Chocolate Company Café in Centrum

The staff didn't notice us; we'd been sitting outside for half an hour. New people joined us. We were still helped, but they skipped us. Four staff members, etc., it's a shame it's not a Choco Company anymore. I don't often write negative things, but train your staff and teach them how to maintain order. We also left after half an hour.

If you like chocolate, you should definitely visit here!!!! They have amazing chocolate cake (including a vegan option). The service was also really fast!

We waited half an hour for our drinks, and then they never came back to take our lunch order or take our bill. After half an hour, I went inside myself, where I found five employees in a nearly empty restaurant. We went to Walt's for lunch, where the service was good!

We visited this cafe after making a reservation, specifically to try the chocolate fondue. However, once we arrived, we were told they couldn’t serve it unless it had been requested at the time of booking, something that was never mentioned anywhere online or during the reservation process. Considering this is a chocolate cafe, it was a surprising and frustrating experience. Service overall felt disorganized. No one acknowledged us when we arrived, and one older staff member was quite rude, even snapping at us while we were trying to find our reserved table. We were also met with resistance when trying to place a stroller near our table, which felt unnecessarily difficult, especially since the cafe wasn’t even busy. The only positive was one friendly staff member with short blonde hair, she was calm, helpful, and made sure we got the fondue we came for. Without her, we likely would’ve left. The fondue itself was nice, but unfortunately, the customer experience overshadowed that. I wouldn’t recommend this cafe based on how we were treated, and I personally wouldn’t return.

Super cozy atmosphere! And one waitress in particular with dark hair had a very cheerful and sweet appearance. Estimated her to be about 16 years old! But she did it so nicely.

I have read many negative reviews on Google Maps about the Chocolate Company café, especially about the service, but since I love chocolate and could use some chocolate, I decided to experience it for myself. I went for the Killer Brownie and a decaf coffee with caramel I believe. I just don't remember exactly what the coffee is called and I can't find the menu on the site. I have to say that I found that irritating beforehand because I like to see what they have in advance. The drink was fine. The Killer Brownie was 100% disappointing. Afterwards I really regret eating it, but you're hungry and you already ordered it anyway, so you eat it. There was hardly any taste to it. I didn't think it was fresh either, but maybe that was due to the lack of flavor. Especially in a chocolate bar you expect a chocolate-based cake to be super tasty. The coffee was fine. My girlfriend went for a sandwich and I thought it was fine too. I was very pleased with the staff after reading the reviews. There was 1 English-speaking staff member and I found him very nice. The other one also tried very hard to be nice, although you could see that she had to make an effort. Maybe it's because I assumed the worst. Still, I wouldn't come back there anytime soon. Not because of the staff but because of the Brownie which was really disappointing and the coffee which in my opinion was fine, but you can get that anywhere. Other than that, there wasn't anything that particularly stood out that really kept me coming back. Legend: 1) Terrible! I don't recommend it, I will never come back! 2) Too bad, below my expectations, I won't come again. 3) Ok, nothing wrong with that, but nothing special, nice for once. 4) Fine, worth coming back. 5) Excellent! I recommend, I will definitely come back!

Ate here today with our family. Children ordered first, lady says to come back for our order. Not seen again. Normally I wouldn't write a reference about this but this is the second time. This is also the last time we ever come here. With that strange we choose your bread, daughter always eats white bread but no they now choose white bread. Interesting business. So again a deception, avoid!

Cute little cafe in the pedestrian zone of Arnhem. Food and drinks are affordable. The toilets clean. The chocolate specialties that are also available to take away are worth highlighting.

Went with my girlfriend for a nice chocolate milk and pie. It was awesome and I loved the atmosphere, staff and location. It’s one of my guilty pleasures - chocolate 😋

My wife and I randomly walked in while strolling the streets of Arnhem, very excited to order cannoli and coffee, until the old lady with glasses at the counter hit us with the “sit down and order at the table” situation (in dutch). No english, very rude attitude, like we were bothering her for being there. We sat down and waited about 8 minutes to get our order, as we knew exactly what we wanted. I have no idea why we couldn’t order at the bar, there was no queue and nothing else to do. What a weird encounter, and slow staff, no smiles no thank you no nothing. Like they are doing you a favor. Super weird establishment. The tiramisu (not really a tiramisu, as there’s no mascarpone in it and no liquor) and cannoli was way too sweet for our taste, but the cappuccino and carrot cake were delicious. Most likely will never come again.

It is a nice inviting place with very tasty and unique hot chocolate. The chocolate they sell also has good prices. Been twice now, the first time two weeks ago it was fine, but today's customer friendliness could be a notch higher. If you come in and want to order at the counter, you are not allowed to do so if you want to sit inside with a slightly older lady. “Then you should sit down” is what they say even though they have nothing to do at that moment and all this without even greeting you. The table is 1 meter away from the counter and you have to give your order again to another young waitress. Also at checkout you don't get a "thank you, did you enjoy it or have a nice day" as is standard customer-friendly at restaurants and shops. It's also strange that they indicate that you are not allowed to use a laptop in a coffee/chocolate café. As a result, you lose customers who want to work there for a few hours and have a drink in the meantime. Seems a bit unfriendly. Nice place but definitely some room for improvement from the owner in the service.

Terrible service!!! Dear people, this way your business will not continue for so long. You exist for the customers and BY the customers. So please first learn to be friendly and customer-oriented! We had fifteen minutes to spare with my girlfriend, so we wanted to quickly order a few cappuccinos at the bar. An elderly lady was not happy to see us but when she heard my accent she completely ran away (really???) Racism and chocolate: what do they have in common? A young girl was very sweet (I wish her the best of luck there). We will never come back and neither will our friends. The worst thing in Arnhem.

I've been here twice now, and unfortunately this time I had a bad experience. Two waitresses notice me at the table but do not dare to ask if I'm ready to order. So I decide to go to the kassa to order. I get a very dull "Hi". And the waitress kinda rolls her eyes while I'm ordering. Then doesn't proceed to thank you or anything in return. An older waitress brings the drink for me at the table but doesn't smile or take any eye contact. Just kinda dumps the drink and says "you're welcome". I also noticed that a girl sitting next to me at another table doesn't get to order anything until 30 minutes later. She waits and waits. Finally, a younger girls comes take her order but doesn't understand the menu or that this girl has a nut allergy. Today's customer service was very unprofessional...

The more chocolate cafes the better. The formula is good. But please fix it with the door closer. It doesn't have to close all the time...

Walked in here over the weekend. Nice place with tasty coffee and snacks, but the atmosphere was terrible upon entering. I think one or two younger ladies were brought in, and they were quite snubbed. They didn't have time for coffee to go, you were allowed to sit down if you could find a seat, this was announced in an unfriendly tone by a manager. Finding a spot was quite difficult, many of the tables had reserved signs on them, I doubt whether this was actually reserved, but I understand if you can't handle the crowds. All of this kind of misses the point if hospitality is your business. Tip: deploy/train inexperienced staff at quiet times, which is pleasant for the staff to come in and pleasant for the customers. The tone in which announcements are made could use a little more patience and friendliness.

Excellent coffee and chocolate products, but the owner has absolutely no knowledge when it comes to hospitality! Today we had 3 staff to serve 6 tables outside. We preferred to sit inside, because it was getting a bit chilly outside, but every table had a "reserved" sign on it. They do this preventively because they don't want you to sit inside. None of these tables are actually reserved. In other words, we asked to be allowed to take a seat inside and received a grumpy "no". And while there were actually 3 people sitting at a table inside. Just really bizarre. We regularly went on Sundays and it is always the best tables that they put on reserve as a preventive measure and the fewest tables that they leave available. At first I thought that these tables were really reserved, but after sitting until closing time at 5 p.m. about 5 times while each of these tables remained empty, I asked about it. “We don't want people sitting down,” was the response. And that for a place where they may have 20 tables, while there are 3 or 4 staff members walking around. The way in which you are snubbed as a guest is particularly scandalous! I've given it a chance about 10 times, but it's only okay when the owner is not at work. So if you see a shabby woman in her 60s, keep walking!

Toasti is made of tough bread, cheese not melted, sauce is forgotten and in the end it is not enough, there was a hard stick in my sandwich. Not worth repeating!

Nice coffee to sit outside or inside. The service was very friendly and brought the things quickly. I had a toastie Kip Caprese and an ice latte. She recommended that I use a sauce with the toastie and I then used the curry sauce. The toastie was very tasty and everything was fresh and the ice latte was also very good. August 7, 2024, had delicious coffee and carrot cake, sat outside and a nice girl who helped us, super friendly.

Worst service I ever experienced. I was with 2 small kids, and I sat at the tables with sofa seats in the back. Literally all tables with 4 seats were marked as reserved. I was the only person there. After a few minutes, the clerk asked me quite rudely to leave that table because that section was “closed”. There was nothing saying it was closed, just reserved. As the place was completely empty it was obvious to me that it was perfectly fine to sit down. Don’t come here with kids or if you’re looking to sit down at a comfortable table.

Hot chocolates a different way. Warmed milk, chocolate pestle on spoon. Interesting. With chilli and orange, superb. Side serving of whipped cream and a dipping biscuit. All of the chocolate and cream solves into the milk. Just a wonderful experience, a must in Arnhem.

Tiramisu was very tasty. lemonades while tasty didn't have right amount of syrup consistently and it wasn't mixed well. Biggest disappointment was 13 euro salmon sandwich which was alright and slightly bigger than that you can get for less than half the price but same quality.

At first glance it seems like a nice place with delicious products. Had very tasty coffee and delicious cake, but the service and customer friendliness left something to be desired. Unfortunately, I also see this a lot in the other reviews. After the first order, we hardly saw any service outside, and those who did come outside sporadically to deliver an order did not notice the other tables. This despite the fact that almost everyone was sitting on the terrace. When we finally ordered something after a while (actively motioned to someone standing at the counter) we were immediately told that the business would close soon (we still had 40 minutes...). A few minutes later the awning was retracted with a lot of noise as we sat there. In other words; very tasty products, but not a pleasant atmosphere. Unfortunately, this is a reason for us not to come back here again. I normally always tip, but I didn't do this this time.

Just go here. REALLY DO IT. staff can grow a lot so that they DO become customer-friendly, take orders within 15 minutes, and do additional sales. Offer a second coffee. Make sure you know where you sat outside when paying. Plenty of growth and flourishing opportunities. Coffee was too strong and unfortunately not too bff.

I have known the owners for years, and only positively. We also provide services to this company, and my employee from Africa is highly respected by them.

I would like to express my opinion on this matter. At first glance it is a nice place, but make no mistake. Staff is really very bad and arrogant. I've been there more than once because I always want to give it another chance, but for me it's really over now. I can honestly say that this is the most customer-unfriendly business in Arnhem. Never experienced anything like this. I have to pay extra every time, or my children get grumpy looks because they make noise. They are also very racist and would rather not have foreigners in their business. In short, DO NOT GO!!!! NOT A CENT WORTH!!!!! Better step further to other nice things around it!!! Not really worth it people. Of course they are going to respond to this as if it is not true and nothing is wrong, but okay. Have a nice day everyone. Never saw me in the tent again.

Very mean people who work here, I asked for extra milk in my cappuccino and then they just charge me for an extra cappuccino. So I had to pay for 3 cappuccinos while I received 2. I asked for extra milk in my cappuccino... she said she would charge some extra, but not a whole cappuccino, very special, never experienced this before.

An amazing sweet friendly and complete experience ( both metaphorically and literally 😁😁😇) with every chocolate based desert , snack, cake , pastry , drink you can imagine but also with very very good coffee also bonus points for actually having real Iced coffee for those warm sunny days. The people that work there are also very friendly with a sweet uplifting smile ready to take your order or even guide you to what you would actually like or need from all the amazing options that they have 😁😁 P.S. it might be a small corner ( store) but it is definitely a sweet corner !!

We arrived at 4:20 PM to have a hot chocolate, among other things. I immediately went to the counter to order, but we were immediately asked to sit down because they came to take the order at the table. Unfortunately this took a very long time. We also asked someone a few times if we could order something, but she didn't hear us(?). Some of the staff were really grumpy. Finally, at 4:45 PM, a super grumpy person came to our table with: 'we're closing in fifteen minutes'. She didn't say anything else and we no longer felt welcome. To which we eventually indicated that we had been waiting quite a long time and that I actually wanted to order right away when we arrived at the counter. To which we immediately received a super grumpy answer: 'That wasn't me, was it?'. We then indicated that it was not meant in anger towards her, but she kept making very strange and angry comments. We then went because we thought it was really not normal. Sorry, but if you don't like your work you don't have to take it out on us?

Nice place for a coffee or tea. You can also take a tasting with chocolates. Then you can choose 4 chocolates yourself, very nice. Sandwish was tasty. The lamp above the table shines directly in your face, which is a bit less pleasant. Nice service.

No professional service and an unpleasant atmosphere. A more friendly and cheerful staff and a little music would do the café good. Furthermore, it is not advisable for staff to smoke outside the entrance to the café at a table for guests... this reflects the inexperience in the catering industry - or the disinterest in the guests' experience.

What a delightful chocolate shop. We loved it so much we went there twice and got souvenirs to bring back home. Very lovely and calm cafe, with nice staff and amazing chocolate. We feel in love with the concept of the hot cocoa spoon, such a unique and warm experience. Everything is great, you can't go wrong !

The atmosphere and service here is very fast. But the cakes are boring and look like they came from a supermarket. In addition, coffee is made from medium roasted coffee beans, which makes the coffee much too bitter for me. In combination with cinnamon it becomes way too bitter! The only plus point is the hot banana toast, which was tasty.

Lekkere koffie en gebak. Koffie zag er niet heel lekker uit maar smaakte goed. Binnen en buiten een terras. Toilet aanwezig. Bediening niet erg klantvriendelijk en de zaak was rommelig (waarschijnlijk personeelstekort). Veel keuze in chocolademelk en kleine lunchgerechten. In deze straat zijn meerdere koffiezaken.

Fijne locatie met lekkere koffie thee en chocolade(melk). Ook gebak is erg lekker. Het is hier wel iets duurder dan gemiddeld.

Lekkere koffie, heerlijke cheese cake. Maar de bediening was niet vriendelijk. We voelden ons daar niet welkom. Jammer.

Voor wat je hier betaalt krijg je uitstekende service en kwaliteit (kan zelf tot nu toe alleen spreken van de lunch en espresso (bonbon inbegrepen)). Ik kom zeker nog eens terug!

Prettige plek om een heerlijke kop warme chocolademelk te drinken. Samen met een stukje gebak erbij genoten voordat de winkels open gingen.

Diep teleurgesteld in het personeel van de buren (Bagel&Beans) liep ik snel weg en de Chocolate Company Café in.. wat een super lief, vriendelijk en behulpzaam personeel! Je voelt je als klant zoals het hoort. Heel fijn! Koffie was heerlijk, lekker chocolaatje erbij! Ik ga hier zeker terugkomen :) goede bediening is zeldzaam.

Leuke plek om te genieten van een warme chocolademelk of wat anders. Je hebt keuze uit heel veel soorten en die soorten kun je ook kopen en mee naar huis nemen. Ik bestelde een melkchocolade, caramel en die was erg lekker. De melk was goed warm en de chocolade vol van smaak. De volle slagroom maakte dit perfecte kopje chocolademelk af. Prijs kwaliteit in orde. Het is niet goedkoop (€5,- ongeveer), maar kwaliteit mag best wat meer kosten. Het personeel was super aardig en kundig.

It was absolutely delicious. All of it, the coffee, the cute little chocolate they brought in the spoons and the fresh croissant 🥐 . A bit expensive overall.

We were here on a Wednesday afternoon, it was quite and cozy, friendly staff. Bread (tuna sandwich) and drink (hot chocolate) were very yummy. Good place to just sit down and warm up with a drink or snack during winter time

Heerlijke lunch en een mooie locatie.

Leuke plek om te zitten, lekkere thee en vriendelijk personeel. Broodje tonijn was wat karig belegd en het brood was droog, jammer. De tosti was wel heerlijk. Bij het afrekenen werd er niet meer teruggekomen op mijn klacht van het broodje tonijn, gemiste kans wat mij betreft. Ik ga hier niet meer lunchen.

Een taartje en koffie gedronken. Vond de red velvet taart voor de prijs tegenvallen. Vind het persoonlijk niet echt een red velvet taart.
