Authentic Italian food with quality ingredients, fast service, good prices, and above all, very friendly staff. The tiramisu and calzone were delicious! A must-visit if you're in Amsterdam, 10/10!

Very underrated! Great food at very affordable prices. All ingredients are fresh and you can see the food being prepared in front of you. If you go near lunch time there will be a queue but it goes rather fast.

The best Italian food in town in my opinion. I'm from Amsterdam and i go here as often as I can. You can tell they do it for the love of food not to maximize profits. Nothing beats the price/quality combination. Also they're very friendly. Ideal to get some food to go and eat it at beautiful singel canal on the other side. Grazie mile!

Bustling street deli provides the best value for money you can get in central. 16.80 for a hot slice of lasagna and two sandwiches. Dont mind the lunchtime queue. It moves quick and you'll need to the time to decide what to order. Head through the alley next door and sit by the canal to watch the boats go by with your goodies.

Fantastic lunch and easily one of the best value meals I’ve had in Amsterdam. I ordered the meat sandwich with buffalo mozzarella, added spicy salami and rocket, and it was absolutely delicious. The ingredients tasted incredibly fresh, the bread was perfect, and the combination of creamy mozzarella, spicy salami and peppery rocket worked so well together. The service was quick, prices were very reasonable, and despite being in such a busy tourist area, the quality felt genuinely authentic. It’s the kind of place that’s easy to walk past but definitely shouldn’t be missed. If you’re visiting Amsterdam and want a fresh, satisfying lunch without spending a fortune, this is the place to go. I’ll definitely be back.

Amazing Italian food and good prices!

This place makes incredible panini with top quality ingredients at an unbelievably great price. Usually there is a line to order but it moves very quickly and gives you just enough time to check the menu and decide your order. Kind and professional staff and a lot of interesting vegetarian options too!!

PLEASE NOTE: Closed until August 3rd due to vacation. So unfortunately, I found myself standing in front of a closed door today. Always delicious sandwiches here!

The cappuccino and croissant reminded me of Italia. They were both very good.

Really good, affordable italian sandwhiches - all freshly made, and I enjoyed their tiramisu a lot. There can be a bit of a line at lunchtime but the team works coordinated and fast so you'll get your food as quickly as possible and its definitely worth the wait anyways.

We stumbled across Caldi e Freddi while exploring Amsterdam after spending the day on the canals, and it ended up being one of the best meals of our trip. Coming from California, we weren’t expecting such an incredible Italian takeaway spot. The spicy salami panini was absolutely outstanding, made with fresh ingredients and packed with flavor. If you’re traveling through Amsterdam and want a quick, affordable meal without sacrificing quality, don’t pass this place by. It’s proof that some of the best food comes from the most unassuming little shops.

Amazing sandwiches, great prices.

As most of the reviews say, there was quite a line when we arrived around lunch time but it moved pretty quickly! The service was very efficient, they definitely have their process down! They had a good variety of options to choose from and the sandwich was great, definitely reminded me of our visit to Italy! We got our sandwiches to go and took them back to our Airbnb to have lunch and rejuvenate before heading back out and it was perfect!

We ordered the Cortona and the Gubbio, the Gubbio was better it had pesto on it and was more flavourful and the Cortana was fine just a bit dry. Theyre pretty good for their price, a standard sandwich for a quick lunch, although there is a line but it moves quickly theres lots of staff making the sandwiches

I ate there yesterday and I have to say, I'm thrilled! The value for money is fantastic, super fresh, crusty baguettes and a delicious tiramisu ✨ There was a long queue, but I didn't wait more than 10 minutes. I think it's amazing that the prices haven't been raised despite the increasing popularity, so everyone can quickly grab something delicious and affordable, which isn't always a given in Amsterdam. -1 star for service, though. I overheard the manager telling the lovely employee to take two slices of mozzarella from each of my baguettes 🫣 In the end, it would have actually been too much, but I was a bit taken aback, I must say. I think it was a bit odd. The pictures are of the Mondello sandwich and the tiramisu (a must-have!). Update May 29, 2026: I have to add that I've been thinking about this meal every single day since I was there 🥹 It was actually one of the best meals I had during my entire 7-day vacation, and for that price? Amazing! Next time I'm in Amsterdam, I'm definitely stopping by! 🥹🫶

It’s one of those spots you simply can NOT miss while you’re anywhere near it. Service is quick and friendly, the food is beyond tasty and cheap and the ambiance is authentic. Perfect spot.

the pizza and sandwiches were very good, and the prices were fair for the food, you get a sandwich for 4,90 euro and a big pizza square for 2.80 and you eat and get full! would come back next time!

Delicious Italian takeaway food

Me and my boyfriend went. Got 2 ciabattas for 10€. Are you joking? Best sandwich I’ve ever had in my life. Freshest ingredients. A queue but quickly handled and worth the wait anyway! When we come back to Amsterdam we will absolutely be returning. Money well spent.

Was hyped about this place by others, but was a bit disappointed. The sandwich was super super dry and there was supposed to be olive oil / lemon on it, but I guess they forgot about it. Too bad This place is open during weekdays, expect a short cue.

It's very good delicious and good price for this high quality you can order breakfast but you can order lasagne pizza and stuff like this as well it's very popular local it's in the middle of Amsterdam but you wait long in the line for your food and there are no table and chairs too sit and eat but very good food 👌

Amazing food for a great price. Italian deli style place with extensive menu and options. All food looks to be made more or less on the spot and is always fresh and tasty.

You can get tasty affordable but well made Ciabatta Sandwiches - if you pass by definitely get something to-go. The line moves pretty fast, even when the line was going all the way outside the front entrance the waiting time was ~10min.

At Caldi e Freddi, we initially found ourselves in a small queue of maybe ten people, but that didn't surprise us at all after trying the food. The food is very good, and the prices are more than fair for the quality. The ravioli weren't quite to my taste, though. I can especially recommend the homemade tiramisu. We took our food and sat down a few meters away by the canal, enjoying a leisurely meal. And we definitely weren't the only ones; many others had the same idea.

The Service was the worst I have ever experienced, they were so rude, they sreamed at me and snatched my number. The bread was completly dry and the stuffing was already really old. If you seen it on TikTok, its fake news! Dont go there!

I loved this place. The food was delicious and everything had a very authentic flavor. We ordered two sandwiches, one calzone, two cannoli, and one drink, and we were surprised to only pay €17 for everything. There was quite a queue, but the service was incredibly fast. Definitely a highly recommended place.

Went for a lunch in early Feb. Didn't get a chance to take a pic of the food as we were starving and it smelled amazing. It was also amazing. Proper Italian food thay made me miss home and my school days in Italy as a child. Food was cheap, high quality and delicious. Not surprised about the queue! Not much space to eat inside (no tables) so we had our lunch standing up. Worth it.

I never expected to find such a good Italian place outside of Italy. The takeout option is a great idea in a big city like this. I think the choice is partly due to the lack of space for tables, but objectively, the Italian food is excellent. The prices are super competitive for the city's standards, given that elsewhere, you can't even get a slice of bread for less than €15-€20. The pasta was excellent, and the pizzas were equally as good. Highly recommended! 🇮🇹

Brilliant little Italian shop nestled away in the city centre. Very popular there was a que but very efficient service. The Gubbio was lovely!

I'm Italian and I immediately felt at home here, but more than for the atmosphere, it's for the use of raw materials and their quality. If you want to try an Italian sandwich, stop by here, try the bresaola :)

A place that sells sandwiches and a few other typical Italian dishes. The food is good; we ordered two sandwiches, water, and a Coke for about €10, an unbeatable price both for Amsterdam and the world. The place doesn't have any seating or modern furnishings, but you go there for a taste of Italy, so who cares! The only downside is that there's no seating inside, considering the weather is always awful in Amsterdam. However, 1) the prices are low, and so is the food; 2) many even more expensive places don't have seating, so it's a minor issue. I recommend this place.

Probably the best sandwich in this country. Great bread, just crusty outside and soft in the middle, melts away in mouth. Ingredients fresh and tasty. Busy with often queues outside. But to be expected. Price is affordable and completely worth it.

Let's not beat about the bush here these sandwiches are the cheapest in the City and the incredibly happy fellas do not mess about, everything is made fresh right in front of you the quality is great and as of this post is €5 per sandwich be it vegan/veggie or meat, get there early as there are always queues after 9am, but they do everything so fast you'll be served before you know it.

Great and cheap Italian food here, it’s always nice to come here for a quick bite and snacks! They have many variety of sandwiches to choose from, and the various snacks like the meatball I also highly recommend.

Fantastic fresh food for next to nothing. There'll be a long line around lunchtime, but trust me, it's worth it! The moment you step inside, the rustic aroma of fresh dough greets you and your mouth starts to water. You can tell the ingredients apart, whether it's a sandwich or a pizza.

Super rustic, authentic, down to earth, so affordable, absolutely delicious, personal and just so real. I felt like I was in a well-established deli in Italy, and despite their social media fame, so unpretentious. No insta bullshit here.
