Me and my friends had a lovely holiday in Amsterdam and we visited this cafe every day. The food and drink were fantastic, but more than that the staff were some welcoming and friendly, always going above and beyond. I couldn't recommend it enough.

We came to Café Smit & Voogt expecting a lovely Easter lunch, encouraged by the positive reviews. For over an hour, everything was going well—good service, relaxed atmosphere, and two toddlers who were behaving as well as toddlers can. Then, out of nowhere, the chef came out and loudly told us: “Hey, this is a restaurant, not a kindergarten.” It was shocking and honestly quite humiliating. There had been no prior warning, no attempt to address the situation politely, and no effort to offer an alternative seating arrangement—even though we were placed near the kitchen. What should have been a joyful moment turned into a very uncomfortable experience. Families with young children should be aware: this is clearly not a welcoming place for them.

A typical little place. The food is delicious and unique. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming. The staff were also kind enough to help us resolve a major issue we had with the hostel. I highly recommend it. Always smiling and ready to help. Fantastic!

A lovely cafe and restaurant with warm atmosphere. Went in for a late dinner after arriving to my hotel next to it. The steak was sooo good, cooked well and the pepper sauce was even more delicious. Very satisfied and a great place to relax after traveling.

Great and chill place to sit outside. I even forgot my expensive SLX grinder there. I went back to Austria and visited them more than a month later, they still had it including it's contents. I consider this a 6/5 service. Love you guys.

I’ve been frequenting this joint 3-4 times a week, over the past 4 weeks, and it is great. Highly-recommended and a must-visit. The old-cheese sandwich in white bread is to die for, the orange juice is somehow always better than any other orange juice in town, and I don’t care what they say about fries, that magician with the headband cooking that great sandwich, makes the best fries ever!! Shoutout to all the cool ladies who work there, especially the one with the cool 80s playlist, who somehow decided to stop studying medicine and opted for Architecture somehow! I know crazy! Go back to medical school, girl and go back to playing the piano and the drums. Don’t ever STOP this time around! I believe in you!

I first stopped by Café Smit & Vogt for a quick beer the evening before, and it immediately had such a cozy, welcoming vibe that I decided to return the next day for lunch while exploring the nearby botanical garden. I’m so glad I did. The staff were incredibly friendly and warm, making the whole experience feel effortless and genuine. The café itself is adorable — charming, relaxed, and perfectly tucked away. They’ve got a great selection of beers on tap, and the Brie and roasted veggie sandwich was honestly unforgettable. I’d come back to Amsterdam for that sandwich alone! The view adds even more magic — you can watch the rails weave through a lush tunnel of trees and greenery right from your table. It’s peaceful, scenic, and feels like a little pocket of calm in the middle of the city. An absolute must-visit if you’re in the area.

We loved everything about this place! Stopped in for a snack & coffee after walking through the city in the rain. We had fries, cheesecake & frikandells. The vegan mayo is the best mayo we have ever tasted, and that’s just the mayo. Great place for trad. Dutch food, service & atmosphere.

I stopped just long enough to enjoy a local beer and head back to Amsterdam. The waitress is very nice. The beer is excellent! The establishment is clean and beautiful. I loved all the pretty flowers that embellish the place. And a charming young man pumping up his bike tires ☺️

This is our must-visit every time we're in A'Dam. Perfectly gezellig. We usually spend several hours here enjoying wine, snacks, and dinner. Lots of gluten free items including bread and buns. The owner is amazing and really funny.

In my experience, very friendly service

I have eaten at Smit & Voogt many times and it has always been excellent until today. The atmosphere and service are not the issue. But this time, just back from holiday, we opted for a pork tenderloin satay. To be honest, I seriously doubt whether it was pork tenderloin, it looked more like dry turkey fillet or pieces of indeterminate pork, very tough and dry. The fries were also dry and fried for too long. The garnish of the satay dish was also nothing to write home about. Overall a poor dining experience. From now on we'll just stick to a beer for the time being!

Always good, and delicious tap beers (Swinkels) and, very simply, a croquette sandwich. But oh how delicious. Exactly how it should taste. And the service adds a lot to that. They serve delicious dishes with attention to their guests. Next time again!

After a summer walk that is nevertheless rainy, what a pleasure to relax in peace, with good music from the 80s in the light background. Discreet service, real ginger tea. An unpretentious and very pleasant little moment.

Fueled up for a long day of walking in Amsterdam with delicious coffee and omelettes at this small cafe next to a park. Nice sidewalk seating on a relatively quiet street. Omelettes are huge portions and served on toast. Really friendly service. Highly recommend!

Food and drinks were disappointing. Very small sandwiches, meager fillings, but they cost almost ten euros. Wine was lukewarm and bottle had probably been open for some time. Service barely looked at us. Not worth a second visit.

This place was amazing and welcoming. We just happened upon this. What a treat!! The servers were kind and warm. She recommended a delicious beer which I wish they sold in NY (haha she was right)! The next time I go to Amsterdam again. I intend to come here quite a few times. That BLTC sandwich was everything!!

After a long day at the zoo, we enjoyed a satisfying Monday afternoon meal at Cafe Smit & Voogt. Our friendly waiter was proactive in helping us translate some of the menu items. The chicken satay with fresh green beans and fries and smoked salmon salad with delicious brown bread hit the spot!

Orario classico Olandese, dalle 9 alle 24. Da primissima mattina puoi già mangiare con il menù del pranzo ma si adattano anche a una colazione continentale. Ottimo il croissant e buono il Cappuccino. Ottima l’acquavite di ginepro che propongono nei tre invecchiamenti, giovane, 1 anno e 3 anni. Ambiente familiare, disponibili e carini. Grazie ragazzi 😘
