Cafeteria River Snack in Wijk 09 Maasplassen

The food is fast food, but also very greasy due to the use of a deep fryer. It's filling and okay for a quick snack, but not a culinary highlight. It's more functional. You place your order at the terminal, like at McDonald's, pay, and get your food as soon as it's ready. The service was very friendly, and the seating was comfortable.

Now Place de la Mayonaise 🤷 Unfortunately, this isn't a good development. Back in the days of River Snack, kids could still come in with a few euros, but now it's only card payments and they're snooped. Great fast food, good selection, plus ice cream and drinks. A few seats, some with umbrellas. Friendly staff and good prices. Everything you need for camping or water sports.

1. Ordering ONLY at the terminal (computer), and only 1 of the 2 machines is in operation! Absolutely disastrous when it's busy! Especially when older people are standing in front of the machine. 2. Card payments only, NO CASH! 3. The food was definitely better and hotter before the renovation!

Could a snack bar have a nicer location? I don't think so. Everything's perfect here, right? Location: great Service: friendly Selection: all good But I really have to make some compromises when it comes to taste. Fries: no salt Mayonnaise: awful, tasteless. They just need to invest a little more in the ingredients. Nasi schijf: okay Bamischijf: completely tasteless Frikandel: bland.... We're in the Netherlands so often, but we haven't eaten this boring in a long time. And in my opinion, that's solely due to the ingredients; everything else is simply top-notch.

Good snack bar, very nicely located, right by the water and a children's playground right next door.

Right on the water with a boat dock right outside the door. Nice as a little stopover on a trip.
