Cosy place for a morning coffee in Amsterdam I had the croissant and jam which tasted light and delicious In a cold day it’s a good option to sip your coffee while overlooking the busy streets outside

I stayed 4 days only in Amsterdam and visited it twice. Pastrami sandwich was brilliant. We also tried the pancakes. Staff are so friendly. Great location and d view when u se outside♥️ Will visit again, i really love the place though I forgot my mirror on the table outside😣☺️

Carstens Café is a nice place to eat at. The food was tasty, and portion sizes were good. The restaurant also is in a nice location, and the outdoor seating was a plus. The only issue I had was regarding my food allergies. I told the staff about my allergies while ordering, and while they noted them, the meal I received still contained my allergens. As soon as I got the food, I immediately told them, and they asked the kitchen for a list of ingredients used. When I confirmed I was allergic to the meal they fixed the issue quickly. When I got a new meal, I enjoyed it. If you eat here, make sure to double-check your meal if you have dietary restrictions. Overall, Carstens Café is a good restaurant in a nice location, with good food, but make sure to confirm any dietary restrictions.

A pretty good brunch spot, although the price was a bit steep. I ordered the toast with three eggs and ham. The total was €18, including a coffee and the toast. Some friends had a croissant and said they didn't like it.

Typical tourist cafe near the train station. The breakfast options were very limited, but the terrace was unbeatable for people-watching. Food was OK, service was OK, everything else depends on your preferences.

We visited this restaurant recently. Our own food and service were fine, but something happened at the table behind us that really bothered me. A female waitress had offered extra strawberries to that table, but didn’t bring enough. When they asked another waiter about it, he was incredibly rude. He told them they could go buy strawberries themselves from a nearby supermarket and even asked if they needed directions. It felt humiliating and totally unnecessary, he could have just explained that they’d run out. Worse, he started loudly telling other staff around the restaurant about the “strawberry incident,” making it a big joke. After witnessing this, I was honestly too nervous to order anything else because I didn’t want to end up treated like that. It’s a shame, because the food was decent. But I’m hesitant to come back if this is how some of the staff treat customers.

Bad experience because they said we’re close at 5:00pm Sunday and I came at 4:00pm and some staff said we’re close you cannot come in I said why still 4:10pm they said today we will close at 4:00pm !!!

Friendly service, menu had changed and breakfasts options seemed limited. Seemed quiet, nice coffee. Didnt eat here in the end

The salmon is delicious. This little restaurant is very well located, served quickly with quality ingredients. The plates are simply enormous, and the value for money is perfect. The only slight drawback is that the orange juice and smoothies aren't homemade, but honestly, that doesn't mean I won't go back on my next visit!

It is located right beside the Park Plaza Victoria Amsterdam hotel, within walking distance to all the major attractions. Food is of generous in portions, coffee tasted perfect. Very clean. The service person maybe in a hurry, coffee and tea were not served by a tray as for other guests, almost sliding to position, as well as the cutlery, very casually thrown / dropped on the table for us to grab. We were there for the food, which was pretty good. That’s all we care.

First time we enjoyed a lot but our second time it was a little disappointing because it looked like their standard for the american pancakes has dropped a lot.

Nice, quaint place near Amsterdam Centraal- would have loved to try the food but I think the kitchen was closed as we arrived rather late in the day. Loved the mango smoothie and the polite staff.

Coffee was very tasty, unfortunately we had to wait a little longer.

To pass the time before departure and to escape from the wind and rain, I came across Carstens by chance. The service was very friendly and the atmosphere was very inviting. The cafe latte was particularly tasty. There was also a grilled cheese. Everything was very fresh and delicious.

Great place to stay while waiting for your train. However in winter it can feel cold at some point, not heavily heated. Food & smoothies were very tasty. Huge disappointment in the smell of that place, smells the toilets all over the room, disgusting when you eat.

A delicious English breakfast, not only did I enjoy the food but I also found the place very cute and cozy. Recommended (I told the waiter to have Satispay app installed for smoother payments)

I visited way before 17:00 for a planned 1 afterwork drink "Grolsch". The person behind the bar did not even notice me coming in or standing in front of the bar, nor tried to look up. I said "hello". I was told they had already closed, and they will open again tomorrow at 9. According to google the place is supposed to be open till 18:00. I will not return. Extremely disappointing service

A hidden gem! Great food, nice music, very friendly staff! Was quite empty for Sunday afternoon which was great for us! Really deserves much more interest. American breakfast is amazing

A Meh experience. The music is great, but one part of the order was completely forgotten and then the food was not great (had an English Breakfast). They may have rushed the cooking (the sausages were not really well cooked), but when you wait more than 30 minutes for a plate, you expect the plate to be taken care of properly. The staff was nice even though the waiter did not really seem to own up to making a mistake.

The fact that they charge 4 Euro for a glass of tap water is crazy.

Nice cafe for a cheeky rest and beer during sightseeing of Amsterdam.

My favourite spot, I always stopped by this cafe on the way out or into the central station, just amazing, you could spend 2 hours spectating the whole city passing in front of you. The drinks and food are top quality, the staff are very friendly and always smiling

Waiting 1 hour for cold food in a portion that wouldn't even be enough for a mouse. I got the American breakfast and got 2 cold and too hard bacon's with a scrambled egg yolk. The bread is as hard as a rock and completely unusable and the pancakes also taste like they came straight from the Rewe market. Not recommended unless you want to make your day a little worse

Slowest service ever. We waited over 35 minutes to place our lunch order but the servers were nowhere to be seen. Stay away unless you have 3 hours to waste here.

Very nice place but bad service. If we hadn't called they wouldn't have served us, I ordered a Dutch breakfast that consisted of 2 breads, 3 eggs and roast beef. The bread was bad, if it had been toasted things would have been better, the fried eggs were overcooked, and the roast beef was very bland. One of the people I came with ordered the English breakfast and a little better, regular beans, good sausages, and a nice black sausage, and the toasted bread. Ignoring everything, the Latte was good. 4/10

A strawberry smoothie poured our of a sealed bottle and was charged 5€ for 150ml. Girl if you have to pour out smoothie from a 3 eur botel then don't do it at all. I could have gone to a grocery store

I was here for a quick lunch stop and had the Dutsch sandwich with roast beef and a latte. The coffee and the food was ok, but the atmosphere was comfy and quiet, and the staff very friendly.

While passing through Amsterdam, we stopped at this pretty café. Very well received, the staff are very kind and attentive. The drinks were great! Not too sweet and generous. (great value for money) Great time ! I advise !

Lovely cafe with a super nice view and location facing Amsterdam Centraal. Very cozy and we did not have to wait or make a reservation to get a table. We had their mango passionfruit smoothie which was really good and refreshing, we did not have the opportunity to try any food as their kitchen was closed by the time we were there (around 4:20 pm). They closed at 6 pm.

The Tomato Soup was very average, and not tasty. The "Sloppy Joe" position in the menu, which is a hamburger and fries, was served cold, and not good.

We went to Carstens Café yesterday for a coffee/sandwich at lunchtime. The pumpkin spice latte was amazing! The service was very nice. And the location is central. You can see the hustle and bustle from a distance in the comfortable armchairs. What we were unfortunately disappointed with was the “sandwich”, which unfortunately didn't taste good and we expected a lot more from it. We would have deducted 1.5 stars for that.

Great little cafe across from Centraal Station to stop by for a bite, coffee, or a glass of wine. Given its location near Centraal Station and the busy surrounding area, this place is a great oasis. The friendly staff make for a young hip vibe, and the music and ambiance are great! Get yourself a coffee and a window seat and indulge in some interesting people watch.

Popped in for a beer and snacks, we were not disappointed! The staff were super friendly and helpful, helping us to decide on cheese sticks and beef croquettes. Both were appreciated along with the seasonal grolsch beer 😋👍 Highly recommended.

Perfect place to stop for brunch whilst waiting for your connecting train at Amsterdam Centraal. Food and drinks were fabulous and great friendly service. Just wished we had a little longer to stay and enjoy for longer.

Although it is located in the centre and in the direct eyesight at the entrance of the city, modest decoration hides this gem. My experince was experimental but concluded with an highly satisfactory rating for a superb breakfast. Don’t miss this chance to try Shakshuka.

Not sure why most images are of a different cafe, but given the name is Carsten Cafe I assume this is the right place for a review. In short, the atmosphere is nice, the decoration is really good, music is chill and not loud at all, and the staff is very nice! However I was met with disappointment as they didn't have any food to offer at the time (18) since the kitchen was closed. For all I know this may be more of a case for the city rather than just this cafe specifically, so I'm not taking away many points for that, but I was a bit disappointed. Here's a few extra notes: Decoration: Clean, lots of light browns and beiges with green. Pleasant ambience to be in. Music: Calm music and at the perfect volume to not bother conversations but still fill the silence. Service: Polite and kind. Both waiters I spoke to speak English. Bathroom: Noted that there's 1 bathroom for gentlemen and 2 for women, which is interesting to see, and considering past experiences going to the women's bathroom it's good to have more since one tends to be occupied. They're small but do their job, however one og the bathroom's faucet was broken which was a bit of an inconvenient.

We absolutely loved our totally spontaneous stop at Carsten Cafe, and would love to return to this place!

They let my kid to sleep on the couch for a while afternoon without questions asked. Very nice people and nice coffee.
