Chinees-Indisch Restaurant De Roos in Wijk 06 Nijmegen-Zuid

The food was delicious, but unfortunately, we received a bowl of nasi instead of the bami we ordered. We ended up with three bowls of nasi, a bit much. The atmosphere... It's a Chinese takeout place, what can I say? It looked great.

Had the Singapore Mihoen, it was great.

Picked up a set menu on Saturday, it was delicious and sufficient, the dishes were well prepared and tasty.

I've lived in the Nijmegen area my whole life (54 years) and am a huge fan of foreign food, including so-called Dutch Chinese dishes. I've also tried almost every restaurant in the area. Roos is definitely the best restaurant for takeout. Delicious flavors and crispy where it should be. Highly recommended! The attached photos are menu A and B, both for two people, with the option of two Nasi this time, so that's for a total of 4 people, including the famous long prawn crackers. It was delicious again! After a day of work, a delicious meal for two with vegetarian nasi goreng, foe yong hai, tjap tjou, and gado gado. Fast and friendly service, on the table within 10 minutes. Excellent!

Just a very good Chinese restaurant

Just got a monthly menu for 2 people and extra tenderloin at De Roos. Terrible! It has no taste at all. The sauces are watery and the tenderloin looks like pieces of a chamois cloth!! We used to think it was great, but since the takeover there is nothing left of it! 2x after takeover, 2x scandalous!!! Never come there again!!!!

Sinds nieuwe eigenaar ronduit slecht. Waterige sauzen. Totaal geen smaak aanbhet eten. Ossenhaas lijkt wel stukjes zemen lap! Schandelijk!!!

We have bought food at "de Roos" twice in the last two weeks. Bami and spring rolls. It was absolutely good and delicious. The only point of criticism is that there was very little prawn crackers.

With the new owner it's over for me with Roos 🌹 not only the taste but also the presentation of the food is a reason for me not to come again after 30 years. Last Thursday evening the Indian rice table was mainly salty. The once delicious nasi was full of unappetizing brown fatty meat, not tender white meat as we are used to from Roos. There was also no Indian taste through all the salt. What really closed the door was that there was no babi pangang. While this is stated on the menu, the price was also more than advertised. This incident is not an isolated incident. In recent months we have often had concerns about Roos' taste and choice of meat. Roos is no more, tribute to the old owner who always made every meal festive and tasty.

After reading reviews I'm unsure... Ordered the monthly menu anyway. Nassie has been cooked for too long and or cheaper rice has been used, which makes it mushy, not loose dry fried grains of rice. The noodles are also a bit smaller, drier and just like the nasi, it lacks taste... less fat in it? The babi pangang is dry and overcooked. Overall edible but far from excellent. Leftovers also not kept. Last time for me...

We have been coming here for years, but today was the last time for us. The babi pangang was inedible. Huge fat, no atjar, etc. Found out that it had been taken over, I just think they forgot about the quality during the takeover.

We've been four more times since it's been under new ownership. The quality cannot be compared to the previous owner. Bami is bland. Rames meat, the only thing we tasted was salt salt salt and I could go on and on. Rames meat was really inedible and we threw it away. It's a pity that they have not maintained the old recipes, because this is the reason that people from far and wide come to Chinese De Roos. For us it is a shame but unfortunately it was the last time.

September 2024 Just picked up food from the new owner of Roos again and I am completely happy. The food tastes like old times again. The rice, babi pangang, everything is the same as before the takeover. Perhaps in July the new owner still had to look for the right choices as a recipe for the restaurant. But I can now heartily recommend Roos again. July 2024 I came here for over 20 years, but immediately noticed that something had changed in the food. The rice has changed, has become enormous sticky rice. No more nice dry granules. The babi pangang is also no longer edible. Bad meat and bad sauce. Roos was the best Chinese in Nijmegen, was a bit more expensive than the competition, but I was happy to pay more and drive a bit. That time is over. The new owner has raised prices even further and cut back on quality. They won't see me again!

We have ordered from Orient Plaza for 10 years. The quality deteriorated considerably and we stopped making them. We ordered food from De Roos, and it was really great. From now on order from Roos. I never wrote a review, but this was worth it to silence negative comments. The food is really delicious.

We had a delicious meal at De Roos today. The portions were large and the employees friendly.

Last week I ordered my favorite menu no. 55 with noodles, but unfortunately I was very disappointed by the quality. I found out that the restaurant was taken over without this being announced. The noodles from my favorite menu had no taste at all. The meat of the babi pangang was fatty and very different. The pork was tough where it used to be nice and tender. There should be champions in it, but that was hardly the case. Instead of champions contained pieces of green and red peppers. The satay and sauce tasted different and bad. Too bad the quality is much worse while the price has increased. After the quality was very poor the first time after the takeover, I have now ordered twice again. Fortunately, the quality has improved considerably. So something has indeed been done with the criticism. Compliments for that.

Since there has been a new owner, the quality and price have not improved. Went there twice in the last week, both times not satisfied, paid for extra and did not receive it. I was only told that she had entered it correctly. Tried it again today, you order a large portion and then you get less than normal from the old owner and you also had to pay €8 extra for it. This was the last time for me that the Roos had been coming for more than 13 years.

Rose is no longer really rose, which is a pity

I thought it was better with more shrimp, better taste and not too greasy, the nasi was delicious. We had dinner here yesterday with a group of 6. 4 had been there before, the first time for me. In any case, I do not share the negative reviews that I read after the takeover. We ordered an Indian rice table. This arrived quickly, hot, fresh and deliciously prepared. My table companions, who had eaten here several times before, also noted that the food is still of good quality, as they were used to before. Only the menu had changed slightly, but that was all. Service is friendly and helpful. In short, I highly recommend it.

I am very reserved. We ordered food from the takeaway blindly, on advice. I also didn't read any reviews to go into it with an open mind. The noodles were okay, the foe yong hai was also fine, but the babi pangang was not what I am used to. The taste was overly 'animal' as if you were dealing with offal. I read from the reviews that the old owners deliver better quality. For now I hope that there will be more positive reviews, because then I have an idea whether I will order food again or eat in the restaurant. If it improves, I am of course willing to write a new review.

Such a shame the rose was the best Chinese restaurant in Nijmegen, the whole of Nijmegen knows this rose I have been coming here since I was little, now I got nasi with chicken, mushroom, peanut sauce, but sorry for the new owners, but it was not tasty at all, the sauce is normally translucent, now it was brown in color and not the taste as it should be or at least what we are used to... I think that unfortunately, after all the years, the Chinese also have the rose at the end, such a shame, 18 euros were thrown away 😢😢😢

We have been coming to De Roos for years, wonderful friendly people, always helpful, very good quality food, we have to drive for a while, but definitely worth it, the Chinese a little further down the street from us certainly cannot and should not match the quality of De Roos. New owner? We ordered Babi Ketjap and were asked chicken or pork?? Babi is still a pig. When we arrived home, the Babi ketjap turned out to be an unclear bowl of vegetables with fatty meat cubes....not edible... Such a waste of the good name. Close that trade

The new owner has destroyed the good reputation and delicious food in one day. The food was bland, the babi pangang uses different meat and a lot of fat. The sauce different. The daging was first as tender as it could be, now tough. Prices immediately went up. The price-quality ratio decreased to a negative point within 1 day.

The rice table was really very good. The service friendly. We were all alone in the restaurant, but a lot of things were ordered to take away.

Food too salty, zero carbonated cola. I saw this one get shocked. Was Coke Zero from Aldi...fine, but no spark at all. Narrow glasses for 4 euros. For this price you buy 6 bottles of 1.5 liters. One of the kids knocked over a glass of water. New gauze was filled at the tap for 4 euros. Maybe the takeaway is good, but it's not nice to eat here. This was the worst Chinese meal I have ever eaten. Unfortunately.

Almost nostalgically old-fashioned. Time has really stood still here. But I think that is also the charm of this tent. The food is of good quality and the portions are generous. The service is good and you will not be short of anything. The atmosphere is somewhat desolate. This was partly due to the fact that the restaurant was empty (mainly a lot of take-out), but the square where it is located also exudes faded glory. In short, a special experience. Decent Chinese. There are two entrances: one for takeaway and one to the restaurant. We were alone in the restaurant on a Sunday evening, unfortunately there was no heating. Plates weren't warmed up, the little candles under the menus didn't help. Food are generous and delicious. The service understands neither English nor German.

Waitress should speak Dutch better, the heating in the restaurant was below par and therefore I didn't even have ice cream for desert, which I have never done before. Ventilation is inadequate if steaming dishes are partly prepared at the table with a lot of steam and odor.
