Chinees restaurant Mei Wah in Bilgaard & Havankpark e.o.

The Christmas buffet was a huge disappointment. It was incredibly expensive, and the food selection was minimal. It wasn't replenished. The ice cream was in a freezer with pizza boxes and other junk. They offer you coffee, but it turns out it's just on your receipt. The staff was friendly, but we'll never come back.

Delicious food, friendly staff, pick-up is quite quick (even without calling in advance).

Great food. The wok dishes are good. The curry is nice and spicy. The regular dishes are good quality, but quite pricey.

Today I walked past the Chinese restaurant. The kitchen door was open. Luckily, there was a screen door. But what did I see?! Ugh, the containers of meat and other food were lying uncovered on the floor. Now that I've seen this, I'll never eat from there again. I filmed it, but I can't post it here.

Today, I was refused entry to this restaurant with my assistance dog. The man who spoke to me asked for proof. When I showed him an email from the organization my assistance dog is affiliated with, he immediately said, "This is not your dog." A strange comment, especially since it was clearly an official confirmation (which I wasn't obligated to show). He was very rude about it. To be clear: according to Dutch law (the Equal Treatment Act on the grounds of Disability or Chronic Illness), an assistance dog may not be refused entry in public places such as restaurants. There is no legal requirement for a collar or pass. Therefore, refusing entry constitutes discrimination. I hope this restaurant will become better informed about the rights of people with disabilities.

Excellent food and very nice service. Very quiet for a Saturday evening.

Located on the outside of a shopping center. Both takeaway and the option to eat in the restaurant. Friendly and attentive staff. A dish of tenderloin with a spicy sauce. And a combination dish with Foe yong hai, babi pangang and satay. Both dishes tasted great. Could have been a little spicier. But that's easy to add.

These people want to call the police because I order food

Just picked up, ripped for five euros. Asked about the difference, woman said look at new list and waved away. When we got home it turned out to be simply too much. Never again.

Ordered and ate Babi Pangang yesterday. Meat was fine, but sauce was different than we are used to from Mei Wah. The sauce had little flavor and lacked its red color. Is it a new recipe? New chef? New owners? Difficult to obtain the right raw materials?

Very weird atmosphere inside the restaurant. It always looks empty and there is no music, the food is way too overpriced for the amount especially when the food is just preheated and not cooked on the spot. A small plate is €15, and it doesn’t specify what you are ordering on the menu. The service also feels rushed. I wouldn’t suggest going here

Something is often forgotten to include

We have been coming here for decades and the food is good. Nothing to complain about. However, the staff charges for everything such as toilet, plastic bags, etc. This is a minus for me.

Food is ALWAYS good. Portions more than sufficient. I can't say much about the atmosphere in the restaurant because we order take-out, but the service is always friendly. Highly recommended, especially if you don't like fat in your meat. It is always super tender.

Today we got food at Mei Wah, we normally come once or twice a month and it's always good. This time the babi pangang with soy sauce was not nice and crispy and had little taste. The soy sauce also very thin. The babi pangang sauce also did not have the delicious taste that I am used to from Mei Wah. The only thing that was good was the spring roll.

had dinner here with 3 people. the food wasn't bad. but somewhat little. With your main course you get a very small bowl of nasi or noodles. 10 bites and it was gone. I thought it was a joke at first. Usually they then ask if you want some more nasi or noodles. not so. so I asked if they had some noodles or nasi for us. you get 3 more small containers. When I got home I looked at the receipt. there is an extra 5 x 1 euro for the noodles and nasi. it turned out that you have to pay 1 euro extra per container. I do not know. but 3 x 1 euro is 3 euros. once but never again. I call this writing with double pen.

Mei Wah is usually a great takeaway restaurant, but I was once pushed away during a telephone order = fewer stars for the service.

The eight of us went out for dinner at Mei Wah on Boxing Day, we opted for the buffet, what a DISASTER!!! The food was lukewarm, containers were barely refilled, the ice cream was barely scoopable, there was a layer of ice cream on top, the cream puffs were so hard... to which the waitress said they had just come out of the freezer... even the whipped cream was hard, but not because it was still frozen. You pay 8x €31.50 per person excluding drinks, which in my opinion was NOT worth it! We will never eat here again!!!

We went to Mei Wah with 5 people on Christmas Day 2023, there were 2 choices, a buffet and a menu. We decided and on the advice of the lady to take the buffet, well that was a complete disaster. The food was cold, but everything was chicken, nasi, noodles, meat satay soup, we complained and were told: We do our best, and we were also told that we should come back next time, and in a shouting way she addressed us, shouting she said that we had to pay while there were all kinds of people in the restaurant, incomprehensible and rude behavior. We hardly ate anything, Empty containers that were occasionally refilled (also lukewarm) No waitress asked us if we wanted anything to drink. Later I spoke to the gentleman from the kitchen who was also in charge there and he also started shouting, Really unprofessional to talk to your customers like that (Shouting) we were 5 people but had to pay €31.50 excluding drinks It was for almost €200 and in the end 1 person was taken away, It's not about the money for us, because it is more expensive at Christmas, but you do expect to be able to eat well at Christmas, be honest, 2 people are serving the entire restaurant, that's not possible on such an evening. It was very busy at the takeaway and they were understaffed, which caused the restaurant to neglect food. So we will never go there again It used to be good food there, but not anymore

Good food! When we got home the food was still steaming hot. While paying I forgot 50 cents and was told 'no problem, that's for next time!'. Very accommodating and I will take that 50 cents with me next time! 1 point of attention and hence 4 stars for atmosphere: while picking up I was talking about the 50 cents and was talked through it several times by a lady who had stood next to me. I didn't like this. I think she was staff? She mentioned the word 'egg roll' several times. From the serious tone in her voice, it seemed like a matter of life and death to me. Maybe a wedding ring accidentally baked into a spring roll?

Good food and you will be helped quickly, it's a pity they don't deliver at the best of times

Kom hier al jaren, lekker eten.

Goed restaurant, erg rustig doordeweeks. Eten werd redelijk vlot gebracht, en alles smaakte lekker.

Een plaats om te eten in groep niet duur en een uitgebreide keuze Zeer geschikt om iets te vieren. Heerlijk gegeten bij Mei Wah we hadden een tip pan een met ossenhaas en garnalen De saus van de ossenhaas was verrukkelijke bereid met veel groente. Mijn vriendin had zo genoten van haar maaltijd. De bediening was prima.

Voor een paar maanden terug daar gegeten. Het eten is lekker, maar Heel weinig. We gaan daar niet weer eten. Zonder van het geld.

Traditionele kaart gerechten en ruime keuze verdwenen.. Geen warmhoud platen meer ...in plaats daarvan nu een opgewarmde schotel... zeer snel lauw koud eten ... Hoeveelheid valt tegen... prijzen te hoog. Het eten zelf is prima...dat is dan een pluspunt.

Wel beter geweest, eten mag wel wat warmer.

Lekker ouderwets Chinees restaurant met gerechten zoals babi pangang en ti pan gerechten.

Lekker eten, vriendelijke mensen, uitstekende service. Wij waren er op dinsdag avond. 1 van ons kreeg het verkeerde tussengerecht en dat werd heel snel opgelost en we mochten het tussengerecht gewoon kosteloos opeten. Op een gegeven moment waren we nog maar de enigste mensen maar ze zaten ons niet weg te kijken. Is voor herhaling vatbaar!!

Was niet zo als voorheen! Is de oude eigenaar erniet meer weinig keus wat eten betrof.

Vriendelijke bediening en uitstekend eten. Een van de betere Chinese restaurants.

Wij hebben afgelopen vrijdag hier gegeten. Het was geweldig zo lekker. Tipan gerechten en de kleine meid had een kindermenu. De bediening was erg gezellig en het eten uitmuntend. Een aanrader.

Als je nog echt Chinees wilt eten dan is dit één van de laatste waar je dit nog traditioneel kunt doen. Afhalen altijd mogelijk , snel en lekker.

Dit is toch wel de lekkerste Chinees van heel Leeuwarden. Helaas geen thuisbezorgd maar, wel begrijpelijk. Dan hebben ze 15 bezorgers nodig. Haha. Altijd druk.

Was het schrijven van de review waard! Was super lekker!

Normaal ben ik niet zo'n review-schrijver maar nu maak ik graag een uitzondering. Ter gelegenheid van mijn 65e verjaardag ben ik met familie en vrienden op zondag 10 juli wezen eten bij Mei Wah in Leeuwarden. We hebben alacarte gegeten en de meesten van ons namen een 3-gangen menu. Wat een leuke avond hebben wij gehad. De bediening was vrolijk en vriendelijk, het eten ronduit super en de sfeer en inrichting van het restaurant waren eveneens prima. Ik ga er zeker nog eens terug ook al moeten we er ruim een uur voor rijden. Hetzelfde zeiden mijn kinderen die zelfs nog verder weg woonden. Kortom: Een hele leuke avond dank zij de uitstekende smaak van de gerechten en de hele leuke sfeer!

Heerlijk eten en vriendelijk personeel.

Vanavond hier gegeten met onze ouders en schoonmoeder voor onze 35 jaar huwelijksfeest echt gezellig, lekker gegeten en voortreffelijke koks en bediening. Ik kom hier zeker weer. MEI WAH het was een top avond.

Mooi sfeervol restaurant, met vriendelijk bedienend personeel. Enig minpuntje wat ik kan melden, is dat de nasi lauw van temperatuur was.

Geweldig lekker..goede porties en vers. Vol van smaak en zeker betaalbaar. Voor herhaling vatbaar.!!

Dit restaurant verdient in mijn optiek oprecht de vijf sterren. Ja, het eten is van goede kwaliteit, maar het vriendelijke personeel maakt het verschil. Bedankt voor de plezierige avond!
