I first stopped by Café Smit & Vogt for a quick beer the evening before, and it immediately had such a cozy, welcoming vibe that I decided to return the next day for lunch while exploring the nearby botanical garden. I’m so glad I did. The staff were incredibly friendly and warm, making the whole experience feel effortless and genuine. The café itself is adorable — charming, relaxed, and perfectly tucked away. They’ve got a great selection of beers on tap, and the Brie and roasted veggie sandwich was honestly unforgettable. I’d come back to Amsterdam for that sandwich alone! The view adds even more magic — you can watch the rails weave through a lush tunnel of trees and greenery right from your table. It’s peaceful, scenic, and feels like a little pocket of calm in the middle of the city. An absolute must-visit if you’re in the area.

I stopped by as part of a trip to Amsterdam and other areas of the Netherlands. I had the steak and it was incredible. In fact, it was up there with the best steak I’ve had! Thank you for a lovely experience.

We loved everything about this place! Stopped in for a snack & coffee after walking through the city in the rain. We had fries, cheesecake & frikandells. The vegan mayo is the best mayo we have ever tasted, and that’s just the mayo. Great place for trad. Dutch food, service & atmosphere.

Excellent goat cheese and vegetable sandwich! Staff was very friendly and accommodating, especially since we were traveling with a very tired baby!

I stopped just long enough to enjoy a local beer and head back to Amsterdam. The waitress is very nice. The beer is excellent! The establishment is clean and beautiful. I loved all the pretty flowers that embellish the place. And a charming young man pumping up his bike tires ☺️

A very enjoyable and comfortable cafe. They have lunch and dinner. The dinner was excellent. We had pork satay and the steak dinner. Both were very good. The staff is helpful and very friendly. It is located on a corner that is great for people watching.

I had dinner at this cafe by chance and it was delicious! Fresh cuisine, a pleasant setting and a attentive waiter. I had two starters, a soup and the shrimp croquettes, it was very filling. I recommend!

The mulled wine is superb, the minced meat sausages are delicious, and the prices are reasonable. It's a warm cafe atmosphere, the waiter is very attentive and polite, I liked it very much.

This is our must-visit every time we're in A'Dam. Perfectly gezellig. We usually spend several hours here enjoying wine, snacks, and dinner. Lots of gluten free items including bread and buns. The owner is amazing and really funny.

Lovely place, with great food fire a decent price. The menu is simple but the execution is with a lot of care. Recommend the BLTC and the Uitsmijters. Cosy interior, plays good quality music softly, nice view on the road in winter and in summer lovely terrace. Just what you want a "eetcafé" to be. Great job guys.

Nicely hidden, quiet but attractive cafe where you can also have a bite to eat. We were there for brunch before our further visit to Amsterdam. Good fresh food, so definitely recommended.

In my experience, very friendly service

I have eaten at Smit & Voogt many times and it has always been excellent until today. The atmosphere and service are not the issue. But this time, just back from holiday, we opted for a pork tenderloin satay. To be honest, I seriously doubt whether it was pork tenderloin, it looked more like dry turkey fillet or pieces of indeterminate pork, very tough and dry. The fries were also dry and fried for too long. The garnish of the satay dish was also nothing to write home about. Overall a poor dining experience. From now on we'll just stick to a beer for the time being!

Always good, and delicious tap beers (Swinkels) and, very simply, a croquette sandwich. But oh how delicious. Exactly how it should taste. And the service adds a lot to that. They serve delicious dishes with attention to their guests. Next time again!

After a summer walk that is nevertheless rainy, what a pleasure to relax in peace, with good music from the 80s in the light background. Discreet service, real ginger tea. An unpretentious and very pleasant little moment.

Fueled up for a long day of walking in Amsterdam with delicious coffee and omelettes at this small cafe next to a park. Nice sidewalk seating on a relatively quiet street. Omelettes are huge portions and served on toast. Really friendly service. Highly recommend!

Food and drinks were disappointing. Very small sandwiches, meager fillings, but they cost almost ten euros. Wine was lukewarm and bottle had probably been open for some time. Service barely looked at us. Not worth a second visit.

I tried the pork with beans & pickled carrots, very very tasty. The staff were extremely friendly & helpful. The next visit I had tomato soup with bread, very scrumptious. My friend had the goat cheese salad & raved about all the interesting combinations in the salad. I highly recommend this place for the food, friendly staff & buzzy atmosphere. Great experience!

Il posto è bellissimo, non grande ma curato nei dettagli. Personale educato, disponibile e , visto il poco inglese che mastichiamo, paziente. Abbiamo cenato roba del posto, insalata di salmone affumicato e filetto con patate e una sorta di patata rossa , non ricordo il nome in italiano. Oltre una vasta scelta di birre. The atmosphere at café smit & voogt was cozy yet vibrant thanks in part to its large windows that allowed for ample natural lighting during our visit., With comfortable seating arrangements throughout there's plenty of space available. Nice selection of food, beers and coffee. Friendly efficient service in a clean cafe.

This place was amazing and welcoming. We just happened upon this. What a treat!! The servers were kind and warm. She recommended a delicious beer which I wish they sold in NY (haha she was right)! The next time I go to Amsterdam again. I intend to come here quite a few times. That BLTC sandwich was everything!!

After a long day at the zoo, we enjoyed a satisfying Monday afternoon meal at Cafe Smit & Voogt. Our friendly waiter was proactive in helping us translate some of the menu items. The chicken satay with fresh green beans and fries and smoked salmon salad with delicious brown bread hit the spot!

Orario classico Olandese, dalle 9 alle 24. Da primissima mattina puoi già mangiare con il menù del pranzo ma si adattano anche a una colazione continentale. Ottimo il croissant e buono il Cappuccino. Ottima l’acquavite di ginepro che propongono nei tre invecchiamenti, giovane, 1 anno e 3 anni. Ambiente familiare, disponibili e carini. Grazie ragazzi 😘

We had a lovely lunch here after visiting the Resistance museum and botanical gardens. Sandwiches were delicious; goat cheese and roasted vegetables on brown bread. Great service and a pleasant environment.

Absolute brilliant little bar. The chap who served us was lovely and gave superb beer, food and local recommendations. We will happily return.

This was right down the street from us and we stopped for a night cap. The locals were nice and it was great to sit outside and watch the 14 and bicyclists go by. Nice spot!

Food prices are very feasible. The smoked chicken is deli style instead of a typical grilled. The Dutch style pancake was very good. The selection was small (three options). Service was good, friendly staff and didn't have to wait long. Overall I would eat there again.

The goats cheese salad, ( so yummy I forgot to take a photo!) steak, home cooked cheesecake and croquettes were delicious.

Super aardige mensen hier achter de bar. Er was gratis zonnebrand beschikbaar en het zat heerlijk in de zon. Er was genoeg kennis om goed advies te geven over de beschikbare drankjrs en er waren echt lekkere (vegetarische) Snackjes aanwezig! Perfecte plek voor een drankje en een hapje.

De beste barman van Amsterdam is onlangs begonnen bij deze toko. Check die woensdagavond. Een feest.
