd course. When they brought him I asked the girl to give me something else because we don't eat his type of meat and she said she couldn't, she turned her back and left. I got up and left. Lack of kindness and attention. You just wait and have no one to talk to.

Absolutely unacceptable experience. We had a reservation, yet when a family member suffered a dangerous drop in blood sugar, the bartender refused to give us juice, coldly saying “I can’t help you.” This was not just bad service, it was inhumane. We dragged the sick person inside, still no welcome, no menus, no utensils. When my sister asked a server for menus, she was met with rudeness and unnecessary delay. The manager admitted take-away is allowed, proving this was the staff’s choice, not policy. Discriminatory, heartless, and completely unprofessional.

Poor service experience... Visited with family during our vacation. Unfortunately experienced: • Inconsistent service standards - other tables received notably better attention • Unprofessional behavior from staff members • Unnecessarily slow service despite low occupancy Would not recommend. Better dining options nearby with consistent, respectful service.

The food was very good, the service was completely incompetent or racist. As Germans, we waited forever for our food. All the guests from other nations arrived later, ate elaborate meals, and paid. We received our food later, even though we had arrived earlier. Furthermore, we were ignored, and we couldn't order more drinks. Splitting the bill (with two families) was also a big problem. The manager had to appear and discuss things first... At least the food was very good. The boat rental was good.

Nice place, good food, nice service, nice terrace and you can even rent a boat to navigate through the channels of Giethoorn.

One of the first things that stood out to me was how clean and tidy the place was ,definitely a big plus! 🧼🌿 We ordered a homemade rib dish, fish & chips, a crispy burger, and a cappaccio. Here's a quick breakdown: 🍖 Homemade Ribs– Absolutely amazing! Possibly one of the best we've had in the Netherlands. 🐟 Fish & Chips – Just okay. The fish didn’t seem very fresh and the portion size was a bit small. 🍔 Crispy Burger– Tasted fine, quite average overall. 🥚 Cappaccio– Nicely prepared, though the egg was a little cold. 💁‍♂️ The staff were super friendly and welcoming, which made the experience even better! Out of our group of four, two would happily come back again, while the other two are more into exploring new spots. Overall, a pleasant experience with some standout dishes. Worth a visit! 😊🌟

The restaurant has very nice food. I had a nasi salad called chicken without bacon. It was very delicious and the quantity was large. In the same place, they have approved electric boats.

Great restaurant for a meal with the family. I highly recommend the Prawn dish from the dinner starter menu. The chicken satay was excellent too. They use chicken thighs which makes it much more tender.

Onion soup was good. Main course a mini bowl of vegetables/lettuce and a little fish. Dessert ice cream with strawberries, strawberries were gone so we added cherries. Cherries not found

Mediocre and very unfortunate. Chocomel arrived very late, nice excuse and it can happen. As a result, the lunch dishes arrived while we were still drinking chocolate milk. Spare ribs and schnitzel as a lunch dish. Spareribs were ok, a bit dry and more bone than meat. Mediocre for 20 euros. Schnitzel sent back, it was barely fried and soggy. Far too little sauce for a dish of this size. Just received a new one, but the taste was mediocre and above all very salty. It's fine to eat a pancake with children, I would avoid the rest.

Very friendly service, taken straight to a reserved table, good selection of drinks and food, order served without a long wait. The fresh mussels in white wine were of excellent quality and taste, the V-shaped fries were a delight. You'll be happy to come back here. Reservations recommended!

The taste is good, but the price is slightly expensive. Giethoorn is a famous village in the Netherlands and an important attraction that you must visit. There are not many restaurant options nearby. The pork chops and French fries are delicious, and the beer is sweet and delicious.

We waited 15 mins and server passed by 5 times ignoring completely right on the face. Looks like they didn’t want to server to us. Discriminatory treatment. The server kept attending other tables. Do you guys discriminate by color or origin? Felt like it.

The coffee was horrible. Food was ok, but the waiting staff did not explain well the ingredients of every dish, and with picky eaters it led to a disappointing experience, and the staff was unpleasant when we wanted one of the portions to be replaced

We ate at Smit because it was simply the closest restaurant to our accommodation. We came without expectations and were pleasantly surprised. What a delicious meal. Our landlady recommended the prawns as a starter and I have to say: I was not disappointed. So deliciously seasoned and, above all, lots of them. We also loved the tomato soup, the spare ribs, the salads and the schnitzel. There were several really tasty dips to go with the bread. The service was on point and super friendly. It's a dream to sit - both outside and inside. Top toilets. It's a shame that we ate somewhere else on the first evening of our stay in Giethoorn. Would have liked to come for dinner again.

We had the discount deal from 9:30 am to 11:30 am. You have to get out of bed early, but it was worth it. We were the only ones! Top service provided by the guys. Very happy with our choice.

We waited more than 20 minutes without anyone taking our order. The Dutch arrived directly and the waitresses looked at us even though we had translated our request. We left without eating to flee not welcoming at all.

Expensive price for 3 fries and a hamburger! We see the stingy side of the Dutch! Generosity is not their strong point! Very rude waitress! We want to pay, she tells me that the Visa card doesn't work with them! And asks me for a bank card aggressively! I also give a Visa card and it works! I told her what she had just said, it was false! She doesn't apologize! I would never set foot there again! For a tourist place, it’s more of a tourist trap and people who are bored of serving tourists who bring its places to life…

I had a burger and it was very good. Unfortunately there was no dressing on the salad, but ok. The fries look a little different but were very tasty. The volume was a bit high at 85 dB. But all in all everything was good

The food was delicious. The environment was rather cozy, large groups were constantly walking through, the door was open in the cold and something was being repaired in the background. Although there weren't many guests there, the waitresses weren't that attentive, but they were friendly.

The place looks amazing, great atmosphere. The service was fast and our waitress very friendly. However, I had higher expectations when it comes to quality of food. Not even fries were typical Dutch, but frozen the cheapest version. The same when it comes to fish or burgers.

The food is ok but the service is bad, especially if you have food allergies which the staff have zero understanding or patience for. We asked for the salmon dish without the sauce because of allergies but it came with it and after we explained for the second time we can’t eat it, they just half wiped the sauce off and angrily claimed it’s ok. After much debating they agreed to remake the dish

Snelle en vriendelijke bediening, terras zat goed vol en wij (2p) hadden binnen 15 minuten na bestelling ons eten al! Wel een aantal verschillende bedieningsleden aan tafel gehad om te vragen of alles naar wens was! Heel vriendelijk, maar een beetje teveel van het goede haha. Prima om hier te eten i.c.m het huren van een bootje. Dat mag iets beter geregeld worden om bv. voordringen te voorkomen vond ik. Al met al dikke prima!

The food is delicious, but the waitresses always make mistakes and don't ask people to change the correct ones. When the tableware falls on the floor, they won't tell the guests to put it directly on the table. The hygiene is not good.
