Chef GJ in Wijk 00 Waalre

The staff was on the phone, the chef apparently had a few friends visiting, so the guests had to wait a while, and we must have been really desperate before we could go there.

Great apple cake. Great green thee. Nice workers. Nice boss in kitchen. “Le Chef”

My first visit to this restaurant was with my colleague for a Christmas dinner. My initial impression was that I could smell a lovely seafood aroma while walking to the restaurant from a nearby housing estate where I parked my car, a six-minute walk away. Upon entering, I was greeted warmly by the server who was taking my jacket. The environment was nice and cosy. We were offered a small bite of an appetizer and ordered a Proeverij Lugar as our starters. My view of the Proeverij Lugar, which came with a very small portion and a small bowl of tasty soup probably only a few spoonfuls, was not worth the money, despite being very tasty. For the main course, we chose the Portuguese seafood platter (Prato del mar Cataplana - Portugese vispan gevuld met kreeft, scampi, coquille, mosselen, oester en reuzengarnaal geserveerd met spaghettini aioli). It looked fantastic, with half a lobster per person. The taste was good, especially the broth, which we did not realise until we had finished half the bowl. It came with spaghetti, but if it had been served with broth, it would have been more delicious. Overall, the food was nice and complemented the cosy atmosphere. We had to pay €70 ++ per person which I think is too much.

I saw the female owner washing glass in the sink without rinsing again. So these glasses we drink remain cleanser (bubbles) on the surface of glass.

We had a delicious meal, the service was great. We'll definitely be back.
