Friendly staff and wonderful food 😊

We had lunch. It's cozy both inside and outside. We've had lunch here a few times before, and there's always something going on. Among other things, the bread is too dry, the meatball is a pressed ball of meat that doesn't taste homemade but from a wholesaler, and the cappuccino milk is too watery. This was definitely the last time.

Great café, super friendly staff. The interior is even better than the exterior. Everything is very clean.

Good atmosphere, even when being bus, as well as nice interior setting. Staff was incredibly friendly and it was very laid back. Food was good, not amazing but good.

When you are in Groningen you have so much choice to go for lunch and terraces, but I sat here and found it very relaxing. On a busy warm day cheerful staff and no long waiting time and just a well filled sandwich with delicious sweet potato fries with truffle mayonnaise.

I went here to meet my girlfriends parents for the first time and it was a pretty nice experience. They been here before and chose this place to meet up. Overall I had a really great evening, also thanks to the restaurant. The food here was amazing, the fries were a bit bland but nothing a bit of salt can't fix. They have a solid selection of meals but I chose the BBQ chicken and I was really happy with my choice! The service was also amazing. Very friendly staff and quick service despite the restaurant being moderately full. The restaurant was also nicely decorated and the acoustic is pretty good. Despite there being some other guests present we were able to have a conversation just fine.

Just came for a drink while staying in the adjoined hotel (Market Hotel). Really nice place...good ambience.

Lively place on the ground floor of the hotel right off of the Grote Markt. Great and prompt service and a varied menu.

Hotel looks neat and is recommended for Groningen. In terms of food, this location has deteriorated (certainly after the fire/temporary closure). We liked to come here to have lunch locally, but this location is no longer high on our list. The menu has become less, prices have remained the same (high for current quality) and staff has become unfriendly and distant. I hope that this will improve.

Really more than top: everything is right, our 8 year old son got a nice coloring book that he could keep and a nice 3D puzzle, service is fast, neat, friendly and sees what needs to be done, food is fantastic, really a great restaurant!

Delicious bread and a large assortment. If you go on a Saturday morning, there is unfortunately always a long line. Perhaps it is also characteristic that they sell good products. The interior, atmosphere and smell really give you the feeling of a traditional modern bakery.

Was delicious, very friendly staff. Unfortunately fresh orange juice, from the wholesaler. Medium glass €5.50, it should really be freshly squeezed on site. Other than that, nothing but praise!

The cafe is very nicely decorated, the service is very nice and friendly, but what I think is a shame is that, according to one of the waitresses, there are no toilets for severely disabled people, but there is one there.🤔 The shandy and the cake tasted good

Extensive menu, excellent arrangement of tables and chairs, wonderfully friendly staff and making the dessert is a feast for the eyes!

Op zaterdagochtend lang moeten wachten op bediening. Begrijpelijk, want druk. Vervolgens weer lang op de bestelling moeten wachten. Pittige bedrag voor een kop koffie die ook verkeerd ging. Wachten op de goede en toen we opmerking maakte over het lange wachten werden we afgesnauwd met:” weet u hoe druk het is?!” Kortom hier komen we niet meer

Koffie gedronken op het terras. Goede koffie en bediening was prima. Erg lekkere plek om te zitten. Je kijkt uit op de Grote Markt, waar genoeg te zien is. Service was uitstekend en binnen zag alles er ook goed uit. Komen hier zeker nog eens terug.

Unfortunately, some favorite items have disappeared from the menu. Cake great, just a little too small for the price.

Great atmosphere, nice service, but the food is an embarrassment. €11.25 for a boring waldkorn bun with 'smoked' beetroot, without taste, without attention. My table companion's oyster mushroom croquette didn't even taste of mushrooms. As if you were eating at Van der Valk in 1996.

Spacious inside, but the layout creates all sorts of cozy nooks. Friendly service. The food was fine, but not very exciting.

The cappuccino is delicious. The croquettes are poor quality. There's no meat in them. The healthy sandwich is also small and served on a simple roll. The staff is polite and friendly. The hosts' clothing is often sloppy, with un-ironed trousers that look faded. The ladies are more tidy. It's a shame the manager doesn't pay more attention. I know this is especially noticeable to me, as I was a lecturer at a hotel school, etc. It's a shame for a beautifully decorated hotel restaurant.

We had a cup of coffee and hot chocolate here, along with a slice of apple pie and three chocolate pastries. It was very busy, but the service was fast. Excellent pastries and delicious coffee. It's not recommended for a quiet place, as it's pleasantly busy. It's nice that there are clean and tidy restrooms. Plenty of choice.

Cozy cafe, good atmosphere, the amount of food on your plate is not a lot, but very tasty.

Disappointed is the word. I ordered a 300-gram tournedos. You expect one nice, medium-rare piece. Unfortunately, it was two separate pieces. It looked like they had been boiled. Gray and dull. Such a shame. The fries were pale and limp. The mixed grill was also mediocre. The chicken and spare ribs were dry. And it felt like we'd been seated in the coffee corner. I wouldn't come back here for dinner again.

The food was absolutely delicious! I wasn't expecting such a lovely experience from such simple ingredients. The staff was also incredible and made the visit even better.

Met een grote groep gegeten. 3-Gangen menu met bij voor- en hoofdgerecht. Keuze uit vis, vlees en vega. 2 Nagerechten. Begrijpelijk dat de keuken beperkte keuze aanbiedt. Voorgerecht van wildzwijncarpaccio was goed. Het hoofdgerecht: rundersukade. Mooi gegaard en smelt op de tong. Bij mij warm, bij sommige anderen lauw tot koud zelfs. Dat zeiden ze pas nadat ze het op hadden gek genoeg. Nagerecht van stoofpeer vond ik wat tegenvallen: te weinig stoofpeer en (naar mijn mening) tekort gegaard.

We dined with a large group. A three-course menu with a choice of fish, meat, and vegetarian for the starter and main course. Two desserts were included. Understandably, the kitchen offers limited options. The wild boar carpaccio starter was good. The main course: beef skewer. Beautifully cooked and melting in your mouth. It was warm for me, but lukewarm to cold for some. I was a bit disappointed with the stewed pear dessert; there wasn't enough stewed pear and (in my opinion) it wasn't cooked properly.

The restaurant is great-really big, so you don't have to sit packed in like sardines, grasping for air like in many other places in Groningen (especially during Saturday lunch). The decor is Great Gasby elegant and the sitting spaces are comfortable. Services was very quick and friendly despite it being extremely busy that day. The service robot is very cute. Now onto the food - I ordered the Chef's lunch and it was just mediocre. Very run-of-the-mill, definitely not made fresh on the spot meal. Soup was ok but lukewarm, bread tasted like a supermarket cardboard nothing, omelett was cold and the beef croquette tasted cheap. For this (high) price you can get much better lunches in many other spots in Gro. I also got chocolate- it was served beautifully and very tasty. But not tasty enough for me to come back to this Café.

Het duurt ontzettend lang voordat je drinken krijgt en daarnaast krijg je zeer weinig nacho’s voor je geld. Zelf als je feedback geeft aan het personeel, wordt er niks mee gedaan en word er gezegd dat het komt omdat het ‘druk is’. Geen aanrader!

Everything we ordered was not tasty, we don't understand this cuisine. And they didn't have anything else. The wine was usually tasty. The beer was usual. The place was purely for negotiations and probably breakfasts. We went in for dinner, but the choice was mostly fast food. Not that,

Vorig jaar hier een lunchgerecht gegeten, toen was het prima. Echter begin november opnieuw zelfde gerecht gekozen, maar het was een smakeloze wrap die totaal niet meer met de vorige ervaring overeen kwam. Wat ons betreft een afknapper, ondanks de verdere prima uitstraling met bijbehorende forse prijsstelling

We had a delicious meal. Staff very friendly. After each course we were asked whether we had enjoyed it, or in between. Outside on the terrace, you could sit comfortably with the terrace heating on. Highly recommended.

Dame blanche ice cream was always very good until someone else showed up and I'm going to do it differently. Dame blanche is now puding Dame Blanche instead of delicious scoops of vanilla and chocolate ice cream.

Had lunch together with friends. Very nice that there were gluten-free options. Food was good! The service a little less. Staff was friendly, but not attentive. We waited a long time for the last dish (we were 4 people and the other 3 already had something). We also went a long time without anything to drink. There were staff, but they didn't come around enough or didn't ask if everything was okay. That is something you can expect.

I like going to this restaurant, but tonight the food was very disappointing. I ordered a mixed grill, there was a small piece of steak, 2 small tasteless chicken and a few pieces of spare ribs, so very dirty and dry. Price almost €30, really not worth it.

Had lunch last Friday. Reserved window table was not honoured. The wrong soup was brought, after asking three times we got buttermilk, and when the tea was brought the waiter said; 'enjoy the early gray' 😂😂😂.

A very lovely spot for lunch, the staff are so kind, the food is spectacular. We recommend the meatball sandwich and the salmon wrap. Our waitress was incredible, she was so prompt and dealt with my partners very cheesy jokes. It was also great value for money! All in all couldn't recommend a spot more!

Service wasn't fast, and we had to wait a very long time for our food. The food itself: Nachos with chicken were okay, as was the chicken sandwich. The beef salad had way too much oil and lettuce. The homemade kibbeling was disappointing in terms of quantity; it was more like fries with a few pieces of fish. We've had better portions.

Never before had such grumpy service! Every question was too much, and everything took ages, even though it wasn't busy. One waitress, in particular, who was "serving" our table, was rude and grumpy. I've never experienced this before.

September 8, 2024, we had a wonderful meal on the terrace with dishes from Josper. Earlier… We had a wonderful time on the terrace at this new addition to Groningen city. A beautiful restaurant, with a wide selection of lunch, dinner, and snacks, and above all, delicious pastries. Friendly service. We will definitely make a reservation for lunch or dinner soon. Highly recommended! Update October 2, 2021: We had a great lunch inside, as it was quite busy. The service wasn't really under control. The cappuccino was better this time.

Had a drink on the terrace of Willem Albert this afternoon. We could really sit there comfortably. The price of the iced coffee was also on the menu, and was pretty standard. But the price and types of soft drinks were not mentioned on the menu. I was quite shocked when I paid. 😵‍💫🤪😪 €4.80 for 200 ml of soft drink. 😰😱 I really don't think that's normal! You can just moisten your mouth with 200 ml. That's a child's bottle, nothing more. Luckily there were ice cubes in the glass, so the total was just a little bit more. Now I also understand why you can't see the price in advance. If I had seen the price in advance, I wouldn't have ordered anything. I really think it's outrageously expensive. 😚😡😭

We had burgers, salad, and fries. Everything was very good and plentiful, so we were really full. The staff was attentive and friendly.

Well, the service was always a mistake. Something to eat is scarce. There was no atmosphere, few people inside. There was air conditioning inside so it was nice and cool to sit. Outside 30 degrees.

For my birthday, I booked high tea with 9 people. We really enjoyed the delicious types of tea and all the goodies (homemade scones, savory sandwiches with tuna and chicken fillet, smoothie, yogurt and a variety of luxury pastries). We were seated in the private dining area, which is very nice with a larger group with a beautiful view of the Forum. We will definitely come back again. Thanks for the good service!

A lovely place, especially in the evenings. The food is delicious and the service is attentive. However, there are sometimes quite long waits for service.

The food was very good, but a bit pricey for Groningen. The staff did their job, but I don't think they really enjoyed working in the hospitality industry. They were very businesslike, distant, and quite disinterested.

Ja! Prima plek op het terras. Echt super fijn en mooi uitzicht. Heerlijk vertoeven en de service is uitstekend. Vriendelijk en van mooie klasse. Kwaliteit van het eten (lunch) was goed en vers. Smaakvolle combinaties! Ik heb een kleine tip. Maak het terras rookvrij. Er zat een gast te roken en vele hadden er last van. Dit terras verdiend gewoon rookvrij te zijn!

Restaurant in the central square of Groeningen, clean, fast and friendly service, ate the hamburger, very good.

We had dinner here tonight, the service was not good. We had to wait a long time each time for someone to come by, but no one came. The plates were left on the table for too long, we had to ask the waiter each time to take the plates away, or we could order something. Not once are you asked if everything is to your liking. And we think that's a shame, even though there were a lot of employees walking around. And the communication was not good either.

Nice modern café with an excellent menu. The young woman who helped us was just a bit too chatty and friendly for me. When we indicated that the soup was quite spicy, something was done about it and it was said that it is nice for guests to indicate if something is not entirely to their liking. Tables are not too close together and prices are okay.

Have been coming regularly from the start. Always delicious. Unfortunately now a disappointment. The kibbeling has increased considerably in price. Previously in a large frying basket 11 (large) pieces of fish for €11.00 now €17.50! Fine, provided the quality and quantity are the same! Now put fish on a plate, much less and smaller pieces (more batter). Too bad, too expensive. The dessert, always super tasty, but depends on who makes it. The Farmer Girls, which normally have some Farmer Girls at the bottom and on top, only had a little bit on top and with the Hazelnut Sorbet they forgot the hazelnuts. Hope better next time!

What a large but cozy restaurant!! When we were there, everything inside and outside was full, but it ran like a well-oiled machine. Chapeau fast and friendly service and the food was great.

Located in the center of Groningen, opposite the parking building, the atmosphere is nice, fast service and friendly, the food is delicious, beautiful presentation, only the portions are a bit small, the prices are ok.

The food looked good in the display case. Unfortunately, the concept of ordering online didn't work for us, nor did the waitress who brought us the analogue menu ever come back. We left and found a wonderful restaurant in the neighborhood with attentive service.

The best place to sit for lunch, cake (delicious homemade!) or drinks (top cocktails) if you are over 30 in Groningen. Good atmosphere, good service and good food and drinks. 100% recommended, has become my go to place to take visitors.

If you are staying at the hotel and the food is included from cafe WA, then hopefully it will be reasonable for you. If you are going to dine there specifically and pay the full price, then I say don't do it.
