The Captain is the worst club in Breda; the DJ just talks over the music. There's also a horn that just blares through the music. So, in short, a place of crap. Only go if you're not quite up to par.

What a fantastic and cozy Dutch pub! The service was excellent. As a stranded Belgian, I ended up here last night, and it was truly a fantastic evening!

Bachelor party concluded after a day in Breda. Great nightlife, but the restrooms are a disaster; they could definitely use a makeover.

Recently, a very large group went to De Kapitein for a bachelorette party. We booked the erotic meal for €80 per person because we were also having a stripper. It took a long time to arrive; it was definitely not worth the price—it was too little and nothing special. The erotic element turned out to be two men who put on a little show before serving shirtlessly. After the main course, they had a game where the women were spanked with a kind of paddle, with the idea being that we had to decide who gave the best spanking. The spanking was so intense that we still had bruises for days. That's not fun, if you ask me! I emailed De Kapitein about it, but apparently, a reply was too much to ask. Furthermore, I find €9.80 for a mixed drink absolutely absurd. All in all, very poor. I wouldn't recommend anyone to go to De Kapitein in Breda.

They don't keep their agreements. Absolutely avoid them.

Last year, a weekend in November 2024, I celebrated a bachelor party at De Kapitein. We arranged drinks and tables in advance with the owner. He did a fantastic job and provided everything. No complaints. Until... at a certain point, the security guards really got their heads around it. The owner introduced me to security early in the evening so that if anything happened, we could handle it calmly and avoid any hassle. What did security suddenly do after a few hours of partying? They threw one of the bachelors out like trash (who was drunk, admittedly). I wanted to follow along and discuss it, but their two brains still hadn't figured out how to "communicate," and instead of de-escalating, they escalated the whole thing with their heavy-handed approach. Two outright bullies with small penis syndrome who thought it was a good idea to confront about 40 men instead of just talking to me. And then you step outside and there are another 10 police officers waiting for that drunk guy who'd still done nothing but be drunk... Apparently, the Breda police are a bunch of toddlers who like to assert themselves and, instead of communicating, immediately start hitting people with their bikes (you have to be a bike police officer to have "loser" written on your forehead) and pushing them away. They're looking for a reaction, hoping someone would do something so they could start a fight and make an arrest. Unseen jellyfish. The police are your friend, right? Fortunately, it didn't get to that point, since we're all decent people, but what incredibly poor souls there in Breda when it comes to security and law enforcement. But a big thumbs up to the men in the white jackets (city guard?), they were the reason everything turned out well. They also said that the police seem to enjoy this, so if you're going to Breda, keep that in mind. Everything is on film. We started filming when we noticed that the police weren't there to help, but were there to harass and provoke further aggression. Great weekend, great start to the evening, incredibly mediocre end to the evening, but this is apparently how it goes there. A tip if you don't want to go home disappointed... look for other places. The two stars are for owner John, who loses the other three because of the behavior of his security and the consequences of their actions on our evening.

Recently celebrated my girlfriend's bachelor party here, it was a great success! They really did everything they could to make us happy, the cocktail workshop was given by Coco, what a nice guy! Then we went to eat and one thing was even tastier than the other. Then the stripper came, and that really completed the evening. After all that we partied and had a very pleasant evening.

Had a party here on Saturday evening and the atmosphere was good, nice music. The toilet smelled really bad and there were no wipes wiped over tables inside at night. That means in a café with a lot of shots that you become a sticky mess, but I think this is just part of it!

Ate here yesterday and hung my coat somewhere as the cloakroom was not yet open. Coat then lost, probably stolen. Owner downright antisocial and unwilling to provide any assistance. Then the bouncer yells at me like I'm some idiot. I realize that they could not do anything about this theft, but the way they acted was substandard.

They didn't allow us to go in just because we are not Dutch. Then they act surprised when one leaves a bad review on Google, and instead of acknowledging or trying to give a plausible explanation, they complain about such a bad review and try to come up with a ridiculous excuse, replying as if you are a 6 years old who does not understand anything about life (see their replies to the comments above). The purpose of a review is precisely to give an idea to users of your personal experience. Moreover, reviews should encourage bars, restaurants or clubs to learn from their mistakes, improve and, ultimately, offer better products and services in the future. Instead, they urge you to contact them directly through their website and avoid "making a scene" on Google, joking about it with absolute presumption. Their incapacity to accept criticism says very much about this place and its owner.

If you are not an acquaintance of the King of the Netherlands, you cannot enter. Especially if you are from another country, even if you know the king of the Netherlands, you will never get in.

The sound quality inside was poor and the room was very stuffy. The staff was rude and showed little respect for customers. I was disappointed with my experience and don't plan on going again

Denied entry after checking my ID because I was not Dutch. Racist behavior. The funny thing is the explanation given: you are not a couple (we were 2 men). At least be direct about the fact that you are racist it and don’t create lame excuses.

Everything was fine until some rasist Japanese appeared and because we foreigners wanted us to free up seats for others or leave. But everything else is amazing security, bartenders, DJ 👌

You can leave your coat behind for a fee and you will not get it back

The people at the entrance are very racist. Update During our recent visit, we were denied entry after presenting our IDs, with the doorman explicitly citing our nationality. We were three polite women. This contradicts the inclusive values your bar stands for.

Very cozy atmosphere and enjoyable music! Staff is friendly and the barmaids look nice. It can sometimes be very warm inside and the beer is quite pricey.

Heerlijk feest gehad van vrienden. Alles was in overvloed. Goede en gezellige bediening..alleen wil ik een tip mee geven beter de glazen spoelen ipv de vaatwasser..het bier was snel lauw..

Hadden er voor 2u onbeperkt BBQ en 3u onbeperkt drank gereserveerd. BBQ is een soort cooker op tafel. 4 soorten vlees, 1 vis. 2 vlees waren gemarineerd en vond niemand van de groep lekker. Frietjes waren ook gekruid wat maakten dat sommige deze ook niet lustte. Koude groentjes waren oké en dan nog groentjes voor op Cockerill was ook oké. Setting viel heel erg tegen. Oorverdovende luide muziek van bar bij inkom botste tegen de muziek van onze plaats. Niet fijn voor de oren, gesprek was onmogelijk. Tafel werd belicht door allerlei kleurenspots. Moesten via gsm belichten om even te checken of ons vlees/vis gaar was... Drank werd wel goed koel bediend. Bediening was overigens heel vriendelijk en hulpvaardig. Van de wc's verbonden aan de eetplaats waren we gedegouteerd. De andere, verbonden aan de bar gelukkig iets beter. Voor ons 7 vrouwen vonden we het een duur concept voor dit geheel.

Perfect voor een Zatte avond met vrienden, bier kan je hier gewoon per bak bestellen als je wil 🤣🥳

Wij hadden met 20 man een vrijgezellefeest en gingen erotisch tafel bbqen. Na alle recensies waren we wat huiverig. Maar het was echt Heeel prima! Tafel stond netjes klaar. Meteen werd ons om drinken gevraagd, tafel bbques kwamen op tafel evenals stokbrood met kruidenboter. Schalen met vlees (kipsate, kipfilet, zalm, spare, varkensfilet) salade friet mayonaise en ketchup. Niet super uitgebreid maar echt helemaal prima qua afwisseling, versheid en voldoende vaak aanvulling! De sfeer was heel goed, zodat je iig niet in gaat dutten tijdens het diner, het was er wat warm maarja das logisch met de tafel bbq's. Behulpzaam personeel en super gezellig ober aan tafel! Echt een aanrader met grote groepen (vrijgezellenfeeste oid) vanaf 21:30u gingen wij meteen door naar het cafe waar het volledig feest was en een heerlijk avond hadden met elkaar!

Weer een heerlijke middag en avond gehad met Hemelvaart bij de kapitein!

vrijgezellenfeesten zijn hier massaproductie. Verwacht geen hoogstaand eten en service, maar ze doen wel wat veel grote groepen nodig hebben: all-in eten en meteen feest in de kroeg.

Gezellig cafe echt een aanrader

Leuke tent, interieur inclusief licht, geluid en overige aankleding is top. Vriendelijk personeel en je wordt vrij vlot geholpen aan de bar. Echter €10 entree vragen, hier zit dan wel 1 bier/fris/wijn bij en bewaakte garderobe, vind ik wat minder. Aanbod kwa drank is ook niet je van het, zo worden er geen cocktails bereid, louter het doorgaans kroegen aanbod. Overige zaken als muziek en portiers zijn netjes geregeld. Ik zou hier nog wel eens terug gaan maar dan wel met bedenkelijk oog.

Geweldige tijd gehad! Altijd gezellig hier. Fijn personeel alles goed geregeld. Blijf zo door gaan.

Voor een gezellig avondje stappen in Breda, moet je echt bij de Kapitein zijn.

Beetje Skihut idee. Naar mijn idee iets teveel. Te druk en veel lamme studenten. Uitsmijters zijn daarentegen wel weer super relaxed!

Mijn vader heeft daar een optreden gehad en het was suppper en bovendien als je niets te doen hebt dan kun je naar de barman toe gaan en vragen of hij trucjes kan.(Mijn vaders band heet VANAVOND NIET SCHAT) een super leuke en gezellige band dus een weekend niks te doen kijk dan of vanavond niet schat speelt en je hebt een hele leuke avond, mijn vader is de bassist met de basgitaar

We hebben een heel gezellig vrijgezellenavond gevierd met goed eten en drinken....

Goed vermaakt, leuke tent, prima muziek.

Gezellig café met iedere zondagmiddag livemuziek van tribute bands. Gratis entree.

We hebben er heerlijk gegeten en de bediening was super. De sfeer is ook top. Zeker een aanrader om heen te gaan
