I come here quite often to get my matcha; they are fast and the last few times super friendly, a new person I think.

Great coffee and space to sit with laptop!

The cappuccino with coconut milk was really good, didn’t taste bitter at all. The brioche french toast was also good, highly recommend!! The staff lady was also very friendly

This is the 2nd time I've been here; the first time was very pleasant. The layout of the cafe is minimalist and it really gives the cafe a nice atmosphere. Haven't been here in ages and stopped by so enthusiastically to grab a drink to go.. 1. Wasn't greeted at the counter, the man was looking at his screen while I was clearly ready to order, eventually I just said hi myself, good afternoon, can I have a 2. They had an order before mine and I saw them grabbing the ice with their hands for an iced matcha (I wonder what they did with mine?!) I work in a cafe myself too, so I would never, ever, EVER grab my hands in the ice 3. Despite an order before mine, it took quite a while to get my drink ready; I had an iced americano with foam and that shouldn't have taken that long (hot day, I used to work at Starbucks and at home you can easily make foam with whipped cream and milk) but anyway, quiet day so take your time I guess 4. About half of my drink was foam and unfortunately it looked more like a watery coconut(?) latte once mixed, really disappointed so for 6 euros I expect something a bit more flavorful

Really enjoyed our visit to Cafe Unfiltered. The strawberry peanut butter matcha was amazing, and the sourdough with eggs, avocado, turkey bacon was seriously good. The sandwich with burrata and cheese was also fresh and full of flavor. The interior has a beautiful aesthetic and the atmosphere feels very local and relaxed; you can tell this is a place appreciated by Rotterdam locals. Service was friendly and welcoming throughout the visit as well. A bit on the pricey side. Aside from that, definitely a place we recommend for brunch, coffee or a laid-back lunch in the city. I’ve been here quite a few times, and always really enjoyed it. Drinks, food and staff were great, - until I met an a-a-absolute piece of work “barista” who was rude and snobbish for no reason. It is a great spot otherwise. Just need a bit of luck to catch nice baristas.

Wonderful banana bread, the coffee was nice too. The cookie was stale and crunchy, and tasted like just sugar rather than whatever flavor it was meant to be (matcha or pandan??)

Truly a wonderful place! The matcha is incredibly delicious and the breakfast is also really top-notch. Everything is fresh and beautifully presented. The service is super sweet and welcoming, which makes it even better. It is also a truly beautiful spot. Definitely recommended!

We came on Sunday, 4 staff members were working, and only 2 guests were waiting for their drinks. We ordered an espresso and a matcha latte, plus toasted banana bread. After 15 minutes of waiting, I asked what was happening with our order (because I’ve seen how the barista started making take-away drinks for people who came after us), and they brought our drinks pretty fast, like in 4 minutes. I asked what was happening with my food order (I was looking in the kitchen, and there was nothing happening). The barista said “yes”, went away, came back after 2 minutes and asked what we had ordered. We had no time to wait, but she said they could do it really quickly, so we repeated our order. Instead of starting to make it, she asked us to prove we had paid for it because she didn’t remember whether we had actually ordered it. At the same time, the guy from the kitchen started telling us that it usually takes 20-30 (!!!) minutes to prepare the order, and they had many (!!!) food orders. I was absolutely confused by this: first, they told me I didn’t remember my order, and at the same time, they said they were in a rush, so I guess they knew what I ordered (they didn’t, because they asked me again what I ordered). We asked for a refund for the food and left, but they started telling us they had plenty of food orders. Dear staff, I sat literally between the kitchen and the bar and saw everything. I worked as a barista for 6 years, and I saw every guest who was waiting for drinks and the guests who actually ate food when I came in. When I went out, these guests had the same number of dishes that they had. Next time, apologise to your customer and let them know you forgot about their order. Tell them how long it takes to cook it. That’s it, no need to tell your guests that this is their fault, or actually it takes longer or whatever. I probably won't come back, even if matcha was pretty good.

We sat down because the terrace was sunny and had the most delicious hummus sandwich ever! The vibes inside were great too.

20 minutes wait for a 4 euro cappucino not even 100ml. what a scam. Avoid.

We went here, but unfortunately, the experience was very disappointing. Upon entering, we weren't greeted by the staff, and nothing was said. We weren't given a menu, even though it wasn't busy—there were only two or three other customers. After waiting for about 20 minutes, we still weren't helped. It seemed as if the staff didn't seem interested in us being there. I finally got up myself to ask for a menu, but even then, we weren't helped. No smile, no customer service. Furthermore, the selection was very limited. We ended up leaving without ordering anything. It's a shame that all our effort was for nothing, especially since we came specifically for this café. We felt completely unwelcome.

Grain: Catimor, Anaerobic Method: V60 Ratio: / Roast: Medium Price: €7 Notes: An under-extracted cup. Poor aromatic profile lacking any complexity. The result is bitter with a medicinal, acetic note. The mouthfeel is diluted and leaves a cardboard-like coating on the tongue. The aftertaste is ashy and reminiscent of tobacco.

I now visit Cafe Unfiltered regularly, and every time it hits the mark. The coffee is of high quality and clearly prepared with care. You can taste that this isn't "quick junk," but truly well-cared-for. What I also appreciate is how transparent and friendly the team is. If something isn't possible right away or takes a bit longer, they indicate this immediately and politely, and they are proactive. No empty promises, just honest and service-oriented — you don't see that everywhere anymore. The atmosphere is relaxed, everything feels genuine, and you can tell that people work with passion here. For me, it is one of those places you can rely on and where I happily keep coming back. Highly recommended in Rotterdam.

low vibes and the coffee was average afffffff

found cafe unfiltered online and thought they deserved a chance despite the mid reviews. i came in at 4pm on a weekday, and i felt extremely unwelcome when my friend and i entered. the staff gave us a dirty look and a feeling that we should not have disturbed them. no greeting, until i asked them if we could take a seat. they replied, but very uninterested. we ordered 2 matchas and they served it in plastic to go cups, i found this very lazily done since i expected more from the pictures i saw online. the drinks were okay, but i could taste the low quality matcha. it was mainly the service that was very disappointing.

A lovely, modern coffee shop. Excellent food and good coffee. Everything is freshly prepared in an open kitchen, which I appreciated. I'll definitely be back!

The best V60 coffee I’ve tried in Rotterdam❤️

There's too much noise in the building; everyone is shouting at each other because of the din, which apparently echoes throughout the building. A peaceful atmosphere is nowhere to be found.

The coffee is fine and you will not be disappointed. However there are better cups of coffee in the city for the same price. Additionally, they should include a better exhaust in the kitchen. When they cook, the smell is quite strong and it permeates the whole establishment.

This is the second time I came by and the restaurant was closed, without any update on Google or Instagram

Came to grab breakfast before a meeting I would have 40 minutes later. Food took so long to prepare (eggs on toast) that I had to grab it to go. Staff offered nothing after asking about their ridiculous waiting time. Food was mediocre at best; single slice of toast, bland eggs and soft bacon. Solid one star experience overall.

The only star I could give is for the atmosphere and interior design, and the rest is worse than bad. We ordered an americano and a latte to-go on Sunday morning around 10am where there isn't too many customers in the store. We have waited for 30 mins for just 2 drinks, and due to the long wait we just sat on the stool next to the counter after 20 mins wait, and the guy behind the reception asked us to stand up as we only ordered to-go, even there are plenty places left where no customers waiting or sitting. The coffee we have finally got is mediocre and a bit over roasted for the americano to me. I hope the staff could either make the coffee a bit quicker or treat customers with a bit of caring mindset.

I came here on a Sunday to get some work done. I ordered and then went to the table and opened my Laptop to get some work done. As soon as the Lady brought me my coffee she rudely said "You cant use Laptops here on a Weekend". What type of cafe doesn't allow you to use Laptops!?! And even if they don't make it obvious. Pathetic experience, I would never go here and would not EVER recommend it to anyone.

I have visited Unfiltered a couple of times and thought the coffee and staff is nice. However, i made the mistake to go on a weekend, they apparently have a 'no-laptop' policy which is not AT ALL clear for the customers. Once i ordered the food and was ready to start my work, the barista told me i can not use my laptop since it's the weekend... what kind of a cafe does that. Never going there again.

A very bad experience at Café Unfiltered. Matcha didn't arrive until 20 minutes later (to-go customers received it immediately), and the food took a little over an hour, without any advance notice. Inside, you also get a smaller cup than to-go, for the same price. When I went to checkout, I indicated that I didn't want to pay the full amount due to the poor service and the long wait. I suggested a reasonable alternative: perhaps removing the drink from the bill. The employee refused, remained unfriendly, and charged the full amount to my card, making partial payment impossible. When I indicated that I either needed to deduct something or leave, the employee literally told me I'd be better off leaving without paying. It was very strange: not wanting to offer a small concession, yet allowing a customer to leave without paying. So I finally agreed, as I wasn't offered any other option. This wasn't the first bad experience here, but it will definitely be the last. Poor service, unprofessional, and unfriendly. Also often not open during opening hours!

Overpriced and not very good. The matcha latte was soo bad and the cinnamon roll which costed around 5 euros was so hard and not good. I’d spend my money elsewhere but I walked in as it seemed like a cute cafe

Today I went by at 13:30 and the shop was closed, while the internet says the shop is open. Very strange.

Took around 30 minutes just to get a ginger tea, while the male barista was very rude and served us with an attitude.

Almost €6 for a single small pastry. Tasty but overpriced.

The food was delicious! The staff is thoughtful and sweet. The lady started opening the kitchen for breakfast earlier for us. Very sweet! It was very tasty and the quality was good to taste! The matcha with white chocolate was deliciously full of flavor and creamy. We will definitely come back soon to try the rest of the menu.

Had one ice-latte and one filtered coffee and one white chocolate cookie for €12. A very nice and unique minimalistic decoration (many items from ZaraHome). Highly recommend!

Food was good, but disappointing that 1 hour after opening they already did not have one of the food items we wanted. The coffee, which we received AFTER getting our food, was burnt and the service was quite bad despite it being very empty/calm.

Half a year ago I gave this place 5 stars. Today I noticed that since then a lot has changed drastically. I couldn’t finish my matcha drink, because everything was so out of balance(too watery and the flavors were not complimentary to each other). And even though the ladies behind the counter seem nice, they don’t deliver professional service, unfortunately. To the point where you almost feel scoffed at and are getting wrong orders. I personally liked it more when the owner was present in the cafe, since there was consistency in his service.

Went to Unfiltered yesterday and unfortunately had a very disappointing experience. I ordered a coconut foam matcha and asked what it contained, because I wanted to know if it also contained coconut milk. The response to this was already strange and impatient. I then asked for the WiFi code, to which I immediately received an offensive response about their 'no laptop policy', while I had not even indicated what I wanted to use WiFi for — that could have just been for my phone. Then I noticed that the WiFi guest network had suddenly disappeared, which I found very strange. My matcha was served with some spilling over the glass. That can happen, but when I asked for a piece of paper to clean it, the glass was immediately wiped with a cloth. No matter how clean that cloth would be, I thought it was very unhygienic and not appropriate in a catering business. Fortunately, the employee then politely offered to make me a new matcha. However, at the bar I heard irritated reactions about my request and the second matcha was handed over without any friendliness. While I was quietly working on my tablet — waiting for my girlfriend — a woman came up to me in a rather intimidating manner to once again sternly point out the 'no laptop policy', while the cafe was practically empty. I understand that you want to apply rules, but it's about the way you present it. As a catering employee you can also ask politely if someone wants to finish, especially if someone is just waiting quietly and is not disruptive. The negative attitude from the first moment made me feel completely unwelcome. Finally I decided to call my girlfriend and not order anything else. Very unfortunate, because my first experience at the opening was actually very good. I still wish them success, but I can also make good food at home — hospitality makes the real difference. As a customer you should feel welcome, not attacked or intimidated. Unfortunately, after this experience I will not return.

One of my favorite coffee shops, no, say it wrong... living room... The owner makes you feel as if you are visiting his home. Quality comes first! He makes everything himself and you can taste it with love! If you like something really tasty, go here!

Today me and my girlfriend came by for the first time! I found it a pleasant experience. I really liked the mango matcha and so did my girlfriend! My girlfriend had the white chocolate, she didn't like it that much, but of course it wasn't necessarily bad. The service was okay, we received our drinks after 10 minutes or so, even though it was really busy in my experience. I definitely recommend this business! The atmosphere was also pleasant and present😊. We will definitely come back.

I’m a bit surprised by the recent reviews and honestly find them rather unfair, as this place is actually quite nice! The food menu offers some interesting options, and I had the chance to try the scrambled truffle eggs, fried eggs, and toasted banana bread. Both egg dishes were delicious, though the banana bread was a bit too sweet for my taste. The wait time for food can be longer if there are multiple orders ahead, as there’s only one person behind the kitchen counter. However, drinks are served quickly, and my coffee was excellent. On another visit, I tried the cold coconut foam matcha - while the matcha itself was good, there was no actual coconut foam, just coconut milk, which was a bit disappointing. That said, I still think this place deserves your attention and is worth a visit!

Amazing, amazing, coffee (the best in town) but could you please get your opening times straight? And link them to Google? Way, way too often I make a detour to get coffee with you, and find the door closed, when google (or the door sign) tells me you would be open.

Great coffee and nice interior, really enjoyed the french toast with my americano. Also extra points for the one the one that decided the playlist of the cafe :) I do wish the ventilation of the cafe was better, because it has an open kitchen, the cafe got a bit smoky. Again, nice food, but wish I got a bit more bread with my eggs. Overall, I would definitely recommend to get a cup of coffee here and maybe get something to eat.

This place is a real disappointment! It was looking cool though the social media but not in reality. Coffee was burned and the whole bar was dirty filled with unwashed dishes. I also saw the waiter touching his genitals before serving a coffee. The guy that was cooking was really angry and rude. An inspection needs to happen there for sure!

The restaurant looks very nice and minimal from the outside, but unfortunately the inside is poorly finished and not so fresh. Such a style can be very cool if it has a high finish and that was not quite there. The food (French toast) is very tasty and good flavor combinations. The matcha is also tasty, although the syrup gave it too much texture. It also contains a lot of ice, so you have relatively little to drink. In short, nice thing but overpriced

They have a ridiculous policy, you are not allowed to use a laptop here between 12:00 and 15:00, but this is not clearly stated anywhere. I was already with my order when they pointed it out to me. Super customer unfriendly, never coming back here!!!

Unfortunately a disappointment. Mediocre drinks and very unfriendly staff. The ventilation is not working properly and the room gets stuffy and smelly.

We have been waiting for our drinks for 40 minutes, waiter explained that it was busy ( i can understand that, i work at Horeca myself, but there was 16 customers (including us) and 3/4 staff members). Then, we were waiting for 30 more min for food (it’s been 1hour 10 min since we’ve ordered everything). For the price of 15 euros (average), you are receiving nothing special. The drinks were nice, but, unfortunately, i can not say the same thing about the service. It was not my first time there, and all the time workers are either not friendly, or it seems that they are not willing to be here.

Unfortunately, service has changed. Coffee is good, but the place doesn't have good ventilation. Stinks of food. Employee not very enthusiastic about their work. The young man, on the other hand, was very friendly at the cash register.

There is no latte art with the self togo mug 🥲 but the flavor is good, the indoor store design is quite fashionable.

First visit last year was great, but now we went back and it was the complete opposite. Unfriendly staff and a dirty table and surroundings.

After the first payment failed, my girlfriend had to pay again. After doing this, she looked at her banking app and saw that she had paid twice for our coffees. We went back and asked if the amount that was deposited the second time could be refunded. However, the employees were not willing to do this and my girlfriend would have to contact the company account via Instagram to get her money back: I did this, but after a week still no response. Coffee was also very lukewarm.

Place has minimalist aesthetics, and minimalist functionality. There is no hanger to put your coat so you cozy up on the bench surrounded by wet jackets. Open kitchen design, but no wents. Whole room, including myself at the end, smelled like burned eggs and bacon. Exactly the thing one might want to avoid by eating out. Also, the kitchen was disorganised, as if it was going through a manic episode, contrary to what is expected with open kitchen fronts. Multiple plates were broken and still used, proudly displayed on the counter. Personnel (instructed?) poorly. Serviablity and communication was terrible. Long waiting time for food and also cleanup, even with little amount customers. Dishes 1/2. The hummus bread came up with only half the ingrediants and also completelly different from the menu. First forgetting the avocado, the fix took more than 10 minutes. And the plating, dissapointing. Second, the type of mushroom was switched. Champignon is not Shiitake. Also, they were cold. Upon mentioning the muscroom mixup, I was replied with “I dont work in the kitchen”. With a minimal menu, its unthinkable that the staff is not properly trained on its content. Solution brought back also unsatisfactory, staff unprofessional. Burata peaches was alright, besides being served on a broken plate, but nothing special. Performance, poor.

My first visit here I had a good experience, but when I last visited the iced matcha was undrinkable and had no taste. I ordered the French toast, but after waiting a long time I was told that they were missing some ingredients and I had to choose something else. It wasn't busy and everyone had already ordered, so I don't understand what took so long before they found out that they were missing a few ingredients. Anyway, I wanted the acai bowl, but they didn't have that either. It can really be much better guys.

This was my second visit to this place. On my first visit I was satisfied and had a positive experience, which made me decide to come back. Unfortunately this time the experience was disappointing. We ordered two cups of coffee and a piece of banana bread. However, the coffee was served in dirty mugs, clearly not properly cleaned. We then asked for new coffee, but the barista then brought it very grumpy and without any kind of friendliness. After a long wait, the ordered banana bread turned out not to have been served either. Another employee eventually apologized for this, which I appreciate. Partly thanks to these excuses, I give two stars as a review, but the overall experience was unfortunately far below expectations this time.

Good coffee and acai bowl (unfortunately off the menu). It's a pity that the kitchen officially opens at 10 am, but in practice it can also be 12 noon. When I asked if this could be made clearer on the website/instagram, I was told that this was not possible. So this is of no use to you if you are making brunch plans.

Unfortunately the expectations of the place were too high. I paid for my coffee and never got it, like?? I was waiting for 20 min for a coffee and the unfriendly staff was not willing to help. When I asked them that I wanted my coffee to go instead, they didn’t reply and left me unattended. Only good thing was the design of the place.

Very friendly help. The taste of the matcha was not good due to the milk-matcha balance, so it was a bit less. Unfortunately, the acoustics and ventilation of the room were not really good either.

I gave it two stars because of the music vibes thats it, the v60 taste awful . I believe they don’t know how to do a proper v60. The wait is insane. I waited 30 minutes for a cup of coffee. Just a quick advice hire a real barista who knows how to make a genuine cup of coffee.

Coffee is fine and tasty, but honestly the waiting time of a scrabbled egg on toast should not be more than 20 mins. It messes up the whole experience in my opinion. Why bring the coffee if it’s gonna get cold during the wait? The piled up dishes over the counter sums up the state of what does not work in the cafe. Chef needs a little help from their friends :) Update: they offered to refill our drinks and the food was top-notch! Dank je wel!

Decent coffee but really slow service.

Coffee beans from Albert Hein, pastel de natas aswell. Also dont leave here any tips, I was working here for two months and I did not get any, because the ,, manager’’ is too penurious🙋‍♀️🤫

I gave it two stars only because of the music vibes thats it. But when it comes to coffee this place is awful and i don’t recommend it at all the wait was crazy i waited 30 minutes for a cup of coffee and the staff wasn’t friendly at all. The coffee was very weak, for a specialty coffee shop. I don't know how long this place has been open, but I feel like they have to improve many points, but the idea they have is cool!

However, the café is very busy, so you have to wait a long time for your order, but the staff is friendly. I think it's a shame that the portions of the drinks are small; it would be nice if there were also larger options available for the matcha latte.
