Churros&chocolate in Rotterdam Centrum

You order on a screen where it shows a nice stroopwaffle, at a place looking like they're actually cooking food on the spot, at a food market with a lot of vendors freshly making all sorts of food. Then you wait for your purchase, make multiple eye contact with the guy who doesn't bother to say hi, wait more, then suddenly the guy tells you you just have to pick it up yourself from the shelf, where you discover it's therefore just an overpriced bag of industrial stroopwaffles that you could have bought in a supermarket for cheaper. The quality (of food and service) is low and the feeling of having been fooled and "used" is high. So disappointing. I wish everyone would know not to buy anything there but it's a touristic spot so they can just disappoint everyone one by one, nobody needs to return.

Charge "extra" for the fork/pick for the poffterjes. Feels like a scam

For 8.25 euros the bubblewaffles were empty (not like in the photos)

The tastiest poffertjes I have ever eaten! Fresh, delicious, and prepared with care. The employee is super sweet, friendly, polite, and professional. And regarding earlier reviews where I read that the gentleman was a “weirdo”: that is complete nonsense! I actually had a very pleasant experience. The gentleman does his job really well, listens to what you say, and takes that into account. If something isn't quite right, he is honest about it and points it out politely. Truly a top-notch place! Definitely recommended if you love tasty, fresh poffertjes. 😍 Had a delicious meal and definitely worth a repeat visit! 👌🏼

Bad food! The churros tasted like old oil and were cold.

I waited 25 minutes for 6 poffertjes (no, it wasn't busy). "Slow" is an understatement. The product is good, but it wasn't worth the wait.

Wonderful places often get surprisingly bad reviews. I think it is because people are more likely to write something when they are upset, while after a good experience we usually get caught up in everyday life and forget to say that everything was great. In our case, the staff were incredibly kind, friendly and helpful. Our first portion was stolen by seagulls because we went outside with the food, completely unaware of the danger! Luckily, nothing stole our second portion, and it was absolutely delicious. Thank you for the lovely service and great food. We will remember this place with a smile!

Ordered poffertjes today, but the person was in their own world. We tried to point out to the employee that the poffertjes were undercooked, but this didn't register, and he placed them in a container. Then his colleague took over. The poffertjes were literally misshapen and undercooked. Next, cold, frozen butter was put on them. The employee struggled to scrape off the butter. We were longing for fluffy poffertjes, but we got dough and greasy poffertjes. I would not recommend this to my worst enemy. Kind regards.

We got churros with Nutella for the kids. Two of them quickly stopped eating (after 2-3) because they didn't like them and then felt unwell. The third ate 6 churros and got really sick afterwards, like food poisoning! Germs in the oil? We definitely won't be going back.

Didn't think I can get bad poffertjes in this country after 5 years of living here but I'm sad to report they exist! Bland as hell. Sprinkled powdered sugar like they can't afford it. Strange behavior since poffertjes are supposed to be drenched in the stuff. Get your poffertjes from somewhere else. ;]

Strange people working here. Especially the guy with too much gel in his hair. A weirdo, good at talking nonsense, but he works reluctantly. And you can see that reflected in his behavior. It's a real shame, because employees like that don't make a second visit.

We frequently pass by the Markthal and also this fine establishment. It's extremely tempting to not stop by for a quick snack. The staff is very friendly and have an eye for detail. The food quality is good, taste amazing and possible combinations are unique. Poffertjes with kersen?! Superb! Highly recommended and very tourist/foreigner friendly way to taste some lovely Dutch snacks.

My nearly 3-year-old son wasn't exactly drooling at the sight of those fresh mini pancakes. The cook even gave him a tasty treat while we waited. Super service, and my son thought it was “deeeery.” I secretly had one too when my son was looking the other way for a moment, and I can only agree with him. Delicious!

Incredibly arrogant staff. I asked her to put on another glove because she only had one and she also touches food and cash with her other hand. She almost rolled her eyes. Furthermore, the prices are wrong, and because SHE didn't have enough change, she gave me too little. Definitely not how it should be. I used to enjoy coming here, but not anymore.

Churros soak up the oil when fried, I don't understand why they use old oil for that. Ugh!! The kids who work there clearly have no heart for the business, aren't customer-friendly, and are stingy with the chocolate sauce; it seems like it's coming out of their paychecks. They don't sell much, they sell a lot, in short, a stall that's preying on poor tourists. A tip for the owner: instead of passing off criticism or denying it, read it and work on it.

The only thing I liked about this place was the atmosphere. But even that was disappointing. I ordered a small portion of churros, which were cold and had way too much sugar. The taste was also disappointing. But the service was extremely unfriendly. Very monotonous, and it felt like they'd never served customers before.

The service is terrible, the girls at the counter are rude and look bothered when you order. The churros are completely burnt and don't taste good. We also paid more than what was advertised. Please avoid at all cost.

They sell vegan stoopwafel (only in packet) €5 but very nice and the girl working was doing a great job by herself.

Also the Dubai strawberries and waffle pancakes are a must-try! The owner is super friendly and creates a great atmosphere. Highly recommended for sweets!

The waffle was really hard to chew and not so amazing. Would prefer eating somewhere else.

Waffle tasted like a brioche croissant from the supermarket with an expired date. And probably it is what it is....i later noticed they don't make it by order, they have premade waffles and just reheat them. Disgraceful!

She acted like I was bothering her just by ordering. On top of that, I paid extra for white chocolate and she didn’t even add it. To make things worse, the churros were burnt. I will never go back. We ordered a small portion of churros with cinnamon sugar, but unfortunately it was disappointing. They were way too crispy, probably because they were fried for too long, which also made us taste more oil. It was busy, so maybe less attention was paid to the preparation, but that really shouldn't matter. The sugar to churro ratio, on the other hand, was good.

Cool place serves bakes and dessert. We tried churros with chocolate and fine sugar also mini pancakes. Churros are great, pancakes are good but little undercooked. Service is fast and staff are friendly. Place where they shop at is big shopping mall.

Today is January 15, 2024, we wanted to order bubble waffle, but she said she doesn't have bubble waffle while she was making bubble waffle for us, then she said she doesn't have any kind of fruit and later we found out that they also has no whipped cream. We also had to wait a long time because she was talking to her friends. Terrible service. Don't come here.
